In this video, Fun Coach Tamika explains that a child's hatred of school is often rooted in encounters with adult bullies—teachers or other school staff who are emotionally immature and feel threatened by the child's presence. Drawing on nearly three decades of experience working with children and families, she shares a personal story about her own daughter being singled out by a teacher, illustrating how a parent’s attentive listening, direct questioning, and prompt meetings with the teacher and principal can uncover and address the problem. Tamika emphasizes the importance of parents consistently asking probing questions when a child reports issues, meeting with the implicated adult quickly, and teaching children specific advocacy language that allows them to express concerns without disrespecting authority. She links these practices to her broader mission of helping parents stop dysfunction stemming from past trauma (PTSD) and to empower children to become confident, non‑bullying adults. The video concludes with a call to action for viewers to like, subscribe, and suggest future topics.

Hey y'all, Fun Coach Tamika here, and welcome back to my channel. Today we're going to discuss why your child hates school, and it's more complex than you think. Matthew 18:10 says, take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones, for I say unto you that in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven. So what does that mean? Simply put, do not despise children. Children are the closest thing that you will get to see, feel, and experience the face of God. This is one of the reasons why I absolutely love to be around and work with children. I can't even think about children without smiling because they're such a joy To be around. In the almost 3 decades that I've been working with children and families, I cannot tell you how much it boils my blood to see people who literally volunteer to work with children but do not like children. It's as if they're on this mission to bully as many little humans as possible because they were bullied as a child. And although I understand, because remember, title of this channel is PTSD, Parents Trying to Stop Dysfunction, it comes from a place of past traumas. However, it is still not acceptable. And frankly, I'm over it. This is why I wanna equip you as the parent to stop the dysfunction that's happening in your child's school every day. Teachers all over the world are leaving the profession at alarmingly high rates because of the same reason why your child hates school. I've been advocating for children all over the world for decades, and I will continue to do so. One of the trainings that I offer my clients is teaching them how to give language to to their children to advocate for themselves. Because once you begin to build a foundation of confidence in your child, deeply insecure adults will feel threatened by the very presence of your child, and they will become adult bullies. I know it's dramatic, but it's very true. Honestly, adult bullies are the reason why I created this channel, and unfortunately, adults who work in schools The worst offenders. Notice I didn't say teachers. I said adults who work in the school, because that means any adult who works in the school that has authority over your child that feels this way and act this way. These are who I'm talking about. My youngest daughter, who's now a freshman in high school, came to me one day when she was in elementary school and she said, Mom, I think my teacher is picking on me. I've created a space for my children where when they come and tell me something, I drop everything and we have a conversation. So I did just that when she said, Mom, I think my teacher's picking on me. Now, before I finish the story, let me ask you this question. How many parents, if your child came and said, Mom, I think my teacher's picking on me, how many of you would respond with, oh, I don't think so, what did you do? Again, not judging because this is what has been passed down to us for generations. However, I'm gonna digress on that for right now. So my daughter comes and says, I believe my teacher is picking on me. We sit down, we have a conversation. My first question was, tell me more about why you say that. So she begins to explain these situations, and after listening— because I was listening to understand I heard that she may be correct. So my next step was to schedule a meeting with myself and the teacher. As I'm sitting down with the teacher and listening to the teacher talk, I began to realize that it is absolutely as my daughter described. So my next step was to plan a meeting with myself, the teacher, and the principal. Well, guess what? The teacher was not happy. That I did this. She was furious. She was so angry, I could literally feel the heat from her body as she was sitting next to me and we were talking. So if I, as an adult, felt that, can you imagine what my child was feeling from her? After that, both myself and the principal agreed that my daughter needed to be removed from that class. And this was because I make a habit of listening when my child says something about an adult. The reason your child hates school is because an adult bully despises them. Now, they may despise them for several reasons. However, the main reason is there is something about your child that triggers And threatens a belief that this particular adult has about themselves. And so because they are triggered and more often than not emotionally immature, they take it out on your child. Can you imagine being a child who's feeling helpless against an adult? Who has authority over you, and you have to spend 6 to 8 hours a day with this adult, and they despise you? I would hate school too. So when your child tells you they hate school, ask questions and keep asking until you can get to the root of why. And if it is an adult that a child is telling you They're having issues with, make a plan to meet with that adult as soon as possible so that you can assess the situation for yourself. And teach your little ones how to advocate for themselves in the face of an adult bully. That doesn't mean teaching them to disrespect them. Like I told my daughter, you can't fight adults, but I can. However, I gave her language to speak to the adult. Until I'm able to speak with the adult. When you teach your littles how to communicate and advocate for themselves, they grow into adults who are not bullies. I hope this was helpful. Hit the like and subscribe button.
