In this solo parenting vlog, Fun Coach Tamika (Miss Tamika) opens with a biblical reference to Ephesians 6:4, emphasizing that fathers should not provoke their children. She shares a summer‑camp anecdote where a child expressed love for her because she smiles daily, illustrating the powerful impact of simple positive gestures. Tamika then critiques common parental behaviors—constant nagging, yelling, and nitpicking—that crush a child’s spirit, especially under life’s pressures. She advises parents to become more self‑aware, invest in their own emotional health, and practice patience so they can smile, laugh, and play with their children. The video concludes with a call to action for viewers to like, subscribe, and comment on challenging child behaviors they need help with.

Hey y'all, Fun Coach Tamika here, and welcome back to my channel. Today we will discuss how you are crushing your child's spirit and may not know it. It's gonna be good, so let's get into it. Ephesians 6:4 says, and ye fathers provoke not your children to wrath, but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. So I first want to address the reason why the first word of this verse is and, is because the previous verses was talking about what children should do, which is honoring their parents. And I don't know about you, but when I was younger, that's where they stopped. They started reading this, this chapter and they said, children, obey your parents. That was literally beat into my brain to obey my parents. However, they never went on to talk about this verse that we're talking about today, and Fathers, provoke not your children. What does that mean, not to provoke your children? I remember one time in my summer camp, one of the, the little boys was coming in and his mom was like fussing at him, and he kind of like held his head down and, you know, while she was saying what she had to say to him. He would not look up while she was talking, and when he thought that she was done speaking, he looked up, he saw me, and he ran over and he— hey, Miss Tamika— gave me a big hug. Well, clearly the mom wasn't gone yet, and she called him back over to her, and I briefly heard some things that she was saying, but she was like, oh, you didn't tell me bye. Um, you wouldn't even look at me when I was talking to you, but as soon as you see Miss Tameka, you ran over there. And, you know, so she continues with that. Long story short, as the day went on, the young boy came up to me and he said, Miss Tameka, do you want to know why I love coming to your camp? I was like, I would love to know why. And he says, because you smile every day. I was like, oh, that is an amazing reason why you would want to come to the camp, and I'm glad to be able to share my smile with you. So when the mom came back, the parents, they would want to come talk to me after camp is over and asking like little tips. And the mom came to me and she said, Miss Tamika, you know, the weekend's coming up. I need to know what I can do for him so that he You know, lights up and smiles at me the way he smiles at you. What can I do? And I told her something very simple. You want to hear it? I said, smile more. And then I shared with her, do you know what your son said to me today? He said he likes to come to camp because I smile every day. So something as simple as smiling really helped him. So now let's talk about you. How are you crushing your child's spirit? Well, one, I understand life be lifin', okay? So because of the pressures of life, oftentimes we as parents do not find time and space and ways to have fun with our children. All we do is fuss. If all you're doing is nagging and yelling and fussing and nitpicking and na na na na na na, no one will want to actually be around you. However, because this is your child, they know they have no choice. However, their spirit is crushed. They may be more agitated than when they're around you. They may not even want to be around you that much. So take a step back and really assess what's going on. Become more self-aware of that. And I hear you saying, uh, Miss Tamika, you do not understand, these kids be doing the most. Like, you can't be smiling every day, that is unrealistic. And I hear it. I understand. You forgot I got kids too, and a grandchild. However, when you take time to invest in your emotional health, you build capacity and space to be patient, more tolerable, so that you are not only fussing and nagging and nitpicking all the time. However, you also have space to smile and laugh and play With your children so that you're not crushing their spirits. You can get your kids to do amazing things if you just learn to practice patience. Hope this was helpful.
