Jason Nicholas walks through Bryant Park and Midtown Manhattan on a rainy April morning, pointing out the Radiator Building, Chrysler Building, Empire State Building, and the Public Library. He's heading to sketch and calls the park a peaceful break from the city.
April 25th. Um, good to see you. I am gonna pop on and off today. I am in NYC. Let me turn around and show you. So this is Bryant Park. I'm headed towards GCT to do some sketching today, but I just want to stop and show you some sights along the way. Check out the Radiator Building back there, that incredible skyscraper, Art Deco, black with gold trims. Awesome. This is the fountain here in Bryant Park. Just walk around the park with me for a minute, okay? Cloudy, rainy day, but you know what? I love it. So I'm just going to stand here. Here's the lawn. Area, Bryant Park. And if you can see all the way back there, you can see the tip of the Chrysler Building. But, uh, stay tuned because we're going to see something also amazing. So we're going to come around the corner here. And, uh, well, I think you can see it in the frame. Let me turn around. There's the Empire State Building peeking up above the other buildings. Whoa. Um, straight ahead is the NYPL, New York Public Library. This is the area— if you watch live streams during the winter, this is where they have ice skating rink and things like that happening. It's now the lawn, and there's a robot up there cutting the grass, one of those like Roomba grass cutter things. That's cool. So yeah, so Edie, good to see you. Hope all is well. Hope you're doing great today. I love Bryant Park. It is, it is just an incredible respite in a busy city. Right now it's not busy here, which is great. It's morning, it's rainy, so great time to come visit. So I'm here sketching today around the city. First stop I think is GCT, and we'll play it by ear and see how the day goes.
