Quick walk

Jason Nicholas walks his dog Olivia through a New Jersey park at sunset, spotting bunnies and fall foliage while teaching six architecture classes. He talks about exhaustion, the importance of rest, and how nature fuels his architectural imagination, then teases a sketch session later that evening.

Hello everybody, Jason here from the Inkspired Life. It has been way too, way, way, way too long since I've done a live stream, a walking live stream. Uh, it's good to be here. So I'm just taking a quick walk as the sun is going down here. I'm gonna do some bunny spotting, me and my buddy who's behind me. Olivia. So yeah, I hope, I hope you're doing well. Um, so let's see if we find any bunnies. I'll do a little bit of chatting, walking, all the usual stuff. Spin move because there's a pup. Awesome. So yeah, it's been a while. I have been, uh, let's just say it's been so crazy busy. Nothing bad, good stuff, just school and Some architecture work, and I've just been so tired, so exhausted after school. It's tiring me out, but in a good way because I'm just pouring my heart and soul into what I do. But yeah, so I haven't livestreamed in a while. I thought it'd be cool just to pop on here quickly. So pardon the shaking shaky camera. I'm just holding the phone in my hand and. Enjoy the beautiful outdoors. So fall is finally here. The leaves are changing colors. I love this time of year. It's just amazing. The nights are getting crisp. Leaves are changing colors. Yeah, I think fall is my fave season. Um, just so many changes happening, right? No bunnies yet. So I've, you know, I've been walking pretty regularly and the bunny count has gone way down. When I started over the summer live streaming, you know, we were seeing 8, 9, 10 easily. Now, um, the countdown is down to like 1 or, or 2. So I'm not sure where the bunnies all went. Let's check out the foliage starting to change here. I'll try to do more live streaming so you guys can see how the leaves change. This was unplanned. I didn't know I was going to be going live, so Here we are. Feel free to say hello in the chat. Let me know, what is your favorite season? School's off to a good start this year. I have 6 classes for architecture and 2 CAD classes, which are like product design classes. It's really awesome. Um, 80-something students, I think. Maybe a little less, and 80-something different personalities. It is—it's so fun teaching. I love it a lot. But really, man, it takes a lot of energy for sure. Feel free to say hello in the comments. Love to talk to you guys. I hope you're having a great day today. So usually we can rely on seeing a bunny over here. Oh. It's there actually. There's a bunny, we found one. This one seems to be really consistent. It'll probably hop away, but it is right up here. I'll try to stand still. Can you guys see the bunny at home? I'll get closer. Oh, he went into his bunny house. It's really cool. I'll show you how I know where they live. If you look, On the hedges here, you can see actually they have kind of little doorways they made, little openings. There's my pup. But you can see how they kind of create these tunnels, these entryways into these hedges here. My pup won't bother them, she's friendly with them. She basically— she actually typically ignores them. Um, she's more about smelling than going after anything. Hello, Rambling Rue. Rambling Rue, nice to see you. Thanks for saying hi in the chat. I hope I got your name right. Hey guys, thanks for watching. Bear with me, I know it's bouncy. I don't have a gimbal. I'm literally just holding the phone, walking my dog, and holding the camera and talking all at the same time. We are now surrounded by a lot of gnats. I try to stay away from this area because they dump grass here and it gets wet and soggy. We just had, oh man, was it 2 or 3 days straight Rain here, nor'easter. We fared fairly well here. Some power outages in town, but nothing like the Jersey Shore who got—they got battered. So we're very lucky up here, northern Jersey. Hi, I see. I'm sorry I can't pronounce your name, but hi back to you. I love it. Can you guys hear like the crickets and stuff? Lori Jean's in the house, good to see you. How are you? I think I'm gonna livestream sketch tonight, so stay tuned. I think around 8:30 PM I'll go on this channel here, we'll do some sketching. I haven't done it Livestream in a while, so if you're around, definitely tune in later. All right, so we have one bunny sighting. We'll take it so far. I'm gonna switch hands for a second. Oh, I dropped the puppy leash. My pup, my pup wouldn't go anywhere. Come on, Liv, we're gonna go this way, buddy. So I call this Bunny Alley. On a good day, we would see 6 or 7 bunnies down here. We have one. I'll take one, definitely. Uh, we'll see if we'll head up to— head up the hill here in a second if Olivia cooperates. She's going back this way. I really would love to show you guys the, um, uphill here. It's kind of cool up there with all these grasses changing colors. So I'm gonna try to get Livvy to go up that way. All right, Livvy, you want to go up the hill? Let's go up the hill. Ready? Come on, buddy. We're gonna go up to Middle Earth, up the hill here. All right, Liv, let's go. Here we go, buddy, up the hill. All right, so we're headed up here, headed to Middle Earth. Middle Earth. So when I'm walking around, um, I look at really small details. Like, I love the changing colors here. So I'm always looking around. I'm a very visual person, being an architect and a creative and an artist. And this time of year, I'm always just, just hunting out different colors. All right, Middle-earth, here we come. Here we are. Check this out. Check out the colors here. Isn't that pretty amazing? So during the summer, these grasses were not this tall, so they've grown a lot in the past few months. I just love the colors. Libby's really pulling me. That's a good screenshot. Come on, they want to go this way. Let's go up the hill. Ready? Come on, go up the hill. All right, so we're gonna leave Middle-earth. We're gonna go up to the top of the hill here, I think. I don't know if any of you guys are Lord of the Rings fans. So Middle-earth is from Lord of the Rings. That's where I got the name for this level here. All right, we're gonna work our way up the hill. Sunset's happening probably in about 14 minutes. I don't want to be here after sunset. Mother Nature and all the nighttime creatures will start stirring, whether it's a fox or bears or other things. We don't need any encounters unless it's like a deer. Deer or more bunnies are cool. All right, let's check out this view at the top. So we're going up the hill. Ta-da! Here we go. This view is going to be amazing when the leaves all change, so I can't wait for that to happen. All right, little riff. Let me— we'll end with a little off-the-cuff riff here. Um, lately I've been feeling so, so tired because just so much going on, but it's good stuff. I think sometimes when we're doing a lot of good things, for me, I stop paying attention to Um, just taking time out to rest. You know, I'm excited about projects, I'm excited about school, but there's always a time and a need for resting your mind, your body, your soul. And I've kind of forgot to do that the past couple weeks. That's kind of— it's been kind of go, go, go. I tried to get some naps in in the afternoon. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But just remember, even in your busy seasons, take time for yourself to rest and recover. It's really important. So I definitely wanted to come out here tonight. Even though it was kind of late, I wanted to get out here and get some fresh air, and this is kind of recharging for me. Yeah, I love this. In the next week or 2 weeks, this is all gonna change and be so, so colorful. So rest, recharge, even during your busy seasons. Take some time for yourself. Amen. I love how they cut the pathways out between the grasses here. It's just really cool. All right, sometimes we see a bunny up here. Not seeing it yet. So let's see, so far we're counting our creature sightings. We have 1 bunny, 1 pup, 0 deer. This way, Liv. Spin move. I love the color of these here. So usually there's a bunny straight up ahead, but I don't see it tonight. Livvy, I don't know if we're gonna go that way. Let's go this way, buddy. Come on, Liv, we're gonna go this way. I guess we're gonna loop up the hill again and wrap around and we'll head out. Yeah, so October's right around the corner. October will be happening, my favorite month of the year, so that's exciting. I don't want— I don't even want to start thinking about Winter yet, so we'll focus on the fall. You know, you guys, you know how the stores always push the holidays and stuff like way ahead of time? Let's not do that here. We're just going to savor the season we're in right now. All right, let's go up the hill. You have a choice. Do we go to the left or the right? It's like life, right? There's always choices to make. What adventure, what path are we going to choose? Or we can go the other way behind us back down the hill. We're gonna head up this way because it's starting to get dark. Reminds me, choose your own adventure stories. Do you remember those? And when I was a kid, I used to love the choose your own adventure stories. It's pretty much the only kind of books I've ever read when I was growing up. They were so amazing. So if you don't know what those stories are, you'd have a story. So let's say right now we are out on an adventure walking through nature, through the trails. If we choose to go left, turn to page 15. If you choose to go right, turn to page 25. So whatever choice you make would bring you to a different page and the story would change. So you were literally choosing your own path in those books. It was so, so fun because you could always— you could end up with several different endings. And I remember having Indiana Jones ones. They were really cool. I think I still have a couple. Pirate adventures, treasure hunts. I love, and I kind of miss those choose your own adventure stories. It would be really fun to bring this back again. Whoa! If you're watching, I really appreciate it. Feel free to give me a thumbs up or hit that like button. Let's send this out there. I'd love to promote this channel, get some new followers, and. Continue to engage with the amazing, amazing people that already follow the channel. Again, we're just hiking, miking, walking and talking. Nothing planned here, rambling a little bit or a lot. Um, and then tonight I would like to come online again and, uh, well, I will come online tonight and do some sketching. It's been too long since I've done livestream sketching, so I don't know what we'll sketch tonight. I don't know if we'll do, uh, last time we did a Maine lighthouse. I don't know if we'll do that tonight or we'll do an NYC building. I have no clue, but I'll sketch something for just a little bit. This is in New Jersey. I'm in northern New Jersey. This is a county park. I often dream about, um, this property being where I could build a house, but I can't. It's park property. But I love the layout here. It's pretty cool. Again, sorry for the bouncy camera. I don't have a gimbal tonight, I'm just holding the phone in my hand. But if you look at the landscape here, this would be so cool to build a house here. So as an architect, I'm always trying to imagine where I would Have a house. This would be a really cool spot, right, Liv? So we are now back down to Middle Earth again, and we're probably gonna work our way out now. Surprised we didn't see any deer tonight. Usually we'll see deer this time of night. Oh, I'll give you a look back and you can kind of see the layout of the land. It's pretty cool. So here we go. So it's a pretty cool place. All right, I think it's gonna be a wrap for me. Thanks for watching this kind of quick walk and talk. Uh, hit that like button on the way out. Feel free, feel free to subscribe if you want to see more live streams, usually either from here, other parks, New York City as well, and usually less shaky. All right, until we meet again, sketch boldly, live creatively. And embrace imperfection.
