Friday Night Chill and Sketch

Hey, everybody. Happy, Happy Halloween. October 31, 2025. I am Jason with the Inkspired life, where I love sketching, love design. I just love creativity in general. I think it's an amazing gift that we all have and we can all get better at with practice, practice, practice. Sometimes I. I think we feel like creativity is something you're either born with or you're not. That's not true. Creativity is a skill that can be sharpened and developed like any other skill. So join me for the next half hour or so. We're gonna do some sketching tonight. Let me just click my other buttons, make sure I'm live where I need to be live. You guys are awesome. All right, let's catch. Let me find a. Let me find a Sharpie that works. Let's see. Whoa. I might. I think I'm over two with the Sharpies. Let me grab another one. I have been not been having luck with Sharpies lately. I don't know what it is. All right, let's try it again. There we go. So the Adams family house, like the Munsters house, like the sketches I just showed you, they're all based on Gothic architecture with these mansard roofs. Mansard roofs are the kind of. The roof I'm drawing here, it's called a mansard roof. I believe it's French and derivation. That's a fancy word. Derivation has kind of these slopes, these angles. Can anybody. Can anybody tell me a fast food restaurant that. I guess maybe they're still known, but they used to be known for, like, their mansard roof shape. The other sharpies dying, too? Holy moly. I guess it's Halloween. We're going to be using Sharpies that are dying. So old school burger kings, maybe McDonald's too, had these mansard roofs. These roofs that were kind of shaped like this. I'll just flip over here. We'll sketch here. So this is a mansard roof. It could either be straight angles like that. Boom. Imagine that's a building, right? So that's a mansard roof. Or sometimes you'll see them kind of flared as well. So there's a mansard roofs and a lot of these, you know, Victorian Gothic, Victorian type of houses have haunted houses, have that look. I am not happy with my Sharpies tonight, but we're gonna go. That's part of grab and go creativity. We just go on the fly with what we have nearby. We don't stress about it, and we just. We just have fun creating, right? Sketching is about. For me, it's just about fun. Throwing lines down, throwing ink down, throwing color down. It's therapy for me. It's either this or I eat a lot of Ben and Jerry's and I know my heart doctor would rather have me sketch. They call this the widow's walk on the roof. Gothic and Gothic architecture. These houses. You'll see a lot of arches. Like, these windows have arch shapes to them. This has an octagonal kind of window. There's another octagonal window here. We're going to throw some color on this two guys. I'm gonna let it bleed off the page there. I'm not gonna finish that side. See, it's a creepy stream. I'm talking about bleeding and dying Sharpies. It's just trying to contribute to the spookiness. Oh, man, the sharpie is stinking. So we had maybe about 10 trick or treaters come to our house. So it's usually pretty quiet in our neighborhood. There's an area in town, a couple areas in town where all the peeps go for Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving for trick or treating. My brain's on Thanksgiving because that is a. I think that's my favorite holiday. So it's quiet here, which is cool. I don't mind that. I know our dog doesn't mind it. Although actually, she probably would like more entertainment and people to bark at. Hope you guys can see this. Okay, let me know. We got the arch doorway. So again, this is the Adams family house. Feel free to sing the theme song and snap at the appropriate snapping locations. I'm not a very. I used to be able to snap really well, and then, I don't know. The older I got, the less snap I had. I used to be a really loud snapper. All right, cool. It's looking good. I'm liking it. I'm getting the kind of gothic Y vibes of it. Again, we'll throw some color on it as well. Just kind of maybe Do a base here. I think we have. I think there's a porch overhang here with maybe a column, maybe another column. Then we have the. There's like a sun room on the side of the house. I think this is where Morticia would. If I remember, I think she would cut the heads off of her roses and keep. Keep the stem part. God, I love the Addams Family. Although I. I am more of a Munsters fan. I like. I like the Munsters better than Adam's family, Although they've tried to do remakes of the Munsters, and they have not been that good. All right, cool. All right, we got a little outline there. Let's throw some color, some details on it. Wow. Sharpie. Sharpies are all these are. I'm throwing three Sharpies out. Boom. Bye. Bye. Zoom in on this. It. It's. So you may have noticed I actually switched. I'm not using a black Sharpie. I just switched to this pen. I really like these pens. These are. This is a Pentel Energel pen. This is actually brown. I like the brown color ink in here. Yeah. The Sharpies just weren't cutting. It weren't working. So I kind of grabbed this. I had it close by, and it's. It's fine. So I'm just coming on here, adding some detail right now just to pull some of these corners of the buildings, the building out a little bit. Boom, boom, chakalaka. I do want to actually, I should have this route. This really comes like this in here. More. Cool. Do that will show some of the wood siding happening here. I'm actually going to turn this while I sketch it. So there we go. So you can see I'm just pulling out some of those details on top of the. The white creative marker I threw down. Definitely want to get in maybe. I'm gonna say probably at least two times during the holiday. Get into the. Or even, like, Grand Central would be fun. Somewhere in that area. That'd be so cool. I was gonna do a live sketching workshop in NYC this October. I didn't pursue it because I had little interest in my online workshop, so I didn't spend the time to put anything together. But maybe in the spring would be a better time to hang out in nyc. We'll do some sketching. I want to add some hatch lines. I mean, we'll stick with this. This pen. I'm thinking let's grab some water. Got a scratchy throat today. Let's see. Is my hand. Sorry if my hand's in the way of what I'm doing, guys. Getting close to 1K subscribers on YouTube. Last time I looked, it was 9. 78. 978. Trying to hit a thousand before midnight tonight. I don't know. Two hours ago. Who? I don't know. I don't. I don't think it's gonna happen. I'm not being a pessimist, and that's okay. I want to thank everybody that has subscribed recently. I think I picked up. I think it was 9. 44 or so. We picked up a bunch of subscribers the past week or so. So thank you guys. Appreciate that. So, guys, I'm just using a straight up, kind of black ballpoint pen right now. Just want to add a little bit of darkness to these roof areas. It. Cool. All right. So this is Adam's family house. I have going here. Just trying to keep up with the idea of spooky houses. Just throwing a frame on here, see what it looks like. Very, very, very, very cool.
