Hey, Becky, hope you're doing well. Happy Wednesday. I am back. This is, uh, this is what I'm calling the 2-hour delay episode. We officially have been notified we're having a 2-hour delay at school tomorrow, so that gives me a little more time to come online and do some painting. So that's awesome. So it's good to see you. Hope you're having a great day. I'm just gonna throw some random tape on here, I think, just for the heck of it.
Ah, let's see, that's cool.
I don't want to throw too much down. Awesome! Yay, more time to play! Yeah, no complaints from me, absolutely. So let's just have fun and throw down some Color and stuff. Zoom in a little bit. Cool, there we go. So it looks like my head is blocking a little of the upper left here, or upper right. Sorry about that. Becky says, I like this. Oh, awesome! Thank you, Becky, I appreciate that. It's going, uh, gonna go a little bright now. Grabbing Pink Varsity Pen. Becky, uh, you are always— your stuff is amazing. I love, love your horses. Um, so it's just so cool. So keep that good stuff coming. Keep the good stuff coming, and happy belated birthday to you. Happy belated. Hope you had an awesome birthday. So I am seeing a— as always, I'm seeing a skyline or a cityscape forming here. Some kind of a bridge, possibly where the pink is right here. It's kind of what my brain's picturing right now. Whether or not it stays that direction, I don't know. We'll see. I don't want to— I don't want to do too much pink. Maybe a smidge here. Actually, I'm gonna— I'm gonna put the pink on the tape and I'm just gonna pull it off kind of this way, whisk it this way a little bit off the tape. Awesome, I'm so glad you had a good, um, birthday. That's awesome, awesome, good for you. Blue tape submarine. Oh yeah, this does— I could see that it looks like a submarine right here. That's funny. Awesome. Yeah, so that totally unintentional. I just kind of randomly threw the tape down, but I definitely see it. I think it's enough different colors on this. Hey Patty, good to see you. Happy birthday to you! How awesome, Becky and Patty, you guys have birthdays back to back! That is so cool. What are the odds of that? That is so awesome. Must be something in the air that time of year for creativity. Awesome stuff, guys. I will not sing happy birthday. I will not because it would be very far from a gift. My voice is not a gift. My singing voice is not a gift. Hey, D-Ray's in the house! Good to see you, D-Ray. Hope all is well. So glad you were able to pop on, that's awesome. Love your birthday house. Oh good, I'm so I'm glad. That's awesome. I tell people I play musical instrument for a reason. I don't sing much either. That's awesome. It's always fun having you guys pop, pop in. So I'm very thankful for a 2-hour delay tomorrow morning, allowing me to be on a little bit late tonight on a school night. So I'm not trying to be greedy, but I kind of hoping our 2-hour delay turns into a snow day. That's all I'm gonna say. No complaints for me if I get a snow day tomorrow. We'll see. I know I'm being greedy, but we'll take the 2-hour for now. Oops, let me zoom back in. Trying to capture a lot of movement in this here. Not sure where it's headed. I'm just kind of feeling the music before which had a lot of movement to it. So you'll see a lot of curved kind of lines happening here.
Creative Capricorns. Awesome.
Yes, woohoo for the 2-hour delay. You got that, D-Ray. Now that everyone is so good at remote learning, I'm surprised. Yeah, well, you know, we still have snow days. I hear what you're saying, and it's a good thing. It's a good thing. We need a break sometimes, but that's a really good point. I'm not going to question or try to figure out why they haven't switched to that, but the technology is there and we've done virtual with COVID so we are capable of doing it. It's all good with me. All I can say is there is no logic. These logic does not exist these days.
It's crazy.
I'm just going with, going with the flow. Just trying to be positive and go with it, right? Yes, no, these are wonderful surprise. They are, I agree, they are a surprise. This is a Interesting. I'm just looking at this on screen and I feel a sneeze coming on, so excuse me. Excuse me one sec.
I feel it.
Excuse me. Hmm, I don't know, what else do I want to see? Let's of course put some more of this yellow green colors in here. Bless you. Thank you, I appreciate that. Um, yeah, it's looking— this is looking interesting. So I just threw some random tape down just for the heck of it. I just— I did want to tape the watercolor sheet down to the board here. I'm like, all right, let me just throw some on the— on the painting as well. I could probably tear it off. This is just— this dries pretty quick, this, um, this ink washing. Let's check it out. Uh, actually, let me throw down some, uh, some watercolor stick. Uh, your last tips experiment came out amazing. Oh yeah. That, um, where is that? I have to say, I really, I want to go back and put together a time lapse of this. I have it right here.
Let me zoom out.
Or, here we go. Uh, this, I didn't know where this was headed. I had no clue, like usual, and, um, Yeah, I have to go back and find the first video of this and try to piece it together, but this came out really, really, really cool. And I was actually really surprised by the reactions on Facebook I had received from this, this piece because it's really very different than what I've done. I love how it came together. Together in the end. I knew when I was working on it after a while, if you watch the original video, I'm pretty sure there was a point in there where I said, oh, this could be, you know, maybe a theater or a stage looking at the audience. So that's what it— I kept working on that idea. I really— there's something about the figure on here I really love. I love this abstract kind of figure here. I don't know, there's something for me, there's some really— it's really powerful looking, especially close up at this piece. I feel a lot when I look at this. I feel actually, I feel, you know, artwork can make you feel different ways, right? This kind of, I don't know, this makes me feel excited, it's kind of scared, like I picture coming out onto a stage in front of an audience, having stage fright, you know, that moment before you start performing or talking. So, that's kind of the moment I was trying to capture when I added the figure in here. If you look close, you'll actually notice I do have a person figure here in graphite that I didn't— I kind of stepped away from. I sketched someone here and I didn't like the positioning of them. They're right in this area. So one of the cool things, or I like to do in my art pieces, I like to show the history of how things came about, all the line work. So I didn't try to erase this person out, I just left the lines there. It's part of the story of how this was created, right? Um, it's got history of how this evolved. So you'll— if you look at my artwork, you'll see lots of guidelines or lines that are not erased, and I think that's part of the style that I like. Anyway, thank you. I'm glad you guys like that piece, and thank you for all the awesome reactions about it. So, so cool. And I know my cousin's very, very interested in it. I have to get back to her. So if you're watching this, cuz, I'll get back to you, I promise. Um, uh, like you said a few times, I feel like it's looking into a diorama. Yeah, it looks— it has a 3D, it has a 3D. So thank you guys, came out really cool. You know, if I tried to replicate it, probably wouldn't work out. It's— I'm sure it's a one-off kind of piece, but you know what, it's all good. Um, I would love to— I'm going to try to sell prints of that one. So thanks again for your feedback. I really meant a lot to hear you guys saying cool things about it. So I'm just throwing down some watercolor stick. I'm just trying to pick up the texture. This is actually— this is Kilimanjaro paper I have down here, which Rue, you know, introduced me to— gosh, was it last year sometime? I have only used— this is probably the third time I've ever done anything on the paper, but I wanted to play with it tonight a little bit. Just stepping outside the zone. And I'm liking the kind of rough texture, the way that watercolor stick is picking up the texture. I am, I'm actually dipping the watercolor stick in water off camera, and I'm just kind of letting it glide over— whoa, that was not a glide— letting it glide over the paper here. I'm actually gonna blot some of that out, came out way too strong. I'm gonna have a little—
let's see, there we go.
I just want to blot some of that. Cool. So I'm picturing some kind of bridge structure here, so bridge, some cables. Maybe there's another bridge kind of up here as well happening. A Tale of Two Bridges, maybe that's what we'll call this one. What do you guys think of the name of that? A Tale of Two Bridges. I kind of like that actually. Let me write it so I don't forget. A Tale of Two Bridges. I'll forget, so I'm going to write it down. Tale of Two Bridges. It's kind of cool. I don't want to put any more watercolor stick on there right now. Um, your figure made me think of an actor who is visiting a stage that he used to perform on, reminiscing, kind of sad. Yeah, I could definitely see that. He does have that sad kind of slouch feeling. I was almost picturing like Ed Sullivan. I don't remember what he looks like. I was almost picturing like an Ed Sullivan kind of person on stage and it's cool that you picked up kind of like the hunched shoulder, you know, kind of effect. So, Patty, I love that you said that. So, I am all over the place. I'm calling this a Tale of Two Bridges. This painting, that's a sketch painting, and I'm talking about two paintings here. So tonight's show is a tale of two paintings. I keep showing the other one, we're talking about this one, so thanks for bearing with me. I'm all over the map, and I'm wearing— not art unless what? It's not art unless you wear it. I always make a mess with these watercolor sticks. I actually— actually, this is a Tale of Three Bridges. Becky says Lost City of Atlantis. Ooh, modern version. I like that, Becky. I like that. I like that. So if you look closely, this is actually a Tale of Three Bridges. I did I forgot that I actually put in a little sky bridge here. This is a sky bridge between the two buildings right there, so I guess we'll call it a Tale of Three Bridges. I just want to arch gives us a little more of an arch there at the bottom. Cool. I don't know how much more I want to do on this right now. I think I want to— I don't know what I want to do. Yeah, I think I'm going to leave it for a sec. Where's my cap? Uh-oh, where'd I put my cap? Right, here it is. I'm like, where'd I put my cap? Um, Portsmouth, New Hampshire has 3 bridges. They all cross the, uh, oh boy, you know, they all cross the Piscataqua Bridge over to Maine. Piscataqua Bridge, Piscataqua River over to Maine. Tribridge Borough. I like that. I like Tribridge Borough. That's kind of cool. I like that. I like that one. I might have to— I might have to use that one, Becky, if I have your permission. I like that one. I just want to use, uh, my precise pen and just kind of sketch these cables in a little bit. Just give them a little more definition. I'm using my broken line style. I'm going to talk about line types. I'm doing a broken one here so the cables look kind of loose. I don't want them to be incredibly pronounced. Time is 11 o'clock. All right, I'm gonna wrap up in a moment. Even though I have a 2-hour delay, I still need to get up a little bit late— a little bit, uh, I can get up a little later, but I still have stuff to do in the morning. I'm just ghosting some silhouettes back here, maybe some building silhouettes happening. Alright, cool. Um, Shorkan, awesome, thank you. Pisscut. Aqua. Aqua means water, right? Aqua means water. Does that mean fish river if you translate that into— it looks Italian, I don't know, or French. Maybe it means fishy river. I don't know. Fishy water river. I don't know. Maybe he wants to translate it. Let me know who close. I know, I think pesca is fish in Italian— in, uh, Spanish, pesca. So that's why I'm guessing. All right, cool. I think I'm gonna peel the tape off of here. I have enough line work on here for for now. I like all the white space, but I'm debating if I should just do a wash. I do a wash on top of the whole thing. I don't want to make it muddy going over the watercolor stick and graphite, so I'm not gonna do wash yet. You know what, my brain, let's see, we're gonna throw a little bit of— we're gonna throw a little sepia on here. This is creepy, like, it's like, I don't know, '50s sci-fi music or something. That dry time. Yeah, it's got to dry. We gotta let it dry, but I think I want to throw down— here's one. I'm gonna throw some water on here. I do want to add just some sepia in some places. I'm throwing down water. All right, now let me pick up some sepia with my 3/4-inch brush here and just kind of throw it down. Well, I'm not throwing it, I'm kind of placing it down. You guys can't see off-palette, so this is what I'm doing off-camera.
I have—
using my watercolor sepia marker, putting it just in my watercolor palette here and just lifting it a little bit, lifting it out and putting it on. I'm being kind of careful because I don't want the CPU to run over the graphite and the watercolor stick. I'm not going to put it everywhere, I don't think.
I think we'll just add a little bit more and that's it.
So what kind of birthday cake did you guys have? Let me know so I can eat vicariously through you. I hope someone had ice cream cake. Very cool. I think that's enough, um, enough paint on there. My brain is starting to shut down, so I'm gonna wrap up, I think. Clean up a little bit and maybe I'll pull the tape off. Uh, it's the most dangerous river on the East Coast. It means rapid water. Oh, okay. All right, I got the water part right. I'll take, I'll take that. Thank you for translating it. Now I know, now I know what it means. Uh, strawberry whipped cream cake. Scoop of Cherry Garcia on the side. Gracie Bird helped you eat it. That is so awesome that Gracie Bird is visiting with you on your birthday. So cool. Love it, love it, love it. Well, that sounds good to me. Love these tape paintings. The reveal is the best part. Yeah, again, I just threw down the tape on here. Kind of wishing I threw down more, but it's all right. Again, I'm just being— I'm just playing around the tape since I pat it out. Usually I wait till it's totally dry, but we'll peel it off. So I have done other, uh, tape paintings in the past. I should— I'll try to pull some of those out and show you guys sometime. Actually, I'm gonna— I should do a portfolio tour. I have a few portfolios here with a lot of artwork that you guys have never seen, and I really have not shown— a lot of people haven't seen a lot of it. So let me know if you want me to do a show and tell sometime. I'll definitely do it. They're bigger size paintings, like 18 by 24. A lot of them are abstract acrylic ink drip, the drip paintings I— you see me do sometimes. I went to drip paintings. There you go, boom, the reveal! Chocolate truffle cake with black Raspberry chocolate chip ice cream. I'm speechless. That sounds awesome. Wow, delicious, you guys. You deserve it. I'm so glad you guys had great birthdays. Yes, on 18x24s, please. Yeah, I'll do that. I'll show you, maybe I'll show you one before we head out tonight. You guys let me know if you want to see a painting or whistling. I'll either show a painting for my portfolio or the whistling cowboy. I think Becky wins. Um, Patty, yours sounded good, but you know what, I am not a huge strawberry fan. So Becky's cake, for me, Becky takes the cake with her cake. Just saying, she takes the cake with her cake, but I'm still jealous because you had cake. You can have your cake and eat it too. All right, I'm still working. I am still working on this painting. You guys have seen me do a little bit on this. This is my Gonna zoom way out. This is my watercolor I'm working on for the Polynesian. This is just gonna be something I play with over time. This could be an entire year, I don't know. I just visit it when I feel like it, but it's close by if I want to grab and go.
Okay.
Uh, my last birthday cake in my 40s. Oh, enjoy! Enjoy your last birthday cake in your 40s. That's so awesome. Happy birthday. I remember you working on a large painting when I first started watching you. The canvas was very tall. Uh, was it? I wonder if it was this one right here. I still have I haven't finished it. I'm not gonna be able to get a whole shot of it, but I'll show you what I can. Did you guys— let's see, I don't know if it was this one. You can't really see any of that, can you? Yeah, I don't know how I can show it. I put it against the wall. Let's see, let me see if I can move my camera. Just give me a sec.
So if I don't—
it might be upside down. I hope not. Let me see, how much of that can you guys see? I think it's upside down. Let me rotate the image. Zoom out as much as I can. I can't really get the whole thing in there, but— so this was a painting I did a while ago, still on foam board, it's not done yet. It's a drip painting. Shine this here so you can see it better. Uh, in drippy and mostly green. I have to find that one. It may have been this one. Yeah, so yeah, so this is the, uh, this is the Three Ships painting, drip painting. Uh, it's just one of those things that kind of transformed as I was doing it, and I saw some ships. This is 18 by 24. I saw some ship kind of forms and I'm trying to pull them out with watercolor stick. So I'm glad you guys said 3 ships because that's what it's supposed to be. So I'm picturing like 3 pirate ships maybe. Awesome, so I'm glad you guys have seen those ships. That's really cool. I go back a little further, you might be able to see more of it. Go back to the edge of my table. There you go, you can kind of see it's a little dark, but that's the whole piece. Uh, this is cool.
I don't—
I want to add a little more to it. I want to pull out, I think, the ships, show some planking on there. This is the back of a ship, so I want to show a little more detail on the back. Um, and I want to do something with flags maybe up top as well. Oh, the painter was as tall— a painter was almost as tall as me. Wow, I am drawing a blank. It'll hit me, it'll hit me. So there you go. So there's that piece there, the 3 ships coming soon to an ocean near you. All right, so you guys are probably seeing my floor right now. I have no idea where you're looking at.
All right, cool.
Um, I gotta rotate the camera. Let's see.
Boom, perfect.
Cool. I think it was leaning against the wall. Well, you have a good memory. A green painting almost as tall as me leaning against the wall. Oh yeah, I know. I think, I think, Patty, I think I'm thinking the Three Ships is the one I'm thinking that's the one because I did have it against— well, I had the easel against the wall I was working on. You got me thinking now. You got me thinking. Got me thinking, Lincoln. All right, I'm just putting some stuff back here, getting reorganized. I'm gonna wrap up.
Um, oh no, it's not that one.
Wow, it'll hit me.
Cool.
So here's this one. This is how it's looking, one from tonight. I don't think it's all on camera. There it is. Cool. So this one, I think I'll add some more ink stuff to it after it dries, a little more detail, and wrap this one up. I think it'll look cool. You're brave from your camera. John, GRS was having a small hard time. Oh no, had to postpone. Ah, I'm sorry to hear that. That stinks. That stinks. Sometimes we just we gotta do what we gotta do, and I wanted to show you, so I took a risk. I was living on the edge. I am looking— where's— let me look at one more spot here. Yeah, we'll have to do I want to do a— I wanted to do a gallery like showing this fall, this winter from home, just set up my artwork. I have some easels and things and do like a livestream gallery showing. If you guys think that'd be cool, let me know. It might be a fun way to do a show and tell and actually sell some paintings as well. As well. So it'll be like a little live gallery. I'll put paintings on easels in my room, my bigger room down there, and I'll talk about the paintings a little bit and some stories about, you know, what I was thinking when I was creating them, and then, um, try to sell them as well. Do you think that's a cool idea? You can be honest with me. If it sounds silly, that's okay. I have some really cool—
let's see, let's see, I'm just looking through this.
Guys, I'm not going to see all this stuff, but I can show you a smidgen. This stuff's all on a portfolio, but I can show you just some partial portfolio stuff. So, these are some things in a portfolio I have here. Awesome colors. Gallery show sounds cool. Oh, awesome.
Cool.
This makes me think of that little island in NYC. That's so cool. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. Oh, maybe you're talking about the one we did tonight, maybe. So here's some pieces right here. So very abstract. I'm going to flip through them. So I was— I'm always intrigued by trying to create figures. Especially these abstract kind of things. So you'll notice in a lot of these you'll see some figure kind of shapes happening, these drip paintings. So there's, you know, a figure here, there's a figure kind of happening here as well. This is my Sideways Island picture. This is a sketching a portrait. Oh, this is the empty one I have. The other one has all stuff in it. Actually, if I turn it around this way, this might work too. Let's move the water. No, I can't see the other side.
Wah wah wah.
All right, that's the show and tell for today. Hey, you guys are awesome. The painting you just set aside with the bridges could be Roosevelt Island with the Tramp. Uh, this one here, maybe? That would be cool. Awesome colors, thank you. Yeah, I love when you guys see stuff in these paintings, it brings you to places. That's why I love doing these loose cityscapes, because you can put yourself anywhere you want to be when you see it. That's what's fun for me, very fun. Um, all right, so you mentioned New York City. Let's play this last song here It's called Voices of Harlem. Yeah, this one, cool. All right, so I'm gonna peel the tape off of this. I think it's— I'm not gonna add any more washes to it, so let's peel the tape off and we'll wrap up. Here's the big reveal. Feel free to watch it on my TikTok channel in slow motion. I'll be posting it. Make sure I got a good view so I can get some TikTok footage. Peel it slow. And I, I did say TikTok, by the way. I just say not TikTak, TikTok. Tic Tacs or something different. I started a TikTok channel. I only have a few videos on there. I'm not sure if I'm going to stay on TikTok because when I log on to make TikTok to put stuff, I am like seeing videos of things I really don't want to be seeing, to be honest with you. I know there are some artists and things on TikTok, but I don't know if it's the algorithms because I'm new to TikTok. The stuff that pops up is— I don't want to be opening that stuff up in front of people. It's just really weird stuff. But anyway, there you go. That looks cool with the tape removed. Look at that. I like this. All I need is a little more ink detail and this is done. Pretty cool. "That large painting in your portfolio looks like a sea and a— a sea turtle." Sea and then I can't say the word. Sea anemone. I, I will show you guys. I'll do the gallery showing. I'll put it out there. I'll invite you guys. Hopefully the Inklings can make it. That would be so cool. I'd love to have you guys pop in. I kind of want to have someone like there in the room with me that can— I can have a conversation with. Maybe someone could ask me questions, or you guys could ask questions, uh, when I'm showing stuff. To make it a little more interactive. You don't want to hear me like just talking.
Cool.
Maybe we can do it on Zoom, and if you guys want to ask questions on Zoom, that would be cool too. Wicked cool. Hey, yeah, this turned out wicked cool. Thank you guys for watching. I appreciate you all so, so much. It's 11:24. Fingers crossed, no day tomorrow. 2-hour delay, it's a good start. This is called the Dark Wizard. Hey guys, you're awesome, have a fantastic— yeah, yes, Zoom night. Thank you guys for signing up for the workshop as well, appreciate you so much. I'm looking really excited about it, I think it's gonna be a fun one. They're all fun but I think this will be cool because you guys know I'm a Disney freak. With their architecture and design stuff, so it'll be a lot of fun. Um, thank you guys so much. Have a great, great night. If I do have— if I do have off tomorrow, I will pop on maybe tomorrow afternoon. Yeah, this looks— I'm just looking at this piece. I think this looks really cool. Awesome. Hey, D-Ray, have Have a great day. It's good seeing you. Hope all's well. Good night, guys. Peace and live creatively. I will see you on the flippity flip, on the flippity flip. And again, happy birthday, Patty, and happy belated, Becky. Um, we'll have a Zoom birthday party for everybody. Uh, we should have an Inkling, Inkling birthday club. Club. All right guys, take care.
