Hey, Jeannie, how are you? Hope you're having a great, great day. Good to see you. Becky, good to see you as well. Hope you guys are doing awesome on this Thursday evening. My light turned off behind me, which means it's 10 o'clock. It's on a timer. Popping on kind of late, just wanted to do some sketching before I go to sleep. Yeah, you know how it goes. Sometimes you just have the urge to create. And let's— I figured let's do it. Let's get some sketching up before I go to bed. Hope you guys are having a great, great day and a great evening. Cool, so I'm doing a little something different tonight. No cityscapes. We are out traveling somewhere with mountains. This music is kind of like Highlands type music. And I felt like doing like maybe a mountainscape or something. I don't really— you guys don't really see me doing too many things like this on air, but I do love sketching landscapes as well as buildings. I feel I'm much better at buildings, but it's always fun creating abstract kind of places in my imagination. Now I'm just using a Lamy pen with some Lamy ink, water, my aquabrush, and a graphite stick. I'm actually dipping my graphite stick in water. Cool. Hey, Becky says, "Driving through the White Mountains National Forest today. Road trip with my son." Oh, that's awesome, Becky. White Mountains National Forest sounds like a really beautiful place. I'm not familiar with it, but I'm sure it was beautiful and Especially with the leaves, the fall foliage. I'm sure it was spectacular. Very, very cool. So I'm sketching just some little tiny buildings here in the distance. Maybe this is a body of water here. Winter scene, maybe frozen ice, some reflections happening. You know, kind of townscape. Small houses over here. Actually, these look, these look like penguins. They're supposed to be buildings, but they kind of look like penguins to me. This is fun music.
Love it.
Cool, I like the way it's looking. Hey Jacqueline, good to see you. It snowed here today. It's still snowing, holy cow. Keep warm, keep warm. I like, I actually, I like the first snowfall or two here in New Jersey. It looks so beautiful. I'm not liking the shoveling so much. I used to love it when I was younger. Snow is beautiful. Awesome. Yeah, Becky, my 3D printer is printing. Working in the background. You hear, you hear robot sounds, droid sounds. It's not R2-D2 in the house. I wish it was R2. It's a 3D printer. I'm, uh, 3D printing one of my students' projects tonight at home. We didn't have time to do it in school. So they're still working on their mini golf course obstacles, and next week we're building the golf holes, and Thanksgiving week we're gonna have the mini mini golf course, ready to go. So it'll be a lot of fun. Um, yeah, it's a 3D printer. I wish I could show you guys it, but it's, uh, it's all the way over there. My room's trashed right now. Um, I will show you, I will do a 3D printing demonstration if you guys would like to see that sometime. Kind of cool. I'll show you how I could take a sketch of a building or something and make it into a a 3D printed object. That would be kind of cool. Uh, snow? Oh no, I hope we don't see any this year. Genie does not want snow. Hey D-Ray, good to see you. Yeah, it's a 3D printer. That's so funny. I was thinking about just coming on and drawing and kind of muting tonight so you didn't hear, um, the background noises, but think of it as Music. Think of it as technological music. Creative. Techno— technological creativity music. There you go. So I'm liking this. I'm really liking this little sketch.
It's kind of fun.
And I'm going to let this dry. I do want to do something on a sketch I did last night— no, not last night, the night before. Yes, please, 3D printer. Cool, yeah, I'll do a 3D printing demo for you guys. That would be really cool. I definitely will do it. And when I do that, I will post an announcement so it will be like a scheduled livestream so you guys can know what I'm doing. Almost sounds like a small— I wish it was a small puppy. At least I don't have to take this one for a walk. Although 3D printers can be really fussy. Let me, uh, maybe we'll brave it and show you guys the printer. Let's see, can I do this? No, because then I gotta move the camera. All right, I won't be able to show you tonight. I will do a 3D printing demo sometime. In the near future. Jacqueline, hey, you love this. Thank you, Jacqueline. I hope you really— this is a cool little sketch here. I don't think I'm going to add any colors. I'm just going to stick with the pen and the graphite. Let's see, I'm not sure what else I want to add to it. I'm going to let it dry for a little bit and then come back and add some more to it. Cool. So this is on watercolor paper, 140-pound. This is Canson XL, my go-to watercolor paper, and it's a larger sheet than I usually— excuse me— I usually have my little sketchbook. This is— what is this, 8 by 10? I think I was on— my brain is turned off right now.
6—
oh no, it's 12. Yeah, it's 9 by 12. This is a 9 by 12 sheet of paper. Yes, love the black and white. This piece has kind of an Asian feel. Ooh, that's interesting. I could see that, Becky. I could see it with the mountains in the background. Really cool that you said that. Awesome. Alright, I'm gonna let this dry. I'm gonna pull out a sketch I did on Tuesday. I've been wanting to add to this one. Let me see. Oh, not— I don't want to work on this one tonight, but this— if you saw me working on this Tuesday, here's what it looks like. It's dried since then. I'm going to zoom in. I love this sketch. I love the looseness. I love the colors of it. Um, it's just— and just some magical things that happen with watercolor and ink washes. I love what's happening back in here. I didn't plan this, it just kind of happened. So if you didn't watch the video, the live stream, you can go on my, my YouTube— yeah, I think it's on YouTube channel as well as here on Facebook— and go back and watch the replay of it. But this is turning out really awesome. I'm gonna come back and add some ink details on top of this. I'm gonna save that for another night. Pretty cool. And I actually restocked it on some pink. Got some more fluorescent pink ink. So that'll be fun to throw on here. All right, this is the one I wanted to add to. So this dried, this was from the other night as well. This is ink and then this is Payne's Gray acrylic paint in the background. So you have a kind of a nice mixed media piece. I've been having fun just playing with some blue and gray, black and white and gray tones. But what I did want to add to this— let me, guys, let me know in the chat, what do you think? Could really use your feedback. I've been wanting to add some kind of yellow highlighters, maybe just to indicate some kind of lighting. There's a nighttime scene, so there's some lights on in the buildings, so I would add some yellow highlight here and there just to make it pop. Or do you just like it this way? Should I leave it black, white, and no yellow? Let me know in chat. Put yellow or no yellow. Love to know what you guys think. Something beautiful. You guys are beautiful. Thank you for watching. You guys are amazing. I think you need to add to this piece. Okay, Zach was thinking yellow lights. All right. You guys want— you guys think yellow? Yellow, yes! Yellow's winning. Couple options, I might go with yellow highlighter, yellow colored pencil if I can find it. I'm gonna throw my pencils— Let's see. Oh, there's some yellow here. You know what? Sometimes when I think too much, I think too much. I should just go for it. Just mess around with it. Yuri is like, "Hmm." I'm gonna change the music up a little bit. So we're going from the Highlands to, um, I love this, I call it the epic soundtrack. I love using this when I'm doing city types of themes. If I can find it.
Where is it?
I'm looking on my playlist. It is here somewhere. Oh, I called it Hero Tracks.
My bad. Uh, let's see, what do we want to listen to?
I know, I know I love this. This is one of my favorite pieces to sketch to. Here we go, let's throw on some highlighter. Make sure it's cleaned off here.
Scrap piece.
There we go. Cool. There we go. So we have some pops of yellow on there now. Oh yes, yellow makes it pop. Wow, yellow really adds atmosphere. Oh yes, yellow makes it pop. Yellow really brings it to life. Awesome. It sounds like I made a good choice with the yellow. I don't want to overdo it. I kind of like how it's kind of sporadic. Love that word, sporadic. Um, I have a sign here. I wanted to write something on it. What should I write on the cityscape? Any ideas? Maybe it's a billboard for something right in here. It's from the lettering on it. I should put the bat signal in here. Jason, there you go. Gene says, looks like it's done to me. Yeah, that's enough yellow. I agree. Jason is there. Or how about we could put ink— how about Inklings? I do want to add some more pen work to this. Let's try Mr. Sharpie here. I just want to create some texture on this building. Real light line work. Zoom in a little bit. So I'm just drawing really light lines in here, doing some kind of brickwork. I think the Sharpies— my Sharpies have been drying out really fast. I'm not sure why. So I'm picturing this being somewhere in Gotham City. I'm a huge Batman fan. I'm always trying to kind of recreate, create my own version of Gotham. There you go, I think it just adds a little texture to it.
Cool.
And I think I want to add some texture over— I kind of like how this is blank, but let's add some texture. Just drawing very, very light lines. A bat signal is always fun. Yeah, I can see a bat signal somewhere in the sky up in here. That's kind of cool. Cat burglar creeping across the rooftop. Yeah, yeah, I like that also. Adding to the story, right? Um, that's something I would kind of look at a reference image of, sketch a little figure or something, so I could definitely add that at some point. Good ideas, guys. Good ideas. Should we put— should we put Inklings or Jason somewhere?
Let's put Inklings. Okay, may not be able to fit it, but that's all right.
I got the G, I got the Inkling. It's the Inkling Building. I left the S off the end for savings. Isn't that a commercial? Some company leaves the S off the end for savings. Things. No, I'm just going to fit it in my face. That's okay. Inkling's cool. It's the Inkling building. Cool. There we go. Uh, make the S on another side falling off. Ooh, that's a cool idea.
I like that.
Let's do that. Make the S on another side falling off. Let's see. I like that. I like that.
Mira is—
Mira is having a tumble or something. Uh, or this hanging down the side of the sign. Yeah, that could work also too. Love your creativity, that's awesome, keep bringing it on. Yeah, lettering is tricky business.
I agree.
Spacing it and all that, I definitely didn't map it out. Lettering is a true art form. Calligraphy is— calligraphy is an amazing, amazing art form. I wish I could do it. So if any of you guys can do calligraphy, kudos to you. Calligraphy blows my mind. I have the world's worst handwriting. "Very cool drawing." Hey, thanks, Jeannie. Yeah, it is a cool drawing. I don't think I really want to add much more to it. I kind of like where it is right now. 10:30, so I'm gonna wrap up in a few minutes. I got school tomorrow. D-Ray says, "I like." Ooh, Jacqueline used to do calligraphy. How awesome is that? I'll show you, this is the extent of my— this is a cool sketch from the other night. I really like it. This is my— I'm trying to revive my old signature. So I came up with this signature in like 2015. I'm starting to reuse it again. It has— I don't know, I'm trying to have like an edge or kind of an urban graffiti kind of vibe to it. I don't know if you guys— let me know if you like that signature. It's kind of what it looks like. Anyway, let's see. I'll show you my horrible calligraphy skills. I don't know.
See if I can make—
So yeah, I don't do calligraphy. This point really isn't for calligraphy.
Calligraphy can be really amazing.
That's why I don't do calligraphy. Something that takes a lot of— calligraphy takes a lot, a lot, a lot of a lot of practice. Yes, artsy signature. Awesome, you like the artsy signature? Cool, thanks. So this is supposed to be— I love doing swirly O's, and it's really supposed to kind of form a heart shape here. So this is a— this is 2015. This is kind of one of the original ones I did. So that's kind of the inspiration image. So that's, uh, this is 2015 where I was headed. So I'm trying to bring this— trying to bring this signature back just for fun. Why not? Alright, cool guys, so I'm gonna get ready to wrap up. We have this we worked on. Let's see how our big sketch is drying. This is drying pretty awesomely. I'm really restraining myself. I wanted to break out some color tonight, but I'm gonna save color for another night. Nice! Now that one is awesome. Hey, thank you. How'd you like that signature? Good night, Jeannie. Good night. Great seeing you. Have a great, great night. I'm actually gonna head off. I'm gonna put the Whistling Cowboy song on and do the last sketch and head out because I need a good night's sleep. Tomorrow is the last day of our first marking period at school, so I have some grading I gotta catch up on. Um, we're a quarter A quarter through the school year already. Pretty amazing. I love the way this is looking, guys. I kind of want to do something in the background with the white. I'm thinking a very, very pale gray, almost maybe something like you see here. Very light gray wash in the background. Or I could go the opposite it make it a very dark wash. I think I do.
I think I want to do the light.
Cynthia looks like seated woman with pink ponytail.
Let's see. Seated woman with a pink ponytail.
I'm looking, I'm looking. Oh, I can kind of see I see what you're saying. That's interesting. That is so funny that you said that. Really, that's cool. Alright, let's break out the whistling cowboy sketchbook. Alright, so, get ready to switch to music in a minute. So when we last left the Whistlehead Cowboy in retro, we were chilling, walking down the street, wearing this last one. So it's time to do another video flip through. I did one of the first sketchbooks here. If you didn't check that out, check out my YouTube channel. There's me one day, I was following along with Rue one day. I have a bunch of cowboy sketches in this book here. One day, I think the next go-round, we'll do an animated flipbook of the cowboy. How cool would that be? Eric will do one of those animated flipbooks where you just go like this and the cowboy will move and stuff. That'd be fun. So that'll be the next round. Okay, that was the last round. This was the last one. Don't mind me, I'm all over the place. This song always makes me want to sketch. Cool. Alright guys, we got the Whistling Cowboy. Yes, arms kind of hugging her knees. Yeah, yeah, kind of like curled up. Alright, I'm gonna cut that off and let's go right to the cowboy. Sometimes I'll put the choir music on as like a cool-down period, cool-down music. We're gonna go right to the cowboy. Guys, thank you for watching. I appreciate you. Have an awesome Friday tomorrow. I will see some of you guys in the workshop on Saturday night. I'm looking forward to it. I am seeing amazing sketches of the Sydney Opera House. Becky, I love your sketches as well of the, oh my gosh, the Florence Cathedral. So really cool stuff, and I will definitely give some pointers on sketching the cathedral. Maybe we'll do it together in class, and we'll talk about the Sydney Opera House. So thank you guys. Yeah, flipbooks are cool. Yeah, they really are. You guys have a great, great night. Peace. It's cowboy time.
I'm just gonna pick that one.
Sharpie's kind of dead, but we're gonna go with it. We're starting with the cowboy first. I don't usually do that. I don't usually talk either while I'm doing these. My printer is singing in the background.
Here we go, guys.
Have a great, great night. Take care. Appreciate y'all. Peace, live creatively, see you soon. Great seeing all you guys too. D-Ray, always great to see you. And Jacqueline, thanks for tuning in. Becky, Jeannie, I really appreciate you guys watching and putting your names in the comment, putting comments on here. If I missed anybody, you're awesome too. Good night. Thank you for the hearts.
