LIVE : NYC - A smidge of the High Line

In this unscripted YouTube livestream, the host takes viewers on a brief, on‑the‑fly walk along a small section of New York City’s High Line. While strolling, he points out and comments on the connector bridge’s heavy‑timber and steel construction, nearby skyline icons such as the Empire State Building, The Edge (Avengers Building), and the Moynihan Train Hall, and various public artworks and billboards. He shares his personal “grab‑and‑go” creative philosophy, encourages viewers to subscribe for more architectural sketching content, and introduces a sketch‑workshop collaborator, the artist Mel (Instagram: Sketches and Some). The stream includes casual interaction with the chat, mentions of technical hiccups (e.g., Nightbot), and a closing invitation to “sketch boldly, live creatively, and embrace imperfection.”

quick with a smidge, a smidge, a really small taste of the High Line here. Um, just kind of turn around. Yeah, so it's Saturday, nice quiet here right now, windy day. And I'm just taking a quick walk just in this small section. I have to get somewhere fairly soon, so I just wanted to pop on and give you a taste of the High Line. Stick with me, we'll walk a little bit, okay? Yep. Yeah, so it's Saturday. Sligat. I'm going to walk to the end of this section here. Um, we'll see what's up. I love the High Line. This is just a small spur of it. I could literally spend the entire day in this whole area. I love it so much. So sorry, I have a camera. I don't have my gimbal. So bear with me, we'll walk to the end of this, um, and then you'll see where we're headed after that. So just stick with me. Get some of these flowers in bloom. That's good. I will definitely come back here with my gimbal, do a really nice smooth kind of walk around. So I love this. This is a really cool connector bridge. Artwork as well. So we're going to head across the bridge. I'm headed towards, uh, Manhattan West. All the way in the background, you can't really see it, is the tip of the ESB as we head towards Manhattan West. Sure, here's a good view of that. That's a really cool connector bridge across there. Hey Jen, good to see you. Hope all's well. Hope you're having a great day. Hey, if you're watching, everybody, thank you for tuning in. This is kind of unscripted here. I wasn't gonna livestream, but I'm in New York City right now and, uh, just want to take my phone out for a minute or two. Uh, if you like this, you like architecture, like architectural sketching, like, subscribe. I'd love for you to join this channel. Um, usually I have smoother videos. With a gimbal and stuff, but you know what, I like to say grab and go creativity. Just grab and go with whatever you have. This is what I got me, awesome phone. Let's look up here, guys. There's the Avengers Building, aka The Edge. Really cool lookout, although I've never been there. Uh, I'd like to get up there one day. It's an observation deck. As an architect, I'm always looking at the building materials. I love, you know, the rusted copper kind of grated floor here. I love this wood heavy timber construction. I think this bridge is really magnificent. Right, so we have steel connectors, heavy timber. There's kind of a view down the road. Hello, Komi and Arkowsky. Sorry if I said that wrong. It's a bit windy here today, so you're probably hearing some weird sounds. Dying a little bit. It was really windy earlier where I was, for sure. This is a cool art piece. I really— I don't know anything about it, but it's kind of a billboard. One of the things I love about NYC is just the discovery of cool artwork scattered throughout the city. So we're just crossing this. We're headed towards what's called Manhattan West. Uh, shops around here, nice plaza space as well. So it's a real cool area. You see the ASB back there. Okay, I don't know about Homelander, but that's cool. Um, you guys see the Empire State Building all the way back there? How awesome! That's a cool glimpse of it. Love that building. All right, let's continue. We'll just kind of walk around Manhattan West. Thanks for sticking with me, guys. I know it's a little cheeky. But you know what, I'm all about embracing imperfection. I'm just being human right now, not a videographer, just capturing what I can in the moment, including the wind. Here's a— here's the back side of that billboard, another artwork. Pretty cool. I'm gonna keep walking. I, I can get a better view of the Empire State Building. I go to the end of the plaza here. Let's see, we'll get there and then we'll wrap up. Let me know in the chat, do you like NYC? Do you have a favorite building? NYC. Place to hang out, maybe it's a park or something. It doesn't matter, whatever you like. There's something for everybody. 100%. Whole Foods Market right here. Boom. Here we go. Here's, uh, here's what I wanted to show you. Yes. Me check this out. Move the camera closer. Doesn't get better than this, man. Check that out. You can see it right there between the trees. We'll get We'll get closer. This guy's a really cool artist, by the way. His name is Mel. Mel is an amazing, amazing sketcher. Hey Mel, how are you? It's good to see you. Mel is incredible. He's so gifted at sketching, and I'm actually taking a workshop with him today. So it's always fun to come out and sketch with talented people and learn something new. Check him out. He's on Instagram at Sketches and Some. Sketches and Some. I'll post a link at some point, but here you go. There's ESB, but we're gonna go down to the corner where you can see the full building. So if you want to stick with me for another minute, we'll walk there. Straight ahead is Parramatta Station. Just love coming to NYC first thing in the morning. It's just so quiet. Believe it or not, that's the Moynihan Train Hall in front of us. Yeah, uh, I haven't been in the new section there, so I have to get in there at some Nightbot is sleeping. That's good. Lots of sleep. Nightbot has not been our friend. I don't know what's up with the Nightbot. Maybe I need to shut down Nightbot. And if you guys are watching, just give me a thumbs up. I'd love that. Well, if you like what you see, of course. Here we go. Kind of just a— it's kind of framed by the buildings, which is awesome. I'll get a picture of it. All right, that's it for now. Until we meet again, sketch boldly, live creatively, and embrace imperfection. I appreciate you. Thank you. Awesome, awesome day.
