LIVE : Quick Walk

Jason Nicholas walks his dog Olivia and talks about using Monday as a reset day. He calls his walks a "nature Met Gala" and explains how repeating the same routes sharpens what you notice, turning everyday details into a mental game that fights boredom.

I hope you're having a great day today. I'm just out for a quick walk with my pup. We're actually headed back to the car, but I wanted to check in and just do a quick, uh, hike and mic. I'm having a really great day today. There she is. So it's Monday, new week, new beginnings, right? New energy, new focus, new priorities. Yeah, Monday is a great reset day. I know we've heard it before, but it's true. Actually, each day is good for resetting in one way or another, right? I'm just glad to be out here walking around after a busy day today and, um, just enjoying a little bit of nature. Cars zipping up and down the road behind me. Yeah, so some people are live streaming from the Met Gala tonight in New York City, an incredibly sophisticated event where people are dressed to the nines and money, money, money, which is— it's a cool, cool event. I've never seen it in person, but I've seen some live streams. It's pretty cool. I am in Oppositeville right now. This is my Gawa. And it's good. This is where I need to be right now. It's kind of peaceful, quiet. And, uh, just join me for a minute or so as we walk towards the way out. Let me know where you are, where you're watching from, if you have any questions, comments. Also, if you like kind of just this quick walk outside, give me a thumbs up. Join me later on the Inspired Life YouTube channel right here for some live sketching. It'll be fun. I'm not sure what we're gonna sketch tonight, but we'll break up our— some pens, our sketchbook, and do a little sketching. My pup is very strong. Oh my gosh. There's a field down there, people are playing. I think there's a soccer game going on. Um, I just love to look at the light back there in the distance, kind of shining on the hill. So cool. Again, this is not New York City, not the Met Gala, which people are live streaming from, which is amazing. But I am meeting nature. This is my Met Gala. I never met a nature I didn't like. Cool. Check out this vine, all kind of twisted here. It's so cool. The more I walk in the same places, the more things I notice. And I think I trained my eyes visually just to be able to pick up on different things as I'm walking. Instead of being kind of numb to being in the same place, I'm always looking for different things. So I'm always challenging my brain, my eyes, just to look around at more details, you know, even if it's just a rock, just the shape of the rocks. It's just there's so many things to always see in our world, but it's hard to see them when we're always looking down with our phone. Right, our heads are down, we're looking at our phones, walking. Um, look up when you're walking. Look up, look around, take it in. It's— for me, it's just really an amazing way to process the world around me and to get the vibe of the world around me. And I guess that's the message of today's hike and Mike is You know, walk around and observe. Be, be an observer, an active, active observer in your world. Try to look for things, um, make it into like a game with your brain and your senses and your eyes to sense, look for, and experience different things, even if it's the same environment that you're always in. You know, sometimes we kind of feel bored being in the same place, and that's okay. That boredom is just part of simply being human. But maybe we can use it as a challenge, right, to stimulate our curiosity in new ways. All right, guys, if you like this, give me a thumbs up. Please subscribe to the channel for more walks and talks like this, or New York City live streaming. Um, also for my architectural sketching, I'd love for you to always join in. We'll be doing a sketch live tonight, probably around 9 o'clock PM Eastern time, somewhere around there. Can't promise. I'd love to see you back then. So I'm heading out. It's me and the pup here. Olivia! She's awesome. All right guys, until we walk again, sketch boldly. Live creatively and inspire endlessly. See you soon.
