Jason Nicholas paints the Swan Resort at Walt Disney World with watercolor, using an Aqua Brush and a limited palette of blues and orange. He keeps it loose and expressive by diluting colors, blotting pigment, and skipping close reference to the actual building.

Hello, so here's a quick sketch I just did, just try to capture the top of this, um, structure here. And I'm going to dip into some watercolor, so join me for a few minutes here as I just add some color. Going to grab some aqua here. So I'm using an Aqua Brush today, which is really convenient, easy for me to carry around. Um, yeah, so I'm not trying to replicate all the colors that are here. I do want to just pick up the blues maybe on my sketch a little bit. And, um, be loose and whimsical with it. And I'm going to throw down, I think, some orange as well. I'm just using whatever colors I have in my palette here. It's a little too bright, so I'm just gonna dilute it a little bit more. I'm actually probably gonna blot some of this off. I do want to keep this looking pretty loose, so I'm not going to add color everywhere. I'm not— I'm honestly not even looking at the actual building right now. I'm just looking at the paper. That way it keeps my mind a little freer and I can add whatever colors I want without worrying about what is really there. Um, I think I'm liking that. That might be all the color I'm going to add. I'll come back and put some— probably some shadows on with some hatch lines and stuff. So there you go. That's just a couple of minutes. Thanks so much. I will see you soon.
