This is a YouTube live-stream titled "Live streaming of The INKspired Life (Jason)" (created 2024-09-14) featuring Jason Nicholas hosting a solo, informal sketching/demo session. Jason works on a Brooklyn Bridge–inspired mixed-media sketch—using Sharpies, inks, watercolor, Sharpie Creative markers and colored pencils—while narrating his process, offering tips (hatching, broken lines, marker handling), showing his dog, and inviting viewers to comment. The recording is an outdoor, playful art tutorial/stream rather than a multi-person conversation.

Hey everybody. Jason here from the Ink Spired Life Outside doing some quick sketching. I'm working on this sketch I started the other night. So it'd be fun to sit outside for a few minutes and add some more to it. Let me know where you're watching from. So this is a sketch that's inspired or inkspired by the Brooklyn Bridge. So first layer is some Sharpie on there. I added some inks and watercolor and today I'm going to add some more ink. I'll pop out some of the shapes on there and I have some Sharpie creative markers out here with me as well and a colored pencil. So I did bring. I kind of have some other things over here as well I could use. But yeah, this is just kind of spur of the moment and I was gonna be out here doing this, so I thought I would just live stream for a few minutes. This is cool. I really like the way the color is dried on here. It looks pretty interesting. So I want to pull out some of the shadows. But you know what, let's. All right, let's do some of the ink here and then I'll come back in and we'll add some of the creative markers. So I'm just kind of doing scribbling, hatching underneath here to give some shadow under the bridge. And I'll add some more lines to give the arches here some depth as well. Cool. Let me add American flag. There's usually a flag up here on the bridge. Just throw a little flag up here. So the ink I'm using in this pen, it looks like it's a grayish color. So I'm not sure exactly what color it is, but I like it. Awesome. Alright, so we got some of the ink on there. I'm itching to use some creative markers. Let's see what happens. This is about just being playful and throwing things down on here. Let's see. I'm gonna break out some blue. I rarely use blue, but here's a Sharpie creative marker. I love these things. I think they come in smaller tip sizes. This might be the medium tip. You can see it there. I think they may call it the bullet tip. Oh, I actually just even noticed. Here's a pro tip. I totally just noticed this. I don't think the camera's gonna pick it up. It says across here it says store horizontally. So sometimes you or I wonder, you know, do we put them vertically like this? But this is actually recommending to lay down flat. So that's really good to know. So I will do that. I'm outside of my deck today using my iPhone to stream little makeshift table situation. It's beautiful out. I wanted to get some fresh air. My pup is out here as well. Here you can see our pup a little bit. Where is she? There she is. The pups out here lounging, so I figured lounge out here with her. These Sharpie Creative markers cover so well, and I could color this solid in here. Give a little close up, I could color that solid, but I'm purposely leaving some spacing in between. That helps keep that loose, sketchy kind of look. I do want some of that brown ink to show through. That's underneath. I probably should have left a little bit more, but that's okay. And you can kind of see it's almost like a. Just a horizontal or not horizontal diagonal lines. I'm just kind of like that. Hopefully the picture is okay. This little tripod thingy seems to be working pretty well. I do kind of wish I had the smaller tip Creative marker, so maybe down the road, I will invest in some of those. I think this blue really is helping to just make the shaded shadow areas a little bit darker. I like the way they're popping out. Let's do some on the side here. Cool. I think that's gonna be enough of the blue on there. They dry pretty quickly. Being outside here, they should dry even faster. I have another Creative marker. Have this color. It doesn't say the color names on here, but the caps will definitely show you what color it is. So let's add some of this. You know what? Let me try. I want to pull out some of these cables here. So we have some of this structural cables. I think this is helping to pop them out, make it a little more fun. Oh, I'm liking that. I don't want to overdo it. Let's just do a little swoosh kind of here. All right, so I'm liking that. I think that's enough for that to bring the cables out. And then while I was doing that, the color yellow popped into my brain. So I do have a yellow marker. Let's try the yellow. Let's see. These markers are cool. You don't have to shake them before you use them. There are other paint markers that you have to shake first. I kind of like not having to shake these just for fun. Let's. Where do I want to do this? Maybe on this side. Let me see if I can get some of these cables popping out. They're hard to see right now, so let's do this. Here we go. I'm actually sketching sitting down. I rarely am sitting when I'm sketching. It feels weird. I'm usually up at my standing studio workspace. There we go. Got some yellow. Let me pull some of that yellow across maybe to kind of tie it over here. Maybe. Maybe I'll tie some just across here. There we go. When I put that yellow down over here, if you look at the lines or the line, it's not a continuous, solid line here with the yellow. I did kind of a. I call it Morse code line. Has some dashes and dots to it or a broken line. And I do that because I want to keep a sketchy look, and that helps me to keep it loose. So if I did a continuous, solid line, it would really pop that yellow line out more. But I want it to be loose and broken, so I did that intentionally. You can tell a lot. You can use lines to your advantage. I have a couple videos where I talk about different line types, and I should. I'll probably put together another one just to summarize everything. This is looking pretty awesome. What else do I want to add on here? Let me see. If anybody's out there in chat land and you're saying hello or have questions, feel free to put them in chat. I can't see the comments right now, and I will definitely go back and look later. So feel free to leave a comment, question, say hello, all that fun stuff. Do I break out red? I. I'm gonna go for it. I do have a red creative marker, but I love to use my pilot pen for anything red. So let's do that. Maybe we'll throw some red. Maybe up in here. It's really loose. A little bit of red. I do want to show some crisscrossing along the kind of guardrails here of the bridge. And I think the last thing was just show some horizontal lines here for the block work on the bridge. Just keeping it really loose, kind of wavy, wonky looking. All right, I think that's a wrap for this one, guys. So here's Brooklyn Bridge inspired sketch. Loving the way it came out. I love the mixed media on here. And thank you so much for watching. I will be back soon. Remember, you two can sketch architecture one line at a time.
