In this informal live sketching session, the creator demonstrates a rapid, loose drawing of a utilitarian building while narrating his thought process. He uses a Lockbie Field Journal, a binder clip to hold pages, and acknowledges a low camera battery, emphasizing speed over precision. The primary purpose of these quick sketches is to imprint the moment, atmosphere, and feeling of a place into memory rather than achieve technical accuracy. He explains that architecture, being stationary, is easier to capture than moving subjects, and that the loose, wonky style serves as a mental anchor that he later refines using photos and videos. The video concludes with a reminder to embrace sketchy, fast drawing as a form of relaxation and documentation.

Hello, hope you're having an amazing day today. Back again. I'm going to do a quick sketch of this building right here. I actually started, but let me start over. I'm going to see if I can sketch quick online live. Talk about what's in my brain as I'm sketching this. While I'm doing that, take a look. So I have my Lockbie Field Journal with me. Love, love, love my Lockbie stuff. Just flip a page here. You may have noticed I have a binder clip. Ta-da! Pro tip for me is I like to use binder clips to help hold pages down. So let's see, I'm gonna do a quick sketch here. I'm holding a camera and sketching and my battery is running out, so this is going to be super duper quick. And I don't mind that it's quick. I don't mind that it's loose. I don't mind if it looks crazy and wonky. That's fine. What's gonna happen while I'm sketching this, it's gonna help me to remember this day, this moment in time. That's one of the reasons I love capturing architecture. I'm sorry, capturing architecture, capturing locations with sketches, quick sketches. It kind of imprints it into my brain, the moment, the time I was here. This is really super duper wonky, and again, that's fine because I will come back, I'll sketch it again. I have photographs of this, I have videos of it. So for me, my first site sketches aren't about accuracy, it's really about just being in the moment, just sketching, capturing the feeling, the sounds. I'll just let you guys listen to the sounds for a few minutes here. So don't be afraid to be, um, sketchy, loose, wonky. There you go. Like I said, really fast and loose. And I'll sketch this again. I'll sketch it live, or I'll video it, and you guys will see. I'll slow it down a bit and I'll sketch it a little bit cleaner, more, more closer to my style. But this is a very just cool utilitarian building here. Sketching architecture for me is just a great way just to kind of unwind. And one of the reasons I love sketching architecture, it doesn't move. Well, most architecture doesn't Right, it's stationary. So, uh, for me, sketching a building is easier than trying to capture people that are moving around. Cool. And you can see I'm just really fast, loose. That's it, guys. That— thank you for watching. Have a great, great rest of your Okay.
