Hey, how you doing? Jason Nicholas Nicholas from The Inspired Life. Hope you're having an awesome day. It is, um, Sunday, October 5th, 2025. Yeah, I forgot what day it was. Angel, great to see you on YouTube. Hope all is well. And, uh, also on Instagram, I see DRT Jung. Great to see you as well. Um, yeah, popping on here kind of late. Um, it's been busy. It's been grading, doing schoolwork, and I'm done with that. I need to get my brain into a different place. Before I go to sleep. So I love sketching. It's a great way for me just to kind of chill out, um, yeah, and kind of lay low a little bit. So, um, if you have any questions, let me know. It's always great to see you guys. Appreciate you being on here. Uh, a couple things. One, I went to New York City today. Did I only did a couple of very, very, very quick sketches. I wasn't there that long. I'll show you a couple things I did. And then also, I, I got 3 pens, 3 new pens right here. And, um, hey Sally for Art, great to see you on Instagram. So I got 3 new pens. I'm just going to break these out. We'll sketch something. I don't, I don't know what it's going to be, but we'll just play with the new, with new pens. All right, cool. Let me know where you're watching from. Let me know how your day is going, how your weekend was. What are you up to out there? What are you doing that's creative these days? All right, so I went to New York City, um, had a great opportunity to meet a mentor of mine. Um, shout out, shout out to Mel Abraham, he's awesome. Um, so I was helping him with something and, uh, I, I passed by the new JP Morgan Chase headquarters. Holy cow. That building's incredible. It's 270 Park Avenue. I posted videos earlier today on TikTok and Instagram and Facebook, a quick reel of it. I'll post more about it. This is just a really, really quick sketch that you're seeing right here based on just a small, really small section of 270 Park Avenue. So I don't have an actual picture here. I'll, I'll do another separate stream focused on this. But I just want to show you how loose and quick these lines are to capture. And this is just the bottom corner of the building, um, on there. This building is extremely modern. I think it's really, really incredible. It's beautiful. And what was probably the highlight sketching here was, um, I was talking to a police officer who was on security for the building. It's not open to the public yet, so he was kind of out, out there just watching things. And I was talking to him and I gave him a sketch. So I don't have that sketch, I ripped it out of my book, but I gave it to him before I left. So I have this sketch here. You know what, maybe I'll throw some ink on this. Maybe we'll actually just use these sketches tonight and I'll play with the new pens on them. Um, here's another just small section of the building, opposite corner. These are incredible Um, so I guess steel truss structures that support the building. This is glass, this is steel truss, and we have kind of glass here with a canopy over it. So yeah, those were really two cool quick sketches I was able to do today. All right, I'm just gonna grab a drink of water here, I'm a little thirsty. Very cool. So, um, I love, I love, um, I guess art supply stores. I love stationery paper stores that sell obviously paper and stationery and also have pens. There's one right adjacent to Rockefeller Center. Part of, um, I guess Rand McNally Books, uh, owns them, but it's located in Rand McNally Books. And I'm gonna— I'm forgetting the name of it. Oh boy, hmm, I forgot the name of it, guys. I'm sorry, I'll post it. But I went in there, I'm gonna say Goods for the Home or something like that. I could be— I could be way off with that. Anyway, I picked up these 3 pens there. 2 of them are this, um, what are they? They kind of remind me of, um, Pilot pens. I don't know what company is. Ohto. See, Ohto Food Ball Bio. I haven't done any research on it. I just kind of grabbed and went with them because they looked cool. So I have two colors, pink and aqua. And here I also have a— I picked up a— this is an EnerGel 0.7, and I think it's a sepia color, so, or brown color. This is by Pentel. So let's break these out, play with them on this sketch here. I'm going to zoom in a little bit closer, and feel free to ask questions if you have, and or make comments. I'll be looking into the chat. Let me zoom in for a sec. So it's— think of this just as a— just creative playtime. I'm just experimenting, playing around. Maybe we'll try to bleed these inks as well. We'll see how that works. So let's see, we got— oops, got some water here. I just popped on. I wasn't really planning it, so I'm not 100% prepared. Oh, that— we are not using that water. That's got to be cleaned up. Um, it's been sitting there a while, but I kind of like not being prepared. I just like winging it and going with what I got. For me, it's kind of just spontaneous and spur of the moment. That's how I love sketching and capturing things, is things are in spontaneous spur of the moment kind of way. All right, there we go. All right, let's break out— we're just going to play with color tonight. Let's— I'm curious to see how these, these Food Ball— I might be saying it wrong— Foodie, F-U-D-E, Food. Anybody say it, let me know. Hey, Sally for Art, good to see you on Instagram. Hope all's well. All right, let's do it. Uh, guys, this is the first time I'm using these, so you're getting kind of my live reaction here. One of the cool things or interesting things on here is I saw a comment says biocide-free ink. I don't know, my camera's picking up, might be a little blurry. Sorry about that. You can see that right above it says biocide-free ink. It's not really picking up on camera, so I guess that's a good thing. I guess some kind of chemical Uh, definitely worth researching and looking into. Um, interesting tip on here, it's kind of wide, so we'll just throw it on here straight up. Uh, this is not the color of the building. The building is very kind of brown, coppery colors, but you know me, I like to just grab and go and just be playful. Um, Sally, you're on Instagram, let me know if you can see this okay. Instagram is also a little bit, I think, behind where I am in real time, more so than YouTube or Facebook. All right, first time using this, uh, the ink's coming out pretty nicely. I am sketching this on fairly white, lightweight paper. What is it? I think it's 65 GSM if I remember correctly. Tomoe River paper. I'm actually just sketching here in my Lockbie field journal. Gotta plug Lockbie. Why? Because I love, love, love them. They don't pay me. Well, that's not true. If you sign up using the link on the top left of the screen you can get a 10% discount at lockbee.com, and I get a real small little, just a little, uh, percentage for helping to sell their stuff. They don't mark the price up if you use my link or my discount code. So yeah, if you're interested in Lockbee and their products, please check out lockbee.com and feel free to use my discount code. Hey Andrea, you are great to see you! You're over on, uh, the YouTube. I got Do I have two peeps on YouTube? That's awesome. How are you? Late, but I'm here. You're not late. You can't be late because I literally just started, um, and I didn't tell anybody I was coming on, so there's no way you can be late. All right, so here's that Food Ball feud. I'm gonna say feud. It looks like the word feud. Um, let's see how this ink bleeds. I have no idea. Do I have a— let me see if I have a— I don't know if I have my Aqua Brush. I do! Haha, Aqua Brush to the rescue! Aqua Brush to the rescue! All right, move that over there. Cool. All right, let's see if this stuff bleeds. Oh, I wanna— the Aqua Brush is too— I want a narrow, medium-sized tip on it. I don't like the wide tip on, on Aqua brushes. We'll use this one. So this ink's been setting here a while. It's not bleeding. Let's see if I just put some fresh ink down if it bleeds. Ooh, not really interesting. It's not really— so maybe this is a waterproof ink. I'm getting very, very little bleeding out of it, so that's good to know. So it's not really a good ink to bleed. So that's this pink color, which I also got in aqua. Can't go wrong with that color combo, right? Hey Andrew, good to see you. If you're over there on the Insta, good to see you. Maybe you hear squeaking in the background there. Someone's playing with our pup and they're using her toy. All right, these, these pens are kind of interesting to me. Um, I almost It's gonna sound strange to me. It looks— it has the appearance of almost ink and a color pencil combined together. Yeah, it's almost like a— and I'm not saying that's what the intention of it is. I have no idea. I didn't— haven't researched these, don't know anything about them. Literally just Picked them up. Goods for the Study. I think that's the name of the store. Goods for the Study. Got it. Um, I just literally picked these up because they look cool. Yeah, the interesting— it has a kind of interesting like texture look to it. I'll have to research it. Cool. And if you hear any growling in the background, it's because they're playing with our pup. So funny. Alright. She's an awesome, awesome pup. She, uh, She's harmless, but when she plays, she likes to make her little puppy growling sounds. So cool. All right, let's try, um, this other new pen I got. This is an EnerGel, Pentel EnerGel. I think it's a sepia color. I love sepia, love using sepia ink. What's up? Let's just throw some on here. Try bleeding this a little bit. Oh yeah, love, loving this color. It, it's more— I think it's more brown than sepia if I bleed it. Well, when you bleed it, you kind of get sepia. Sepia is sepia. Oh my gosh, what's the adjective for sepia? Sepia-ness? Sepia-ist-ness? It's a hard one to say. Um, this is actually cool. I'm liking the effect up here, the way it's kind of going down on, on the page. Hey, D-Ray's in the house! D-Ray, great to see you. Yes, sepia! Who doesn't love some sepia, right? Wasn't that one of the droids in Star Wars? CP-3O. Thank you very much. I'm here all night for our Star Wars fans. CP-30. Yeah, it looks kind of cool. I'm liking this. So again, I'm using, uh, this is really thin paper, so it's not meant for heavy water or color or ink bleeding. So there's just 3, 3 new pens. I'll keep messing around with them. Definitely like the brown. Um, not 100% sure how I feel about these yet. They're kind of cool, but I'll break them out more and I'm going to start doing more product reviews here on the Inkspired Life. Um, yeah, we'll just start doing more reviews. Well, I got this open here. I, I gotta throw down some of my Apple Snail ink because this stuff is the bomb. Love it. Let's do this. Yes, I'm just dipping into some of this Apple Snail ink, which I love so much. I'm gonna shift it up here so you guys can see it. Sorry, Instagram peeps, I know you can't see the entire image. I also always, uh, I also stream on YouTube at the same time where you can— and Facebook— where you can see the whole thing if you're ever feeling frustrated. There we go. Oh yeah, this is, this is ink. This is, this is my favorite color ink, 100%. I'm liking it. And just for the heck of it, I'm gonna break— I have some Rale Roadworm ink right here too. I'll throw some of that on. Hope you're all doing well. D-Ray, it's been a while. Hope it's great to see you. This ink is basically— it just looks like highlighter, yellow highlighter. I like the color combo of the, the brown with the yellow next to it here. And as that, um, brown ink's drying, it's really interesting. I am, I'm seeing some orangey colors popping out in it, so that's interesting to watch. Can anybody rewind the clock back to Saturday? I mean, I do love teaching, going to work. I, I don't actually— I don't call school work or a job. Um, sometimes when I hear the word work or job, it just has a negative connotation to me. So I mean, I do work hard and all that, but I don't like— I don't like see him going to work. I just see him going to school. There we go. I love the way this is drying. It looks so cool here. Yes. I need some— what do I need on here? Yeah, I'm getting crazy, guys. I'm gonna get cray cray. I'm breaking out some red ink. I know, sometimes we just have to live on the edge. And these are not the colors of the actual building. I rarely use the actual colors, just kind of— I like to, I like to create a vibe with what I'm doing. Hmm, I'm just looking for a color. Maybe we'll go with green. Just want to add some lines on here, add a little bit of, um, kind of shadow. Actually, don't use my Sharpie. I will try green. We'll see how it goes. All right, here we go, throwing on the green. This building is really cool. It's ultra modern, and I thought I can go inside. I thought it was open based on the website, but apparently it's still— part of it's still under construction. So I had no access to get in. Um, but this— the scale of this— I just looked in the windows. The lobby is— the scale is huge of this building. It's incredible. Like, looking in the lobby made me feel like I was the size of an ant. Yeah. We're talking like monstrous. I will break out some of these new pens again. That's interesting. So I'm just kind of blotting the pen in the wet area, letting the ink bleed out. Cool. And we're gonna break out this pink color again, and I'm gonna zoom out so, um, our Instagram peeps can see what the thing's looking like. And I think I'm gonna wrap in a couple minutes here. Zoom out a little bit. There we go. So I'm waiting for it to dry. When it dries, I want to come back in with my seep my— not sepia, Sharpie. Oh, you know what, my brain's— my brain said sepia, so maybe there's a reason. I was thinking Sharpie and add some details, but we'll go sepia. Let's see, we'll put one last song on here. Alright, I got the CP out again. I need to do some ASMR sketching videos. Put in the chat or give me a thumbs up or something. Would that be kind of cool? Do you want to hear the scratching of the pen on the paper? Let me move the mic down. Let's try it. Cool, there we go. Andrew says, love the sound of the scratching. That's awesome. Yeah, I'm glad to hear that. I'm gonna, uh, let's start doing some of that ASMR artwork. I just like saying that, ASMR. I need to work on my, my nighttime DJ voice. I'm just being silly. All right, let's zoom in, look at some of the details. I'm going to wrap up— wrap this up. You guys can see how some of this is drying and looking. We'll get close up here. Just move this light. I'll move my camera a little bit, and I gotta adjust this light. Boom, there we go. You can see how this is drying. See if I can get closer. Pretty cool. I like the way it's drying. I like the way the red ink looks in the yellow areas down here. D-Ray, you know the drill. When I say I'm wrapping up, it usually means there's still an hour, an hour left to go. Just kidding. If I didn't have school tomorrow, probably I'd be up later, but I'm actually tired. Let me move this way. You can see here a little bit closer. Here's the area I was talking about with that brown ink. Um, I'll tilt it so you can get better lighting. There's almost— almost looks kind of orangey, right? Or kind of coppery. Pretty cool. So I kind of— I just kind of like, um, the way this is drying. It's always fun breaking out new pens. Um, let me show you a close-up of these again. I never used them before. I don't even know anything about them. Don't know what they're supposed— why they're special, why they're not special. And they, they kind of felt to me like a hybrid between a between ink and a colored pencil. I know that sounds kind of weird, but that's kind of what it was feeling like. And I'll get close and you can see, you know, the pink and blue on here. That's— it's pretty hard to see on camera. I don't think that's the intention of the pen. It's just my own, my impression of it. There you go. Hey, I just saw Mark over— or Artist AB on, uh, Instagram. Oh, they're gone. My Instagram peeps come on and leave quickly. What am I doing wrong? No, nothing. T-Ray, are you laughing at me? I know I'm silly. Like an hour goes by. Um, Let me know if you guys have any final questions or comments or thoughts, and we'll wrap this one up. And just for comparison, I will flip to a black and white kind of sketch of the same, the same building, different part of it. I have to say, part of me likes the black and white better. Part of me is liking the black and white. Let me know what you guys think. Do you ladies like the black and white? Let me zoom out. I just like playing with the zoom slider here. It's kind of like a fidget cube for me, just using that slider bar. All right, all right, so here's the black and white, and let's flip to the color. Nothing. I dislike the color. Um, I feel like the black and white is more, more powerful. This needs more, um, more hatch lines, and I need to get some lines to pop out more. This is just maybe 5 minutes. I'm thinking how long I've sketched this for. It's probably a 5-minute sketch today. On location. Again, this was probably another 5-minute sketch. Shazam! And I really love this sketch here. This was a fun one for my imagination. This was cool. This was not from tonight. This was A few days ago, maybe. Dira says black and white. Yeah, my gut is going with the black and white also. Um, I took a picture of the one I gave to the— let me see if I can find it— the police officer. See if I can pull up my phone. I'll show you guys the other sketch I did, um, the one I gave away. Just looking on my phone here. I'm pretty sure I took a picture of it. Yeah, yeah, I did. Oh yeah, here's, uh, here's the— here's— that is— oh, that's the building. So that's a sketch I did. Let me go back. And then that— you can see the building. How cool is that building? I mean, this goes up and up and up and up. You can't see it from underneath the perspective because the building's angle— angling out over your head, so you can't really see the building continuing past. Well, you'll see on the to the screen here. Yeah, you have to be across the block to see it continuing up. Um, super, super duper impressive. Let me get a picture of the overall building so you can see the height of it. You can kind of see it here. Let me zoom in. So this, this is a JP Morgan Chase headquarters, 270 Park Avenue, this building here. See, I have some more images. Here's kind of another view of it. I cannot wait for this. Here's another view. I can't wait for this to be open. You can see there's an elevator shaft here, so they're still working on the building. Hey, thanks for sticking around. You guys are getting the bonus The bonus show and tell. And here, here's, um, actually this sketch, black and white sketch, is based on this corner of the building we're seeing. So you can kind of see what inspired the sketch, right? I take a lot of pictures, guys. I take a lot of pictures when I— well, pretty much when I'm anywhere, especially in this city. I— yeah, I take a lot of pictures. Uh, here, let me turn this sideways. And then here you can kind of see across the whole main entry, the bottom here. Incredible. Just an incredible kind of steel structure happening here. Let me see how close I can get. I'll zoom in. I want— so you can maybe see the inside. No, kind of. I don't really have a good picture of the inside, but if you look here There's like a grand monumental stair inside that goes up to another level. It is big. I, I think that's it. Do I have any other images? I did not ask the police officer. I was thinking about asking to get a picture when I gave it to him, but I didn't ask him. I felt for security reasons I probably shouldn't, you know, shouldn't ask him to be in a picture. He might not, might not be allowed. I actually love this. This is a reflection of the structure in one of the entry windows. That's a really cool picture. All righty then, thank you guys so much for watching. This has been the Inkspired Life, um, where I love sketching architecture, urban sketching, and just kind of sketching anything. Until we meet again, sketch boldly, live creatively, and inspire endlessly. See you soon.
