Sunday Night Sketching

In this 15‑minute live stream recorded on October 26‑27, 2025, artist Jason Nicholas sketches a quick, improvised Halloween‑themed spooky house using Sharpie Creative Markers on brown kraft paper while simultaneously broadcasting to TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube. He explains his material choices (kraft paper, Sharpie markers, color pencils), demonstrates his loose, hatch‑line shading technique, and adds color to bring depth to the drawing. Throughout the stream Jason engages with viewers across platforms, greeting individuals by name, answering casual questions, and encouraging likes, hearts, and subscriptions. He references a previous Beetlejuice‑inspired house sketch, shares his love for fall aesthetics, and mentions personal goals such as reaching 1,000 YouTube subscribers and promoting his newly launched Substack. The stream ends with a brief close‑up of the finished sketch, a reminder to follow his social channels, and a sign‑off encouraging viewers to "sketch boldly, live creatively, and inspire endlessly."

Hey guys, happy Friday! Friday, oh my gosh. Sunday. Happy Sunday, October 26th, 2025. Hope you're doing awesome. Thanks for joining me. I'm going to pop on here for just not too long, maybe till 10:00, so about 15 minutes or so, and, uh, I'll do a quick sketch tonight. And I hope you're having a great, great day. Um, I have kind of weird setup. I have my— I'm going to actually stream to TikTok the same time we're streaming, uh, to Instagram and Facebook. So I'm just hitting some buttons here, getting things going. Hope you're having a great, great night tonight. Uh, let me know how your day was. Did you do anything fun, exciting? Did you be able to relax on this awesome, um, Saturday, Sunday? I don't even know what day it is anymore. Sunday. And pardon me if I'm not looking directly in the camera because my laptop camera is on. There's a lot of technical stuff behind the scenes that happens to do this live streaming stuff, which I love so much. So it's definitely not a complaint. All right. Uh, I am gonna just sketch, you know, I'm in the theme of Halloween spookiness. You I don't know if you guys have seen this. This is my Beetlejuice-inspired house that I posted yesterday. I sketched a couple days ago, and, uh, this was such a fun sketch to do. I love the colors and everything. So I thought I'd just kind of— I'm not going to create any specific house, I'm just going to sketch maybe some kind of— well, we'll see. We'll sketch some kind of spooky house or something just for a few minutes here. Yeah, so let me know how you guys are doing out there. I am on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and, uh, YouTube all at the same time. Kind of crazy. I am using a Sharpie here on kraft paper. I love this brown kraft paper. It really shows off, um, Sharpie Creative Markers really well with a pop of color. It's one of the reasons I love using this paper. It's almost like sketching on brown paper bags. Can you still get those anywhere? I don't even know. Seriously, do any stores give out paper bags anymore? I know we can't get them here in New Jersey. Um, it's really tough to get. So yeah, so hello Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, I forget any other live streaming sources I'm on right now. Maybe. Um, I love this time of year. I, I love the fall. I see D-Ray is over on YouTube. Hey D-Ray, great to see you. Hope all's well. Yeah, I love, I love the fall. Um, the leaves changing. I know this is going to sound weird, but I kind of like gray. Fall days, it's true. So yeah, I had a question. This is just a house I'm sketching from just my imagination right now, so I'm not looking at any reference pictures. And I'll throw some color on this in a few. D says Sunday is relaxed. Tried to sit on the deck, but it was chilly. Oh yeah, that's, um, the sun felt really good. It was like in the 50s, low 50s here. I took Olivia for a walk. The sun felt amazing. It was— yeah, and then, uh, you're right, when the sun went behind the clouds, it, it got super, super chilly. All right, cool. I think Halloween's coming up, right? It's, uh, Friday. Halloween's this coming Friday, I think. Is anybody out there going to be dressing up for Halloween? Hey Yandi, I see you on TikTok. Hope all's well. Good to see you. I have not dressed up for Halloween in a long time. Sorry, Instagram, I know my I'm gonna, um, slide this over. Instagram's only seeing like half an image here. Darn that Instagram. Cool. All right, let's throw some color down. This is a quick fun sketch before I go to bed. I just got to change my mind. My brain's pretty tired today, and I didn't do the things I wanted to do— I, well, things I needed to do, um, you know, like pay bills and all that stuff. But this is something I want to do. All right, cool. You really see this come to, uh, life once I start throwing some color on it. And just like I do with the Beetlejuice house, I think I'm going to start off with some white on here. Hey, how are we? Hello everybody over there on Instagram, hope you're doing well today. Feel free to put any comments, questions. TikTok, it might be hard for me to see your questions and comments, but you can still throw things in there. I'll try to check in there. My streaming software doesn't broadcast TikTok comments. I have to look at my phone, and the screen is super, super small. Super, super small. All right, cool. All right, so I'm just popping this out with some white. Notice I'm leaving a lot of the brown paper showing through. Um, I kind of like that look. I don't want to color everything in solid white. I want to keep it really kind of loosey-goosey looking. TikTok, I'm going to slide you over. There you go. Hey, if you're watching on TikTok, just put say hello in the comments. I want to see if I could actually see a comment on there. That would be helpful. We have a door here, door there. I love the way this red Creative Marker looks on here. Boom! Yeah, it's looking fun. We've got another chimney happening here. Throw some red on there, just pop it out in a few places there. I see Judy, Jose, Michael, Jay, all on TikTok. Hello everybody, good to see you guys. Got D-Ray over there on the YouTube. Instagram's quiet tonight. Let's see, let's do, um, just looking for— maybe we'll use gray on the kind of the roof area. Okay, Marie, good to see you. This is fun. So you can see, as I'm throwing some color down, right, it's kind of— it's, it's popping out certain elements of the house. And then actually, I'll take a Sharpie, black Sharpie marker, and I'll outline some of it so some of the houses pop out. Some of the sections will stand out more. Some of the shapes, they're kind of hidden. Let me see, where's a— have a black marker here. Here we go. Boom. Hey, we're just joining. Hello everybody, I'm just doing a little bit of a loosey-goosey creepy haunted house kind of vibes here on this quick sketch. You haven't seen the Beetlejuice House sketch? Um, actually, I really love it. Here's— this is it here. So this, this sketch is not the Beetlejuice House. This is it. I think this sketch came out really, really, really good. Same materials I'm using tonight, same paper, same markers. So to show you that using the same materials, you can create very different things. Right, awesome. Antonio 7, see you guys on TikTok, awesome. One of the things I love about the Creative Markers is how fast they dry. I'm going to pull out these porch columns here. Cool. And I'll add some hatch lines for shadows. I keep trying to put the wrong cap on this marker. What is up with that? Hey, if you're watching on TikTok, for you, for this, hello. Hey, thanks, D-Ray. D-Ray says the Beetlejuice house looks awesome. Yeah, right, it came out really good. I appreciate that. Just let's draw some shingles on the roof. I don't want to do that, um, do some wavy lines here, just give a little texture to it. Here's how I like to do shadows. I use hatch lines a lot, so I'll show you the hatch line. Hey Chicago, great to see you, hope all's well. Hey, thank you for liking the live, I appreciate you guys liking the live. Put some hearts out there, let's get a lot of people watching the live. I would love, love, love that, that'd be amazing. Also guys, I am streaming on YouTube as well. I'm trying to get to 1,000 subscribers on YouTube before the end of the month, so before I guess Friday. That would be an amazing, amazing thing if that happens. That'd be so cool. But see, the hatch lines are really helping to kind of pull out, give a little bit of depth in places, right? Hopefully you guys can see that on there. Thank you, Chicago. I see you, uh, giving me some likes out there on TikTok. Appreciate it. Does anybody have any favorite Halloween movies or creepy movies? I'm more of a, uh, yeah, I like, I like things like The Addams Family and the TV show The Munsters. Love, love that kind of stuff. Um, I do like the movie Psycho, Beetlejuice, obviously. Let's draw some bricks in the chimneys, just kind of throw down some lines. We'll do the same thing on the other chimney as well. Barbie, good to see you. Chicago says yes, classic stuff. Awesome, Chicago, that's great. Can't go wrong with the classics, right? M, I see M on TikTok, on Instagram. Hey M, hope all's well. What time is it? Oh, 10:02. I'm gonna be on just for a couple more minutes because I have— I got, I got some school tomorrow. Awesome. Amberly, I see, is on. Hey, Queen Emily, you are silly. You are so silly. All right, let's throw some— it's kind of hatching some of these window areas just to kind of make the windows pop a little bit. I'm just gonna use my Sharpie, just fill in some spaces. Notice my windows are not beautiful, perfect rectangles, right? Oh, I think they're supposed to be columnar. I didn't draw them. There we go. It's really just about creating, um, shapes, putting some shapes together. And I love the wonky, loose style look, which allows me to be even crazier with my lines. I'm not looking for perfection at all. Certain kind of freedom built in there. Hey Tara, good to see you over there. Tara Ray. Andrea, good to see you. Hope all is well. Dear, says Addams Family, that was a hoot back in the day. Yeah, I love the TV show The Addams Family. Um, love the new series Wednesday on Netflix. Love the Addams Family movies that came out. But I was always more of a Munsters fan than The Addams Family. I could— I could watch The Munsters for hours and hours and hours. Did I say hours? I meant hours and hours. Cool. Let me know, are you guys getting kind of Halloween-ish or spooky house-ish vibes? Going on with this thing. Also, hopefully you guys can all see and hear me okay. I was trying to stream earlier, but I was having some tech, uh, tech issues here. Let's see, let's throw down some— I'm going to show you guys what is— what does color pencil look like on this, this paper. It looks awesome. I'll show you. This is, this is, uh, in my top 5 favorite color pencil colors. This is Chartreuse. Don't ask me to spell it because I will get it wrong, but this is, this is Chartreuse happening here. Cool. Jaden, I see you. Good to see you. Billy Kuhl, is that Billy Kuhl on TikTok? Billy, hope all is well. Tony, good to see you on TikTok. Awesome. Dira says, I don't do scary or yucky masked kill. Yeah, I do. I am with you. I'm, uh, back in the day maybe, but I'm not into those slasher type movies anymore. I'm more— I'm more— I like suspenseful movies or psychological thrillers. And I did— did I say that I also love The Nightmare Before Christmas? Which there's always the debate, is that a Halloween movie or a Christmas movie? Either way, love it. It is— that's probably my top 10, 10 favorite movies of all time. So I'm going to color some of these shingles here just to give a little more texture on here as well. Preston, good to see you. Hope all's well. Caprice, good to see you as well. Heavy, Heavy Williams on TikTok, hello. Sorry TikTokers if I get your names wrong, it's really small on my screen. I'm trying, trying. This is so cool. All right, I got 2— wrap up in 3 minutes at 10:10. What else could I add to this? Let's do some here lines here for bricks, maybe. Look for you guys to like this wherever you're watching. Give me some likes, hearts, whatever, thumbs ups, uh, share if you can, subscribe if you haven't. I want to keep this building. I just love doing this stuff, and, uh, yeah, I just want to share some positive vibes. Through creativity, I would say positivity through creativity. Thumbs up! I see some thumbs up. Thank you so much, D-Ray. Alright, let's take a look at it. This might be a wrap on this one. I see me on TikTok. What's up, me on TikTok? Good to see you guys. Tom's on TikTok. Appreciate it. All right guys, let me know if you have any questions or comments as I wrap here. I'll do a close-up so you can see some of the details of this. Let's move the sketchbook. Um, so what I use tonight— I— here's the sketchbook I'm using. Really thin paper, not great for watercolors or heavy like ink wash type stuff. As you can see, you can see some of the Sharpie bleeds through a little bit. Um, we use Sharpie Creative Markers and just Sharpie black. Marker. Hopefully it's not too blurry. I just want to zoom in so you can see some of the details. Hey, thanks Andrea! Hope— hope— I love the spooky house. That's great, thank you. I can move it up here. Sorry TikTok, you guys lost it. And Instagram— no, it's still on Insta. So YouTube, you guys can see that. Facebook, you guys can see that closer. You know what I could have done? I could just use the zoom button. That would have been a smart thing to do. Hey, I see Victoria's over on Instagram. Hello, what is up? So guys on Instagram, if you're not following me, I'd love for you to follow me, or any TikTok, wherever you're watching. There you go. I just zoomed in, so hopefully YouTube and Instagram and Facebook, you guys can see it closer. All right guys, I think that's a wrap for tonight. Um, thank you for watching. I appreciate you all so, so much. You're talking to this camera, right? Um, sorry guys, these are the camera over there. Appreciate you all so, so much. Until we meet again, sketch boldly, live creatively, and inspire endlessly. Um, also check out the comments or notes. I just started a new Substack. I don't even know how it looks. I just put a post out there. I hope it's working. I don't know. Anyway, check out Substack. There's a link, uh, you'll see in the notes or comments or wherever your favorite social media place puts it. All right, take care, guys. Hey Kelly, great to see you. Hope all is well. Wow, I haven't seen your name in a long time. Well, I see your stuff on Instagram all the time. Yeah, I think, I think I met you through, um, Noah. A long time ago. It's good to see you. Awesome. T says it's a wrap. Thank you, thank you so much, guys. I appreciate y'all. All right.
