Hello everybody, hope you're having a great day. I see Linda. Hey Linda, hope you are doing well today. Good to see you. I'm on just for a really short time. I wanted to add color to this black and white sketch that was inspired by this place here, the Steam Plant. Really, really cool adaptive reuse project in Spokane, Washington. You will be seeing a lot of sketches of this, trust me. Um, this was a kind of a quick one I did. I just want to throw down some fun colors. Deborah is in the house. Deborah, great to see you.
Hope all is well.
You guys can hear me okay? Let me know if the music is too loud. Let me know if you'd rather hear the music and not me. It's all good. So this is a really cool space. It has a brew pub and a restaurant in there. It has office spaces as well. We were actually— we were meeting in this space here called the Boiler Room. Really cool. It had a purplish color, so let's throw down some. Grab my pens here.
Let's see, I packed—
I don't think I put it in here. I packed my Blockupy tool roll. I got so many things packed in here. I love this. But did I put my purple— oh, I didn't put my purple preppy in there. What the heck? I don't know where the heck I put it. It's all good. Let me just look over here. I am not seeing my purple preppy, pals. Perhaps we'll play with another color. We'll just make some purple up. Anyway, hope you guys are doing well. As you know, I, I like to add my own colors and have fun. This is not the color of what you see in the space. Um, I have a palette that I really like to use, especially for old industrial type of architecture. So let's just throw it down. I'm gonna make some kind of a purpley color here. We'll go with that. We hope you're all doing well. D-Race in the house, good to see you. Excuse me, guys. T-Ray, great to see you as well. Um, should have brought some water and I did not bring water with me. What kind of watercolor paints are they? They are— these are Winsor Newton. Winsor Newton Cotman watercolors. I've been using Winsor Newton pretty much, I don't know, since I started watercolor painting. I love these paints. You will see some— this is actually a Cheap Joe's turquoise in here, and then I think the red might be Cheap Joe's, but the rest is Winsor Newton watercolor paint. Yeah, sorry about that cough. Oh my gosh, dry throat. I wasn't gonna go live and I said, you know what, I wanted to throw down some color before I went to bed tonight, play around. So I am actually— this is a sketch I did. I'll zoom out for a sec. So I brought my field journal with me. See, it's well-loved. And this is the paper inside.
It's—
see if the wrapper's still on. I don't know if it's still on there. Here, you can see it. This is the paper. It's, um, plain paper. It's not watercolor paper. It's, it's fairly thin, but I'd like— I do like adding a wash in this of color. Paper gets a little wrinkly, and I don't mind it. So that's the paper I'm using right now. You can't make it soaking wet because it will tear the paper. All right, let's throw down some of this purpley color. This would have been really awesome if I had my purple preppy pen pals. This would have been perfect. This is perfect for our purple. See what I'm trying to do? I'm just playing around with alliterations because my brain is saying, yo, I'm still adjusting from West Coast time. My brain doesn't know what time it is. Is it really 1050 or is it really 750? Oh, but anyway, I'll throw this down and I can always brighten it up or pop it with some purple preppy another time. You get the idea. Pretty cool, pretty cool. Never says thank you. You are welcome. Thank you for watching, guys. I appreciate that. It's so fun. Like I said, you'll be seeing a lot of sketches. I have— I took tons and tons of photographs here. Throw down some yellow. I just like to throw a bit of lemony freshness, I call it. So let's throw some lemony freshness down. I think it's a lemon yellow watercolor paint. We'll just mix some colors up in there. I would be careful not to add too many colors. I'm going to leave a lot of white space in this. I kind of like the way it's looking. I feel like I could use some blue. Let me dip into my blue here. You can see I don't have much left.
Ta-da!
I like to, um, I like to add watercolor paint by kind of rolling my brush around. You can see me spinning it. That's how I like to load it on my paintbrush, kind of twisting it. Let's see. Oh, this has got a little thingy sticking out. Let's pull it. There we go.
Cool.
And I just like the blue kind of contrasting with some of the other colors on here. I don't mind if they bleed together like you just saw happening up there. It's cool. Watercolor is supposed to be fun. And for me, I like— I'm a messy watercolor person. I mix, I mash, I model, I muddle. And make merry. For some reason it's an alliteration. I am not even charging extra, the alliterations are on the house. Um, there we go. Cool. Yeah, this is looking cool. Like, again, I don't want to overdo it. I think it's looking fun with these, uh, little splashes of color happening. D-Ray, it's so great to see you. I haven't seen you in a long time. Hope all is well. Deborah, it's so awesome to have you joining us live. I appreciate that. Linda S, it's always great to see you too. I appreciate all of you. Um, let's see, what is my brain saying? Red. I guess my brain just said red. Why, I don't know, but let's go with it. Check out this water. I'm still using the dirty water from about 3 weeks now. Nothing weird's growing in there yet, no weird smells, so I'll keep using it a little bit longer. Some of you may know about the We call it the magic solution, the watercolor paint that I just let sit there, the dirty water I let sit there for a long, long time until I had to get rid of it because I opened it one day and it was just noxious. I'm actually being a little careful. I'm holding the paintbrush close to the end. I rarely do that, just for a little more control. Usually I'm kind of back here somewhere. Zoom in even a little closer. There you go. Look at the way these colors are drying. Pretty nice, right? I like— I actually really like the pop of red happening here. That looks pretty cool.
Now let's see, I think I want to throw a pop.
Do I want to do I think I do. I was thinking this was going to be neon pink. You guys know I like to use my, uh, neon pink Prismacolor color pencil, but I'm feeling like I want to do this kind of pipe thingy here in red. Let's give it a shot. Live once, right? Unless you're a cat. I don't think I'm a cat. I don't really like friskies. I don't like friskies, so I guess I am not a cat. Let's pull this down a little bit. All right, cool. I'm liking it, liking it, liking it. And you may have noticed I just did the old left-hand classic blunder where you put your palm in paint or ink and smudge it, and I did that right here. Welcome to the world of left-handedness, where you feel left out if you don't make a smudge on your painting. It's all good, we're just playing, having fun. Actually, I don't mind it. I can even gray it out a little bit. This is glass back here anyway. But, uh, yeah, it's looking really cool. I'm going to zoom in and show you guys some close-ups then I'm out for the night. D-Ray says muddling. I am muddling. Yes, I am muddling. Hope you guys are liking this. I'm gonna— I'm just moving some stuff so I can pan around a little bit because I think that's all the color I'm gonna throw down for now. I think— get ready, I have a school mañana. Let me put the lid on here, then I'm going to pan around and we'll show you guys a little bit of this more close up. I remember it was a unique color. Yes, D-Ray, the Magic Solution was a unique— it was a unique color. It was a color I loved. I have to go back. I never wrote that— wrote it down what it was, but at the time I remembered what I dumped in there. So I have to go back and look at a video and see if I can pull it up. Alright, let's pan around and show you guys how this is drying. I mean, I just love— you know me, I'm a nerd when it comes to just colors and the way things dry. I love what's happening right up top there. Got some hard edges happening as well, which I love. This is actually— this is a song that I made up on GarageBand. Kinda like it. Look how this is drying. Pretty cool, right? Look at the color combos right in here. Let's back out a little bit. I love the color combos, right? Let me zoom in here, kind of right in there. That's where my hands are a little shaky. Ta-da! So there you go. So when I come back to this, I will be adding, um, some color pencil. We'll throw down some neon pink. Somewhere. We'll throw down some Neon Yellow. That I know I put in my, uh, tool roll here. Let's see, so we're gonna bring out some Neon Yellow, of course Light Aqua, and I'm probably gonna throw down some Preppy Yellow somewhere in there also. So you will be seeing these guys make an appearance sometime soon on this sketch. Deborah says looks great. Thank you so much, Deb. I appreciate that. Hey, you guys are amazing. I'm so glad you're watching. Let me know if you have any final questions and/or comments. If you're on YouTube, I'd love for you to give this a like and even possibly subscribe if you haven't. I only need one more person to get 700 YouTube subscribers. I had 700 this morning and one, one of those viewers went bye-bye, so I'm down to 699. It's all good, but I would love to hit 700. My goal is to hit 1,000 by the end of the year. Why? More people The more I can spread this positivity out, this creativity out, and just get out there. It's kind of one of my goals. I really love doing this stuff. I love putting it out there. It makes me feel good. And hopefully you guys get some pro tips, some inspiration, or it just makes you feel good or chilled out or whatever. Some kind of positive benefit from watching. That's why I do this thing, man. I love it, love it, love it. Deborah says, "What do you do for 700?" Let's throw on some colored pencil while we're talking. This is drying up a little bit. I did have this propped up at an angle. I was using this case. Um, sorry, Deborah said, "What do you do?" Um, hey, Laura's in the house! Great to see you. Wow, long time no see. Laura Abbott is in the house. Laura does really cool hearts. Dov, great to see you. Um, I don't know if you mean what am I gonna do when I hit 700 subscribers. Great question. Uh, I haven't thought about it. I should do a giveaway. I should do a sketch giveaway. I am also going to be doing a sketch giveaway for people that commented on a post I had last week, gave me feedback. So that's coming up soon. Um, yeah, I should do another 700 Maybe when I hit 700, I should do some kind of giveaway. Cuckoo! Kid's brain's cuckoo. Um, all right, let's throw down some light aqua. I've lost it. All right, let me zoom in. I want you to see this. So, I love doing mixed media sketches— ink, watercolor, colored pencils— and I just love throwing down this light aqua. Places. It's just I don't want to cover all the paint— the work I did underneath— so I'm going lightly on top in some places. But I love Prismacolor colored pencils. So cool, go on so smooth.
Yeah, I mean, they're pretty amazing.
No, I mean, how do you get on your 700 number? Oh, thank you for the question. Oh, you would have to be on YouTube, um, my YouTube channel, The Inks. I'll put a thing in the comments if anyone wants a link on it, uh, and just so you would have to subscribe to my YouTube channel. If you're not on YouTube, no worries, it's all cool, but Let me find the link. If anybody out there does want to watch it live, or if you're watching replay, you want to check out my YouTube channel, which I'm live streaming on also. Let me just get the link.
Where is the link? I am searching for the link.
I Yes, this is. Why can't I find the link for my YouTube? Isn't that funny? I thought it was just the Inspired Life, but I think it's a really weird thingy-ma-jiggy.
Why am I sharing this? Yikesies.
Um, this is so funny. I'm on my YouTube channel, but I Sure, I forgot how to share it. I could copy and paste the URL. Now we're getting all technical, but I love technical stuff.
Dashboard content. Why am I drawing a blank?
This is funny. I guess— oh wait, let's try this. I'm gonna paste this in here. Hopefully this works. It's actually the first time I've seen the link. Let me know if anybody out there, if you do click on it, let me know if that works. If not, no worries. Hey, Chipson! What's up, Chip? Great to see you. It's always awesome to see you. So here's kind of the colors for this factory. I do want a deep, deep purple. And darn it, I am going to find my purple preppy. It's in one of these. Well, I did find my varsity. Let's throw out some purple varsity. That works. Chip, hope you're doing well. It's always great to see you. Deborah says, please do the link. Yes, I just posted the link. So when I hit 700, I will do— probably at this coming weekend, I might— I will do a giveaway, sketch giveaway. We'll do a random drawing somehow, some way, or we'll figure that out. All right guys, here's my purple preppy pen. Let's play.
Purple Preppy.
I love this. I'm gonna zoom in because I love purple, the Purple Preppy ink. I'm gonna bleed this ink. Oh, I just put my water— I will use my Aqua Brush. I have an Aqua Brush out. Let's grab and go with this. Can you guys see that on screen yet? There we go, so I'm just bleeding that purple preppy. Look at how cool that is. Ta-da! I have posted a couple of pictures of this space. Like I said, I have tons of them. I'll be posting more. The colors you're seeing are— I'm making these colors up. Just how— one of the ways I add style to what I see. This room actually here where this conference or meeting space was kind of a— I think it was pink color, kind of a pinkish color. Yeah, this is looking cool. Awesome, awesome. It works, the link! D-Ray, thank you so much. I'm so glad the link works. Now I know. I thought I had— was a really crazy link, but I I hadn't seen that one before. YouTube.com/@theinspiredlife.
Perfect.
Cool. This is looking good, guys. Let me know if you like this so far. Let me zoom back out. Ta-da! That's too much. There we go. And there you go. I think that's, uh, gonna be the wrap for— on the wrap. For this one tonight. There's my cloth and a cloth here too. I don't know where I put it. All right, cool. You guys are awesome. Laura says, I've been using the yellow preppy ink. Love it. Laura, that is so cool. Yeah, yeah. Should we throw some down? All right, Laura, we're gonna do that before we leave. I love the yellow preppy ink. This is my favorite Yellow ink. It's like a yellow-orange, but— well, first of all, I've talked about this thing many times. I crack the barrels of my Preppy pens like no tomorrow. They are very, for me, I'm guessing very rough, but very just flimsy and cheap thin plastic. So this just literally pulls off. But anyway, here's what I like to do. I like to use the yellow Preppy ink right out of the cartridge. It's more— for me, it's more intense, and I just love the way it looks. You've seen me splatter on pages and stuff. Let's dip in here. We'll just throw some down. Where can you guys see?
Uh, let's see, I'll throw some down here.
Kind of window area, right? You can see it's kind of a yellow-orangey color, which I love so, so much.
Throw some down here as well.
Maybe a splatter there. I like it, like it. Laura, thank you for, uh, your comment. You just inspired me. Ink inspired me. Inkspired me to throw down this Preppy Yellow. Cool. There we go. Pretty awesome stuff. Linda says the purple pops. Yes, the purple pops, pal. Let's see if you can do the longest alliteration with the letter P. I love alliterations. That's a wrap, he says. Yeah, D-Ray, you know when I say wrap, it actually means I'll be on another 5 hours because I don't wrap up too well. There you go, guys. I think the whole image is on screen, if not most of it. Let's zoom back out a little bit. There you go. I do want to do something with this floor area. I'm not digging this floor area yet. I'll do something down there after it all dries. But here you— there you go. That's it for tonight. Hey, that girl Tammy joined! Hey, good to see you. So cool. Um, love that, love that. That girl Tammy is on Instagram. Uh, Tammy was one of the people at the workshop. She helped to organize it. So Tammy, it was great to see you over there on Instagram. And, uh, thank you to my friend Ray Edwards who had his workshop in this amazing building. Holy moly, this place was incredible. Incredible. Hey, Karen's in the house! Great to see you, Karen. I was just over on the West Coast, got back home yesterday. That's why I have too much energy. My brain and body are West Coast time. Too bad I have to get up here regular time. All right, not too bad. I mean, I love teaching. Just too bad because I want to stay on longer and do this stuff. Pretty cool, right? Doris says, "Thank you for sharing." I will. No worries. I appreciate you guys so, so much. Please let me know if you guys have any last questions, comments, or thoughts. That would be amazing. And just for fun, if you want, I'll see— I'll pull up a picture of— so I can kind of quickly pull up a picture of what I sketched. Let this dramatic music play while I'm searching.
Where the heck is it?
Um, Alright, I'll pull this one out. This is the first one. It's not the same view, but you'll get an idea of what I'm trying to sketch. Here we go. Is it on screen? There it is. So here's a picture of the interior of the space. Like I said, the colors are very different, the ones I painted. I love this. If you look down the bottom, that pink area called the Boiler Room, um, it's actually was one of the original components of the factory and it's now converted into a meeting space. I mean, this place is incredible. I love architecture that's been repurposed, adaptive reuse projects. It's probably Probably my most favorite type of architectural design. I have not yet had any projects like that. Maybe one day. Really inspiring space. I'll be talking more about it. I'll be doing just some shows just about this and sketching and drawing it. He's just home because he's trying to remember where the button is. Thanks, D-Ray. Hey, DB's in the house. DB, good to see you. Hope all's well. I'm just gonna put this out there. I am having a workshop end of April, architectural sketching. Right now, here's the title. My working title is a Don't Panic Guide to Sketching the Architecture of New York City. I like the name. Um, don't— a Don't Panic Guide to Sketching Architecture of New York City. Um, right now I'm planning on just having it be a 1-2 hour workshop, and it's really going to go over my sketching framework that I'm working on developing using the word sketch. I'll walk you through the framework, and it's, it's a creativity mindset workshop as much as learning to just get into doing some architectural sketching. So we might try the Brooklyn Bridge, maybe the Empire State Building. Um, hope you guys out there interested, I'll post a link to sign up during this week, and I'd love for you guys to join the workshop. I think it's going to be a lot of fun. Um, there you go. Ta-da! Ta-da! Any other last questions? Linda says, sounds like fun. Yeah, it's going to be fun. I really would love for you guys to join my, uh, Inklings. And every— you guys are special to me. Especially you guys that have been in my workshops in the past. You have stuck with me and I really appreciate you. And I appreciate you all tonight for watching, tuning in, commenting, hanging out. D-Ray, guess what? Now I am stalling to find the finish button. Legit stalling. All right guys, uh, DB says, I would like to join that workshop. Awesome, DB, I will make sure you get the link. Let Linda, I would love to have you join. Everybody out there, I'd love to have you join. I think it'll be fun. End of April, yes, end of April. The date I have right now, I can actually pull up the form. I'm working on it. Uh, man, I think it was Saturday, April 20th. I'm just looking for the form. Hope you guys Don't mind.
Landing page.
Ba ba ba ba. I love doing all this website stuff. All right. I'm opening it here. Ta-da! Yes, so right now I have it scheduled on— This is a good test for me. Can I actually find where I scheduled it on my webpage? That would be awesome. You guys are testing me to proofread this.
I like it.
So it's gonna be— it'll be either Zoom or I have another community type space I might try using. Yeah, Saturday, April 20th, uh, from 8 PM to 10 o'clock PM. That's the current date. I might change it if I need a little more time for people to sign up. All right, cool. There you have it. You guys are awesome. Thank you so much. I'm sorry I gotta head out, but I have school tomorrow. It is 11:15 PM. Have a great, great night. Remember, keep paying it forward with positivity through creativity. Peace out. See you guys soon. Take care. Yeah, never mind. Let's— I'll sign out because I I can keep rambling because I'm excited. See you guys, take care. Finish button's over here. Enjoy the visit. You're welcome.
