Hey everybody, happy Monday! I see Linda H on YouTube. Hey Linda, great to see you. Hope all's well. Hope you guys are all having an awesome Monday. I'm popping on here tonight. I want to— I started this last night. I just want to come back and add some more details to it and just kind of finish it up. So I'm just having my— I have my Sharpie pen and I'm just throwing down some windows, just give a little more detail here. I popped out this kind of street light here, traffic light. Oh, my pups— hear my pup in the other room. Um, there we go. So I just pulled that out, give a little depth on there. There's some hatching on this piece.
There you go.
What else? I don't know how crazy I want to go with this. Thank you, all good here. Hope you had a good day. Thank you so much, I had an amazing— I'm here sketching, it's all good.
I appreciate that. Cool.
I'm really liking this one. I don't know how much more I want to, to, uh, to do to it. I like this kind of vague back in here, just blocks of color. I like the blocks of color happening in here. Yeah, I think it's looking kind of cool. This might be my lord— my lord— oh my gosh, take 2. This might be my shortest livestream. I'm gonna pop a little bit more color on here. I want to brighten some of this up. Up. Um, gotta work in some of our pink on there. Hey, D-Ray is in the house! D-Ray, great to see you. How is everything? I saw your post. I'm sorry you missed. Yeah, you missed last night. I forget what time I popped on. Um, I'm sorry guys, I just don't— I don't have a regular schedule. I feel bad some of you guys miss me, but there's always the replays. Always don't be afraid to watch the replays. All right, cool. So what do we got? I wanted to throw down— what was I saying? Ah, brightness. I want something brighter. I'm not sure. I know we'll throw down some pink on here. Let's do that now. I don't know, I'm actually thinking no pink on this one. What do you think? You guys think I should throw down some pink? Let me know in the chats. Jerry says no worries, you are awesome sauce. Awesome sauce. So I don't even know if that makes sense. Seriously guys, let me know if I should throw pink on here. I'm— my brain's telling me no, no pink on this one. I know that's kind of rare. I am thinking I'm going to bring out a yellow highlighter and just throw— I want to— I feel like I need some vibrancy here. I'm gonna break out a yellow highlighter and we'll throw down some yellow. I cleaned it off a little bit, looks like it has some ink on it. There you go, pretty cool. Let's throw down some highlighter over here. There we go. I just want to pop that out a little bit. I think that works. I like it. I want to do some, some in here a little bit. All right, so we got some in there. Liking it, like it. Wendy's like, "Oh no, no Barbie pink." I know, I'm just feeling— I'm feeling pink isn't gonna go on this one. I don't know why. It looks like pink already on right. Yeah, so yeah, so I did throw in some red yesterday, so maybe some of that red is diluted and looks like pink. Yeah, you know what? No pink, guys. I'm deciding. Putting it to the side. Um, I do know another color. I do want to throw some watercolor on here. I know which color I want to use. Some highlighter there.
All right, cool.
All right, awesome. Let's grab, uh, I'm wearing a sweatshirt. I'm not used to long sleeve means it's driving me crazy. So I keep pulling these sleeves up. Oh, there we go. Um, I want to throw some of this— I call it school bus yellow, I'm not sure what color it is. I really like this yellow color here. I feel like I could use— just kind of brighten it or layer it up in here a little bit more. So let's do that. Let's layer some of that pink up. All right, they say pink. I— did I say layer some of the pink up? Oh my God, maybe I did. My brain's tired. It's been a long day, and I— what a good day. I just had some homework. I'm doing an online course. I'm taking an online course right now to learn some stuff. I did that earlier. My brain is saying it is tired. All right, you can probably hear my voice. Let's grab some of this School Bus Yellow. Um, you can see, like I was talking the other day about how I like to paint on my brush. I kind of roll it in here, spin technique. You can see it's eating away here and there's kind of a hole forming right there. A good shot of it right there. All right, yeah, I want to throw this down. I kind of want to pop some of it here a bit more in there. I want to bring some of this color over to this side here as well, maybe, uh, on this water tap. We just pop some in there, and I think I also want to— I want to throw some down. Let's see, we got some right here, kind of this, this. I feel like I need some up in here, maybe. Sure, why not? You could do it. Just throw some right in there. Add some water just to bleed it out a little bit. Now I'm saying, why did I do that? Here we go. All right, I'm gonna stop before I get too crazy. All right, we'll let that dry.
I'll just spread some here a little bit.
I'm gonna lift some of this up. I'm just dabbing my brush on a cloth over here, and I'm actually lifting some of this paint up. Didn't really look the way I thought it would. All right, cool. Ta-da! Here we go. Hey, Karen's in the house! Great to see you, Karen. Karen says, hey Jason Nicholas Nicholas and D-Ren, so great to see you. Appreciate you, uh, tuning in. All right, cool. I— guys, I'm thinking this one's done. Let's zoom out a little bit. I actually really like this. There's a lot of fun colors in here. I think the one thing I would do want to do last thing is I think I really want to pull this kind of traffic light out a little bit more so it looks closer. So I'm going to boldy it up. I'm going to be brave and live on the edge. I'm going to grab a— not the red one, grab the wrong color— part of my arm and grab a sharp thicker one. Yeah, let's do it. Let's live on the edge and see how it comes out. All right, so the pink is going bye-bye. No pink, no pink on this one. All right, let's do it. I think I need some Sharpie music, some thick Sharpie music. I don't know, do I have any good Sharpie, thick Sharpie music? I don't even know what it would sound like. Um, how about the Quirky Fun? All right, I'm going to click this. It says I call it the Quirky Fun playlist. I don't even remember what I put in here. Let's, let's listen. Be ready for some quirky fun. Is this quirky fun? I guess it's quirky fun. Kind of reminds me of, uh, if you've seen the Sherlock Holmes movies with Robert Downey Jr. Kind of sounds like the theme song to this a little bit. At least that part did. So you can see this Sharpie is pulling this out a little bit more, which is good. That's what I was hoping it would do. Step away and take a look. We'll zoom out so you guys can see. So right, so that thicker Sharpie did help to pull this out, so it's a little bit forward. Hold the pole, bring it forward. Yeah, you boldy— boldied it up, right? You can see it here.
Cool.
You guys think, is this done? Let me know, give me some thumbs ups or put yes or no in the comments. Let me know. Do you guys consider this to be in frame here a little bit better?
There we go. Curious to know what you guys think.
Sharpie, Sharpie, Sharpie! It'd be so cool if Sharpie sponsored me. That would be so awesome. Imagine getting Sharpie products I can test out online live. That would be so fun. You guys know I love my Sharpies. It is done. Thumbs up. Linda H gave me a bunch of thumbs up, so I'm gonna say yes. I'm agreeing with you. This is finished. This one looks cool. I showed you yesterday. Let's take a final look at it. I kind of like this one framed square. This is just a piece of thin paper. I just cut a little opening. Kind of digging this one in a square. All right, let's do it. You can see it there. Here, give me a thumbs up. Awesome, thank you. There you go. Boom. All right, does that look cool square? Yeah, it does. Very, very fun. You guys take a look at it and check out the water. 3-week-old water. Just for fun, I'm gonna get a blank sheet of paper and we'll add— let's put the dirty water on there, see what it looks like. Yeah, Karen says, I like it in the square. Yeah. Me too, Karen. There's just something about— usually I like these scenes in a rectangular format, but I really like this one square. I think the colors balance it out. I like that there's blue here and then— this is fun— blue here and there's blue on the right that kind of balances it, I think. Looking on camera, because it looks a little different. I'm kind of liking these colors are kind of balancing here as well. I like the red arm here of the traffic light, the streetlight in the background. Really cool. This is a fun piece. Perfect. Thank you guys so much. I'm going to add this over here. This one I'm gonna throw— I'm gonna throw a bunch of things on the Etsy page. I have a lot of work ahead of me to put them on there, but it'll be worth it. Yeah, so we'll put this one for sale. Very, very cool. All right, before I go, we'll do one other quick thing. I'm gonna wrap at 9:30. It's a 4-minute— all right, I have this sheet of paper, it's blankish. Zoom out a little bit. Uh, just for the heck of it, let's throw down some of this dirty water and see what it looks like. Use a blank spot up here. I'm actually— so here I'm swirling this water around, kind of see it. It's probably time to get rid of it. I see stuff floating in there. I don't like growing stuff something. All right, this is what the color is looking like. This song definitely belongs on that quirky playlist. I'm just going to grab some colors. I'm not really doing anything here, I just— other than just playing around. Just doing a color throwdown. This is wet on wet technique, so I am just throwing wet layer upon wet layer and we're letting it do its thing. We'll see where it goes. Hey, let's grab some red wine up. Let's grab some of this sparkly purple. This is like '80s, '80s synthesizer vibe going here with this song. All right, I'm just throwing out colors there, messing around, um, on that dirty water just to see what it looks like.
Moving around a little bit.
I'm actually— I really like this color happening here. You can see the sparkly too from the purple as I move this around. All right, enough of that nonsense. Let's put this to the side. All right, guys. I think it's gonna be a wrap. It's gonna be a wrap. Maybe we'll just get something on here real quick. Uh, let's take a Sharpie. We got a color throwdown.
Cool.
Yeah, it was fun just moving those colors around. Let's just end with a, uh, maybe let's do a Brooklyn Bridge stamp here. Real quick, or at least a bridge sketch.
Woo!
That was an interesting song. Fun vibe to it. All right, here we go. All right, so we just kind of got a little Brooklyn Bridge vibe happening. You guys know I love this bridge. Hopefully you're not bored of me sketching it. I am definitely not bored of sketching it. It's never the same twice. That's what makes it really fun for me.
Just kind of shade this area.
This is kind of all in shadow happening here. I'm just hatching, so real quick. These are my favorite kind of sketches. Quick, some hatch lines going on, just create an idea of shadows happening there. I did the same thing up in here, give a little bit of depth to the bridge, right? Let's, let's just kind of give the illusion or idea of some structure happening here. Vertical lines, um, hinting at a perspective. So So this really would kind of get smaller. And then back here, these lines would get closer together. Something like that, just to get an idea of depth. And let's just do some X's here, show some— some kind of guardrails or railings happening there. Pretty cool, right? Um, I love drawing the tension wires on the bridge. So let's do some tension wires. What's really cool about the Brooklyn Bridge, I love— we have some just come down at these angles here like this, really fun. And then we also have some vertical ones as well happening. Like this. Just put this at the top. Boom. Um, let's do a little bit of shadow on the side here, give it some depth. There we go, right? So there you go, you have a just a quick Brooklyn Bridge-inspired sketch there. What else should we add to this? Sketches of American flag on part of the bridge. We can sketch a flag happening maybe on top of it. And I just want to darken the openings here of the— this really cool Gothic Pointed arches on the bridge. And you know what, I feel like breaking out— let's just break out a colored pencil. I really love using colored pencil on this brown paper. Um, hey, Nick Cobb joined us! Nick, how the heck are you? Long time no see, hope all's well. So this is— I love using this brown paper. I got it in sheets at Michaels. Another piece. And what I— one of the things I love using is colored pencil on this paper. It's really thin. So, let's break out some colored pencil and take a look at it. Let's grab two pencils I have handy here. Let's see what I got in here. Oh, I think I see it over there. Let's see if I have— yeah. So, got some colored pencils here, Prismacolor. I love these colored pencils. Right here, you can tell I use this color a lot. So let's break out some of that and we'll pull out some other colors. Is that some color to this? Pro tip. Hey, Nick says, long time no see, love seeing your stuff. Hey, thanks Nick, I appreciate that. Hope you're doing well, man. Hope you're doing well. Let me know if— are you— let me know, are you still in school? I'm not even sure what you're up to. Um, pirate testing is on his day Hey Pirate Testing, how are you? Here's a pro tip. I like to sketch out in the field, right? Urban sketching. I love to sketch architecture and buildings, and I don't always have a pencil sharpener with me, so I'll typically sharpen both ends of a colored pencil. That way, I don't have a sharpener, I can always go to the other side. And it's a little pro tip. Enough about that. Let's just color some blue on here, see what it looks like, guys. This is light aqua. Prismacolor colored pencils go down like butter on these. I wouldn't eat them, but it's so smooth on paper. That's one of the reasons I love the Prismacolor. Look how this is popping. Popping on that kind of brown background. Throw some in here between the arches. Really, really smooth. And look how the bridge is now just kind of popping out, like surrounding it with this blue. I mean, this was a quick sketch, right?
Look how cool that looks.
I'm watching those hatch marks. Yeah, I know I said I was gonna go. I always do that, stay on longer. Karen says, "And drawn well." Oh, thanks. Charlie Chaplin tunes, Linda H said. Oh, did that music sound like Charlie Chaplin? How cool is that? Do hash marks stay consistent in directions throughout the sketch or is it different due to each subject? D-Ray, great question. Excellent question. I never thought about it. I kind of just draw the hash marks. Let's get the other one we did tonight. I think I tend to show them in the same direction. So, if you look here, the hatch marks are just diagonally kind of here, left to right. If you look at this one, it's the same direction. So, for me, I think it's just a habit. I'm used to sketching them from— kind of sketch them this way, right? So, great question. I just tend to keep them the same direction because I'm comfortable with it. I guess another reason is the perspective on this. We're trying to create this idea of depth. Zoom in. So the perspective, if I was to draw the stonework on this and try to get the perspective, the stonework would actually be coming down this way in the perspective view. So that might be why my brain is sketching these hatch lines in that direction to kind of elude. Is it illude or elude? That's why I don't teach language arts. I guess elude. Elude. Oh my gosh, guys, I'm going to stick to teaching architecture and CAD because I have no idea if the words elude, elude, or ilude. But I do it this way too. Capture the idea of perspective. That's what we'll say. I know, guy's crazy. Oh yeah, it's popping. Yeah, right? You guys liking this? I have to say, I think I might be liking this Brooklyn Bridge sketch better than this one. And this one has a lot more time into it. I think it's really cool. I love it. I think I love this one even more. My heart always tends to go back to the black and white, the simple sketches. On my wall over here, it's some Domino Factory sketches and I just, I tend to like the black and white sketches much better. That might be my forte. I love the blue because you're left-handed. Hey, Linda H. Says because I'm left-handed. Linda H, you might be right. Let me know, right-handed folks out there, how would you sketch your hatch lines? I never thought about it being a right-handed, left-handed thing, but totally makes sense. This is cool. Should I throw another color down or leave it? Um, I'm tired too, so you make perfect sense, dear Jesus. Thank you so much. Good, glad I'm making sense to someone up there. All right guys, I'm gonna put this back in my, uh, this is actually really cool. There's another pro tip, I'll throw another one in for free tonight. Let me zoom out a little bit. Um, really cool, you guys have seen these roll bags, different Different companies, different brands make them. Lots of times you'll see paintbrushes in here. I— look what I have in this thing. This happens to be by Lochbie. Lochbie, if you're watching, Lochbie knows I love their stuff. I'm always telling them. I love this because look at all the pens, colored pencils and stuff I can hold in this. Super convenient, easy to carry. It's got a zippered pouch area. No, I'm not sponsored, not sponsored by, by Lockbee. I'm just talking out of love here. I wish I was sponsored. Even in here, look what's in this part. I could— you could put pads here, right? 3.5 by 5.5. You can put paper in there, and this is just an artistic use. I've seen people put tools in here, wrenches screwdrivers. I have a student who's an avid dirt bike rider. I gave him one of these, um, as a gift, and I have to ask him, you know, as a suggestion, maybe he can carry this when dirt biking, you know, put some of his basic tools in here anyways. So if you're looking for a cool carry-all thing for maybe colored pencils or paintbrushes, markers, go for one of these tool rolls. And I love that it's adjustable, so it has these little things in here. You could tighten it, loosen it, kind of what's in it, right? The buckle in there, put it too tight, but I can loosen it. Um, and I can also put another pen or something out here, right, if I wanted. Clip it there, I can slide it through the loop. So a lot of uses for this little roll. There you go. Hey, you guys are awesome. I think I'm going to wrap up. Let me know if you have any final questions, comments, thoughts. Really, really fun. Um, yeah, sign the Brooklyn Bridge. It's gonna sign over here on the side.
We'll just put a heart.
Uh, we're still in January, right? So I'll put 01. For January and then 2, 4 for the year. And sometimes I'll put that in a box just to be cool. That's the cool thing to do, put in the box. Ta-da! All right, let me go back to the comments, see if there's any final questions. He says leave it. Yeah, I'm, I'm done with it. I'm not going to add any more color, and this was light light aqua. If you wanted to know the color, I already said it. I know it's blurry on camera.
Light aqua.
Light aqua. Linda H says top to bottom opposite of yours. Okay, so right-handed hatching, you're going opposite. Good to know. Thank you so much for letting me know. I just take it for granted that everybody out there is left-handed because left-handed Left-handed people are awesome. So are right-handed. Um, Linda says, same with straight lines, you start on the left-hand side and draw straight to the right. Okay, so Linda is drawing like this. So Linda, let me see, you're drawing your hatch lines like this, correct? And then I'm drawing mine like this. So this is right-handed. This is left-handed. I have one last question for you guys, one last. All right, I'm gonna make some— I'm gonna make a check mark. Let's say this is a box. I'm gonna put a check mark in it. This is how I make my check marks. Ready? If you're left-handed watching, let me know, do you also make your check marks like that? And if you're right-handed, let me also know, is this the right way to make a right-handed check mark or a normal check mark, right? So this is, this is me. This is how I've made my check marks like this for years. I don't know if it's a left-hander thing or not. Ta-da! Yes, it is. Hey, Teresa, Teresa on Facebook, how are you? Nice to see you. Thanks for watching. You say you love it? Oh, you're loving, loving the bridge. You know what, I'm— guys, I'm going to put this out for bids for a little auction. It does have some stuff on the back, some pencil stuff. I'm going to throw this out there, see if anybody wants to own this little piece. So I don't know if I'll put it out tonight or tomorrow, probably tonight, and we'll put it out there for a little fun bid thing. Be cool. Uh, this has— this might be one of my favorite Brooklyn Bridge sketches actually. It's really cool. So, um, Linda says yes. Okay. No left. Yes, right. Okay. Got you guys. So I might be the only left-handed person or any person that does check marks backwards. I know I'm crazy. All right guys, I'm gonna wrap up. Um, hey, if you're still on Instagram, Nick was out there. It was great seeing you, Nick. Nick was a student of mine, oh my gosh, 3 years ago, or is it 4? I'm losing count. But thank you, it's nice seeing you, Nick. Pirate Testing also was watching over on Instagram. Over on Facebook we had D-Ray, D-Ray and Karen, you guys are on Insta— on Facebook, I mean. Teresa was also on Facebook. Great to see you guys, very cool. Teresa says everyone needs to walk over the Brooklyn Bridge at least once in your life. Lifetime. So, so true. It was on my bucket list for many, many years. Last year I braved it and crossed it, walked across it. I think last April, maybe. Going to be doing it again real soon. I loved walking the bridge. Beautiful, beautiful views. So great, great point, Teresa. I love that you said that. Left-handed thingy, T-Ray is guessing. You forget the button when you get too tired. Yes, I know. T-Ray's like, come on, shut up, finish this live stream, you're talking too much. Thank you, Linda, enjoy your day. I appreciate you over on Facebook, Linda, thank you. Karen says yes on Facebook, very, very cool. Artz, hey, I see Artz Walleroyt. I don't know if I said that right, but hello, Artz. Art says, hi guys. Art's over on the YouTube. Awesome. Well, Art, thank you for joining. I appreciate you tuning in. I'm just wrapping up. The replays will be available. Guys, you're amazing. I'm going to throw this on the Facebook for some bidding. We'll see if anybody wants to own this little piece. I'll give you a measurement if you're interested. Um, let's see. And again, it's very thin paper. It does have some random pencil sketching stuff on the back, but the size of this is 4.5 by 6, 4.5 by 6.5, 4.5 by 6.5. Ta-da. Um, love that brown paper with aqua. Yes. Great color combination. Here's another thing I love. Notice I didn't try to color the blue solid, right? I left spaces in between. And again, for me, that kind of adds to that, that loose style I love. If I had colored this really all solid in here, for me, it would lose some of that character of the loose— looseness. So I purposely have spaces there. You can definitely see on this edge here, right? Really cool. Art says, how are you, Linda H? All right guys, thank you so much. I appreciate you all so, so, so much. Have an amazing Tuesday. Keep paying it forward with positivity through creativity. And yeah, you guys, I am so happy you tuned in. Peace and live creatively. I will see you real soon. Take care. And D-Ray, I'm gonna find the finish button. Check, check, check. Oh, you are showing checkboxes with a check this way. That's the correct way. This is my way. This just goes to prove, be yourself, unique. Don't be afraid to make your check marks in the wrong direction. Take care, guys. I'm out. Take care. I noticed the music stopped too.
