Hey Tim, how you doing? Hope you're having a great day today. Happy Wednesday. Good to see you. Hope you're feeling better. Alright, so I'm just doing a quick little sketch here tonight. I have a sepia marker, actually, and some chartreuse watercolor brush and a cerulean blue watercolor brush. And just do a quick little scene here. Maybe it's a part of a building with a window, some kind of light fixture, a window. I sketched like a horseshoe or something up here, so maybe it's an old, I don't know, farm built barn type of building or something happening here. Window, maybe some kind of flower, flower box or something underneath here. So I'm just playing around with some textures tonight. Maybe this is some kind of a siding on the house, some kind of wood siding perhaps, maybe wood siding mixed in with some metal siding, combining. Cool. Let's see, I'm gonna break out some graphite, I think. Let's play with some graphite on this, maybe. I'm gonna break out some red on this. I feel like I need a little bit of red. Let's try— I have this red here, I don't think I've used it yet. Carmine red. Let's try some carmine red. It looks really, really intense. Let's just play around and go for it, right? Why the heck not? It actually looks kind of pinkish. So I'm just throwing some of this red and it's turning into a purple as I put it over the blue. It has an interesting color to it. I actually like the yellow and the red mixed together down here. Cool. Yeah, so I got some red on here, some blue, yellow, sepia. I'm not going to add any other colors than what's on here already. And it's just a quick, fun, just playing around with some different line types, messing around with a new color I haven't really used yet. It's all about playtime, right? Playtime. Creativity time equals playtime. So, hope you're having a great day. Happy Wednesday, middle of the week. Tomorrow's Thursday, then Friday. I do remember the days of the week after 8 o'clock at night. I know my brain shuts down a little bit, but days of the week I still remember. So that's a good thing. Cool. Yeah, this is really bright red down here at the bottom for sure. So I'm just gonna blot some of it out, make it a little bit lighter. Cool. Yeah, so just a quick little— maybe part of a building, maybe with a window, some siding. And I'm really just kind of playing around some colors. I have cerulean blue and some red, carmine red, chartreuse on here, sepia. I'm gonna put something in the window. Um, maybe let's put some blue in there, I think. Do I have any on the palette I can just lift off? Add a little bit more. There we go. Just gonna put a touch of blue kind of where the window glass is. There we go. A little bit more, maybe. And I'm just gonna add a little bit of texture with the watercolor crayon right now on here, see how that looks. You guys having a great, great Wednesday. Give me a shout out if you're watching and say hello so I can say hello back to you. I always like to know who's tuning in, spending time. I always appreciate you guys taking time out to hang out, give me feedback and comments. So I'm adding some watercolor stick. I just want to rough this up a little bit, kind of add some aged looks to it, some texture as well. So I just have this prop at an angle because I want some of the colors to run down a little bit. Here we go. So it just adds a little bit of, uh, interest to it, a little bit of streakiness. I think it as another level of interest on here as well. Hope you guys are having a great, great night. I'm looking for my water, I didn't bring it in. Oh, that's okay. Yeah, so you can see the more I add to this, it's kind of taking on a different character than when I first started. When I first started, it was just sepia marker, okay, real rough sketch. Wasn't sure what it was going to be. Then I turned it into just a close-up of a part of a building, maybe with the windows and a flower box. There's a light fixture on the building and some kind of a horseshoe. So maybe it's an old barn type of structure, I'm not sure. I kind of went with that idea and now I'm just trying to add some color and some adding character to it by aging a little bit, adding texture, adding movement, you know, by having these streaks kind of running down the page. So it wasn't— it was pretty flat before, so I just want to add more life to it. Awesome. Hope you guys are having a great, great day or night. I guess it's night. It's nighttime here in New Jersey. Beautiful day, hit the 80s, I think the mid-80s today. Got to take some classes outside and do some sketching. That was fun. Although I had to twist some arms to get them to come out. It was really interesting to, uh, I'm not sure. I don't know when you say to a class, "Hey, you want to go outside and do something?" They didn't really want to go outside. Very interesting. One class didn't want to go out. The other class just totally wanted to stay inside. But that's okay. We went out anyway. We did some sketching. Got some fresh air. I think it's always good to get fresh air when you can. Take a break from the classroom. And we sketched. We sketched part of the school outside, which was kind of fun. I think they ended up enjoying it. I hope they did. Got some really cool looking sketches that they did. I'm just looking at my music here and change my playlist a little bit. Let's see, skip that. That's a good one. Cool. All right, I'm going to break out some more of this red. So this is called Carmine Red. Carmine Red. Although when I put it on the paper, it looks more pink, pinkish, which is cool. I like the color. I like to just sometimes pull it right out of the lid here, use this as my little palette. So let's just, we'll just touch red down in some more places here. I like it over the cerulean blue. It has a— turns into a pretty nice purple color. I'm lightly dragging a brush on the paper just to create this dry brush effect on here. Oops, flip it over. All right, I'm gonna turn it over this way. I just want to add some up here, I think. Just want to drag it. You see, when I'm dragging it, it has a nice texture on the paper. Hey, Siri just came on. What's up, Siri? I'm good. I'm good tonight. Siri is always very helpful. So this is ink, the paper's dry, the brush is fairly dry, so it's kind of the dry on dry technique here, and I like that because it shows the brush strokes when you do that. Here we go, here we go. Flip it that way. Hey, D-Ray, how are you? It didn't even hurt, did it? Sketching outside. No, sketching outside did not hurt. That's so funny. Yeah, I don't— it was really strange. It was like pulling teeth to get them to go outside. They're like, "Oh, it's too hot." I'm like, "Well, find a shady spot. Get some fresh air." It was tough. Tough crowd today. But you know what? We got out, we sketched. I had fun. I think they did too. Hey Donna, how are you? Yeah, good to see you. I am on. I am on. I'm probably only gonna be on for 10 more minutes, 5 to 10 minutes or so, and wrap up. I'm a tired pup tonight, tired pup. Yeah, this is looking kinda cool. I like the textures on it. I'm gonna let it dry a little bit. I don't want, if I keep adding wet on top of wet layers, it's gonna start turning into mud. Mud is cool sometimes if you want a muddy look, but I don't want to mud it up too much. So I'm going to let it dry, and I definitely want to come back and add some more, some more of the blue on here. Actually, I will add some now. I'll just touch it in some spots here. Let's put it down, add a little more blue. I'm making a mess. I got watercolor stick on everything here. I need to wear a bib. I'm gonna start wearing a bib when I paint. It's not art unless what? It's not art unless you wear it. Hello, it is officially art. I am wearing it. I am an artiste. I am an artiste tonight. I'm wearing my art. I just want to highlight some blue in some places here. Sorry, it's crooked. My head's crooked or my camera's crooked, I'm not sure. Wood Sketchbook. There we go. So I just popped a little bit of blue on there. Hey, Donna! Yeah, I'm so glad you were able to catch a few minutes. Cool. That's looking pretty cool. I like this quick little— I don't know how quick was it? I don't know how long I've been on. I like this little sketch painting. Yeah, I think I'm gonna let this dry for now. It's got plenty on there. I might come back after it dries and add some details with a Sharpie or my Uni-ball pen here. I may even touch up some areas with the sepia brush— uh, marker, I mean. Sepia marker. So I'll probably use that and that and this. Those will be the next things I add on here. I don't think I need the yellow and chartreuse. I think that's all good. Actually, I might brush some sepia marker in some places. Here we go. Awesome! I hate it that I missed this. Oh, Donna, don't worry. There will be a video play— replay will be up. You can watch it. It will be on my Facebook page. It'll be on there. And if you're watching the replay, let me know if you have questions. You can always put them in the comments. I try to go back and look through the comments. I don't hit everything or see everything, but I try to go back. So it'll definitely be on there. Cool. Hey, okay, that's awesome. Hey, you guys are awesome. I appreciate everybody so much. I am actually going to head out. I hope you have a great, great, great rest of your Wednesday night. Have an awesome Thursday and a fantastic Friday. I don't think I will be on tomorrow night, so I will be back Friday about 7:45-ish. Saturday is workshop night, so if you're in my workshop, I will see you guys in the workshop Saturday at 7:30. Cool. You guys are awesome. So just to sum this up, you know, started off with a quick sepia sketch. I was kinda messing around. You know how I do freestyle sometimes. So I was freestyling and I kinda saw a window. From there I figured I'd maybe focus on part of that building or, you know, like a window and maybe also got a light fixture, horseshoe. And I wanted to just play around with colors. I have this color Carmine Red, which I haven't really used, so I wanted to play around with that, see what it looked like. So I got that out and my Chartreuse and Cerulean Blue and watercolor. I think I used a black watercolor stick tonight. Which one did I use? I used the, I think it's, yeah, it's the black one. So there you go. So that's kind of the summary. So have fun, you know, mix colors up. Don't be afraid to try to add feeling, emotion, texture, movement to your sketches, your drawings, your paintings. That's why I have like the running kind of stuff running down. I like the movement idea of it. And I'm just trying to— I'm always studying, you know, how to age buildings and how to add a patina, how to make materials look older. That's my personal goal of where I wanna go with my artwork. And develop further. So that is a style that I'm just always practicing and working on. And one day I'll get there. One day I'll get there. But I think I'm definitely heading in the right direction. I feel comfortable. I feel confident that I'm headed down a good road with it. Which is rare for me to say because I don't usually say I feel confident about something. But it's good to be proud of what you're doing, right? You guys are awesome. Take care, have a great, great night. I'll see you soon. Peace. Live creatively. See you soon.
