Hey everybody, hope you're doing well. Happy— what day is today? Saturday, right? Happy Saturday. I'm on really briefly here. Just wanted to come on for a few minutes, do a quick sketch while dinner's cooking in the oven. Actually, it should be done in like 5 minutes, so I won't be on too long. But you guys are awesome. So I'm trying a new setup here on my livestreams, so you might notice my screen looks a little different. I hope you like it. Just adding a little bit of color, trying to organize things, a little bit of branding going on, all that fun stuff. Um, I appreciate you guys so, so much. I see Jason is in the house. Jason says yay. Jason, I wish I had my own paper, but that's actually a graphic. That would be so cool. You know what, I'm gonna have to brand my own paper. Wouldn't that be awesome? Um, it's just a graphic I have to start the show off. So that's kind of my new logo I'm working on. I wish it was mine though. Uh, why is there a countdown? So the countdown is just a 3-minute countdown, so when I start live streaming, give people a few minutes to get notifications, come online, all that stuff. So that's why I did the countdown. Great questions. Hey, Jody's in the house! Great to see you too. Linda H, awesome to see you. Hello Jason, this is a surprise. Yeah, I'm not usually on around 5:30. I have a few minutes to kill before, uh, dinner goes off in the oven. When I hear the oven go off, I gotta run out there. But hope you guys are doing well. Jody says hello, I'm in the house. Yes, Jody's in the house. I'm glad I'm in the house because it is pouring pouring here in, um, here in New Jersey. So let me know, can you guys hear me okay and is my music too loud? Let me know in the comments. So I'm gonna sketch, um, I actually feel like sketching the Domino Sugar Refinery. So I'll pull up a picture. Here's a picture of it. So I'm just gonna do a really fast sketch. I literally have maybe 5 minutes at the most here. So, um, but maybe I'll be back on later with more time. Cool. Let's see. Jason says, yeah, the voice is good. I don't see a group chat though. Is the chat separate? Um, so interesting. So Jason, you are the only person I see watching on Facebook. Facebook, and I have Jody and Linda H are on YouTube. So, um, interesting. So I'm not sure what's going on with the chat. So Jason, maybe you're not seeing a group chat because you're the only one on Facebook. Yeah, the music might be a little bit lower for you guys. Sometimes I drown you guys out with the music. Anyway, you guys are awesome. Let me do some sketching here. So I'm just using the Domino Sugar Factory. This is some inspo here. This is a photograph I took of the building. I had a really cool site visit there, I think back in April, I think it was. I love, I love this building. It's— they are converting this building into office spaces now. Oh, and it's in Brooklyn, not too far from the Dumbo area. Well, actually, see, I took a ferry from the Dumbo— I took a ferry from the Dumbo area to— man, I forget which park. It was either one or two ferry stops. But anyway, that's one— that's how I got here. I took a ferry, which was awesome. Taking the NYC ferry is so cool because you get amazing views of skylines and bridges, and I got to go under the Brooklyn Bridge here. It was, uh, so cool. And the Manhattan Bridge, good stuff. All right, so I am just sketching with a Sharpie right now, quick, fast, loose. You guys, maybe you know my style. If you're just watching for the first time I'm all about just kind of keeping my architectural drawings very, very loose. I'm never trying to replicate a photograph that you see with precision and detail. I shouldn't say never. I'm rarely trying to do that. When I sketch, I like to sketch fast, loose, and quick. Captures a kind of a feeling or an energy of the subject I'm looking at. And I actually have a framework that I put together using the letters sketch, S-K-E-T-C-H, and I'll be talking more about the framework and break it out for you guys and It's a good framework maybe you could use as a reference to kind of get into my brain and how I sketch the way I sketch, the mindset of it, and also the actual technical part, you know, the throwing the lines and colors and stuff down. Awesome. Here we have the cool Domino's factory sign. So I have like 2 minutes here, so let's— it's gonna kind of write this in quick here. It's in script. I'm not gonna do it quite the justice right now, but just to get the idea, it says Domino's in script, and I think this is, uh, not scripted here. I've done a few sketches of this building because I really do love it a lot, and it's a subject I like to revisit. Subjects I like, um, you guys will have— you'll know that I've sketched the Brooklyn Bridge many times, and each sketch is different, which is what I love. I'm not making Xerox copies. Can I say that? Photocopies? Do I have to be generic? Um, but I'm not making photocopies of each sketch. They're all different, they're all unique, and it depends on the mood I'm in, depends on the materials I'm using, it depends on how much ink is in my Sharpie. This one, this one's getting low. Depends on the music I'm listening to. There's a lot of factors that go into why my sketches look different. Cool. We got some brickwork, so I'm gonna just go do this, just indicate there's brick happening. So I may put together a slideshow sometime that with the photos I took of this building, you can see really cool details of it. I'm gonna actually come back a little further in the distance here, but that's okay. And just for the heck of it, I'm gonna throw some shadows, some hatching, make it look like there are shadows on this side. This is actually a round chimney up here. So I'll just add some hatching here like that. And I am hearing the oven go off, so I'm gonna wrap it in a minute. Let stuff cool down in there. So I'm just hatching this just to create the idea of that this side of the building is in a little bit of shadow here. This is a really cool big open space on top with these amazing glass windows and a vaulted barrel vault or arch ceiling here. It's a really cool space and I do have photos inside there. This should be fun to show. All right, cool. So that's just a real quick sketch of the Domino Sugar Factory. Um, haven't seen you in a long time. Yeah, so I've been on and off, more off lately because I've been so busy. My school year started up, been so, so busy with school and exhausted at night. So I'm still doing sketching, but I haven't been on live as much. Um, all the wind is picking up. Oh man, yeah, be safe out there. I know the weather is wonky. Jason Nicholas Nicholas, uh, but I haven't logged in— I've logged luggage in 20 years on the subway. Oh, that must have been fun. Sounds like quite the adventure with the luggage there. Could have been Uber driver to the city, but oh well. Someone in Brooklyn took them to Queens. Gotcha. "I didn't understand your style for a while. I just recently joined an architectural drawing group on Facebook. I understand more and more." That's cool. That's an interesting comment. Um, so I'm curious what you didn't understand, and that's awesome. I'm glad you didn't understand it because that means I'm doing something different that maybe you haven't seen before, and I like the fact that, um, I'm doing something a little bit different. I'm not copying anybody else's artwork out there. There's amazing, amazing architectural sketchers and illustrators that are leaps and bounds above my talent. And my goal is just to be me and express my own voice. And, uh, I'm happy doing that. It's a lot of fun and it's a journey, right? Things can change, so my style will change, I'm sure. Um, yeah, good stuff. You're an artist but probably could architecture drawings. I wasn't good at math. Yeah, so I'm— as you guys know, I'm— you may know I'm an architect as well. And, um, there is math involved if you can do square footages and add feet and inches and all that fun stuff. And I haven't really gotten too complex of math with architecture. And if I need to do like structural calculations, there's software and all that stuff that I use for that. Cool. All right guys, so that's just a quick sketch of the Domino Sugar Factory. Um, hope you enjoyed it. I plan on being back on sometime this weekend. I have a long weekend, which is nice. So, uh, maybe I'll be on tonight, or if not tonight, probably sometime tomorrow. Thank you guys so much for watching. I appreciate you all. Have an amazing, amazing rest of your day. Um, guys, if you can scribble, you can sketch architecture. I truly believe it. Peace. Live creatively. I'll see you guys real soon. I got stuff to take out of the oven. Take care. See you, Linda, and see you, Jason, and Jody, I saw in the house also. And if you're watching a replay, hey, hope you're doing well. And if you're watching and you didn't comment, that's cool. I still appreciate you guys just as much. But always feel free to leave a comment on Facebook or YouTube. I check them, and I'd love to know who's watching so I can give you a personal shout-out. All right, see you guys. Take care. I'll be soon. I'll be soon? Pfft. Yeah. I don't know what that meant. I'll see you soon. Take care. And I did not do my hair. Good night. See you guys.
