The Inkspired Life - Sketching & Painting : Inking Out Loud

In this informal live stream, the creator greets viewers, shares a spontaneous night‑time sketch of a windmill using a Sepia brush pen, graphite, water, and a chartreuse wash, and engages the audience in real‑time decisions about background color. Throughout the brief 2‑3 minute session, the host discusses technique nuances, experiments with color (cerulean blue, gray, yellow, chartreuse), and reflects on a daily sketching habit. The stream concludes with gratitude toward the community, a reminder of an upcoming workshop starting May 1, and an invitation to bring a friend for free (buy‑one‑get‑one).

Hey, Jeannie, how are you? Thank you. Hope you had a great weekend too. Yeah, mine was awesome. Just wrapping down and winding down Sunday night with a quick sketch. Thanks for watching and tuning in. I appreciate it. Very unannounced, as always. I just wanted to pop on before I went to bed. I had the inkling to just draw a windmill. Oh cool, you did a windmill last week. Awesome! That's so cool. Yeah, I haven't done a windmill sketch in a long time. I've always been fascinated by them. I love the structures. Hey, uh, yeah, Genie. Yep. Genie. This is, uh, this is Sepia, Sepia Brush pen that I'm using right now on here. Still learning how to control it and play around with it. Sometimes you have to be very light on the touch, sometimes you can kind of push down hard, but depends on the effects you're trying to get. Hey Linda, how are you? Good evening to you. Yeah, you know what, it's— this is a cool pen. I do like the way it bleeds also. It's kind of fun. I'm trying to, uh, want to make it look a little more round, so that's what I'm working on right now on this shape. So I might actually take some graphite with the sepia and then just use the graphite just to darken some of it. I hope everybody had a great weekend. I'm only going to be on for like about 2 or 3 more minutes and I gotta get ready to head to bed. I thought it would be fun to just do a little quick sketch tonight, just to keep my rhythm going. I've been doing sketching every night for a long time. Not always live, but doing some kind of a sketch every day. And I hadn't done one yet today. Been so busy, so I wanted to make the time to do it today. Excuse me. It's a fun little windmill. Debating whether or not I want to color the background in. Um, maybe, maybe not. If I did, I would probably do blue, a cerulean blue. I'm not sure if I'm going to color it though. I might just leave it at this for now. So if you like this lighthouse— I mean, lighthouse, whoa, that's how late it is, it's almost bedtime. Windmill. Let me know, give me some thumbs up, give me some hearts if you like it. Love to hear your feedback on it. Again, this is a quick sketch. Just wanted to do one for today. I hadn't sketched anything yet. Figured I'd do something before I went to bed tonight. Let me know if you like this. Hey, Don, good to see you. Hope you're having a great night. Hey, thanks, Don, I appreciate that. That's awesome. Thanks for liking this, yeah. Do you guys think I should, um, do you think I should color the background just blue? Very light cerulean blue or a pale wash of it? Or do you like it just kind of with the white background? Or I could do a light wash of gray. Maybe just some charcoal— not charcoal, some graphite. Let me know, graphite background, blue background, or no background. See what you guys think. It's too late for my brain to decide right now. If you're watching and you didn't say hello, hello, good to see you. Hope you're having a Great day. Hope you had a great weekend. And hope you're ready for Monday. Light wash of blue. I see Jeannie says a light wash in blue. I personally could use another day this weekend. As much as I love what I do, I love teaching, I am tired. So I could use a break. Yay, yes, I am up late, Karen. Yeah, thank you. Especially on a Sunday. I just didn't do any sketches today. I wanted to pop on and just do a sketch. I've been sketching something every day for I don't know how long, and I couldn't let today go by without doing a sketch of something. I'm not always live, you know, sketching, but I always do find time to sketch. So I wanted just to pop on quick and see what you guys are saying. "Like the way it is, but you always surprise with the color." Hey, thanks, Dawn. Yeah, sometimes I get radical. Sometimes, you know, fluorescent pink, I'll break out sometimes, or blue. Actually, the other color I'm thinking— you know what I'm thinking? Yeah, let's do color, but you know what I want to use? I think I'm going to bring out the chartreuse. I said it. I did say it. Chartreuse. I can't spell it, but I can say it. Let's put some chartreuse background on here. See what it looks like. Why the heck not, right? Let's just have some fun. So you guys are awesome. As always, I appreciate you guys logging in and your comments and your hearts and all that and sharing. Let's share this out there. Let's get more people watching. I always appreciate your support, guys. You're awesome. So I'm just gonna put some music on here for my last I'm gonna log off and say 10:37, 10:45, I'll be outta here at 10:45 so I can get to bed. I'm gonna hold myself to that. Usually I go over and over and over 'cause I love it so much. But I have to put a timeframe on it for me. All right, let me put some music on. You know, let's wind down. We'll put some Chartreuse on the background. Just because. Let's do it. I'm going to take out my 3/4-inch brush, open up some water here, and then just see how it goes. So I like to put the color down on— sorry, I keep moving this around like crazy. I'm just trying to look at the camera, make sure it's all good. So I like to put it down on the board sometimes and then lift it off the board or canvas and ink it on the paper, but we'll see. Heather, I don't— Heather, was it you that I saw that, um, posted a castle? Today. If not, I apologize. I'm just trying to remember. I saw a castle earlier and it was pretty awesome. So I think— I thought it was you, Heather, but I can't remember. My brain always turns off like after 8 o'clock. Whoever did that castle, it was pretty cool. Oops. There you go. I actually like the yellow in the background. I think it's brightening this up very much so. Oh good, Heather, I got it right! Yes! My memory's not that bad. That was cool, yeah, great, great castle. Awesome stuff. Love seeing it. Love seeing all of your artwork. Everybody, you guys do amazing, amazing things. Yeah, thanks. I think the yellow is looking pretty good. Sharpen the focus a little bit. It's getting washed out a little bit on screen, but that's okay. I don't think I'm going to add too much more onto it, actually. So put a little, a little bit on the windmill itself. Just a little smattering. I guess, can you smatter? Can you smatter watercolor? I guess you could smatter it. I know you could splatter it. So I put a little smatter on here. Just want to tint it up on the front of the building. Um, I should put some on here. Try it this way. Where's our brush pen? Here it is. Alright, let's see. I'm just trying to lift a little yellow off. Just touch this on here. It might be easier if I just put the brush pen on here a little bit. There we go, that's better. I was trying to brush it on with the water brush, but it's easier just put it on with the pen at this point. I just want to put some yellow just to accent it, just to give it a little bit of highlight, a little bit of— maybe the sun is sort of— yeah, the sun's just reflecting off here a little bit. Cool. I think that's enough yellow on there. Or sorry, chartreuse. I love just saying that word, chartreuse. Such a cool word. One of these days I'll learn how to spell it. All right. I think with that, this windmill is a wrap for the night. Let me check in and we'll bid adieu for the evening. There we go. So we have our windmill. Gra— what did I use tonight? I used a Sepia brush pen, I used some graphite, some water, and some chartreuse. And that's how we made this bad boy. There we go. Awesome. Hey, so, Jeannie, yeah, good night, have an awesome week. Yeah, guys, y'all did make a big difference, I agree. I mean, I really like it on there. You guys are amazing, I always appreciate you watching and tuning in, especially when it's so late on a Sunday when I just pop on randomly. Thank you, thank you so much.
