Chapters
Hey, Jason Nicholas Nicholas from The Inkspired Life, where I love sketching architecture and the world around me one line at a time. I am super, super excited. I spent a lot of time creating this really cool tool. For a long time, I've been trying to get out of my head my sketching process, kind of things that inspire me to go down a sketching journey. Um, sometimes the world around me is really kind of chaotic, and, you know, just things like just a lot of ideas going on in my head, or teaching, doing stuff for The Inspired Life, wanting to sketch, just real world stuff. And one of the ways I kind of filter the world and process the world and break it down is through sketching. Sketching is a really great tool for me just to just to process things. I love it and it's fun. And I wanted to share with you guys kind of my method or steps I take when I approach the world of sketching. So I created this really cool tool called the Sketch Success Survival Guide. It's actually a downloadable PDF file and I printed out a copy here just to, to show you kind of what it looks like. If you're interested, I do have a QR code on the screen. There's also an online link here as well and in the comments. I would love for you to check it out and download a copy. So the Sketch Success Survival Guide really is, it's a framework. I created a map of different steps in the sketch process using the word sketch as kind of an acronym. For example, on the map we have Spark Sanctuary, Kingdom of Curiosity, Embrace Imperfection, Territory of Loose Techniques, Comparison-Free Coast, and Haven of Happiness. So each one of these, these realms or worlds or lands is a different place for you to explore, explore with different prompts. This isn't really a how-to guide on how to create architectural sketching, but it's more of an inspiration and mindset type of tool. So let's just— we'll take a quick look at here. So here's Embrace Imperfection, Expand. I feel like one of the things that stops a lot of people from creating anything in general is feeling like we have to do something that's perfect. If I sat down and felt like I had to do a perfect architectural sketch, you know, make the building look precise and to scale, all the right colors, that's not— that's gonna stop me. That's gonna block my creative flow. I just want to capture the essence or the personality. I'm not worried about being perfect. And one of the things I do to kind of conquer that is I use a Sharpie and because once I know the ink is down, it's down, and I gotta go with it. So this is just one of the pages in the book, uh, Imperfection Expands. I have some mindset tips, I have some journal prompts, I have a try this activity as well, and then I kind of have a note at the bottom, like a quote, "Perfect is boring." So really, this guide has different examples you could go through and different prompts. You can use it in any order you want. There's no particular order. It's just pick it up for some inspo. You could print it out like I did. You can print it out smaller, maybe make a pocket copy. You could keep it as a PDF file on your computer or maybe your tablet and use it electronically. So however you want to use this, there's a lot of room for your interpretation because really this guide is an exploration for you to discover more about yourself and to develop more creative and sketching habits. Um, so hope you guys check out the guide, it's really cool. And I have just kind of a gear list of things I use here, and there's one other page, let's see, I'll show you quickly. Um, I have a survival guide. I have checklists in here. This is kind of cool, the Sketcher's Creed. So, I will sketch with wonder. I will leave perfection behind. I will chase inspiration and celebrate my scribbles. I will embrace the shaky, honor the imperfect, and trust the story my lines tell. I will not erase my joy. I will draw with courage. Curiosity and play. So I thought this would be a cool thing to include in here. You could sign off on it. So again, I hope you guys check out my Sketch Success Survival Guide. Uh, there's more down the road that I'm gonna be tying into this. Um, yeah, something really fun and exciting. So I'm currently working on that. All right, thank you guys so much. I appreciate y'all so, so, so much. Um, Sketch boldly, live creatively, and inspire endlessly. This is Jason Nicholas Nicholas with The Inkspired Life. Have an amazing, amazing rest of your day. Keep using your creativity for positivity.
