Tia Lake argues that AI's real value isn't profit but the human moments it enables. When automation saves time, people can build trust, clarity, and dignity with each other. She builds AI to free people for work only humans can do, not to make them work faster.

What if the most important return from AI isn't the one on the balance sheet? We measure what technology saves, produces, and earns, but we rarely measure what happens when that saved time becomes a real human interaction, or what we lose when it doesn't. A thoughtful conversation can return trust. A moment of attention can return clarity, dignity, hope, a referral, or even the client coming back to you. That is what I call the human return. It's why I build automations and AI solutions, not so people can do more and be more, but so that they have more time for the moments only people can create. I wrote more in this week's journal.
