A short YouTube talk by Tim Frey arguing that being polarizing is an effective way to stand out on social media. Frey cautions this doesn't mean being "crazy" online, but suggests polarity can act as a branding/marketing "superpower" to infiltrate minds and drive visibility.
If you think of anyone who's really, quote, unquote, cracked social media in the last couple of years, they're pretty polarizing. If you just agree and follow the crowd and do what everyone else is doing, it's very hard to stand out. Not saying it's a strategy to go be crazy on the Internet and do wild, but I'm saying there's something in this. And if you want to stand out and you want to have polarity and you really want to infiltrate someone's mind, or in terms of branding and marketing and sales and these types of things, being polarizing is a little bit of a superpower.
