Foreign. Welcome to the Success School Podcast. I'm your host, Tim Fray, and today we're talking about power lists. Okay, so what to expect from this episode is it's essentially how to get the most out of every single workday that you guys have in your business. Time is the only commodity you can't get back. So we want to maximize our time in business. I'm sure everyone could agree with that. There's a quote or saying I like here, and it's fail to prepare, Prepare to fail. And this all comes in with this podcast episode because it's all around the same topic, and it's planning and preparing your week, and then specifically about your days. And that's where the power list concept comes from. So the powerless concept as well. It's really important because you want to enjoy your life at the same time. I know a lot of entrepreneurs are out there, and they just work to the bone. There's two different types of entrepreneurs. Usually there's the ones that work to the bone, and they just, you know, go balls to the wall. They go so hard. They work 12 hours a day, 14 hours a day. Nothing matters. Friends don't matter. Relationships don't matter. Their health doesn't matter, and they just want to hustle and make money. And then on the other hand, there's the ones that probably don't do enough, and they're, you know, they're not really taking the action that they need to be successful. So this is for someone that kind of wants to sit in the middle. They want to have success. They want to. They want to grow their business. They want to make money. They want to have a great life. And the key word there is they want to have a great life. Okay. And this is where the power list concept comes in. So before I get into that, I want to give you guys a little bit of an update. What's going on in my other business. So Success Schools is the coaching program that I run with my wife, but I actually have a gym as well called Helix Gym. We're actually going through some upgrades at the moment. So it's our biggest investment we've ever put into any business we have ever owned, which is massive. So Helix Gym is, like, my passion project. I fucking love it. Like, I literally can't get enough. It's what I would do and not get paid for it. I actually. Yeah, when I did start out as a personal trainer, I was making no money for the first few years. But I love personal training so much. It was just one of my Passions. I would have done it for free forever, but eventually I fell into other business ventures. But we're going through this upgrade at the moment. And why I'm going through the upgrade is, you know, I constantly think to myself, if I'm not moving forward, I'm moving backwards. And there has to be innovation in a business or it has to be innovation in what you're doing. And the innovation curve or the timeline for me has probably been about three and it's probably been about a year overdue. So we're doing it now because I want to have the gold standard of group training gym in Australia. I want to be the best strength conditioning gym in Australia. And we need the upgrades for that in terms of the actual facility and the type of training I can run, but also on the back end in terms of the client experience. So the client experience is a massive piece in the overall enjoyment or success of any business. So we have redone the back end. We've created a school community that's skol community, has our onboarding, has all our programs, has our processes, has our nutrition course, has literally everything on this really sweet app where it also has like a member engagement community as well. So school is kind of like a Facebook group as well, which is great because you just get off Facebook and I fucking hate that app. Anyway, so essentially we've upgraded the back end, improve the client experience, made it a lot easier to get going and start and get a result with us at the gym. On the front end, upgrading the gym six figure, not mostly six figure, but six figure upgrades going into the gym, which is going to be incredible. So if you're not a gym person, you're like, what's this guy talking about? But from a business point of view, you know, innovation every 18 months to 24 months is key for a business and you have to be moving in the right direction. Your clients and your customers want to see that if you're not growing, you are dying. So I had to be prepared for this upgrade and had to be prepared for what's coming next. And that's my segue into this topic. You have to be prepared for your weeks, and that's on a micro level, not a macro level. On a macro level, I'm preparing for the next steps in the evolution of my business, Helix Gym. On a micro level, I'm going to teach you guys how to plan your days effectively right now on this episode. So how you do this is with Power Lists. Okay, so you're going to write down 3 to 5 power list items per workday. Okay, so these are going to move the needle in your business. What I mean by things that move the needle in your business. Some examples of this are like writing an email campaign, calling 20 prospects, writing a landing page, doing 10 courtesy calls to current clients of yours. Improve one part of your client experience. I listed out five things there and I'm sure you can agree all of those would move the needle in a business. There are other exercises which are non needle moving exercises like checking your emails, like doing or creating a canva design or scrolling social media. And that's what a lot of entrepreneurships entrepreneurs get stuck with. They do stuff that doesn't move the needle. The whole concept of powerless items is we're focusing on things that are going to move the needle in your business. So we're going to list out three to five powerless items per workday. They have to move the needle. So let's hypothetically say you do five days a week, you do three tasks a day. That's 15 tasks per week and 280 per year. So take a step back. Whatever business you're in right now, imagine you did 780 power list items for the entire year. What would your business look like? This is a massive conundrum and a problem in business because entrepreneurs just aren't taking enough action. And I see this literally every day in my program. Success school is the ones that take the most action get the best results. Let me repeat that to you again. The entrepreneurs that take the most action get the best possible results. So we've got that. We've got time blocking. We don't have time blocking. We're going to get there next. But we have powerless items, three to five of them. Now we're going to talk about time blocking. So there's nothing more frustrating when you're going into a block of work and you want to execute on some really important tasks in your business and your phone rings and you're like who the fuck could this be? Can this be important? Because you've just completely interrupted my flow. Really simple hack here and it's not even a hack. This is so stupidly simple that I'm even telling you this. But just turn your notifications off and put your phone on do not disturb. So anytime you go into a time blocking period, time blocking period for me is an hour to four hours. Usually I turn my phone off, emails off, WhatsApp off. Everything that could interrupt me goes off. I tell my wife, do not interrupt me, do not come into the room, Nothing is as important for me as getting this work done. So what you want to do three to five powerless items per day, time block, five days a week at least. If you're working five days a week, one to four hour blocks during that time block you are going as hard as possible to complete those powerless items. Usually for me I can smash most of that out in a two to three hour period and then I have completed the major tasks for my day. So how I usually set up my days is I get up at 4:30 in the morning, I go to the gym, I do group training at my gym, I actually train there. I don't coach there anymore, I just run it as a business like I'd encourage a lot of you guys to do. At some point I come home, have a coffee with my wife, spend some time together, we walk the dogs, have a quick break and then we usually jump on a coaching call for success call at 8:00am That's Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday. Sunday is a little bit different. But after that I will time block a one to four hour period where I will get really important stuff done. Then I know by 12 or 1 o' clock I've trained, I've had some quality connection with my wife, I've walked my dogs, I've eaten, I can have a really nice lunch and I have done the three to five powerless items for the day. That sounds pretty incredible, doesn't it? And this is where the issue comes in. People don't make time for moving the needle on the business and not in the business. Moving the needle on the business is key to your success, not in it. And in it means just doing stuff that doesn't move the needle in your business. So like literally conducting the service. So if I, well I do own a gym, but in my gym, working in the business would be running the coaching sessions. That's not proactively growing the business. That's the differentiation that you need to make there. So you know, not recommended at home. And I'm not telling you guys you have to do this next thing, but a friend of mine actually we were talking about concentration the other day and he was like there is this secret concentration stack that if you try it you will have incredible productivity. So first thing, cold shower. Second thing, nicotine gum. Apparently haven't done this. I have never done any of this stuff. Well, I've done cold showers, nicotine gum. Third thing, dexy. Fourth thing, double shot of coffee. He says he does this every time he does a powerless block or a time block. Okay. Cold shower, nicotine gum, dexy double shot coffee. And he said, you're basically becoming one with the matrix. Time moves slower and you can just get anything done. You literally could get a hundred tasks done in that three to four hour period or whatever that is for you. So we've got that down pat now. So you guys know what time blocking is, you know about powerless items, you know about the concentration stack. I want to teach you a little bit of a story on this. So there's a common trend in my coaching program success goal. I did mention this previously, but the ones that do better use this exact version of the process. And I'm talking 60, 70, $80,000 a month businesses. So pretty good sized businesses. And the question I have for you here is do you think these super successful business owners that I talk about have a plan or they're simply winging it? And the answer is pretty simple here. The ones that are super successful have a plan. They're using a process exactly like this or similar to this. Okay? And I don't care if you're someone that says something like I work better on the fly, I don't have time to plan. Plans are boring. If you want to build a seven figure business and beyond, you need planning. The power list is the way to do that. All you guys need to do is just follow the process, do the power list every single day. So just a little bit of a tactical takeaway here. I like to chunk my power list into doing days. So Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday are my main doing days on power list items. Okay, Thursday, Friday I usually coach and weekends are more for you, quote unquote self discovery, enjoying my life, spending time with friends and family, etc. So what I'll do is I will do my power list items on a Sunday for the week ahead usually. Sometimes I can have up to 20 from my 90 day plan and then I'll divvy up the seven most important ones on Monday, second seven most important ones on Tuesday and then the final six will be on Wednesday. So that's my process. So I know that in my three day week, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, I am going so hard at getting the tasks done in all my businesses that need to be done by me. Which leads me to talking about my next episode. We're going to be talking about five versus $50 an hour tasks and how to outsource. So essentially you never have to work a day again. Okay? This is the key and this is the hack. How I went to Europe for three weeks and didn't do too much. Okay. I have most of the tasks in all of the businesses that I run outsourced and they are run by other people. We came back to Perth and things were done. And things were done very well. Okay. We could step straight back into our business. If that sounds like a pipe dream for you. It's not. And I'm going to teach you how to do it in the next episode. And lastly guys, just a little bit of housekeeping. This is the first time I have asked for this, so subscribe or follow the show if you got some value from this episode. This podcast grows predominantly by word of mouth. I do do reels and TikTok. But if you got some value from this show, please share it with someone else. And lastly, leave me a review, please. I would appreciate that. Five star reviews obviously go a long way and I do appreciate those. I would like to rock it into the charts. I think we have just cracked into England and Ireland as well. Australia and usa. They are the staples of the main two. Thanks guys, have a great day.
