How to WIN the rest of 2024 - three strategies that will make you profit NOW!

Tim Frey and Steph break down three ways to grow a service business through the end of 2024: make daily invites across social and email, send 3-6 emails per week to your list, and use cheap lead magnets with paid ads to get names for $1-$3 each, then nurture them into calls.

Usually 3–6 emails per week; minimum once per week (aim for daily/daily-communication as capacity allows).
Aim for $1–$3 per name/email (hosts cite $3 leads example).
Tim cites spending $3,000 to acquire ~1,000 leads (≈ $3 per lead) in one example.
Steph states a personal goal of 50,000 people on her email list in the next 12 months; Tim implies higher but unspecified.

The number one issue that we see with entrepreneurs right now is that they're also hungry to make a sale, that they're not valuing any kind of lead. And so they're thinking to themselves, like, oh my God, I've got this lead now. How do I make money from them straight away? That's where you're going wrong. Because the value of a lead will actually increase over time.
On your list, the only one place which is the most underrated, undervalued social media tool at the moment is your personal Facebook page.
I knew you were going to say that.
Foreign. Welcome to the Success School podcast. We are on episode 60. Super excited. Today we are talking about how to win the rest of 2024 in business. This is going to be a little bit tactical, a little bit strategic. We're going to give you some stuff that you can implement right away in your business. If you do, let us know how it goes. We would love to hear that. So I'm going to kick off with our personal updates. So we were doing some business networking and we were networking with some people that were doing some big in business and they were really good operators. It was very eye opening for me. I think it was eye opening for Steph as well. But you know, there were some people doing up to a million a month, which is pretty crazy in a coaching niche or a coaching business. We thought we were killing it, but then we just realized we were king of our own sandboxes, which is great. And it's the old notion. I guess what I got from it is if you're the smartest person in the room, you're in the wrong room. We did learn a lot. I think the main thing, and a lot of people ask me this is what did you take away from that experience? They're not doing more than us, they're just doing it better. So if you're listening to this and you're like, what is Steph and Tim doing that I'm not doing? We're probably just executing at a higher level in terms of the quality that we produce. And what are people doing that are doing a million dollars a month and we're not? They're just executing at a higher level than what we're doing. So a lot of times it's once you have that base level of action dialed in, it's not about doing more or more ads or more creatives or more posts or more reach outs or more follow ups may for sale, maybe more follow ups would help you, but it's just about Doing it better to take it to that next level. Is that kind of what you.
High quality? Yes, so much more dialed, like, higher quality, you know, really refined processes. You know, I'll give you an example. Like, just little things like sales call processes. Like, they're just so dialed. You know, they've dialed in five or six aspects of the sales call and they've got them broken down into segments. And they're breaking them down into like, you know, this is where it, you know, most sales calls fall apart. And so they'll change, like languages or not languages. I don't speak languages.
They go German to English in their. That was cool. Just to fuck with people.
So they will change, like the language that they're using to be, you know, more emotional or more logical or to move somebody to a different action. And they do this across every second of their business from retention through to, you know, lead acquisition ads. Like, everything is just so dialed. And, you know, Tim and I realized that we probably were doing everything. We just. We don't have it as dialed. And so that was a really cool opportunity for us to, like, now we're just really refining and dialing, which has been really fun for us, actually. 100% so good. My personal update would be that at the same event we saw a guy present who I didn't know, I've never heard of him before. Names Taylor Welch.
I knew him. Tim was at a man crush.
Yes, he had a man crush. He's like, oh my God, a couple of. He's gonna be here the whole time. Who is this guy anyway? Some sort of like, big dude, Whatever. He did some. He did some cool stuff.
Some like, Taylor, you're a big dude.
Some funnel hacking stuff. Like, you know, a couple of years ago, big, big business grew. His business for like 25 million was apparently the man around town for a bit of time there. And that all that stuff was cool and very imp. But I think what impressed me the most was that, you know, they hyperscaled their business many, many times. Actually, every business that he's had, he kind of hyperscaled. And one thing that he said, sitting from where he's sitting now, where he's just, you know, walked away from lots of businesses, shut a lot of businesses down because he realized that his health and his family and his happiness mattered more than, you know, these businesses, was that I think a lot of people put too much value on growing fast rather than growing sustainably. And he spoke a lot about that and about how, you know, there's a saying in the US army that slow is smooth and smooth is fast. And I think that the business culture has been for too long favoring fast growth. And honestly, it's, it's not fun. Like Tim and I will tell you, like fast growth, it feels fun at first because you're com. I'm making so much money, but it's so stressful and it's not good for your body and it doesn't last. Like everything breaks and you have to fix it and then you're band aiding stuff. And so, you know, it was a really cool reminder, I think, for anyone listening. And I thought I'd share that with you guys because it's a beautiful reminder.
Just a little bit of a tangent on that. We're having breakfast this morning with our friends Steph and Kate, and we were talking about when someone says they need fast growth now or they need clients yesterday. Just give me your take on this. Steph, I know this is a little bit on the spot and unplanned, but if you need fast growth now, usually what happens in that situation, either you.
Take on, usually you take on the worst kind of clients. So, you know, even if you manage well, either you won't get any clients at all because you're so desperate that they'll feel it and they'll smell it, or you'll get clients but you'll have dropped your price and, you know, taken on really low quality clients just to get money in the door. And then you usually over leverage because you massively over promise and then have to massively deliver. You end up hating it and you, yes, it solves the money problem immediately, but it basically creates all other problems for the next six months. Usually.
Yeah, for sure. All right, guys, we're going to switch gears into our topic. So today we're talking about how to win for the rest of 2024 in business. This is actionable, strategy focused, and all the shit you are going to need to win. But the caveat here is you have to do it. Okay? We can give you strategies till you're blue in the face, but if you don't action them, they are not going to work. Okay? That might seem wild, but most of the time things that come up for people are mindset related. Hey, I can't send the email. Hey, I can't do the offer. Hey, I can't make that offer. That doesn't align with me. I'm worth more. So if these things are coming up in your head before we even go into, or as we say these things, there may be an issue with the mindset component that we need to address. Okay. Because taking action, everyone knows, is the name of the game in getting anywhere in business. But if there's a block for you taking action, it's going to be some issues.
Yeah, it's going to be hard for you to get done for sure.
Steph, do you want to kick us off with our first actionable thing that they can do to win?
So I'd say that, you know, the last couple of months in business in Australia, at least that we can see. And actually from having conversations, it's been pretty tough out there. I think that it's harder and harder. I think more and more people are getting more hungry. There's a lot more noise being made on the Internet. And I think that what you need to do at a time like this is you actually need to show up with a little bit more energy. And I think this is the number one thing that we need to talk about when it comes to how to win the rest of 2024 in business. And something that we've been working on a lot, something that we've been giving our clients to do a lot that they've been absolutely crushing with. And the reason our clients are having a lot of success is to make daily invites inviting people constantly to experience your world. Whether that's to listen to a podcast, whether that's to watch a YouTube training, whether that's to join you in a masterclass, whether that's to book a free call, whether that's to buy a small mini course or a low ticket offer, whether that's to join your big high ticket thing, whether that's to, you know, like download a lead magnet. But making a daily offer, making a daily invite to your audience and in this market right now is going to help you crush. I guarantee you if you make daily offers by the end of the year, your business will be in a wildly different position.
Steph, what are some of the most effective places, ways to make office or where can they make offers? What's working?
So two things, like the easiest one, look, we're really big on email marketing. I don't know if you guys know, if you listen to our podcast, we're really, really big on your own list. We're really big on email marketing. And I'm actually going to change the word from email marketing. I think email marketing is shitty language. It's daily email communication. Like we have email communication and we don't just harass our list with offers and deals and buy my stuff. We always use it as a way to educate and inform and teach and tell stories about business and life. And they're usually very reflective and philosophical. And so if you want to join our email list, we'll put the link below and you can jump on our email list because, yes, of course, at the end of most emails, we'll make an invite if you want to take another action. But we hope that from our emails you learn something just like you do on this podcast, because they're very, very well thought out in terms of storytelling and they're really there to educate. And I think that a lot of people just aren't emailing their list. And I know that's point two, so I'm not going to get into it too much, but emails are definitely a really great place. The second place is on your social media stories. It is so easy. They're only up for 24 hours. It's a really easy way to make a daily offer. And you have so many offers. I hope that you have a lot of office in your business right now that you can make. I hope that you have at least one lead magnet. I hope you have at least one masterclass. I hope that you have at least a way for them to be able to book a call. I hope that you have a way for them to buy a program. It could be an invite to, you know, start a DM conversation with you. It could be so many things, things, an event that you're running. But if you speak about it on your stories every day without selling, just to talk about it, like literally, just go watch my stories. I talk about successful most days on our stories, just to even talk about it most days. And then every day just to make an invite. Like, if you need some help with this, send me a damn. If you, you know, want to brainstorm this, let's jump on a brainstorming call. Like, just make offers daily on your stories, in your emails, make an invite. They're the two easiest places for you. Whereabouts else am I missing?
Yeah, the only one place which is the most underrated, undervalued social media tool at the moment is your personal Facebook. And my clients in success school, their ears are probably burning right now with how often I say this, but I'd say off the top of my head, I probably know about 15 of them out of 250 that actually use their personal Facebook every single week. I have people DM me that want information about success school. All I'm sharing is basically what I'm up to in my life. And the results we're getting in success school, it is not hard or challenging to do. I don't even do the office thing. I don't even make invites. I just say, like, here, I'm doing this. If you're interested, obviously, reach out to me and I'll give you some more information about how I can help you. So, you know, if you're listening to this and you're not running personal Facebook, get on it. Honestly, it's the simplest strategy and process that you can implement because your friends and your family members know, like, and trust you. They fucking love you, so they just engage with you just out of respect for you, which is epic. It's not like Instagram, where it's just like, we actually have to produce substance to get likes. Facebook and Instagram, it's almost like a pity party as well. They just like it because your friends.
Yeah, Facebook is just. If you guys value interaction and you like people interacting with your stuff, and that makes you, you know, feel like you're actually contributing in a meaningful way to society. Facebook is so much better than Instagram. Like, and it's just. I don't know, you can write longer captions. Like, it's just really awesome. Come. If you haven't added me as a friend, come out myself as a friend. Come add Tim as a friend. Come see what we're doing over there. Yeah, it's not rocket science. It's really, really simple once you watch the process. And it has been just so awesome for building connections. Like, we've had so many people reach out also that are like, friends or people that we know that have been like, hey, I've seen big guys been doing this. I think I could help. I have some clients in the US that might be able to use your support. Connections, affiliates, partnerships. Like, all those things have just been coming so fluidly as a result of posting on personal Facebook. So it's phenomenal.
Serious business happens on Facebook.
Yeah, serious business happening on Facebook. So the first one on growing your business for the end of 2024 and, you know, really starting to get some momentum is to make daily offers, make daily invites, stories, emails, personal Facebook.
All right, I'll get into number two, guys. And Steph did allude to it before in the previous point. It is emails. And I'm going to go as far as to say daily emails. And if that scares the shit out of you, good. That's exciting. So we kind of do anywhere from three to six emails a week, depending on the week. This is something we've been implementing recently. So let's do some math here. I'm going to do the math. Steph's not going to do the math. Don't worry, I'm going to get this right. Just so you guys know. So let's say we have a thousand contacts on our email list. We have a 30% open rate. That means 300 people are going to read the email. Let's say we have a click through rate of 1%. That means 30 people are going to click through to the link. Now imagine if we send five emails a week and 300 people are reading them. That's 1500 reads per week. Which of these two strategies, sending one email or five is going to produce a better result for you? Obviously the five.
And I want to, I just want to jump in here because I, I think what we get confused guys is like two things I hear all the time. This happens with social media stories and also with emails. Like you should be on your social media stories every day. You should be posting on there every day. Is that you think it's the same 300, 500 people that are watching it all the time.
Yeah.
But it's not. And with email it's certainly not. If you think about the way that you use email, if I emailed you five times a week and they were all very high value emails that you enjoyed reading, even still you wouldn't open every single email because you're busy, because things are going on right now because the headline or the subject line didn't appeal to you for that day. I love receiving emails from some of my favorite email marketers. They're always really philosophical, they're always really interesting to read. And still most days I delete them because I don't have time to read it today or because I don't have an interest in the subject line or because I just want to get my inbox down to zero. And then there are other days where I actively open them because I have time and I'm really excited to read it. Or the subject line appeals to me. You have to constantly be emailing to give people that chance, that opportunity. But you're like saying 300 people are opening the email. It's not the same 300 people every day, guys. Everyone's worried about pissing, pissing them off. You're not going to piss them off because it's the different people every day.
Yeah, if your content sucks, you would definitely piss people off. And they'll just unsubscribe, which is epic.
If you, if you're sending just sales emails.
Yeah, if you're just sending sales emails. But the kind of emails we're talking about, we tell a story, usually it's philosophical, there is some value in it and then at the bottom, usually we'll do a super signature or we'll do some kind of cta. A super signature is like, here's three ways you can work with me. Or if you want more information, book in a free scale session for successful. That's the kind of CTA we're putting. And then we're just telling stories in it, making sure the subject line is great and it's clickable, but honestly constant daily, three times a week, five times a week, whatever you want. Emails are great. If you're not emailing your list at least once a week, you're probably doing it wrong. Once a week is the bare minimum. We need definitely volume for this. Yep, I'll go touch on number three. So we're going to do a low cost lead magnet. So I met a guy in Fiji, his name is Cody and he was an email marketer and he was telling me how good would it be if you could get $1 leads and you got a thousand a month? Would you ever have a Legion issue? And I said no. And he goes, why don't you do it? And I kind of looked at him and I was like, fuck, why don't I do it? It's so simple, like in the context of it. But actually getting that is tough. So after Fiji I went and created a lead magnet. I'm getting $3 leads, which is great, spend $3,000, which is a thousand people added to our email list. Do you think we're ever going to have a Legion issue ever again in successful? Obviously not. This is something I would suggest for you, so you're going to have to learn paid ads here. But you need to experiment to find a lead magnet that your audience wants and brings in the right type of clientele. You can have a lead magnet that people just download and you could throw something out there with AI and you might get 30 cent leads, but you need to know that they're actually good and qualified prospects for you. So our third point here is I want you to get a lead magnet and I want you to advertise on ads. The goal is as close to $1 leads as possible. That's just for name and email address. On the back of that we're going to send a three day email sequence to them to make them an offer to jump on a call and Then we can talk to them about our program, our service or whatever that is.
Quick question.
Yeah.
On low cost lead magnets, the first question, I can feel my, like I can feel the audience screaming at us already. You mentioned just before you spending about $3,000 to acquire these email addresses.
Yeah.
The first thing I hear people saying is like, I don't have 3,000. It's all well and good for you guys because you have money. Like, how do we get past that? Like, what does that look like?
I think if you're making 5k a month, you should be starting to invest in ads.
Not 3,000 doll.
$3,000 a month. You could spend 100amonth or 200amonth or 300amonth, whatever it is. But there needs to be a top up of leads coming in at a low cost.
Math it out for me. Because, you know, not my strongest. If you wanted 100 leads a month to add to your email list, let's say how much would you. At $3 leads, what is that? 3.
300 bucks.
300 bucks.
300 bucks a month for 100 leads. That's a good deal.
Yeah. The problem that most entrepreneurs have is that we talk about leads here. Okay. So we're talking about, we're getting the name and the email address. The number one issue that we see with entrepreneurs right now is that they're also hungry to make a sale, that they're not valuing any kind of lead. And so they're thinking to themselves, like, oh my God, I've got this lead now. How do I make money from them straight away? That's where you're going wrong. Because the value of a lead will actually increase over time on your list. Okay. Because they're going to get more bought in. And you can put a lot of cool stuff in place. You can put a lot of cool processes in place. I'm not saying that you can't turn that lead into a sale very quickly. You can, especially if you're sending them to a lot of long form content with you. But I think that so many people are playing the short game. We see so many entrepreneurs playing the short game right now. So many small business owners playing the short game. Like, I don't spend 300 bucks on leads because I can't get any sales back immediately from that. No, you won't. But if you add to your list, like our goal is to get 50,000 people on our list in the next 12 months, Tim is, Tim's is actually much higher than that, but mine is 50,000 in the next 12 months. Could you imagine if every single time we send an email how many opens we get, how many click throughs we get, how many calls we get booked? And it's a long game, it's going to take us some time, it may take us 12 months, it may take us longer to get there. But I know that once we hit that point where at that critical mass where it's just going to be like every time we send an email we're going to make money. And I think that too many people are playing a small game when it comes to things like email marketing and lead generation and lead nurture. They're thinking if I pay for the lead now, it needs to, you know, return an investment in a week for me. And it's just not reasonable to be honest. And it's very, very short sighted.
So once you get their name and email address, obviously you want to send them the freebie or whatever they have opted in for. You can do this paid as well as a low cost upsell, but freebie works easier and you can just test your stuff a little bit better and there's less tech involved anyway, you want to make them an offer three days in a row usually I said that 24 hours apart. So I'll give them information, I'll give them the information, the freebie and then I'll be like, cool. Do you want to book in a free scale session? Here's what we're going to run through. Here's the value get, here's the cta. Day two, I'll run through a case study of who we're going after. So this lead magnet was about coaches. So then here's some coaches we worked with. Here's the results I had booking a scale session if you want some more information about that. And then day three is just more testimonials and stuff as well. So it's pretty simple but essentially we're giving them value. They're like, cool, this download is good. They're going to click through to the link, they're going to check out your website, make sure your website's good before they do this and then you're making them offers that they can jump on scale sessions. We're also emailing people three times a week outside of this. So they're going onto our email list until they unsubscribe or take action with us. My record for this is I had someone on my list for 11 years before they contacted me. So Steph talks about playing the long game. We played the long game all the time and it pays off. We made, I think a $10,000 sale from that, so definitely worth it for me. Steph, do you want to give us a wrap up of the three things that they need to action?
Absolutely. Before we do, can I ask you one final question? What size of email list do you think starts actually producing an income? Because a lot of people, like start email marketing. It's not to say it won't work. It definitely can, guys, but like a lot of people, like, I've got 150 people on my list and like I'm just not making any money from it, like, which makes sense if, you know, open rates and click through rates and things like that. What size of email list should people be kind of aiming to get to, to start really getting really comfortable generating a return on investment for your email list?
Thousand. Yeah, thousands. Kind of where I'm at with that, I think it's very easy to get a thousand people. You just need to take people from your social media accounts, get them on your email list. That doesn't cost you anything. So just give them a reason to opt in and then they'll opt in and then you've got that. People think it's way harder than it actually is to grow an email list. And it's very simple.
You just one good lead magnet away.
One good lead magnet away. Like, yeah, give me your email address and I'll give you this thing. Really simple.
We have like 400 people sign up to our master classes. Like, that's 400 people. Like once you learn how to. Usually it's just good copy. Like once you write good copy for a good lead magnet, you have a good name of a good lead magnet. Honestly, even if you didn't run any ads to it and you just post it in Facebook groups and just put it on your social media. Like a lot. You would grow your email list every single week. Like for sure. Without doubt. So yeah, I think most people are not that far away. So in order to win the rest of 2024 in business, you have to make daily offers, aka daily invites in some way, shape or form. So stories, emails, Instagram, DMS, like wherever you want to, Facebook, personal Facebook, LinkedIn, anywhere, anywhere. Just make some invites, invite people into your world. Daily emails. So at least three times a week, probably at least, definitely once a week. The more the better though. As long as they're high quality. Not more sales emails, not more push, not more buy my shit, more storytelling, more insightful emails, more educational emails and do that more often. And then last but not least, create one good lead magnet. Aim to get your leads down to one between one and three dollars, and follow up with a nice email sequence to get them nurtured and booked in for a call.
Awesome. Thanks guys. Thanks for listening and thanks for sharing. We appreciate all the DMS guys. And don't forget, if you're new around here, hit that subscribe button on whatever platform you're at. And also we love the feedback, so thanks. Keep that coming guys.
Just lastly, before we wrap up, you know this will only work if you do the work. So these are cool. Awesome strategies, awesome hacks, awesome stuff for you to implement, only if you actually implement it. So get to work.
