CountDown Funnels: Coaching Corner #002

Brad and David walk through ClickFunnels countdown funnels for Black Friday urgency. Create separate timers for webinar start and offer close, embed timer snippets in emails to keep them synced, and attach events to funnel pages. Use only the calendar event contact registered trigger for workflows, redirect expired timers to a waitlist page, and test everything before launch.

Foreign. Hello, everybody, and welcome to coaching corner number two. We made it. We're at number two, guys. All right, let's go. Who's ready for Thanksgiving? Who out there is celebrating? Who's driving? Put in the chat. If you're driving long hours for Thanksgiving to visit family, I know a lot of you are. I know my brother's on the road right now. He's coming here. It's a four hour drive for him. So he's on the road. Who else is driving? Who's flying? Who loves to travel during Thanksgiving and just meet people in the airport, tell them about funnels. I wear this hat in the airport and people come up to me like, where'd you get that? Do you know about click funnels? I'm like, oh, yeah. And I can talk to them all day. I'll miss my flight. So what do we want to talk about today? What is one thing that goes with Thanksgiving other than turkey and football? And for the ones that aren't in the States, I apologize, but you might not know this, but what. What goes together with turkey, with Thanksgiving other than turkey and football? I want to know you. I want to know what you think in the chat. I'm going to let you, like, I'm going to take a minute and I want to know what you think in the chat. It's not turkey, it's not football. It's not the change of weather. It's not leaves. It's not any of that stuff. What do you think is one other. What other thing do people think about when they think about Thanksgiving time? You ready? Black Friday. How many Black Friday deals have you seen out there in the past two, three weeks to a month? There's like pre Black Friday deals. There's live Black Friday deals. Oh, yeah, Family, that's a good one. All right, fine. Family also. But Black Friday, it's everywhere. You can't miss it. Black Friday is all over the place. If you don't have a Black Friday offer, go create one right now, because it's like in two days. But Black Friday is everywhere. And what comes with Black Friday is just this urgency to get the best deal at the time that it's released. Like, this is the best time to go buy the thing. And it's all around this timeframe, this scarcity that it's. Now, get this insane deal right now or you're gonna miss out. And that's what we wanted to talk about today. We wanted to talk today about countdown funnels. We wanted to talk about creating this urgency of A time bound offer in your funnels. Cool. How's that sound? There's so much power to it. Think about like, I've been waiting to buy a new jacket, I need a new winter jacket. And I have been waiting for Black Friday specifically to get the deals that they're going to release now. Right. I didn't want to pay full price for a jacket. I'm going to wait till it's 50% off on black Friday and I know I have to buy it within three days or I'm gonna miss out on that deal and then I'll have to wait till, you know, either Christmas or New Year's or whatever. But I'm gonna try to jump on it right when it comes out. So I want you to take this training, think about the urgency that you feel right now in this time period, in, you know, in around Thanksgiving and when all these deals are coming out and how you can implement it into what you're offering. Whether it's, you know, your courses, your products, your coaching programs, whatever it is, there should be something that you're creating urgency around whether it's a time urgency, scarcity or urgency, whatever it is. Okay. And I'm going to bring David back. I'm going to bring David back and he's going to talk a little bit more about countdown funnels and how to implement them in clickfunnels and why they're so important. So everyone give a warm round of applause to David. Hey, what's up everyone? We didn't scare him off last week. He came back.
More importantly. I didn't scare you off last week?
Oh no, no, you were great. Yeah. So we're going to build on top of what we spoke about last week specifically with webinars. Right. So we kind of gave you some cool webinar strategies last week and this week we want to help with creating some urgency around opting into the webinar and making sure to come back for the webinar to, to help with opt ins conversions and just make more money.
Yes, yes. And I like how we got our, our dad apparel on. I got my dad shirt on. Brad, you got your dad hat on.
Yeah, that's right. Literally that was the title of this hat. It's, it's the dad hat. And I was like, you know what? This 100% makes me look like a dad now.
Amazing. Yeah. You're gonna show up to the soccer games with that?
Yes, sir. No hat really fits me. Like I have like, I don't know if it's like My forehead's too short or the hats are too big.
But anyways, fill the space and get a top hat. The tall ones.
I would. I wanna. Yeah, top hats would look nice. Get a little feather in it.
All right, guys, before we get into it, I want to show you something super cool. This is for my. My friends out there. My. My Trekkie friends. Check this out. Wanted to show you this.
Whoa.
Check this out. Anybody know where I am?
That's awesome.
This is Star Trek Voyager for my techie friends out there. Trekkies. All right, that's it. Enough of that. I had to. I'm sorry. I had to.
No, it's fine. You can leave that. That's a great background.
It's cool.
I know.
All right, guys. So, yes, countdown funnels are a big deal. Real urgency, real scarcity are a huge thing. It's very important to build your. Your actual trust in the marketplace. And Black Friday's around the corner. If you're an entrepreneur and you're not running a Black Friday sale, what are you doing? Get on it.
I wait, like every. I wait for this time of year, every year.
Yeah.
To buy whatever. I'll take, like, I'll keep a. Like a note on my computer of, like, the softwares I want to buy that I can wait for. Yeah, I know they're gonna have a Black Friday deal.
100.
And I just wait.
Yeah. One of the best things about being a business owner and entrepreneur is that you get to set the prices. Okay. You get to decide the scarcity, the prices, what you come out with, what you offer. And it's. It's really exciting, and it's the opportunity that we all have here before us. And clickfunnels makes it easier. So today we're going to be talking about, like, rough said, continuing off of last week, countdown funnels in the context of webinars. Okay, so let me go ahead and start sharing my screen and let me.
Help you with that.
I got it, I got it. I'm all over it.
All right.
Okay. There we go. Cool. So this is what we saw last week. Webinar funnels. How do they work? Where to do the webinar tips and tricks. And today we're going to be talking about best practices. And in those best practices, you guessed it, our countdown funnel timers. Boom. Just like that. Okay. All right, so let's dive in. All of the best practices come from common questions that I get as a funnel builder. I've built several successful funnels for clients, and lots of people come to me and ask different questions about how to do the webinars, where to do the webinars, when should I show the, the, the back end offer? And it's going to be our goal in this video to answer most of those common questions all in one video. Okay. That's where we got these best practices from. Okay. So let's dive in. First is to use a countdown funnel timer to sync the timers and the workflows. Okay. And you would only use contact event registration trigger for these workflows. So let's break this down. Countdown funnel timers, where are they and why are they? Awesome.
So the people where these are.
Yeah, the countdown funnels are over here in a whole section called countdown funnels. And if you don't see that, then you come over here to add apps. And it will be in there. It'll be a lit in a list of other apps. Just click add app. And to create an actual timer, you got to go to the countdown events. And this is like your webinar event. Okay. Now this is when the timer will actually expire. All right, so you would go to create countdown event. And we've got a couple here already created for you. And just go ahead and give it the name. Demo or test. Timer event, Webinar event. Okay. Now at first it's probably going to be a one time event. Okay. And then as you start to decide, hey, I'm going to do this every Thursday until we nail it, and then, you know, we can set it on autopilot at that point, you could set it to recurring. Okay. And that would be. Oh, sorry, hybrid. That would be day of the week and Thursday and then the time. Pick the time.
Okay, look, if I have a webinar that I'm, I'm, I plan on doing every week or every other week, this is what I would use.
Yes. Yep. Awesome. Now if you wanted to do a one off, this is the one to pick one time. And then you could actually like, you know, you could decide, all right, this was a hit, we're going to do it again. Or, you know, maybe two weeks later, maybe on a different day if it wasn't to hit, and maybe a different time. Okay, so you could do a one time and then you could pick a different start date the next time. All right. What if you got to do it?
I mean, you totally test. What's the best day for a webinar? What's the best time for a webinar? Right? Your, your audience, do they show up on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday morning? Lunch, afternoon, after work, after, like late night, when kids are sleeping. Test it. See where you get the most audience, where you get the most amount of people to show up.
Yes.
And this is a great way to do that.
Now this setting down here at the bottom allow re register after blank amount of days. If you don't set anything there, then they will be able to come back and re register for the, for the event again. Unless if you said like don't allow them to re register for it for another seven days or 14 days. Right. It just all depends upon your strategy and your plan. Okay. In the beginning it's probably just a good idea to go ahead and do the one time, the one time type here and get something going. Get something on the calendar. Don't worry about committing to one every week for now. Just get something going. All right. Once you create that, then it will show up in your list of countdown funnels. And we're going to go add that to the funnel here in just a minute. It's also good practice to have one countdown event timer for the webinar itself and another for the offer. Now we actually call this the offer close down. Okay. So have one for the account for the actual webinar and have another for the offer close down itself. Okay. The offer is, let's say you're doing a webinar. The webinar could be free or it could be paid. The offer is at the back end of the webinar. So once you get to the end of the webinar, you, you thank everybody for joining and then you say we got this awesome super special offer here for you. Go here to get it and then there's a timer on that one. Okay. On that page. So for this one, pretty much the same thing. Okay. Decide when you want your timer to end. And it could be a one time date. Usually it's probably good to have like, to have it like three, two or three days afterwards. And you could create as many of these as you want. You could have like a fast action bonus for, you know, within the next 24 hours. Then you could have another one that's, you know, two days later or later. Once you start doing recurring webinars, you could have it be every day of the week on a certain day and then just have the timers end on that same time. So like right now we've got this one here set for Sunday at midnight every week. Cool.
And this is all about creating urgency.
Yes.
Right. We want people to take action if they see a timer is ticking down, like, they're gonna have to act. And if they don't act, we don't want it to be an empty threat. Right. Like, we don't want it to be like, oh, the timer's gone, but the offer's still there. Fake out.
Yeah, yeah.
To lose that offer and then start losing their mind.
Yeah.
They're gonna think, how can I get this off? I really want it like, oh, man, I missed out on the 40%, but it's still 30%, so maybe I'll take that because it might go down to 20 after this.
Yeah. Which will actually cause more buying behavior in the future whenever you bring it back.
Absolutely.
And you. And you could bring it back the next week and just they don't know about that beforehand. You don't tell them, obviously. But you could bring it back the next week or a month later, or it could be an annual thing, you know, whatever you want to do. Right, Absolutely. The world is your oyster. So here's something super cool with the countdown funnels. Countdown timers. You can actually add real urgency and scarcity and timers in your emails themselves. How cool is that? Simply by copying this little snippet code here and pasting it in your email. This little code.
Just take the snippet. Yeah, take the snippet.
It is actually. So this code is tied to that specific event. Okay. So it updates whenever you update the timer here in this event. How cool is that? So that's another reason why we recommend using your countdown timers or, sorry, the countdown funnels, because it reduces the amount of time that you have to go and update the timers everywhere and everything stays consistent. Yes.
Right. You don't want to have one timer on your funnels and then another timer on your emails and then just have them be not synced with each other.
Yes.
Right. Because someone might go to their email and say, oh, I have five days here, but four days there. Like, how does that work? Yeah, like, is one in Australia? Why not?
Yeah, exactly. Yeah. So let me show you some of the best practices with the countdown funnel timers on the opt in page. First, we're going to attach the event to the page itself. So we click on the three dots and we click Manage calendar events. Okay. And go and find your events. It'll have all the information there. And then I recommend for this one, register after form submission. Okay. The timer will be counting down even though. Even before they register, even before they enter the information. Okay. And then we go into the funnel itself.
So that's important. You need to connect your event in the funnel workflow builder.
Yes.
Okay. Just I want to make that note. Connect your event before you're starting to build out your funnel. Your funnel has to know what event is available inside before you come in.
Yeah. Now once we're inside, we're going to click the timer and select calendar event. This is what tells it to attach this timer to that calendar event. And so it will actually be updating. Okay. It'll update and change if you make any changes to that event. Cool. Other options, Countdown and Evergreen. Those are used at different times. We'll actually do the countdown. We'll show you more of that later. Okay. So next, let's show you the next page. Right. The waiting room page is where you attach your offer close down timer. Now this one, you want them to register on page view. So the behavior is once they opt in on the page above, they're going to land here. It's going to trigger the page view and register them for the offer close down. So now we have two timers. They're. They're registered for two different timers at the same time, basically. Cool. The only caveat here is it's going to give you this little. It looks like a warning, but it's saying, hey, you've got an event attached to this page, but the timer is not set to it. Okay. And there's a reason for that. So the timer on this one needs to be manual because otherwise it'll update to the the offer close down and not to the start of the webinar itself. So this one is where you actually use countdown and select your date and your start time. Okay, got it.
Following, let's do that one more time. I think that was, that was like expert level strategy.
Yeah.
Who missed that? I mean, thankfully there's replays of this and you can slow it down, but let's do that one more time for people.
So, okay, so just make sure that the timer here on the waiting room is set to the countdown, not the calendar event. This one needs to be manual because otherwise it would sync up with the offer close down whenever. This page is all about the start of the webinar.
So on the page is the close down timer or the webinar start timer.
On the opt in page, it's for the calendar event.
Got it.
Which is the start timer of the webinar. Cool.
Okay. Super clear. Thank you for going through that.
Yes.
And again, this is, this is replayed. So if you have any questions, one, you can just talk to us. Outreach. Clickfunnels.com we'll happily reply and share how to put this strategy in place. Or watch this again and just slow it down and run it back.
All right? Yes, sir. Okay. Next countdown workflow. Okay. All right, so countdown workflow points to the waiting room. Everybody is going to be held here at this waiting room until the webinar starts. Here is the countdown workflow. It's attached to the first page. Now, there is a very important note whenever it comes to webinars and countdown event timers and the trigger of whenever a contact registers for an event and how they are used in workflows. Okay, so let me, let me back this all the way up from the, from the beginning. So whenever you're attaching a workflow for and you have an event, the countdown event on the page. Okay, we're going to do new workflow the time. The only event type that works for this is calendar event contact registered. And we'll show you why. Do not add any other triggers. This is important workflow.
Go ahead. I'm sorry. Hey, hey, hey. This is important. This is what David's about to say.
Yeah. All right, so we're here in the workflow, we see that the only trigger is for calendar event contact registered. Now why is that? If you have any other trigger in there, it's going to fly through what we have here. These delay until calendar event delay steps. It's because that is tied to the event itself. And if the contact is not entered the workflow by the event registration, then it's not going to register that delay with the contact. And so then it will basically treat them as if they're not there, the delay. So then it would just fly them through all the way through all of the emails all at once. And it's great. They get like 10 emails at the same time. It's wonderful. I've been there and I just, I.
Just want to point out. Well, there's two things I want to point out. One, you can look at the, the steps that are in the workflow. Right. It says wait till three days before calendar. And like David said, if there's no calendar event attached to the contact that has come through to this workflow, then these mean nothing, right? To the automation. Like what event? There's nothing attached to them.
Yeah.
So it's super important to have that trigger as the one that leads people through this automation. And how do we know this? Because this has happened to us.
Trial and error. Right.
We have gone through this and it took us a couple days to figure out what happened. So this is how we build things at Clickfunnels. We try to do things. It's trial and error. And we teach the things. We teach things not to do.
Yeah.
Because we have gone through them.
Yeah. And I only, I only knew about that. I kind of noticed that, you know, the, the trigger issue, because that had happened to a client before and we figured it out. So, yeah, very important. So don't, don't add any other trigger like opt in or, or purchased or page view, none of that. Only the event registration. Now, once you do once, that is the trigger for the workflow. This action will populate Calendar event delay, that's the one that you want. So wait until so many hours, minutes, days before the calendar event, or you can say after, or it'll be exactly at the start of it.
Does everyone see why this is important? Sorry, just to pause for a second. Does everyone see why this is super valuable? Like why you should add calendar event delay steps and reminders. Like when I, when I have a doctor's appointment two months in the future, you think I'm thinking about that all the time and I remember that I have that appointment. I mean, some people do, but I mean, we're busy here at ClickFunnels, so I sometimes forget it. But if I had an automation that sent out, hey, like don't forget about your doctor's appointment next week. Hey, it's three days until your appointment. Your appointments tomorrow. Are you ready? Do you have your documents? You have your insurance, you have everything ready? Like, this is super important. I have spoken to people who not only don't have replays to the webinar, but aren't nurturing the people that have opted into the webinar that have signed up for the webinar to bring them in. Also, you can start giving them like, hints of the education that you'll be delivering on the webinar.
Yes.
Right. Give them a little bit of a taste of what you're going to be teaching. So they'll want to come to the full webinar.
Right.
Right. Think about that. Because everyone sees why this is valuable, right?
Yes.
Everyone. Okay, good. David, you got it? Yeah.
All right, more on best practices here with how this workflow is set up. I'd recommend sending out one email immediately. Give them a tag, maybe even notify yourself with notifying. Okay. But definitely at least one email immediately. Okay. If you're using zoom to do your broadcast, then you can integrate that here with third party integration. If you are doing the actually zoom or Any other main webinar platform, it'll be there. Okay. Otherwise, if you're broadcasting into the ClickFunnels broadcast page, then you don't have to do that. Right. Next, very important, there are, there will be several of these delays before the webinar starts. So like three days before, I'd recommend that you set those to skip these. Let's say that somebody opts in two days before the webinar. You don't want them to get, you know, all the steps above it, all the email steps, all at the same time, because it's going to fly through them and it's going to catch them up to wherever they opted in. Let's say they opted in within five hours of the event starting. You don't want them to get a bunch of emails all at the same time instantly right before it starts. Okay. So that means the only one I'd recommend that you leave not checked is the we're live. So all of these have skipping and then the wait one minute before this is the only one that's not checked because you definitely want them to get this email that says we're live. Okay. Now all of these emails in here, all of the links in there points to the waiting room. Okay? And this again, best practices to reduce your amount, your workload because you're going to want to set a timer on the waiting room that redirects to the next page or actually the webinar link, wherever that is. Okay. That way all your emails, if you ever changed your, your, your link, your broadcast link, wherever it is, you don't have to change it on every email. It's just change it on that timer on the waiting room. Okay, good stuff. How many here is getting value already? Like this has answered so many common questions already.
So many people just don't know what to. Also that it's a great point. Send them to your waiting room because people don't know where to send people.
Yeah. Oh, so let me show you that real quick. And we're getting close on time, so I'm going to try and fly through the rest of it while he's loading.
You know what you can do on your waiting room? Sell VIP tickets.
Yes. Another, another great best practice here. Let me get to that in a second. So this timer, make sure that whenever it expires, redirect to URL and enter your webinar link there. It could be the next page in the funnel or it could be, you know, webinar link, your zoom link. All right, now again, hey, while they're waiting here. Get them ready for your webinar. How many of you have heard Russell talk about, or anybody talk about the linchpin? Okay, so this is the place to sell the linchpin while you're. Thank you. Thank you for registering for our webinar. While you're waiting, go ahead and grab a free trial of our products. Okay. Two weeks. Three, you know, three. Three weeks, whatever. Grab a free trial down here. That's getting people into your continuity. Yeah. Building that monthly compounding income.
And maybe that's your, that maybe that's your VIP ticket into the after show. Right. You do the webinar and then if you want one on one Q&A or close knit Q and A, sign up for whatever it is you're selling. And then that's their entry into the VIP webinar series.
You could totally have an opt and a one time offer right there before they get to the. Oh shoot. Not there. But before they get to the, the waiting room. Oto if you want. Okay, next best practice is to have a add to calendar event button on the waiting room page. That way it actually adds to their calendar and they're notified that way as well too. So here is what that looks like we would recommend using. There's all sorts of tools, but one that's simple is addevent.com. okay. They have a great free plan to get you started. Cool. Addevent.com. all right, next, the offer close down workflow points to the back end order page and the offer. Let's talk about the offer close down workflow.
All right, David, you think you can do this in three minutes?
I think so. So the alpha count network flow here and it's using the same trigger that we talked about before, only use the events registered trigger. And this one is going to be. You're gonna, you're gonna walk back from when you want your offer to close down. So let's say that you're doing your webinar on Thursday, you want your offer to close out on Sunday. And so you're going to walk back starting with like, you know, one hour before the calendar event ends. And this is your, your offer closes. Okay, so how many reminders do you want them to get until your offer closes? You will start to count your way back from there. Okay. And just add emails in between there. All of those. Now all of those emails points to the back end order page. Okay. The back end order page. Now when do you reveal your back end order page? The backend order page is let's say you did your web class, your webinar, and then at the end of it it's, you know, thanks for joining. Here's where you can go and take the next step with us. That is where you'll actually give them the link on screen or a button to go to your back and order page. Okay. And here we have a broadcast page, a couple of broadcast pages, and the back and order page is here in clickfunnels. They have no other way to get here unless they join the webinar or get one of your emails. And that's the offer. Close down emails. Okay. Now I'd recommend that you schedule your webinar stream ahead of time so you can grab the broadcast link and put that on the broadcast page and reveal you back into the page link at the end of the webinar.
I mean, we did that and that's insane what we just did in 30 minutes.
Yes. Oh, last thing. Go ahead, last thing. So real urgency and scarcity. Put that the offer close down timer on the back end order page and on after it's over, have a redirect that goes to a like an oh no, you missed it page and this page.
Oh, I love that. Yeah. Yes. Awesome. Oh no.
You sign up for our waitlist below to get notified of when this offer is up again. And here's where they can enter their email and you can give them a tag of wait list and then you can come back a week later or however long and say, hey, the offer is up again. Go, go, go.
How good is that? Oh man. That alone, like, don't let them slip through any of the cracks in your funnel. Give them the urgency, make sure it's real. And then at the end be like, hey, you missed it, but we'll let you know when it's there again. And then you just have your leads for the next time. Like, that's awesome. Oh man, David, this was so good. I want to do something special and we're going to see if we can do this after. But anybody who is on the live right now, send us an email. Outreachlickfunnels.com let's share this with the people.
Yeah. And if you run into anybody that has any questions about best practices for webinar funnels, refer send them this link to this video.
Absolutely. We could have ran this for another hour. There's so much we could do here, so many strategies, so much to implement. This was so good. If you're not doing this for your webinars, watch again and do it implement.
All these tips will really help you to reduce the amount of workload on yourself whenever you do webinars. Okay, one last little detail. This is the backend order page. Just make sure that the timer is set to the calendar event. That way it's tied to the events the offer close down event on that page. Okay, cool. That's it.
All right everyone. If anything was confusing, watch the replay. That's what it's here for. David, thank you. That was excellent. I'm sure people will start having more opt in rates, more sales, all because of this. And it's all done in clickfunnels. It's all done there. All right, everybody, I appreciate you. Thank you for showing up. Thank you for watching the replay. Enjoy your Thanksgiving if you celebrate. If not, take advantage of a Black Friday offer. Right? Take advantage of something. All right everybody, appreciate you.
Okay, bye guys. Thanks for joining. Have a good day.
