He Made $25K in 9 Days by Changing His Facebook Profile

Blake Noubar made $25,000 in nine days using a "profile hacking" technique that turns a Facebook profile into a landing page. He quit his supplement company job after his first $797 sale, then helped a client hit $1 million in 43 days. He now teaches the method as a course and built Rocketeer, an AI platform that creates and optimizes Facebook ads in minutes.

Last 9 products I purchased online and never even opened. When you're motivated for a moment, right? And motivation comes in all sorts of form. I just got in an argument with my dad and now I'm angry and like I see an ad online, like start a business or grow your business. I'm motivated. I'm ready to run through a wall because I'm like, something's fueling me. And then what happens is when that motivation fades, you just stop working, you stop doing it, and then you start making excuses. Tooth Fairy didn't give you the money under the pillow today or whatever it is. It's more of an intangible third mistake is You get excited and then you just—
Hey everybody, welcome back to ClickFunnels Radio. I'm Chris Cameron. So if you've been following along in the past couple episodes with Mark Harbert and Angelica Govert, you know we had some incredible affiliates fly in to sit down with Dante. This last one I missed, but I'll be back with Dante next episode, which I'm super excited about. But Dante today is talking to Blake Newbar. He's a multiple 2 Comma Club winner, 2 Comma Club X, and one of the most loved people in our community. Blake is literally one of my favorite people. So I was bummed that I missed this one. But Blake went from a desk job to watching one Russell Brunson presentation at 1:00 AM, building his first funnel, getting that first sale for $797 to quitting his job and 43 days later doing $1 million with his very first client. He's the guy who figured out how to turn Facebook profile into a landing page, made $25 grand in 9 days from it, and he breaks down the biggest mistakes he sees entrepreneurs making, plus his new software Rocketeer that's making paid ads stupid simple. This one's packed, let's get into it.
All right gang, welcome back to the podcast and strap in for this one. With us today, we have a multiple Two Comma Club Award winner, a Two Comma Club X Award winner, and just one of the most loved people in the ClickFunnels community. Please help me welcome Mr. Blake Noubar.
Thanks for having me, I appreciate you, I appreciate being here.
Man, what a pleasure it is to get to talk to you today. I'm excited, we have so much to talk about. So I wanna get right into it. Just in case anybody doesn't know you, how'd you get into this world? How'd you find ClickFunnels or Russell maybe?
Yeah, sure, so well Russell being the man when it comes to marketing, I've learned the origin story from him. I was actually working a, a like a desk job. I was working for a supplement company, a fitness education supplement company, and I was tasked with creating a certified personal training program. So we basically, if you want to become a trainer for any gym, they typically have to have you become certified. So we were making this new program and we built this thing like we were— it had to be like 9 months of building this entire thing, right? Like blood, sweat and tears into it. And then we go and hand it over to the marketing department because at that time I'm not marketing. I don't know anything about funnels or ads or any of that stuff. Like I It was just like operations type stuff, like running some different components, right? And we handed over to them and we're like, hey, like it's ready. Like we put a lot of effort into this, go sell it. And like they couldn't sell it. Like they just didn't know what to do. Like no one knew of this new revolutionary stuff with funnels. Like threw it on a website and started running some ads to it and just nothing happened. And like imagine where I'm at 9 months into this thing, right? And we spent so much time onto this and now it's not selling. You just feel like a complete failure. So I go home one night and out of pure frustration, I remember just staring at the ceiling fan and it's just like, it's like an old school movie where it's just almost like my room's like 95 degrees and I'm like sweating, just staring at this thing. And it's like 1:00 AM, right? And I'm like, I grab my computer and I just start scrolling on Facebook and I see this ad come up on my feed from this guy named Russell Brunson. Had no idea who he was, but something about this ad caught my attention and I'll never forget it. It says weird marketing experiments to increase traffic conversions and sales online. And I was like, well, we need that right now. It's like the universe was like, yes, here you go on a silver platter. And I'm like, let me check this out, right? 90-minute presentation explaining the concept of a sales funnel and how to sell online. And I was addicted. I was so addicted to it. I watched it again. Now let me remind you, it's like 1 a.m. So yeah, like it's like 4 a.m. now or whatever. I just go straight into the office and we had like a whiteboard. I go to this whiteboard, I just start like writing stuff on this board. And the team comes in, the marketing department comes in like, what are you doing? I'm like, I think I know how to sell this. And I'm like stepping on their toes a little bit and they're like, okay, like we'll leave it to you. I'm like, yeah, let me just try something. So we create this webinar funnel, which is my— I still have this funnel in my ClickFunnels account to this day, my very first ever webinar funnel. And we were working with a celebrity trainer at the time and we had him create the webinar. We create the funnel, we put this thing together, we go live, we send some traffic to it. People opt in, people show up for the webinar. And when we made the offer, No one bought. And I remember I left. I went outside the office that day and I remember just sitting on the steps with like my hands like on my face and I'm like just cursing at myself because I'm just so frustrated. I'm like, and then that failed, right? And it's like this failed and then this doesn't work. And then I try and it doesn't work. It's like, what? Something's got to give here. So I kind of did the most lackluster pedestrian move ever. And I walked back in the office and I click refresh on the, on the computer just to see. And we made our first sale for $797. I'll never forget the person's name ever. And I remember I walked in the next day and I quit and I was like, I got to go figure out— I was addicted to sales funnels and the science of conversions and persuasive copy and all this stuff. I basically just learned in like a 90-minute presentation, just was like the catalyst and the springboard I needed to actually go and figure this stuff out on my own. So I left, I went to Upwork, I started getting some gigs, and the rest is history. I've been a funnel hacker ever since.
Wow.
Yeah.
So that's the inception. How many years ago was that?
That was 2000— wait, 2016. 2016.
It's like the same time I saw a webinar as well and kind of got hooked on it.
Yeah.
So what has that morphed into for you?
Like, so that story continued. I started working with a guy named Brian Page, dear friend of mine. Um, and what was happening on Upwork was there was so much competition, right? Like, and I know so many people feel this where it's like, I'm doing something, but so many other people are doing the exact same thing as me. It's like, how do I stick out? And I remember this celebrity trainer we worked with, and I call him up and I go, I remember a story he told me, and I go, dude, like, I'm on Upwork, I'm getting some gigs and stuff, making some money, but like, I'm already broke. I basically did the dumbest thing ever, but I walked out on a job paying me money to, but I could take risk. I was a little younger, right? I could try it. And I call him up and I go, dude, listen, man, like, I was like, hey, it's Blake. I don't know if you remember me. He's like, Blake, I remember you. Like, what's up? I was like, okay, cool. Just want to get that out of the way. I'm, I'm like trying to like get going with sales funnels and marketing online. And I remember you telling me your story where you basically packed up everything from like the East Coast and you moved to the West Coast with no clients and you're basically like the, the who's who of Hollywood now training the coolest actors and celebrities ever. I was like, how did you do it? He's like, dude, here's like the secret to everything. All you have to do is get results for other people and push your stuff to the side. And I was like, okay, well, wait a minute. You had like a good website, right? Like you got— he's like, no, I had no website. I was like, well, you had some connections, right? Like no one can just do that. He's like, dude, I had my life in like my car and I drove over there and had no one to talk to. And he said all he focused on when he got his first ever gig, give him the biggest result you could possibly imagine and the rest will, will come, come into fruition. And I was like, fine. I'm going to take what he did in the fitness space and bring it over to the marketing space and just focus on what we call go for wins. Like, I didn't care how much money I made. I didn't care about anything. I was like, I'm going to make that person so successful that in return I can have some success. It's like a quote by Zig Ziglar, right?
Yeah.
And I remember I get— I basically got rid of everyone I was working with, which was like 3 people. And I was like, hey guys, like, I'm going to go a different direction. And I meet this guy, Brian Page, And I'm like, this is— he's like, I have a course I just finished. I don't have a funnel. I don't have a copy. I don't have a webinar. I don't have any of this stuff ready. Like, you want to team up on it? I'm like, I'm in. Let's go for it. And like, I didn't care about anything else other than like, how can I help this guy make as much money as humanly possible? And we launched this thing and 43 days later we made $1 million.
Wow.
Yeah. My entire life completely changed. And like, that was the springboard to basically, and my phone was ringing off the hook in terms of people wanting to work with me. I was turning down crazy offers that in a million years I never would've expected. Why? Because all I did was focus on his results and everything else fell into place.
So you're at a company not as a marketer.
Yep.
You watch a video.
Yep.
Learn how to become a marketer in 90 minutes, we'll call it 180 'cause you watched it twice.
Yep, fair enough.
You do the thing, you get one sale.
Yep.
Quit the job and then go do this.
Yeah.
So this is incredible. What are some of the things things that you did for that first client? Like, is there some big takeaways? Like, I did this and this and this that people can do?
Yeah, so Brian's already a super intelligent guy. Like, I just— I was just lucky to be like involved in some of the success with it. But I built the funnel for him because I was a webinar funnel expert builder now at this point, right? I had my one funnel under my belt. Um, but basically what I had is I would work on like the left side of my laptop, and on the right side it would just be Russell Brunson's content left and right, like all everything I could absorb printed out. You should see my floor had 200 pieces of paper lined up of notes from every— the DotCom Secrets book was out at the time. I basically rewrote Russell's book in my notes. That's how much I took on it and all of his videos. And I'm learning as I'm doing at the same time. I'm like, okay, I can apply that to this. And I go and I build his funnel and I help with the automations and the email sequences and we're brainstorming ideas back and forth. And basically we got traffic in place. We had an amazing JV manager who helped out with traffic and we just brought these pieces together. And again, I was fortunate enough to have my sliver of success to help him, which was my biggest goal. And when you bring all these things together in like a really cool cohesive way, you're able to do like crazy numbers like that. And I remember we had days that were doing like $155K in sales, like 7 Ms, I think the first year, just wild success I've never seen in my life. Like if I would've made a few hundred bucks, I'd have been like, dude, that's a win for me. But like when you see that, you're like, The possibility of where you can take stuff like this when you truly acquire this skill set and take a little bit of time to learn it, it's— you are equipped with like the world's greatest weapon to use online, so to speak, that can provide for you. The fruits of your labor will provide for you again and again.
Absolutely. Couldn't agree more.
Yeah.
Wow. That's amazing.
That was cool.
That really is cool. That really is. And what have— what has that grown into for you? Yeah.
So since then, you know, we've been fortunate to, you know, we've worked with ClickFunnels in some awesome capacities. We've been an awesome affiliate for ClickFunnels, which has an amazing product. We still use it to this day. We've created our own offers. We help business owners generate more leads and sales. Again, we've been fortunate enough to hit the 1, the 2 Comma Club, the 8 Figure Award, and the, the CC Award, I think it is. Yeah, yeah. And it's all a result of basically acquiring those skill sets. So we took all that stuff, rolled it into a bunch of ways to help business owners, and then now we even, we like to, my business partner and I, we like to we always like to challenge ourselves and jump from— we don't like to stay on the same lily pad for too long, and we always like to level up and think bigger and think differently. And we're now on a new lily pad that we think is going to be a bigger opportunity by working on a software that's going to help business owners launch ads in a very simplistic way, unlike anything seen before. And every single working second is on that software. Well, that's where we're currently at. But, but the trajectory is the same. It's the— we want to help business owners make more and making more can be whatever you want, more time with your family, more money, more vacation, whatever that is. And we want to play just an integral part, just a piece of what they're already doing. We want to help them achieve that. So we focused on the hardest thing that there is, which we believe is traffic, getting people to buy your stuff. So that's what we're on right now.
Wow. And I know a little bit about what you're on right now. Russell knows what you're on right now, so much so that he's bringing you in to some really cool projects. I can't wait for everybody to see that because it is just amazing.
Oh man, humbling experience and so much appreciation.
So cool. So cool, man. I'd love to talk. I'd love to talk beginners really quick.
Okay.
You have an amazing training, teaching. You've talked about this for so long about Facebook profiles and how to just, leverage the things you already have access to today and make success out of it. Can we talk about this?
Absolutely. Another great story to this. And it's like, oh, I would have never imagined this in a million years. I'm out to dinner with my wife at the time, my fiancée, I think, or girlfriend. I can't remember. It was like one of the three. And we're eating dinner and I like, I'm addicted to my phone. So I'm like pulling out my phone. She's like, oh, you have to be on your phone right now? I'm like, no, but I'm on my phone and this post caught my attention on Facebook. Like, I'm just scrolling on Facebook being nosy, like just doing what we all do. What are you up to? I don't like that. That's cool. Bye. And this one caught my attention. So I clicked to the person's profile and I'm on his profile and I'm reading everything about— he didn't really have much. I had to search to find out what he did, but the post was enough for me to be like, I'm going to click to him. And that was when the moment, like the light bulb moment went off. Like, I do this all the time. I'm on Facebook, I see a post, and then I click to their profile to check out more information about them. So I started wondering how many people do that to me? Like, am I the only creep slash nosy person that does this, or do other people legitimately do the same thing? So I ran an experiment and I took my personal Facebook profile and I transformed it in a way that was like nonexistent in the marketing community. I changed the COVID photo. I changed— at the time it was a featured photo. Now it's a highlight section profile picture, added links, added buttons, added like these fake buttons. But because of the Facebook UI, when you click the button, a different modal would pop up, right? So it all kind of worked. Cohesively. And by the time I was done creating this thing, it didn't look like a profile anymore. It looked almost like a landing page. And we put up tracking on it. And 9 days later, I made $25,000 in sales just from changing my profile. Like, and I realized there is this massive hidden traffic source on Facebook right now to this day that no one knows exists. And like, with each passing second of this, like, people are missing out on massive opportunities to capitalize. And the way I also learned this is I'm over here like, maybe that was just my luck, you know? And I'm giving speeches on this exact thing across the country and to marketers, and every time I'm about to give this presentation, I'm always like slightly nervous that they're gonna be like, you're an idiot, dude, like we know this. And every single presentation I gave, just blown away that they didn't know to do this, right? So, you know, if you're listening right now or whatever, and it's like, go check your profile. There's a good chance you have a picture of like a cat or a sunset on your background and nothing's in your featured section, you have no pinned post, there's no links for people to learn more about you. And with our, like, my brain's completely dead at this point almost with all the different social media. And it's like, if I don't know what you do in like 2 seconds, I'm already off now. Like, I need to know right away. So we found a really unique way to transfer a profile for the second someone looks on it, which that traffic's happening right now. They can learn more about you, get into inside your ecosystem. You can indoctrinate them in whatever way you want to provide value to them. And eventually you're going to sell your products and service to them. In exchange, they get a result. And that led me on that journey of like figuring out this like profile hacking concept and then teaching other business owners how to do it as well. Because the thing is, everyone needs to have this done. I don't care if you're brand new or a seasoned vet, it would be insane not to transform your Facebook profile because the majority of the market is on Facebook. I mean, Mark's got like 1 out of, what, 7 people now in the world on it. It's like you might as well have it so that even if you're not that active on Facebook, people are going to land on your page. Like, why not have it optimized versus not optimized? And we thought about that and we started teaching business owners to do this all across the country and the world. Yeah.
So, and it works.
It works. It's yeah, like we've— so when we were done with the speeches again, we're very pessimistic. I'm very like pessimistic with like what we create. Like, I don't want to create something and be like, it works for us. So it's going to work for you. It's not how it works. Like sometimes we do build stuff that only works for us and it just doesn't translate well to the marketing community or like the audience we're going after. That's the, that's the reality of a lot of things, right? So we had a Facebook group at the time. We were launching a Facebook group and we're like, let's take what we learned and combine it into a course, just a simple course. It's like no fluff, no BS. I'm just like, hey, this is how we set this up. It was like 90 minutes and we gave it to everyone for a single dollar and we sold out. I think I did like 1,000 copies. We sold out in like 30 minutes. I only had 2,000 people in the group and a dollar, big deal, right?
Whatever.
I just want to see if you were willing to give a dollar, right? And like, days go by and nothing happens. I'm like, and it's a bust. Just worked for us. And then like day 6, we got a post from someone being like, working on my profile funnel. I'm already getting people to opt into my stuff before I even finished it. And we had post after post after post. We had hundreds of people posting. The group was like, I think at the time after it was like maybe 2,200 now after a few days. And we had like 70 posts a day in that group of people having success with it. And it was like, this works now. So we launched ads to it and cold traffic, complete strangers were buying it and getting results as well. And I was like, we got something here. This can help people on a level we've never experienced.
Wow.
Yeah.
And then of course, since then, everybody's taken it, made their own trainings on it.
Of course.
But it works.
I love it. I hope people take it and train. I mean, the world needs to know about it more. And it's just such this hidden gem because you either view it as like, ah, it's not a big deal, but it's like, it is a big deal. Like, it's, it, it, I still don't find a reason why you wouldn't do it. I don't either. It doesn't make any sense.
100%. And, and, and I followed your thing back in the day and I did it.
Yeah.
And I learned the reciprocity is so real.
100%.
So I, I, I beefed up my profile and then I just went to the places and spaces that my customer was gathering and I would just provide high value answers.
That's it.
That was it. They come back to your profile, come back to me and say, how can I give you money to do more?
Yes.
It was incredible.
It's the best thing. It's amazing. It's like, it's part of me is like, like, how is this not figured out yet? You know? And this, and this is years later, right? It's like, it's still, there's so many people and there's so many businesses that like, you know, Ron's Coffee Shop gets a Facebook page. He's going to have, it's going to be horribly put together. I can already tell.
Right.
It's like, and it's not their fault. They just don't know. They're good at brewing coffee. But like when it comes to the social media stuff, they just don't know this stuff. Even if marketers don't know this, do I think that local business owner is going to know it? So it's like these 500 new businesses are created every single month in like the United States alone. And one of the first things they do is get on Facebook and get a page. Like it's an evergreen market of people that don't have this stuff done. It's like the opportunity is wild to teach these people how to do this. 100%.
Wow.
Yeah. Okay.
So I want to figure out now, you've been amazing at affiliate marketing. Over, over your time. Is there a way— can we take that same profile concept and can we apply it to affiliate offers instead of just our own offers?
Absolutely. We, we would apply a lot of the call to actions in it to affiliate offers specifically. I love promoting ClickFunnels, but whatever offer someone wants to promote, it's the best thing ever. You generate organic traffic on social media when you engage or post in groups or help people. One of the biggest strategies I had on traffic, I was just helping people. That's it. Nothing. Like, I didn't care. It's like, hey, does anyone know the link to Russell's old training on this? I'm like, yeah, I mean, go find it for you. Here it is. Didn't expect anything in return. Yeah, right. Knowing that they're going to come back to my profile and then on the profile when they start clicking around, I would have like it would say like, for example, and I would do seasonal, right? So if it's like a holiday, I would change out the banner to match like different holidays. Cyber Monday, Black Friday, Christmas, Easter, you name it. Like just you stay with the trends of like what the holidays are, you would flip out the profile like you would an ad. And I would offer like I would personally promote ClickFunnels products. So depending on what I was promoting, like at the time I think it was One Funnel Away. Yeah, because it wasn't Your First Funnel, it was One Funnel Away. I think was the challenge.
Yeah.
And then I would put my profile billboard, which was the COVID photo, which was the biggest part. Was like, hey, look into the number one way to like earn online or the number one way to get started with an online business. Let's say in this case, hypothetical, I'm just making something up, is your One Funnel Away Challenge. And they would click it because I would have a button designed in the image and then I would have another call to action on because on your photo, when you click it on Facebook, the COVID photo opens up the pop-up and on the pop-up you can have a description of the photo. And I would say like, get started today, click the link below, and they'd click that link and go. I would either have a bridge page where I'd have my page to capture traffic, but half the time I would just send to Russell's pages because I'm like, I don't even care. Like, just go sign up. And they would start signing up. We got— I don't want to attribute the majority of our success to getting the dream car from this strategy, but a lot of people were signing up for ClickFunnels because of this specific strategy alone.
It's amazing.
Yeah, it's wild.
And everybody can do these things today.
It's honestly the easiest thing you can do. I don't know anything. 'Cause look, you know, digital marketing, you're going to have some things that are easy and a lot of things are going to be challenging, right? Like it's just the reality of it. This, this is truly one of the easiest things you can do.
Yeah. And it's not like a lot of times in marketing it's iterative processes. I find.
Yeah.
And it's like we start here and it's okay, it's a good start, but we need to build upon this to get to the thing that like, oh, I'm so known for this years later. It's, that's not the game with this. So simple.
No. And there's this like fringe benefit of it that builds your personal brand as well.
Yeah.
It's really cool because like you're, you're marketing, but like when someone lands on your page and it's, it's professionally looking, you look like a formidable competitor on any level. You look like, wow, this guy or girl knows what they're doing, even if you don't. For example, I'm not saying fake it till you make it, but like in that moment when people land, they're like, whoa, who is this person? Because you have your stuff put together. So you get this fringe benefit of a person building your personal brand unbeknownst to anyone. You're not even thinking about it at the time, but you're building your personal brand because it's basically your media kit online as well, on top of generating affiliate sales. and it all happens simply because of this hidden traffic source. And plus Facebook wants to keep you on Facebook. So when people are landing back on your page, they really appreciate that.
Mm, powerful.
Yeah, I know. It's like all the stars aligned for it. It just makes perfect sense.
Literally.
Yeah.
Wow.
Yeah. A little bit of luck, a little bit of skill all tied together creates this.
Well, you know what it is? It's a little bit of luck. It's a little bit of skill. It's a lot of action.
Yeah.
It's a lot of doing.
You got to execute, you know? And, and, and that's another benefit and beautiful thing about this concept is that like the execution part isn't this crazy ask of anyone. Like, when I first got started online, I was ambitious. But I know a lot of people, it's like, it's a scary thought to get going online. You've never done it before. Yeah, I was just so frustrated and angry that like, that fueled my motivation to a level unlike anything I've experienced. But like, if I wasn't like that, who knows? Maybe if someone introduced me to like, go through this course, I'd be like, I don't know, maybe like, you know, that's a long course, or I don't know how to do email marketing, like, and all this stuff. It's just like, ah, forget it. I don't want to do it anymore. Like, forget it. But this is literally like, in 90 minutes you could have set up. It's like, can you like make this photo? I can show you how to do it. And with AI right now, it's like it probably could be done in like 10 minutes.
Oh, oh yeah.
You don't have to do what we had to do back in the day, which is like go and design in Photoshop and create. It's like, I just go to AI and go make me a cover photo, put this on it. Yeah. And just upload it.
Yep. Yeah. Like back in the day was go to Photoshop, go to Canva. Maybe, maybe if you're terrible at it, it takes you a little time.
Yes.
5 minutes now. Like, yeah, yesterday it was 10 minutes, but new updates today, it only takes 5.
Exactly. Yeah. Like eventually it's going to be like one line in there and it's going to give me the perfect photo better than something we would design in Photoshop.
Literally.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's, it's like there's no excuse anymore. It's the easiest thing to execute. It has the most bang for your buck. Very minimal time investment, potentially massive upside.
100%. Like bootstrap. You could literally bootstrap your entire business from photos on Facebook profiles.
It's a number. It's the best way to start in my opinion. It's how I got started essentially, aside from quitting and doing Upwork and stuff and getting my gig with Brian. Like, When I went out on my own, that was like the first thing I did. I was like, let me do this.
So what's the second thing you did?
The second thing we did is we found a way to wrap up that entire idea into an opportunity where someone can take my exact business and run it as their own. So we found a way to niche it down. So I was going after digital marketers, right? And I was teaching digital marketers how to do this, how to basically transform their Facebook profiles. And we started realizing we were running ads at the time. which I was, I was just mentioning. And, um, what we started noticing is we started seeing a lot of different people buy. Like, there was doctors and dentists and landscapers, and all these different people were buying it. We even had a guy, uh, selling his Christian rock music, and he wanted to transform his profile to sell more Christian rock music on CDs. And we started looking at the numbers, we go, dude, there's a lot of different niches buying. And it's like, that's when the big idea went off. It's like, what if we just gave everyone the same thing that's already working, tried and true tested? Like, we tried it, we gave it to our community, they tried it, we ran We ran Facebook ads to cold audience. They try and had success, but because there's all the different, all these different niches, we can't do all these different niches. We're like geared at digital marketers, but the marketing in our ads was like anyone can do it. But we know the power when you're speaking specifically is going to be a lot better. So we packaged everything up and we realized there was like this, like, kind of like a franchise model, but you could buy your own opportunity into this where I could teach you how to set this entire thing that we still run to this day. This is our— we still run this business to this day and you can set this up and I teach you how to go after a specific niche for it. And we found a way to blow that up into a really massive opportunity to go after people that have never started online before. It's a great way to learn digital marketing is to jump into this because you learn affiliate marketing, you learn how to run your own business, you learn payment processing, emails. I mean, it's basically a crash course in marketing and the end result is you get a business set up.
Wow.
Yeah.
And it still lives to this day and we still do it.
Yeah. We're not like that, like build it, sell it, don't do it. We've been doing this to this day. You can still go online right now and buy my stuff right now. Exact same thing. Teaching you how to hack your Facebook profile.
Wow.
It's live right now. Probably making sales.
Probably making sales. And then so as somebody buys that new opportunity, did you have a way— did you weave ClickFunnels in as an affiliate offer there?
Yeah. So, well, when you're building out this funnel, right, or you're building out this business, teaching people how to do it, part of— if it's not when you— like, if I'm transferring— hacking my Facebook, we call it profile hacking. When I'm hacking my Facebook profile, I need to— I have a link in there to go learn more about me. Well, that link is going to go to a funnel. And what better software to use than ClickFunnels?
Right.
So we put us— when we were doing our presentation, getting people involved to do the same opportunity, we were selling ClickFunnels as the funnel building platform to use, which is, in my opinion, still the obvious choice. I love ClickFunnels and it still works extremely well. And what was cool is not only were we getting affiliates to sign up, because they want to do this, but I would teach them how to use ClickFunnels as well because they can put their ClickFunnels affiliate link in their product and get people to sign up under them. So it was like we would get people and I would tell them, I'm like, I'm not even going to take your— it's not my affiliate link when you buy from us. You're going to use your affiliate link and you're going to get the sales. I want to see you guys get the dream car, you know, the same way that we did. You know, we at one point we had 757 affiliates signed up under our link with a one slide presentation, one slide in our presentation saying, go get ClickFunnels. It was like a 170 slide presentation. One slide said, go get ClickFunnels. We had 757 people at one point.
Wow.
Yeah.
Wow.
Yeah. To this day, that post is still in the ClickFunnels group of a screenshot of all those people.
Really? That is amazing.
Yeah.
Just, just working the simple thing.
That's it.
Do you find people like to complicate things?
Of course. That's where humans— I'm great at that too. You know, naturally as humans, because we have something simple and because we get obsessed with some idea, we start adding things to it. And next thing you know, you create Frankenstein. It's the nastiest— it's like, what? What? It was just a— it was a frog and it turned into Frankenstein somehow, right? And it's like, that's what we do. And then you create an idea, you overcomplicate it because you want to add so much stuff to it, or you're doubting yourself, you have imposter syndrome. So you add, you take away, you add. By the time you're done, it's unrecognizable. And then what do you do? You strip it all down because it's not working. And you're back to where you started from and then you just sell that thing and it works. So we spend all this time overcomplicating when you just take the thing from the get-go and just start selling that. And that a lot of entrepreneurs, they do overcomplicate. We— I still overcomplicate on every new idea we do. I find ways to still overcomplicate it and then I have to slap myself and go, dude, stop. It's— you might, you might want more of it right now, but just introduce that like real artisanship. Yeah. A quote by Pablo Picasso. Steve Jobs takes it like we spend so much time tinkering to avoid criticism or we're scared. I always tell people, I go, launch imperfectly because a perfect launch means you waited way too long. If you are happy with what you're bringing to the market, you waited way too long. I am always petrified when we launch something because I'm like, it sucks and it's not what we want to be. And that's how I know we're always going to have a bag, a thing of money at the end of the rainbow, so to speak, because we didn't like tinker around with it and get comfortable with it. We just launched this thing imperfectly and then you you can work on it.
Yes.
You know, and instead of like trying to make it perfect and then telling the world about it, make it simple, tell the world about it, and then they will guide you on what they want and you just listen to them. They're your customer. All the things I like, half the times the customers don't even want them. And I'm like, well, I'm going to shelf my stuff and listen to them because I didn't make this product for us. I made it for them. And how insane would it be to ignore what customers want because of my ego on something? No, it's like, whatever you guys want, let us know, we'll build it.
100%.
It's like, ain't no time for dignity and pride in this game. Like, put the ego aside, listen to your audience, and they will tell you what to build. The greatest companies on earth build what their audience wants them. And yes, we might be a catalyst for ideas like, hey guys, would you like this? We might actually, you know, throw ideas to them that we want them to like build upon. But sometimes they'll even reject those. We're like, okay, forget that. What do you want? And then build upon it based on that.
Yes.
Yeah.
Well, and it's just marketing.
That's all it is.
It's just business. It's the same things we've been doing forever. You're just great at doing the little things.
Yeah, that's it. I love that.
So, um, do you have— man, you've been able to work with so many different businesses. Do you have like a top 3 things that you see people doing wrong?
Um, yeah, uh, let's see here. Um, so one of the biggest things I see people doing wrong is they they start with the funnel and it's what I did first, actually, and it's wrong. You have to kind of like— the funnel is almost the last part in the game. It's them. It's really important, right? And when I say funnel, I'm not meaning like the actual physical, like the digital good of a funnel, like page 1, page 2, page 3. A funnel is everything. It's your email follow-up sequences. It's your ascension model. It's all this stuff. I see a lot of people, they, they start with the funnel funnel. And it's— you don't need to start with that. You need to start with an idea and you need to test the idea. And then problem number 2 comes in on that. So problem number 1, they start building a funnel, they start throwing some copy on it. Usually now it's— I see AI slop just being slammed on it. Yeah. You know, you're— and your audience sees that too, right? They know that when they're like, oh yeah, that's probably AI. And now, barring a lot of people have no idea what AI looks like in text, but if you're going after the marketing community, they know what it looks like. So that's the first issue is that they're not like really crafting a product and a message. They're like trying to build a funnel and then like retrofit a product into it. Yes. Number 2 is based on the ideas. When they do try and build a product, they go and build the whole product and then they go and sell it and no one wants it. You have to sell the idea first, get buy-in from your audience, and then go build the thing. Yes. So what we would do a lot of the times with ideas is we would actually just throw up a landing page. We had no fulfillment on it. We'd run ads to it and we'd see if people opt in for it. That's it. We'd even see if people buy sometimes and just refund their money because you want to prove the concept right there. It's the fastest proof of concept you could ever do is Literally put a landing page up with an idea you have. Um, a new ebook teaches anyone how to launch ads in 5 minutes. You don't even have the ebook. Okay, run ads to it right now. Spend $10 a day for a week. Run some ads. Do people— all you have to check is do people click to your page, which means showing that they're interested, they're raising their hand saying I'm interested in this, and are they opting in? If you get enough feedback on that, go build the product and do that first instead of trying to trying to build the whole thing in your vision when, let's be honest, humans are terrible at estimating and guesstimating and all this stuff, predicting the future. We usually build things originally like they aren't that great. You need guidance from your audience. So go and test an idea, see if it needs to be refined at all, and then go build it and then go market it. That's the next big mistake I see a lot of people doing is building before testing an idea. And then the third thing I see in this space it's— I wouldn't call it a mistake. I would say a lot of people are motivated in the short-term run, and then they just, they stop. They just don't execute on anything. And I went through that myself. I still go through— I still buy— the last 9 products I purchased online, I never even opened. I'm literally— I do the same thing. And the problem is, is like when you're motivated for a moment, right? And motivation comes in all sorts of form. I just got in an argument with my, my dad, right? And now I'm angry. And like, I see an ad online, like start a business or grow your business. I'm motivated. I'm ready to run run through a wall because I'm like, I'm— something's fueling me. And then what happens is when that motivation fades, right, you just stop working, you stop doing it, and you go— you slither back into your current way of life, right? And then you start making excuses and blah blah blah. And you know, the Tooth Fairy didn't give you the money under the pillow today, or whatever it is you make. It's something. And that's— I would say is the— it's more of an intangible third mistake, is you get excited and then you just— everything dies and you kill And you got to learn that motivation's intrinsic. It's, it's that, that self-policing, self-motivating factor comes from within. There's no external thing that's going to provide it. So if you catch yourself in a situation where you're on a training or you're learning something new and then you stop, it's because that thing got you excited and you're missing the inside part of it to keep going after it. And once you build that up, you are— that's the scariest person I want to deal with in business. I'm not— I'm in business my business partner, I talk about all the time. We're not afraid of people that necessarily, like, build something. We're not afraid of people that are more intelligent than us. I'm afraid of people that are ambitious, because if you're ambitious and you continue through, you are a threat to what we're doing or anyone else is doing. And those are the biggest competitors. It's, it's not a— it's not intelligence. It's not you're smarter than me genetically. Most of us are probably on the pretty same wavelength. Okay? It's that you're more ambitious and that is how you win.
Hmm. Have you, have you come up with any like concepts or maybe do you have an example of how you were able to grow ambition inside of yourself?
How was—
or were you born with it?
I don't know. You know, it's a good question. I think a lot of it actually does stem from— it's like that nature-nurture debate, right?
Yes.
And a lot of it could be nurture. You know, I hear a lot of entrepreneurs got started— some of the most successful people I know, like they were bullied when they were in high school or they got in a fight with their— their parents never thought anything of them and they just want to prove them wrong. And a lot of that will be all you need to keep going because that motivation is this extrinsic motivation is almost a monkey on your back every single day because it's not going away. And sometimes that's enough to push people to a level where they'll make massive changes in the world because of that. Right. And then some people, I feel like you do— there is a point of it where it's like something about it, you just, you love so much. And again, maybe that does come. I've never fully even thought of it. So great question. Maybe that does come from some experience I had when I was a little kid. You know, I was selling baseball cards in fourth grade at recess to people like that. That just lived in me. But who knows, maybe in third grade I got picked on. I don't even remember. And I was just like, I'll show you, I'm going to make money, right? So it's a good thought. I mean, maybe it's a mix of both. You know, it's one of those debates, but it's one of those things where it's like once you do find that in you and, and again, back to a quote by Steve Jobs, it's like when you find something that you really love, you don't have to be pushed towards it. The vision will pull you. And that's also true if you I always say, like, um, don't follow your path. Like, you know, you got to be passionate about something. It's like, no, no, I mean, half the— I love what I'm working on right now, but half the times I'm not passionate about it. I'm just like, I hate this right now, I don't want to do it, right? But you have to know that, like, if you come become obsessed with solving a problem, that is when you're going to be pulled in another direction. I know that we want to help people launch ads. I think that anyone anywhere in the world can launch an ad and have success with it, and we want to prove that. I want to solve We want to solve that problem. So if we solve that problem, we become obsessed with that problem. We are sucked into that vision, right? And that idea plagues your brain. I don't— they say you don't have ideas, ideas have you. And that idea just pulls us, right? And it's when you find— when you become obsessed with solving a problem, that's enough where you're going to keep going at it until you figure it out. And it's not the money. The money is just a scorecard of how you're doing. It's literally you wake up every day and you enjoy the stuff. And yes, There are days I do not want to do it at all. But then at the end of the day, I remember like why we're doing this. And that's what keeps pulling you every single day. Yes.
And why are you doing this new project?
Yeah, this new project is based, built on an experience we had when it came to paid advertising. We would build the products, we would prove them, and we could just never get ads to work on a level we wanted to. And we started thinking, there's more people like this. We even asked our audience, like, I hate ads, they don't work. I gave up on it. And we started wondering like, Why is it that ads are only for the elite marketers? Why is it that they can only figure them out? But all of us other guys cannot figure this stuff out. Okay. And I know I'm speaking for so many people right now where it's like, I just, I hate ads. I can't get them to work. I'm never doing ads, right? That was us. And that anger and frustration is why we push this software to another level, because we want others to experience what we now experience with ads, not knowing anything about ads. And now you can level the playing field. So the barrier to entry is next to nothing and everyone can have success with paid ads. We do it every day because I want Rocketeer on everyone's desk every single day all across the world. And you can now confidently say, I'm making money with ads.
Yes. And I think you are hitting the biggest problem that I've seen hold people back from scale, but also from starting. Yeah, like that is the boogeyman.
Yes.
Paid ads are so difficult.
Yeah.
I'm not going to be able to make this thing work. Facebook targeting is broken. It is not going to make me. And then they don't even start their business and they don't even make their cover photos. They don't even take those first steps.
No, I can't. You can't. How do you know if your stuff's really good or not if you can't get people to look at it? Yeah, we have an argument to be made. You know, there's an argument to be made that your offer sucks or your landing page is bad, your funnel is no good, your copy is no good. Sure, those are valid arguments. Our argument's also like, how do you know that until someone lands on it or a group of people land on it and they actually tell you by not taking action? Let's start with that. Let's fix that problem too and get— let's, let's prove once and for all that it is your is your marketing copy. It is your email follow-up. Let's find that out. But there's an argument to be made that like you need customers to check something out and let you know before anything. So traffic is one of those big things.
100%. If I'm supposed to be making data-driven decisions and I can't get any data to make any decisions on, I'm just pulling from the ether. And that's not business or marketing or anything.
Nothing. It's just guessing. And you give up, you quit, you quit. I can't— I got everything, I got to the finish line, I can't get traffic, I'm done. And you quit and you do something else and you go into this vicious cycle again and again. Next thing you know, 30 years passed you by.
Yeah.
And you're bitter and you have resentment and it's like, no, like, we can fix that. I know we can fix that.
I know you can fix it too. And I'm very, very excited for it. I really, truly am.
All right.
So Rocketeer is the new software that's going to help people do the thing. Facebook ads. Tell me more about it.
Yeah. So when it comes to launching ads online, it's a really confusing process, even with AI, right? Yeah, AI does help significantly. But when you're launching an ad, one of the biggest things that you run into is, first off, everyone's petrified of wasting money. It's a scary thought. It's like to tell someone to spend money into something, A, they don't understand, right? And B, if you do understand it, you're still scared you're going to waste money, right? It's a hard thing. It's why it's always kind of like a stiff arm by a lot of entrepreneurs. Like, they're like, I tried, I failed. That story propagates in their mind. And anytime you introduce someone to ads again with the same methods, which rightfully so, they're going to be like, nah, I don't need ads. I got this. It's like, okay, right? And I get why you think that way. So So with Rocketeer, running an ad for anyone, myself, any type of entrepreneur, the first thing is like, I don't know what to create an ad on. I don't know what to write about. I don't know what my headline should be. More importantly, I have no idea if it should be a video, if it should be an image. If it is an image, what kind of image? If I figure out the kind of image, do I put text on the image? Do I not? If it's a video, what type of video do I do? How long's a video? What script do I use? So many questions happening and that's just launching the ad. That's not even how your ad's doing. So we want to create a system where it's a two-pronged approach and we let the user pick. But essentially our biggest thing we just launched is our AI ad creator. And one of the things about AI, I hated AI copy. I thought it was just a bunch of slop. I was like, I would try AI ad stuff. I'm like, this is, this is garbage. Like, what is this? I hope no one's using this. So we want to train our model like on really good copy. Hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of ads and headlines and copy and practices and tactics by some of the greatest marketers alive. And you go into Rocketeer, you literally tell us the URL you want to send traffic to, and you tell us what you want— leads or sales— and that's it. We create your entire ad campaign, all your ads, all your copy, all your images, everything start to finish. Within like 3 minutes, you're launching a campaign, and they're good. Like, I wouldn't sign off on it if they weren't— if it wasn't good copy and good images. And this is just the start. This is like the worst it's ever gonna be, and I'm like, this is really good. And we're just evolving it. So all you do is give us that URL, tell us your goal, and Rocketeer does the rest. And I always tell people, think of it kind of like Tesla's self-driving. You're no longer like, I have a normal gas-powered car and like, if I turn off the road for a second, am I hitting someone? So it's like, it's like Rocketeer is your Tesla self-driving car. You're going to be in the passenger, but instead of you focusing and driving, it's going to auto— it's going to self-drive for you. It's going to turn the wheel. It's going to get you to your destination. It's going to put on your turn signals when it's time. Okay, all you're doing is facilitating. So you get to sit back and relax and let the software do the role. And you just tell us if you want to change something and you have full carte blanche to change anything you want. And in a few clicks of a button, we'll tell you the budget to do, we'll tell you everything. And in a few clicks of a button, you're launching a campaign. And that was half of it. And then the other half, we're like, you know what else sucks is that when I launch an ad on Facebook, I'm looking at this crazy spreadsheet that tells me nothing. Oh, I'm like, what? What does click-through rate mean? What is What does cost per million mean? What do all these percentages mean? And even if I do figure out what they mean, I'm like, how do they work together to tell me if my ad's doing well or not? I have no idea. Is that good or bad? Well, it's based on your benchmarks. I don't even know those. I don't know anything. Is this good or bad? 'Cause this is what I'm seeing. Money's leaving my bank account and nothing's really coming in, or a little bit's coming in. Where's it coming in from? And which ad is doing well? And we're like, that is the worst experience in the world. No wonder entrepreneurs can't launch ads. You're basically trying to swim with your legs and your hands tied behind your back. You just can't do it. So we wanted to find a way where we took this ugly Excel spreadsheet and we visualized the entire process. So on our analytics screen, not only do you get the actual ad in the native state you'd see it on Facebook, all the data's on there. So if you wanna geek out on the data, have fun. You can have all the data you want. But what's more importantly is that not only does Rocketeer tell you which ad is doing the best, we'll have like a crown for your best one, we'll have top performers, we'll have has potential ads, low performers, and they're constantly changing letting the user know. But Rocketeer always also gives you notification on what to do based on how the ad's performing. So you don't even have to— not only do we tell you the ad's doing well or it's doing bad, we tell you what to do based on the state of the ad at the exact moment you need to make that— take an action. And that process continues again and again and again. So eventually you're just going to have the most gangster ads ever. Yeah. So to run to your offer and it's like you need both components. You need— what AI does now is it levels the playing field where people are having an easier time to launch their ads. They might not know what to say, they might not know what good copy— you go to ChatGPT, write me an ad for my dentist shop, right? It's going to be slop coming out. But again, you can still do it, you know, easier than writing from scratch. Um, so it does make that part easier. But the most important, you have to have that amazing front-end experience of creating an ad, and then also what do I do with the ad when I'm supposed to do something with it. And that right there, I think, is one of the most important parts. And I would say more entrepreneurs— I'd say more entrepreneurs could probably get an ad off the ground, but it comes to what do I do with the ad where we're all just getting our face kicked in. 100%.
Yeah, 100%. That actually got me fired up because in speaking to so many people, that's the last part, that data-driven decision, right? Is the ad good or not? And then you can give me those recommendations on what to do exactly next. Yeah, spin up more. Yeah, spin up less.
Yeah, change your creative. Yeah, change. Yeah, based on your historical last 50 ads, we noticed that these headlines headlines weren't working the best, but we did find 3 of those last 50 ads. We orchestrated them into one like perfect headline. Let's try that next and let's do it with a before and after because we realized that that image had the most traction. Let's try this version of an ad. Boom, spits it right up for you.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. This, this image is working really well. Here's 5 different creatives to spin around and then we can launch those.
Exactly right. Yeah.
So excited for this. I'm going to go sign up right now. Yeah, I am. I am. I'm Man, it was really great to speak to you today.
Pleasure. Pleasure.
Literally, as I wanted to ask you another question, I just got pinged from Russell.
Okay.
He needs you for a presentation on Rocketeer for one of his programs.
I'm excited.
Blake, you're the man.
I appreciate the time. It was amazing, dude. It was an honor to be here.
Pleasure is all ours.
Thank you.
