How To Set Up Payments In ClickFunnels | Training Tuesdays #001

This is a ClickFunnels ‘Training Tuesdays’ video (hosts Aaron and Jesse) that explains what payment processors are and demonstrates how to set up Payments AI and other gateways within ClickFunnels. The hosts define a payment processor (authorization, routing, settlement), introduce Payments AI as both a gateway and an orchestration layer that can manage multiple processors (Stripe, PayPal, Coinbase, Klarna, NMI) for redundancy and routing/optimization, and walk through the UI steps: Apps → add Payments AI, register/login, configure gateways (upload EIN and business docs), then select the processor in Workspace settings or override per Store. The session emphasizes redundancy (switching between processors) and cost/optimization benefits.

All right, looks like we're live. Welcome back. Welcome back, everybody. I'm not sure if we have anyone here or not yet, but we do. Awesome. All right, well, let's jump into it. This is another training Tuesday. So this is the second training Tuesday we're doing. So if you're with us on the first one, we thank you. And if you weren't welcome, we are. Basically, the idea here is that we're going to be doing a training session every Tuesday to really just lay the groundwork of basic clickfunnels information. So we're going to pick one topic that maybe you're interested in, and if you want to chime in on the chat and let us know what topics you'd like to hear in the future, we'd love to hear feedback on that. But again, the idea here is to take one topic, go through that topic, so you can fully understand how to accomplish it in clickfunnels. And today our topic is payment processors. So we're going to be talking about everything related to payment processors. We what they are how to get one set up in clickfunnels so you can start accepting payments and be confident about collecting customers. So first and foremost, what is a payment processor? I mean, I think it's pretty straightforward. It's a way to collect money, it's a way to collect income. But a pure definition of it is it's a service that handles authorization, routing, and the settlement of customer payments from your checkout to your bank account.
So really, Aaron, that's a lot of technobabble. Can you say it in plain English?
Absolutely. What I was going to say in plain English here is it's really just ensuring that a customer's payment method is valid. It's checking for fraud to make sure there's nothing happening on the back end. And it's going to reroute that money straight to your bank, and it'll ultimately confirm or deny the payment. So a payment processor example is stripe. Stripe is a very popular payment processor. A lot of people understand that one. PayPal is another one that's very popular that a lot of people know. So a really good analogy that I like of payment processors is a gateway is kind of like a toll booth. You know, it's there between your checkout and your bank, and it comes through, and that toll booth is just verifying that the money is authentic, and then it's sending it along through you. Now, Stripe or PayPal, that's just one gateway or processor, right? There's a lot of other ones out there. But what happens if you want some redundancy? Right. Like what happens if there's an issue with Stripe and you can no longer collect payments? That's where something like Payments AI is worth setting up now on its own. Payments AI is its own gateway. This is really taking it one step further. Let's take a step back and look at it from a bigger picture though. Payments AI is also an orchestration platform. So what I mean by that is we can have a layer on top of gateways and I can manage payments across multiple processors, all within Payments AI. So in short, and again in layman's terms here, instead of Stripe or nothing, Payments AI allows you to have multiple gateways connected to just ensure you're always going to have an option that customers can pay you with.
Got it. So to recap what you just said, you're saying Payments AI, which is our in house click Funnels payment processing system. Payments AI is a platform that can handle all the transactions and process the payments not only through QLIK or through Payments AI, but through other means as well.
That's correct.
It could be some through payments AI, some through Stripe, some through PayPal, but it's all housed, all the data is together In1 Payments AI account.
Correct. And you can manage everything there. So you ensure that you're never going to lose any sight of customers payments at the end of the day.
Awesome.
Awesome. All right, so let's jump into the actual portion where you can set up Payments AI. So how do we do that? I'm going to go ahead and share my screen here. Here we go. And I am in a fresh ClickFunnels workspace and the first thing I want to do is actually I'm already at it, but let's head over to the app section. So here I have my left hand navigation bar. I'm going to tap on the Add Apps section and it's going to redirect me to the apps. So here we are in the apps and I can see right at the top we have sales and Commerce, but I have Stripe, which is coming soon. It's not rolled out to every single customer, but you will be able to eventually connect Stripe directly to your account. You may also have that option already available and we also have Payments AI right beside that. So if I click on Payments AI, it's going to say add App. So I'll do that. And when I do that, it's going to redirect me over to to the login screen here. Now if you have a login, go ahead and do that. If not, you can register. So let me go ahead and slide over to skip all the personal data information. But this is pretty straightforward. Go ahead and fill out your data, your information and then create an account. And once you do that and you're in Payments AI for the first time, it's going to drop you here on the dashboard. Now a few different things to look at here. Of course, when you generate income and sales, you're going to see metrics start to populate here on the screen. But more importantly, I want to talk about the gateways there on the right hand side. So you have payments AI, you have Stripe, PayPal and so on and so forth. I want to connect one though. So let's tap on gateways. You can see here there are several options that we can connect. So as I just mentioned, Stripe and PayPal, but there's also other options. So you have Coinbase, you have Klarna and you have nmi. And then you can see Payments AI all the way on the left hand side there. And as a game or as a gateway or payment processor itself. So I'll go ahead and hit connect here. And this is really where you want to be prepared. You want to make sure that you have all the right documentation. To set this up, you're going to need a few things. You're going to need an EIN number, I believe you're also going to just need basic business data and information documentation. So let me forward this on here. This screen is basically telling us all the documentation that we need. And so I went through this process on the back end. I'm going to fast forward it and this is what it's going to look like when you upload all that documentation and you sign off on everything. Now once it's set up and it's completed, I'm going to head back into Payments AI. And now I can see there on the left hand side that it is ready to go. So I am set up, I'm ready to start collecting payments. But how can I see that on my end when it comes to the click funnel side? So let me go ahead and head back here. There we go. And I'm back here in the ClickFunnels workspace. And now that Payments AI is set up, how do I actually see that in clickfunnels? If I go to my workspace settings there on the bottom left, I'll tap on that. And right here in the general settings, just on the second section here we have our payment settings. I can select a payment processor. Now you can see Payments AI is showing up here. So that means I've successfully set that up. So it's ready to go. Now as I was talking about, Stripe is an option. Eventually you will be able to set Stripe up and it's relatively that same process. So you're going to go through into Stripe, you're either going to create an account or log in with existing account. And then once you get through all of the data collection and you sign up with all the forms and submit all of that, it's the same way you're going to have Stripe set up within ClickFunnels and you'll be able to select it here from the dropdown. So I have Jesse's login here. We have a Stripe and Payments AI ready to go to be collected. So I can switch between the two. So if I have Stripe and I want that to be my primary, I can set that up. And then again, let's say something happens. There's an issue with Stripe. I can't collect payments with it. It's as simple as just switching it back over to Payments AI to have that redundancy to always ensure that I'm able to collect. Now, one other way I want to show or one more thing I want to show here, if I go back to my main workspace, what if I want to collect, let's say in my store, payments AI, but everything else I want Stripe. Well, we can do that by heading to our store again on the left hand navigation bar. And when I'm in my store, I can tap on the store settings in the top right here and I'll scroll down and you can see payment processor again here. And it's basically saying if, if you just want the default. So whatever I had set the workspace settings to was pai, but maybe I want to override that. Maybe I want to set just my store up with just Stripe. I can do that as well. And of course I would make sure to update if I made any changes there. So in a nutshell, that's essentially how you set up payment processors. What payment processors are within clickfunnels and the lot and so on and so forth. So to recap, why is it important? It's going to add redundancy if you add pai. So if Stripe fails or has downtimes, some of those transactions will reroute through another gateway and then optimization and cost control so you can route transactions through lower fees gateways or just possible use rules when. When it applies.
Awesome. And I just wanted to be super Clear for those of you watching. So whether you decide to natively integrate Stripe or payments AI, they are technically separate. And if you are just using payments AI that has the option to add stripe within it along with things like PayPal and NMI and other gateways like payments AI. So you could have them all together as that bundle. So if one fails you just move on to the next. Or they Stripe can also be pulled apart separately. But I just wanted to make sure that was super clear that the payments AI is really cool in that everything is routed through the same system. But technically we do have Stripe separate as well. Just depends on your personal preference and your business, right?
Absolutely. I've been thinking of so many different analogies of how I can compare this and I've thought of rideshare apps, I've thought of planes versus airports, but essentially, yeah, set up payments AI to have that redundancy, to have everything all in one spot and you can always go back to that same spot to manage autom, all of the platforms. So anything else to share, Jesse?
Not on payments, but hey, if you're watching, we would love to have your input on what you think our next show should be about. We are doing training Tuesdays every Tuesday at 2:30pm Eastern. And while we can certainly talk about click funnels all day every day, we want to make sure these shows are what you want to see. Right. So if you have any ideas, talk, toss them in the chat so we can work them into our schedule. Otherwise you'll just have whatever we decide to come up with and you'll just show up for a surprise every Tuesday.
Yeah, I like that. I believe next week. Are we set in stone?
Why not?
I think we're set in stone. We're going to be talking about products, what everything has to do with products, how you can set them up, how you can add them, how you can define them, the whole nine yards on it. So be sure to come back next Tuesday if you want to learn more about products in detail.
Yeah, super excited. There's a lot of cool things products can do in clickfunnels for sure. Thank you all for joining us. Even if you see this later as a replay and you have ideas for future shows, toss them in the chat. We'll be sure to compile them and add them to the list.
Absolutely. Thanks to everyone for spending the time with us and and have a great rest of your day.
Thanks. Bye.
