How to Use Universal Blocks in ClickFunnels | Training Tuesdays #009

Dante and Aaron show how to use Universal Blocks in ClickFunnels to update headers, footers, and banners across your entire funnel at once. Create a universal section from templates, edit it in one place, and use mobile-only and desktop-only visibility settings to control what appears on each device.

All right.
Bingo. There we are. I don't think the intro loop hit, but that's a. Okay, we're rocking and rolling. Good to see you, funnel hackers and rock stars. Here we go. Everybody's rolling in. Great to see our funnel hackers with us today for a super exciting training Tuesday. Still getting the name of these new sessions down. Training Tuesday happening today. And I'm super excited for this one. While you're all getting in here, make sure to check in. Let us know where are you watching from in the world today? We'd love to know where you're at because in today's training Tuesday, we're going to talk universal sections, something every business should be using on their funnels, whether an expert or in E commerce. Here's the deal, gang, why universal sections are important. So back in the day when I was running my E commerce businesses, this time of year, if you don't know, Q4 is the. I'm going to use e common as an example here too, but Q4 is the best time of year for business sales and higher conversions. Ad cost is a little bit higher, but our customers have their credit card in hand every single day, looking to spend money, looking to buy gifts. Q4 is when so many sales are happening. So back in the day when I was running my E Com business, I would have new banners seeming every single day. And I would have new banners that were saying would arrive by Christmas, you know, and I'd say two days to spare. So every day I'm running new banners from November to December, every single day. And it sounds really awesome and it helps conversions. But that means for every single funnel that I'm running, I have to go into the funnel, I have to then update and change the banner. So it took me like two hours every single day at the beginning of each day through the months of November to December. And then it got so taxing that to be honest, gang, later on, in later years, I stopped doing it like that. I just updated one banner a week and that wasn't good for my business. My sales did go lower. I wasn't running my business the right way and it wasn't. It didn't even align with, like, how I wanted to run my business and who I wanted to be. So anyway, it was just a terribly cumbersome experience and I'm sure a lot of you guys might be experiencing that right now. So today solves it. Universal sections now across all of my E Com funnels, every single funnel that I want that I choose to use, I can update one section and it updates across every single funnel. Universal sections having something that our community has asked for forever. I'm talking years and years, six, seven years. And it solves such a massive time drain that we all have on either our businesses or our teams. Maybe you're not a solopreneur, right? Maybe you have a business or an existing team or agency that you plug into. Well, now you're freeing up your team's time as well because they don't have to spend hours every single day just updating banners. They can be looking at stats, increasing or improving offers, getting you more conversions and more sales. Universal sections, while they might be small and they might be quick and painless and effortless, they're unbelievably important. With me, as always, to get into universal sections and their power, we have our great friend, Aaron. Aaron, how are you today, my friend?
I am doing great, Dante. How you doing?
I'm living the dream, man. I'm excited to talk about universal sections here. What you got?
Yeah, absolutely. I wanted to make the quick training on universal sections universal blocks because they're just super efficient like you were mentioning, right? They save a ton of time when you're creating your funnels, you know, or even your e comm shop, right? You're working on that. You have so many different pages, so creating universal blocks is just really beneficial and it's going to save you tons of time when you need to make edits to so many pages. And I think your example is actually the perfect example, right? Because we're in the holidays and you got to be thinking, hey, if I'm sending physical products, right, There is a deadline for that physical product to get to the destination before Christmas happens or before the holidays, when you're celebrating, when you want to gift someone something. So it's just really important to make sure that everything's always updated and cohesive across the board.
So 100. It was funny, as soon as you said, hey, that was a great example, in my mind, I was like, oh, somebody at home just said, terrible example. So let me give one more easy example that's going to apply to everybody without fail. Your funnel has footers, right? And typically in our footers, we're going to have our company logo and then our links are about us, our terms of service. Maybe we link out to our socials in our footer. So as exciting as December is, do me a favor, put a 1 in the chat if you also are not looking forward to the new year. Because during the new year, if not using Universal Sections, that means I have to re update the footer on every single funnel that I have live and active right now.
Oh yeah, it gets messy real quick.
It does. It's like January 1st to 2nd. You just spend your time updating footers and updating dates and emails and it's ridiculous. So this is going to solve all of it?
Absolutely. And I think another benefit to it all is not only that you're saving so much time, but you're being consistent about it too. Right. If you're updating hundreds of pages or however many, if you're making the same monotonous changes, boom, boom, boom, eventually you might make a typo, there might be some sort of mistake, and then you're losing continuity. Right. So with Universal Sections, you're keeping everything super consistent by making one edit and it's changing it across the board. So that's what I absolutely love about it. Now you were talking about headers, footers. Those are probably the biggest examples of Universal Sections. That's probably the biggest use case if you're thinking about it. You go to a website, you're shopping around, there's that home button always in the top, right. You're always able to find that. Also, you're typically have some sort of navigation bar. So if you're definitely doing E commerce, you're probably looking at some sort of dropdown bar, specifically mentioning products, things like that. So. So that's what Universal Blocks are really good on the E. Com front. And then when it comes to footers like Dante was talking about, things that are required, but maybe it's not necessary to keep it front and foremost. Right? Things like your legal links, things like your policies, your copyright. Right. It might be important or it might be required to put it on your store or in your funnels, but it's in your footer and it's there, it exists. So those are just some use cases for Universal Sections. And now I want to actually jump into clickfunnels so we can take a look at how to not only create one, but maybe make some edits and see how the results go about when we save it. So let me go ahead and share my screen here. All right, here we go. And I am in workout with me to workspace and I'm going to check out funnels in a second. But first and foremost I want to show you the store because we have a header universal block that I really want to show off. So I'm going to head over to the store designer, get into the editor here. All right, and there we go. So we can see I am in the editor now, right, if you're familiar with the editor. But we have a couple different universal blocks right here on the top. I can see there's a free shipping one and then there is our navigation header bar. So we have our logo there on the left and then we have our drop downs. Now you can see when I hover over other elements here, right, I can make changes right here in the editor to all my text, to my logos, things like that. But when I hover over the universal block, you actually see I can't make any changes. I have to click the edit block button. So if I tap into that, it's going to remove everything else away and it's simply going to say you are making changes right here in this universal section and nowhere else, right? So if I come in here and let's say I wanted to make an adjustment to this drop down bar, right, I can make that. I can say, you know what, let's go ahead and add another one here. So what I'm doing is I'm essentially just adding to the universal block here and let's say I want to do an about us. What I would do is at this point, custom action link, I can or sorry, custom URL. And then I would take my about page, I would paste it right in here. And then if I save this, what that's going to do is that's going to add that section up there. But you're going to see when I move over to my other pages, I'm going to go to my product page. It's there already. So the about us section is already there. I can jump over to my collections page and I can see it's there as well. So again, I made one single change on my homepage and that adjusted across the board. So any product page someone shows up to, any collection they show up to, they're always going to see that universal block and it saves so much time. Now Dante was talking about this perfect example of like, hey, I need to ship to you on this specific day to get it in time for when you want to give your gifts. So what you would do is you can come up here in the free shipping worldwide, I'll click and edit universal block. And then let's say we have six days left, right? So I'll just copy this. If I can actually copy it.
There we go.
Six days left before Christmas. And now I'll go ahead and save this. And now if I go back to my Storefront. There you go. So it makes the changes across the board. It's really, really simple to just say, I need to make sure that I have a banner and it alerts everybody. Universal sections are by far the best way to do this.
And if I could just throw in a little something I've learned from our good friend Trey Llewellyn, it's a guarantee. It's an under the tree guarantee. So we'd put a banner across everything and we'd say, has a under the tree guarantee. It was fantastic.
I love that. Absolutely. Yeah. So before we fully wrap this up, how do you actually add a universal section? Right, Aaron, you're editing them, but you didn't even show how to actually add them in. So it's really simple. If you're familiar with our editor. Right. We have sections, we have rows, and we have elements. So that's the way the system works. If I just tap on add section, I can see we have all of our standard things we can add in here. But right at the top, I have this universal section. If I tap on that, there are tons of different templates in here. So I can see there are header templates, there are footer templates, and you can actually create one. So let's say this fitness free shipping one that we've created, that's a template. So once I create that, all I need to do is save that and now I can reuse that, I can edit that, I can make changes to it. It's really simple. And then I can just drag that to the top. Right. So just pull it up and it would simply be here. I can go back in and say free shipping and just like that. And it changes it. Right. Because I'm using that template from the other one. So you can see we don't obviously want to duplicate it, but you can see how it immediately adjusts it based off of my changes. So that is essentially universal blocks universal sections in a nutcase. One last thing, though, before we actually wrap it up. If I change to my mobile view, you're going to notice this header section goes from a navigation. I can see all of the things and it goes to a hamburger menu. Now, of course, we have a lot less surface area to work with on mobile, but that is definitely one thing to take in consideration. A really good rule of thumb is what some people will do is if you don't like how it adjusts your universal section when you go from desktop or mobile, I can simply duplicate this. Where's my clone section? There it is. And then I can come in, I can go here, and then I just tap on my mobile only. And now this is literally making this only appearing on mobile. Let me go ahead and save that. And then the top one, I want to do the same thing, but I want to make it my desktop only. And then if I go ahead and save this, what that's doing is that's going to allow me now to come back to my mobile view. I can come in and I can edit this universal block in any way I want to. And I am not going to affect my desktop version in any way, shape or form. So a good rule of thumb, if you ever see something that might be a little bit thrown off on mobile when it makes the adjustments, go ahead and duplicate that and then just make the mobile only and desktop only versions and then you can make adjustments as you see fit.
Fit.
All right. And with that being said, I believe that's everything. I wanted to talk about Universal Sections. Dante, is there anything that you're thinking of? Is there anything off the tip of your tongue that you want to get out?
Honestly, I don't think so. I. I think you did a great job explaining it there. It's really simple. You make the section, you add the section to all the funnels that you want to do to run that section and. And bingo, you're rocking and rolling. You know the typical headers and footers, just in case anybody is unaware, typical headers and footers, you're going to have a header that's probably going to have your logo, you're about us, your home, things of that nature, just like Aaron was showing. And then you're probably going to have a footer. And that footer is. Yep, just like Aaron will showcase here. That's going to be a very typical footer that you would see on websites or funnels. Many funnels, actually, many funnels forego the header. They do not have the header and they only have a footer. And that's where company logo goes, things of that nature. But aside from that, there's really cool ways to use Universal Sections. So I'd love to see. Make sure to let us know in the chat, in the comments how you're using Universal Sections. Or maybe if it's the first time that you've ever had universal sections and you just placed footers on all your funnels and you've just seen the power of that. Say all that to say, as always, this is built by funnel hackers for funnel hackers. So we'd love to know how universal sections have helped you. We would also love to know what things you need help with. What are you struggling with? What are you maybe having a hard time understanding inside the platform. We would love to make a show specifically on that topic for you. So that's all for me, Aaron, anything from you?
No, I appreciate it. That's a perfect wrap up. I just want to say thank you to everyone already attending here and watching it and we'll see you in the following Tuesday.
Sounds good. Next Tuesday, same time, same place.
See you Funnel hackers Take care.
Of.
