Day 2 : Intentionally working to fix my sleep

A creator averaging 4-6 hours of sleep tries grounding and morning sunlight to reset his circadian rhythm. He does a 90-minute gym session and 40-minute barefoot walk, then consciously reframes his attitude about eating late at dinner, choosing peanuts and a roll instead of a heavy meal.

Okay, this is day 2. I'm redoing it because I uploaded a video and said day 3, which was wrong. So the thing that I wanted to focus on for day 2 was, so my sleep, my sleep is not great. I'm averaging about 4 to maybe on a good night 6 hours of sleep a night, and I'm always waking up at 4 o'clock in the morning. 5 o'clock in the morning no matter what time I go to bed, whether I go to bed at 9, whether I go to bed at 11. So, um, I made a decision that I'm gonna wake up and actually try some of this grounding stuff and morning sunlight to see if I can regulate my circadian rhythm. So what I did was I got up and I went to the gym. So I was up at 4 AM at the gym for 90 minutes, and then I went walking barefoot in all of the grass around my neighborhood. That was quite invigorating, to be honest, because all the grass was wet. So after about 15 minutes of walking, my feet were frozen, man. It was crazy. So after 30 minutes of that, I put my shoes and socks on and continued walking for another 40 minutes. So, what I experienced as a result of that was this was just an amazing time, this hour walking, to just take in just the beauty, right? And the things I was grateful for. It's like, man, I'm grateful that I am in a neighborhood that has all these amazing spaces to walk in, all these beautiful trees. The sunshine was out. I mean, I just started counting the things that I normally just take for granted, right? I mean, I look around, I see all these beautiful trees, and I'm out walking again, obviously, and I just don't think about them. So yesterday I was very intentional about that. Now, how did that, how did that end up with my day? Well, I I still noticed that, like, my inner man or whatever it is wanted to get irritated about certain things. And I just was aware of it, you know. I just became aware that it wanted to. And for the most part— and when I say for the most part, there was one exception last night. We went out and as a family and we were out like swinging, you know, golf balls, which I'm terrible at, by the way. And we decided to go get something to eat and it was really late. I don't like eating after 6 o'clock. I want to have at least 3 hours before I go to bed after I eat. And so I had like a moment where I grumbled, it's too late to eat anyway. And then I caught myself, I was like, okay, all right, reel that back in, adjust that attitude. What are we grateful for? And I started, you know, just counting our blessings. Like, I got to spend time with my with my family, with my kids. Our kids actually wanted to, you know, invite us out to go drive golf balls, you know. And so we went out to dinner and I didn't order a full meal. I just ate, like, actually, I just ate some peanuts that were on the table. We went to Texas Roadhouse. And I ate about 2 ounces of peanuts and a dinner roll, so I didn't feel like I, you know, filled my stomach up before I went to bed. Anyway, that's neither here nor there, so I'm out again now taking in the morning sun, and this is actually day 3 when I'm recording day 2 video, and I'm going to do another video later today to catch you up on what's going on, so What's my lesson from day 2? Wake up and do something different, something intentional to affect a change in how you're, how I'm feeling, how, you know, what I'm doing for my body. So the morning sun is supposed to really help regulate the circadian rhythm. And I'm usually not out in the morning sun. I mean, I'm out in the gym early, but you know, I go from my house to my garage to my car to the gym, out of the gym, back in the car, back to the house, start working. So being able to get up and do this— I won't be able to do this every morning, like during the weekdays, this just probably isn't going to fit into my schedule. But we'll see what I can do. All I need is about 5 to 15 minutes in the morning sun, right? Okay, so that's it for now. Talk to you later.
