Tony Stark Policci says discouragement is a deadly viper that cripples your ability to resist challenges and help others. His habit: when difficulties pile up, look at a cloud and focus on its bright edge. That shift in focus is the way out of despair.

My diary entry for today is to remind myself to focus on developing a habit of looking for the silver lining in the cloud. And when you find it, continue to look at it instead of looking at the gray in the middle. In other words, don't give in to discouragement no matter how pressed you are, no matter how beset you may be by difficulty or challenges, because a discouraged soul is helpless. You can't resist the enemy, you cannot overcome difficulties, you can't even pray for others if you have a discouraged soul. So you gotta flee from every symptom of that discouragement, just like you would from a deadly viper. And don't be slow in turning your back on it unless you want to bite the dust of bitter defeat. I encourage you that, you know, if you are watching this today and you are feeling beset by difficulties and challenges, to go out and look up at the sky, and if you can find a cloud, look for the silver lining and focus on that. Focus on the hope and flee from the discouragement. That is your only way out. Thanks.
