Whenever I tell people that Reddit is an untapped marketing gold mine in real estate, I usually get the same response. Really? And my answer is yes. Reddit has one of the largest and most loyal communities Online, with over 1 billion monthly active users. And if you're saying to yourself, well, my clients aren't on there, you might want to rethink that as well, because the majority of Reddit users are actually Millennials or Gen Z. So if you are serving buyers and sellers in their 40s or under CH, chances are they've used it. And in fact, research shows that more than 40% of adult Redditors earn $50,000 or more a year, which means your audience is not only on there, but they've got money for a home now. On top of that, companies like Google and OpenAI have both struck deals with Reddit to train their models on its content. Which means when people ask questions inside of ChatGPT or Google, Reddit threads are increasingly what shows up. And this is yet another way for you to boost your visibility inside of search. But the big question is, well, how do I win using Reddit? The answer? Think help, not sell. And here's the playbook on how you get started. Step one Set up and optimize your Reddit account by keeping your username light hearted and more human sounding. Building a custom snoo for your avatar using an online AI image generator. Keep your bio short with a mix of personal and professional info about yourself. And finally, add all your links like your website and socials to your profile. Then moving on to step two. You're going to want to find the subreddits that your audience live in. For example, if you're targeting top of funnel content, join local lifestyle threads. Answer questions about schools, community hiking, restaurants or neighborhood events. The mindset should be the mayor of your town. Then moving on to middle of funnel content. You can look for housing adjacent conversations about property taxes or landlord laws or zoning market trends. Share insights that position you as the expert. And speaking of which. Finally, for bottom of funnel content, engage with transactional threads about mortgage advice, agent recommendations, or closing costs. These may be fewer, but they're a gold mine when they show. Moving on to step three Start building your karma. Aim for two to three thoughtful comments per day inside the threads you choose, with maybe one original post per week. Also, don't chase upvotes, just focus on providing value. Karma will follow. And always look for the threads that are actually active. So filter by things like new or hot. Then moving on to step four expand past the local subreddits, join broader discussions around real estate, personal finance and first time home buyer questions. And also don't overlook Realtor to Realtor subs as well. Here you can answer peer related questions, share insights and build better authority within your market. All of which can lead to more referrals and and finally for step five, find the tools that can help you be more effective. Maybe it's using Feedly or Google Alerts to help monitor mentions and threads. Bottom line, Reddit is about earning trust one conversation at a time. Do that in the referrals, brand mentions and yes, clients can follow.
