A 54-year-old reflects on how time accelerates with age, contrasting the false confidence of being 25 with the urgent reality that life passes faster than you think. The conversation warns against postponing goals, treating time as if you have endless years to figure things out.
You think when you're young that you have all this time. You have no time. It goes very fast. There's no time. Life is shorter than you think. I'm 54 years old right now.
Like that.
Okay, you're 25 and you think, wow, I'm young, I'm healthy, etc. I've got 10 years to figure it all out. I mean, it just fucking flew by.
Everyone's like, oh, later in life I want to do this, later in life I want to do that.
You don't have nearly as much time.
I really relate to this hard. I'm seeing it in my life right now. Like my mortality, it's kind of starting to stare me in the face a little bit. I started my business, my agency, 6 years ago this month. 7 years ago, I decided to actually be an entrepreneur and went into business. I'm now 31 years old. There's a lot of people in my circle, a lot of friends, a lot of family members that have waited to start their business, have waited to take the action they've wanted to take. Time flies. I mean, I'm 7 years into my entrepreneurship journey. I remember being 24 and thinking, man, I've got all this time and time has gone by like that. Don't wait around. We're all going to die.
