Chapters
Hey, this is Tim Pratt Jr. and I want to welcome you to the Student of Life podcast. Listen, we're going to get into so many transferable truths throughout the content of these episodes that I believe God is going to use to help you apply, because he's going to reveal what's already been there the entire time. Enjoy. So what's up everybody? So listen, this is just a check-in and we can call this one What's Next or something. This is episode 7. This will be counted It's episode 7, but I'm going to share just a few things on my heart and kind of what's coming up next. And so, uh, more interviews to come, probably about 2 more. Been having some conflicts and some things, and I'm kind of learning as I go, so I apologize for that. And no excuses, just learning as I go, you know, as that transition and stuff like that. Uh, but nevertheless, I have really been just kind of overwhelmed with the downloads. And, you know, how especially this— the last two seasons, my first season one and season two, you know, it was a lot of feedback. Some stuff was just preference, a lot of constructive criticism. And one thing that I had did, you know, especially when COVID happened, is I was going and kind of starting to study myself, study my episodes. Kind of when I was in sports, you know, I had to study my film and learning things I did wrong when I really took, you know, certain sports very, very serious, you know, especially when I was trying to learn certain things in baseball and, uh, and, you know, from junior high basketball, uh, as I started getting older, and just like, so those things of film study. And so with that, you know, I do feel like you have to not only just be a student of life, but you have to be a student of self. And with me, you know, one thing that I like to do, and you heard me talk about a lot, is evaluated experience. And so all that being said, that's what I'm learning as I'm growing with this podcast, with, you know, with lining out interviews and writing podcast scripts, and more so in the context to kind of, you know, give the guests a heads up of kind of what's coming and what you plan on talking about. It won't just be planned out because I don't know the thoughts that they would have, and vice versa, they don't know the thoughts that I would have. But it's just taking time, like I said, to have some type of format so we can have a direction to go with that episode. Uh, so that's kind of a shift, uh, that I, you know, had to kind of learn and study different concepts and things out there like that. Uh, also too, I'm not going to change the name of it, but I received a lot of good feedback from the Good Christian Bad Habits series that kicked off this season 4. And usually I know I try to stay around 10 episodes, and sometimes I throw like 2 bonus in there. But I don't know if this one is going to go up to 15 because, like I say, it is 2 more interviews that I want to get on here, maybe 3. But I do plan on doing a series speaking to fatherhood, uh, more— let me say, so one, being a man of God, uh, and then second, you know, being a husband if you are and then like, or just preparing yourself for that if that's something that you want to do, or just manhood in general and then fatherhood. So I really want to do a series, you know, one of my, uh, people that I really like to listen to, and he's very impactful, and it's the Dad's Hour podcast. And he really just, as he was speaking, this guy was speaking through him, just ignited me to really not, like I say, create an entity or anything that just focused directly on that, because I do want to stay under the branding of Student of Life. But I do want to start devoting some time and going after that, that target audience, because I see so many men out here that are broken, that are prideful. I've been through those things, that are tired. They're trying to provide and choose provision, and like I say, providing over and having the necessary provisions, but at the same time the balance between their, their kids and, you know, their, their spouse most importantly, because I believe just from being a person of faith that it is God, family, and your kids. Because I don't think you could— if you don't have unity amongst the spouse, the spouses, then you don't have unity amongst the family, among the family. And so, um, and then just challenge some norms that we have had, you know, just over the years. So I've been studying different things, you know, things that were created and maybe came from a place of hurt, uh, and so we adapted those things and we never questioned, you know, why do we think this way, or What do I need to unlearn in this space to move forward, to just become a better man? So I'm not going to be targeting, um, like beating up men or nothing like that. It's really just to empower but at the same time challenge. So I think some of the things will be challenging because it's challenging for me, but I also think that it will be very empowering if you tap in into it and you just track with me as we go there. And so if you know some men or just young men in your life, whether they're youth, because you always can prepare for the next version of yourself. One thing that I have always said is that, you know, when I was younger, I knew that I wanted to be married. I wanted kids. Well, let me take it back. I didn't know if I wanted kids, but I knew I wanted to get married. I, I guess I wanted one. I will say that I did want a legacy, and I wanted my first child to be a boy. And, you know, but as I evolved and just got older and start, start just maturing in certain areas, um, I, you know, wanted more and so on and so on. And so the point that I'm trying to make is that I wish I would— and when I was 18 or 20, I wish I would have, you know, enjoyed and been present in that time, but at the same time prepared for the man that I'm going to become. So when I would, you know, find a wife or, you know, bring a child through the grace of God into this world, that they would be solid, that they would have a foundation because their— her husband and their father did what he was supposed to do. And those are things I want to talk about. So these are things, as my dad say, coming down the pipe. This is what's what's next and what's to come on this episode and, uh, really go there and just, like I say, and, and bring people into that space and just share what's on my heart. And just hopefully it touches and inspires and, like I say, challenges you and just to connect, because we need each other, you know, especially in the climate and the things that we deal with today. We, we see so much stuff dealing with Black men, you know, and, uh, the white man and, you know, other ethnicities and things like that. But I believe that God still wants us to preach the kingdom. Uh, I can be very aware of the social constructs and all the, the norms and things like that. And I, and I do believe that systemic racism, uh, exists. I, I do think that we have to do things to keep challenging it, and it's sad that we do. I, I don't, I don't think— I'm not oblivious to it. And, uh, you know, one thing I had to learn is that you can speak to those things and raise awareness. And I, I'm still a person of faith, but at the same time, I still have to make sure that I don't get so indoctrinated with those things that I lose sight of the kingdom of God and God's kingdom agenda, if that makes sense. And so these are the things in the areas— like I said, they're going to be very controversial, probably very challenging, but you know that I truly like to stay biblical in If I'm wrong, whether I'm talking one-on-one, if I'm teaching or speaking, preaching from the pulpit, or just in my day-to-day life, and especially on this podcast, if it's brought to my attention, I promise you, just as I stated it, wherever I stated it is where I'm going to correct it. Um, I'm not saying I'm going to fold quickly because sometimes, like I say, we have to have a discerning of personal preference versus the truth. But long as it's truth and it's sound um, you know, hey, I'm willing to correct it, man, and, and move forward in life because I, I want to make sure that my life that I'm living through the power of God is biblical and just inspiring and pleasing to God. And so I, I'm not, you know, I guess I just want to talk to you and like just share, like I say, what's next and what's on my heart. So I have another friend coming on it that we're just going to talk about some things. Um, I plan on getting a guy to talk, uh, I'm not going to say his name, but to talk about like just family in the context of ministry. And then I want to transition to, to start working and having, you know, more women on here, uh, most important starting with my wife, you know, and just maybe other women that I admire and just respect in different type of industries and things like that. So I hope you've been enjoying the content. I really appreciate you for rocking with me. I want to encourage you to share, share, share. And, you know, even to the women, you know, I believe that the word of God, just like when, you know, we're preaching and teaching, I believe that you can find something in this too. And if you want to tune into a series, you know, I know it's going to be targeting men, but it might be good. Like I said, if you have a young son and let him listen to it and you all listen to it together and you just kind of unpack or, or whatever, you know, whatever God puts on your heart. And even if it's just you, you know, it might give you a dynamic into like, wow, you know, these are some things that I can talk to about with, uh, I mean, you can talk to about with your man, you know, or your father or brother or just whomever. And so, um, just tap in, just tap in and continue to share, share, share. And, you know, most importantly, I want to leave you with this, um, this podcast has really forced me to step into areas and just really challenged me to grow. Because you all know that I don't want to be just another person up here just marketing Christ. I want to be proof that his power is real, that it's the evidence that he has touched my life. And so with that being said, is that if you have no intent to live or, you know, die to self And I don't know why, I just want to share this on my heart. If you have no intent to choose and truly live for God— not saying that it's going to be an overnight process, it's always going to be challenges until the day we die and we are reunited with him— but if you have no intent, I would say that— I don't, I don't want to say that this podcast isn't for you, but it's going to be very challenging because I also truly believe that as long as there's breath in your body, there's still hope. The blood can still reach you. You can still be saved because of what Christ did if you believe by faith and you truly accept that. But at the same time, I also— I'm very aware that if you have no intent or just don't believe that, you don't— like, this stuff is make-believe or whatever, then I understand that. Like, I might not be your cup of tea. Uh, but at the same time, I would encourage you to still share with somebody that you might know. And, uh, because like I told you, my heart truly is just to reach whatever God destined for me to reach, whatever that he created me for, to place me on this earth. I, I just want to reach those souls, and whatever that looks like and what capacity he wants me to do it I'm just truly trying to walk in more and more humility. I'm like trying my best to just be the person that God created me to be. And it's challenging. It's challenging because there's some things about Tim Pratt Jr. that are just there, like they have been rooted, you know, and it's challenging to uproot those things. And so that's why I say like, this is a journey with me., and I want to invite you on it. Like, this is the Student of Life Podcast, but the name sums it up all. I am not all-knowing. I read in a book that I'm really a lot— in a lot of things, the lead learner, meaning that, hey, I'm willing to step out here with you and be a student of life, a student in God most importantly, and share these things with you. And my views and my takes, like, they evolve as I grow and, you know, mature in the things of God. So things that I probably said in season 1, as I have grown now, like those core things, they're probably the same. Like, because, you know, I don't believe God changed, but we are human beings. And so I— certain things probably were coming out that was like, no, that's more of you, Tim, versus God. And I stand corrected. And so I'm not saying anyone said anything, it's just on my— in my spirit to share this. And so we are Growing together. And if you are a person like that, I really believe that you should tap into this podcast and, uh, or tap into a similar podcast because I might not be your cup of tea, but tap into a similar podcast like that and just grow. Whatever you've done at up until this point that's provided you comfort, don't stay there. Continue to grow in the things of God and just life in in general. Be blessed, man. I love you all.
