Are you looking to drop body fat without losing your hard-earned lean muscle? A major key that a lot of people miss in the weight loss game is that they focus on the fat loss without worrying about preserving their lean muscle, and this is a big issue that can make your fat loss journey not sustainable in the long run. If you lose your lean muscle along with your fat, then your metabolism decreases and it becomes easier to gain weight later. But there's a very simple nutrition strategy that you can use that can help you to preserve your lean muscle mass while still focusing on fat loss, and that's making sure that you're still in a calorie deficit with a high amount of protein. And that's why today I wanted to show you my 5 simple summer smoothie recipes that are perfect for helping you to lose fat while still maintaining your lean muscle and keeping your metabolism going. These 5 smoothies are all packed with at least 30 grams of protein and 4 grams of fiber and over, while still being low calorie. So you can be in a calorie deficit without feeling like you're starving and still feeding your lean muscle. And speaking of high protein, a few words from today's sponsor. So as you may notice as you're watching me make these smoothie recipes, you're going to see that I'm consistently using a protein powder from Legion Athletics. Now I've been using Legion Athletics products for maybe 6 months now, and I can absolutely tell the difference in the quality, the taste, and just the care that they put into products. What I love most about them as a company is that they are completely transparent— no proprietary blends or nonsense— so you know exactly what you're getting in each product and in what doses. Their protein in particular tastes absolutely amazing. I've tried about 8 different flavors at this point, haven't had a bad one. It mixes smooth and it digests really well, and it's third-party tested for purity like all of their products. And if you're interested and want to try them out, be sure to use code Victoria at checkout, and new customers will get a buy one get one 50% off your entire cart, and existing customers will get 20% cash back on future orders. Thanks again to Legion Athletics for sponsoring today's video. All right, so time for smoothie recipe number 1, a peanut butter and jelly smoothie. This is one of my favorites because who doesn't love a good PB&J? This particular smoothie tastes like a peanut butter jelly sandwich in a glass. To get this one started, you're going to take about a cup of unsweetened almond milk, a quarter cup of peanut butter powder, a half cup of vanilla protein powder. I like to use the whey protein from Legion. It blends really smoothly and tastes delicious. A half cup of frozen strawberries, and a half cup of water. Again, reasons why I like this one: it tastes delicious, it's amazing. The almond milk keeps it light, the peanut butter powder gives it a nice peanut buttery texture without all the extra fat and calories from traditional peanut butter. You get strawberries in there to boost your fiber and give you lots of healthy antioxidants, and then the additional protein powder just boosts your protein up a bit for the day, helping you to stay full and well fueled for your day ahead. And hey, if you want some healthy fats in there, you can add a spoon or two of hemp hearts in there for some omega-3s. I actually had this smoothie this morning and I am still full many hours later. Recipe number 2: a creamy mango tropical smoothie. So make this again, pretty simple. Add it all to your blender and blend. You're going to add 3/4 cup of unsweetened almond milk, 1/2 cup of frozen mango, 1/2 cup of frozen pineapple, about 1/3 cup of protein powder. You're going to add 1/2 cup of cottage cheese, 2 tablespoons of unsweetened coconut flakes, 1 teaspoon of maple syrup, and 1/2 a lime that is juiced and zested for a little extra zing. A few things that I love about this one is that it quite literally tastes like vacation in a glass. Like it's giving high protein piña colada. And I know the cottage cheese sounds weird, but it like makes it so filling and the texture so creamy and delicious. It's wonderful. And from the pineapple and mango, you're getting tons of vitamin C and some extra digestive enzymes boosted in there. And the coconut flakes give like a nice extra texture. Next one on the list is the orange carrot and turmeric smoothie. Again, another smoothie with a completely different flavor profile, which is good because it keeps things fresh. So to make this smoothie, you're gonna add the following to your blender: 1 peeled navel orange, 1 carrot that is peeled and chopped, about 1/2 cup of plain Greek yogurt, 1 teaspoon of ground flaxseed, 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric, and about 2/3 ounce of collagen powder. This one is an anti-inflammatory and immune-supporting powerhouse. The orange and carrot combo gives you a good dose of your vitamin A and vitamin C with some natural sweetness. The Greek yogurt gives you some protein boost with some probiotics, and the added flaxseed is like the chef's kiss with some extra omega-3 and a fiber boost. And lastly, we get the turmeric and the collagen, which is great for joint and skin health. The end result of this one is a nice smoothie with a bright flavor, great for morning energy and recovery. Next, we're going to the strawberry kefir smoothie. So to make this one, you're going to add all the following to a blender: about 1 1/4 cups of plain kefir, 1 cup of frozen strawberries, 1/4 cup of vanilla protein powder, and 1 tablespoon of chia seeds. The kefir is wonderful for some protein and probiotics. The strawberries have some great fiber and vitamin C. The chia seeds provide some good omega-3s, and the protein powder, of course, for some lean muscle support. And lastly, number 5 on the list is the creamy cherry smoothie. This one's another simple one that's a go-to of mine for sure. You're going to add 1/2 cup of frozen cauliflower, 1/2 cup of frozen cherries, 1½ cups of plain Greek yogurt, 1¼ cup of water, and about 3 ice cubes. Blend that all together and you're good to go. I know the cauliflower sounds weird, but it brings out this like creamy texture in the smoothie, and you don't taste it at all. It's kind of crazy. You get some good protein, probiotics from the Greek yogurt, some good antioxidants from the cherries. This one's probably one of the lower calorie options, but definitely still high in fiber and will keep you full most of the morning. And there you have it, all 5 smoothies packed with protein, low calorie, high fiber, helping you to stay energized all day long while prioritizing fat loss and preserving your lean muscle. And And if you want all these recipes summarized in a document, I put that down in the description below. And let me know in the comments which one you plan on trying first.
