6 Travel Friendly High Protein Snacks (TSA-Approved!)

In this YouTube video, Victoria S. Dorsano walks viewers through the common frustration of finding nutritious, protein‑rich snacks that can survive airport security and be eaten discreetly on a flight. She presents seven travel‑friendly, high‑protein snack options that are 100 % TSA‑approved, providing detailed product recommendations, nutritional facts (protein grams, calories, sodium), and practical packing tips. The lineup includes People’s Choice jerky crisps, three specific protein bars (BSN Protein Crisp, Bear Bells, Legion), Babybel cheese paired with pre‑peeled hard‑boiled eggs, roasted edamame packets, a collapsible protein shaker for powder (with a note on TSA’s handling of white powder), collapsible containers for overnight oats, and a bonus egg‑white wrap idea. Throughout, she shares personal anecdotes, highlights cost‑effectiveness versus airport food, and offers a brief affiliate plug for Legion whey protein. The video concludes with a call to action to book nutrition coaching, like, subscribe, and comment on favorite snacks.

We've all been there. You're getting ready to head to the airport and you're rushing around in the last few minutes to try to figure out what kind of snacks you can scrounge around for to pack with that can make it through security, that you can easily eat on the airplane without bothering anybody next to you. But your Uber driver is already outside and they're messaging you saying, hey, I'm here, I'm waiting, and you're already cutting it pretty close to your departure time for your flight. So you think, okay, screw it, I'll just get something at the airport. But then reality hits. You're standing there in Terminal B staring at some pretty old protein bars that look like they've been on the shelf since 2019. Somehow still costing $7 each, and they're not even like the good ones. They're like the crumbly Nature Valley bars that you end up breaking one piece off and the whole thing just disintegrates in your hands, and then you have crumbs all over everybody next to you, and everyone's looking at you, and they're upset, and it's a whole catastrophe before you've even taken off your flight. Yeah, those ones. And then you hit that 6-hour layover, and your only option for food becomes that sad, sad little sandwich that's in the corner of some little convenience market store store, and it's pretty much just 2 slices of white bread, 1 tiny piece of turkey, and an old piece of cheese that looks like it's melting. And not to mention, it's about $17. So then you end up at your destination completely starving and only have had maybe about like 5 grams of protein in the day. But what if I told you that these 6 protein-packed snacks are going to completely change how you travel? And the best part is that they are all 100% TSA approved, and you'll be able to make it through security with these food items on you. Okay, so first up for my favorite travel-friendly snack that is packed protein are these jerky crisps. So these are People's Choice brand, and what I love about these in particular is that these are no ordinary pieces of beef jerky. Unlike bags of jerky that you find at airports that A, cost a lot of money, and B, are loaded with a bunch of sugar and salt that make you feel bloated after eating them, this is very low in sodium and contains way more protein and is way healthier for you. Here's why. The only ingredients in this package are beef, water, and salt. That's it. And this one package is about 210 calories and 40 grams of protein and only 220 milligrams of sodium. So these will not leave you feeling all water-bloated and gross after traveling. I mean, look at these things. They are just— it's just straight protein, straight protein, and they're super satiating. They're amazing. The flavor is really good. It literally tastes like eating a steak. And the package is very thin, so it fits in any backpack or carry-on that you're bringing with you. People's Choice, you guys nailed it. Travel-friendly snack option number 2: protein bars. Now you guys, I've tried a lot of protein bars, like an ungodly amount of protein bars. I've actually made several taste testing videos of me trying multiple protein bars and discerning which ones are actually good tasting and which ones taste like cardboard. But there are 3 that I can personally vouch for that I really enjoy for a couple different reasons. First one are these BSN Protein Crisp Bars. Now unlike traditional protein bars that are usually chewy, these ones are crispy like a rice crispy treat, and they still pack about 20 to 22 grams of protein per bar. Macros are great. It's usually around 200 to 190 calories, so not too high calorie of a bar. You're getting a lot of protein for a small caloric punch. Other thing I like about these bars in particular is they have 6 grams of dietary fiber, so you're getting in some of that fiber that you need to keep your bowels moving. Other one I'm a big fan of are these Bear Bells bars. Pretty much any of the flavors are great. I like the birthday cake ones and salty peanut. Those are great. Again, a lot of bang for your buck. It's about 20 grams of protein per bar, a little less fiber than the other ones, but easy to pack nonetheless. And lastly, the Legion bars that I mentioned— well, I ate all those, so I don't have any to show you. But what I do really like about them is that there's not any chocolate layer to them. So if you're going somewhere warm or going to be traveling in a warm airplane or warm environment and you're worried about your protein bars melting, the Legion protein bars are going to be a safe bet. But I do have to show you they have protein cookies too, which are equally as good. And delicious and also won't melt in your bag. Okay, so my third favorite travel-friendly snack are these Babybel cheeses, which are super easy to carry with you. You could snack on them. I like the light versions. They have more protein, a little less calories if that's, you know, something that you're being conscious of. So I think this is 50 calories for 5 grams of protein. I like to bring a couple of these alongside with some hard-boiled eggs that I'll make the night before I'm traveling. Peel them, put them in a little plastic baggie, so I'm not having to peel them at the airport, and then I'm good to go. So between this and a couple hard-boiled eggs, you're getting some really nice like whole food sources of protein. Okay, so this next travel-friendly snack is for my plant-based friends out there, and these are roasted edamame packets. They are crunchy, they are satisfying, and they are packed with protein, and they're so nice and individually wrapped. Amazing. This little packet has 11 grams of protein. It's only about 120 calories, so it makes for a really protein-dense snack. Snack, and it's just so satisfying with the crunch. It's so good. These ones are sriracha flavored, which are amazing. Okay, so this fifth travel-friendly protein-dense snack is actually one of my new favorites because I found this container that makes it work. So you can still have your protein shakes, and here's how you do it without liquid going through security and TSA. You get a collapsible protein shaker. So how this works Just pops open like that. So nice and easy. And when you're going through security, all you need to do is keep it collapsed. There's a little actual section for you to put protein powder into. You put this little shaker, you know, mixer thing in there on top of it, close it, and then once you go through security, expand it, fill it up with water, or go to your, you know, one of those little markets, get some almond milk, add that in, you're good to go. Now I will say having suspicious white powder in a container may be something that gets you pulled aside in TSA. I've done it a couple of times, haven't had any issues 4 out of 5 times. The 5th time they'll just pull you aside, take a little Q-tip of the stuff, test it to make sure it's not explosives, and then you're good to go. That's the only word of caution I will say with that, and that's worst case scenario. Speaking of protein powders, one of my favorites that's been the most blendable with just being able to shake has been Legion's whey protein. So if you're interested, I'll drop a link down below. You can use my code Victoria for 20% off your first order. Highly recommend checking out their whey protein flavors. They have so many great flavors. This one has been amazing. It's peanut butter fudge. I've tried the birthday cake, fruity cereal, a bunch of the other ones, but it mixes like marvelously. You just need a couple shakes and the whole thing's like blended perfectly. Highly recommend. Speaking of collapsible containers, my 6th item also involves one just in a different way. So normally I'm a huge fan of overnight oats, but But obviously that's a little hard to bring a container with you of overnight oats to the airport, and then you're trying to fit this container in your carry-on and it might not fit and it's weird. So another thing I've loved are these collapsible containers. Same principle, basically you squash it once you're done eating whatever's inside of it and it slides right into your backpack and takes up minimal space. So you can make those overnight oats without any issues and bring it along with you and enjoy. These are one of my favorites. These are chocolate peanut butter protein oats and they are so Freaking good. Just smelling it makes me want to eat it right now, which I just had lunch, so I'll hold off on a little bit. Highly recommend this as a travel-friendly food because very easy to bring with you, number one. Collapsible container makes it super simple, number two. Really high in protein, a good source of carbs. This will keep you fueled and full for a good while while traveling. And you want to snag the recipe for my peanut butter overnight oats, then I will put that link down below as well. You can download the recipe there. Okay, so I lied. I realized that I actually have 7 snacks, so there is one more bonus category for you. And I think this is a good one to leave for the end because it is super easy, super simple, tastes delicious, and there's a couple different varieties you can make. If you haven't tried these egg wraps, I highly recommend them. They are amazing. They're made from egg whites. They have different flavors. This is just normal. This is like a sweet cinnamon flavor. Take one of these because it's made out of egg whites to begin with. It's only 30 calories and 5 grams of protein. So cinnamon one, grab one of these, add some peanut butter Add, you know, a few slices of banana, wrap that up, put it in a Ziploc bag, good to go. Normal flavor ones, you can grab some of these, add some few slices of deli turkey to that, and boom, you got like a 15 to 20 gram protein snack along with you. Pop that in a Ziploc bag, good to go.
