Build Stronger Ankles, Knees, Hips & More w/ the Freak Athlete Essentials Tri-Flexor (FULL REVIEW)

In this video Victoria S. Dorsano reviews the Freak Athlete Essentials Tri‑Flexor, a modular steel piece of equipment designed for ATG‑style workouts in small spaces. She explains why she needed a multi‑purpose tool for hip‑flexor raises, tibialis work, ankle rotations, donkey kicks, leg extensions, and other unilateral movements, and contrasts the Tri‑Flexor with less effective alternatives such as monkey‑foot devices, kettlebell foot straps, and reverse‑squat straps. She walks through the Tri‑Flexor’s key design elements – interchangeable sidebars, a removable front bar, a secure heel strap with Velcro, a heel‑pivot point, and an overload strap – highlighting how each component can be swapped to target different muscle groups. Dorsano shares her hands‑on experience: the unit feels sturdy yet portable, the strap is initially stiff but breaks in with use, and the system can safely hold up to 45 lb per bar (though most users need far less). She outlines purchasing options (basic set, add‑on clips, Olympic plates) and praises Freak Athlete Essentials for responsive customer service, same‑day shipping, a 100‑day trial, and a lifetime warranty. A discount code (Victoria10) is provided for viewers. The video ends with a call‑to‑action to like, subscribe, and support the brand.

So you guys, it is time that I tell you about one of my new favorite pieces of equipment that I've been using for my ATG style workouts. If you've seen any of my other videos, then you know I've been doing some of the ATG style workouts for a long time now, probably about a year and a few months. And with that, you know, with doing the ATG program, there are some exercises that require some equipment, but I'm somebody who likes to keep it simple. I live in a small space and I don't want to have a ton of big pieces of equipment around. So I got the opportunity to try out the TriFlexor from Freak Athlete Essentials and I want to tell you guys all about it. So this is the TriFlexor, hence the 1, 2, 3 for tri. Um, it's really awesome, you guys, for a multitude of reasons I want to get into. So the first reason I really wanted to, um, use the TriFlexor for some of my workouts is for those hip flexor raises, um, where you strap something onto your foot and you're able to, you know, stand on one foot and then raise the other foot up and really work the hip flexor. And previous to using the TriFlexor, the only other option that I had heard of was something called like a monkey foot. Foot, or, um, really, you know, strapping a dumbbell to the bottom of your foot somehow with like Saran Wrap, or hooking your foot into a kettlebell. And I didn't want to invest in a monkey, a monkey foot, because I was like, again, I want pieces of equipment that are multi-purpose for like many different things. That's just kind of, kind of how I invest my equipment. And, um, the kettlebell thing, when you hook your foot into the kettlebell and raise your knee up to do that hip flexor raise, uh, the problem with is one, you really have to keep your foot flexed for like a good time, and it, it fatigues out your tibialis muscles before it actually fatigues your hip flexor. So I'd always have to stop early in doing those reps because my tibialis would start to burn out before I could actually get the good exercise in my hip flexors, which was a bummer. And the second thing is just not really comfortable either, uh, to stick your foot through a kettlebell. Like, it's putting a lot of pressure on the top of the foot. And for those of you guys that are familiar with like the ATG style workouts or ATG exercises, then you probably might be asking like, why wouldn't I just use a reverse squat strap and do hip flexor pulls that way with the strap? And yes, that's a good solution, but not entirely what I was looking for. I was looking for a piece of equipment that I could work unilaterally with each hip flexor because I do have one hip flexor that's stronger than the other. And I was also looking for something again that could be multi-purpose and serve a lot of different functions at one time. So like I was saying, the original function that I was really interested in using the Triflexor for was initially for those hip flexor raises, because with the, uh, with the Triflexor, you have like this really nice secure area to strap into your entire foot, and it's adjustable. There's a nice secure heel strap with Velcro on the back to secure, secure your heel in. And like I said, you can adjust the strap so that your whole foot can fit in there, so it's not just the top of your foot holding on to a kettlebell. Your whole foot can slide into the entire thing. That was really a great selling point for me. So just getting into the design features a little bit. So with the hip flexor raises, I actually don't need this front bar on there. I take that off and it just screws on and off so easily. So this is the longer bar that it comes with and these two come off as well. And I'll get into like why you'd want to remove these in a sec. But basically for the hip flexor raises, you just keep these two sidebars on, that front one comes off. Super easy. So it's modular in a sense where you can kind of design this as you want it to. And then with this setup with the two sidebars, you can not only do those hip flexor raises where you're raising one knee up, but you can do things like donkey kicks where you're activating the glutes and hamstrings. You could do other exercises like leg extensions. There's so much you can do with these two sidebars just as it is. So those are just some different ways that I really thought were unique that you can use this, um, Triflexor with those two sidebars. But wait, there's more. So the coolest part about this is, like I said, that it's convertible. So let's say I don't want to do that exercise in particular, but like in a lot of the ATG style workouts, there's tibialis raises, right? And I want to work the front of my, my tibs, um, intentionally, not with like a kettlebell hanging there unintentionally, but you get what I'm saying. So you take the longer bar attachment and you just so easily screw this thing on. You just gotta find— there we go. Um, and boom, it's converted. Look at that. And I could do the same thing. I'm strapping my foot in there and I'm able to put, uh, you know, weight on the front of this and do tibialis raises, which is great. And then beyond being able to use this for your tibialis, you can obviously use it for ankle rotations and really work the full range of motion into the ankle as well. Here's another piece of this that I really, really love too, is this little heel pivot point back here. So it was something I honestly didn't notice right off the bat when I got this in. But then I started, I was like, why is this uneven in the back? And I realized, oh my gosh, yes, it has this other cool use factor where you can stand on something and really work the tibialis muscles in a unique way till failure. And the other cool thing that I love about this is, again, this goes into like the multi factor uses and the ways you can kind of design this, which is super cool. So you can really like assemble it the way you want to, is that there's this strap that you can, that it comes with, that if you see in the front of the, of the piece of equipment there, there's a little hole. So you basically, what I did is just kind of like, I'll push this back a little bit and then strap the, put the strap through and I can use that to help guide my tibialis if I'm doing standing tib raises with this heel piece pivoting on like a surface, like whether that's a curb or, you know, a riser or anything like that. And I can use the strap to help assist that up and really work my tibialis till failure. The strap also works for, you know, seated tib raises too. But I just thought that that was really unique and I haven't seen that in other, you know, in other tib bars. And I really enjoy that ability to get extra stability even with doing ankle rotations too and being able to guide my ankle around a little bit more smoothly. So the strap has been really cool to utilize with this too. So that's a big overview on like the functionality piece that I really love about the TriFlexor. I do want to talk about the feel of this too. So, you know, from my standpoint, it's very sturdy, like it's steel, very sturdy. So it's, it's, you know, decently heavy. It's not too heavy though. I definitely can carry this around with me. So very portable. I would say that one of the things that I'm like a little iffy on that I think with time I can notice it getting better is the strap. It is a little tough to adjust and pull through and get this to adjust. It's kind of stubborn a little bit, but I've noticed as I've used it that basically the strap's getting more and more smooth to move through. It's getting more flexible. It's really stiff to start, which is a good thing because your foot's really secure in there, but it's just like one of those things you kind of have to break in a little bit. So just keep that in mind. If it feels like it's not adjusting smoothly, that's just because the strap has to get broken in a little bit, has to get a little bit more flexible. But, you know, other than that, I'd rather have my foot be more secure in it and deal with a little bit of the strap issues than the strap be overly flexible and kind of like stretching out as I'm using it. But overall, it is really nice that it's adjustable to your foot size. So, you know, I wear different shoes. Sometimes I wear my barefoot shoes from Xero. Sometimes I wear my more platformed volleyball shoes that take up a little bit more space. Space and I have to adjust this. I know you can use this barefoot, but I haven't done that yet. But it is really nice that you can adjust the strap so that the foot is secure no matter the size of the foot, the size of the shoe that you put in there. Now you can purchase this completely as is with just the 3-bar attachments and the overload strap that comes with, or you can purchase it with, you know, this, all that, and then clips, or you can purchase it with all that, clips, and then Olympic plates as well if you don't have plates to use at home or at your gym. Now, as far as like the weight capacity that this can, you know, really hold, um, it's fine. Like, you can hold up to 45 pounds on each loading bar, uh, which you shouldn't need unless you're like— I don't know what you'd be doing with that much weight. But for most of the muscles you're going to be working with the, um, with the Triflexor, you really don't need all that much. Like, for the most part, I have like maybe 5 or 10s on each side and that's, that's it. Or a 10 on the front or a 10 and a 5 really. So really not that much. It would be a lot if you loaded it more than that, but who knows, there's strong people out there. But it does have that capacity to really load it up, you know, 45, 45 pounds. So if you're doing that, good for you. That's insane. Like leave a comment down below. What are you doing? Like what are you eating to be able to do that? Aside from the TriFlexor itself being such a great product, I just have to vouch for Freak Athlete Essentials themselves as a company, they do a fantastic job as a small business serving their customers really well.
