The Best Neck Massager For Pain Relief (SKG G7 Pro Review)

In this video, Victoria S. Dorsano shares her personal struggle with chronic neck and nerve pain, describing how conventional physical therapy still left her pain above a 3/10. She was approached by SKG to review their G7 Pro neck massager, a device she had previously owned but never found effective. Intrigued by its claim to combine TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) and EMS (electrical muscle stimulation)—technologies commonly used in physical therapy—she tests the unit and reports an immediate drop in pain from 4‑6/10 to 1/10. Victoria explains the four integrated modalities: TENS, EMS, heat with red (640 nm) and near‑infrared (850 nm) light therapy, and sustained vibration delivered through nine floating stainless‑steel heads with titanium nitride coating. She details the physiological rationale for each modality, citing pain‑gate theory for TENS, muscle activation for EMS (including uses in rehab and spaceflight), anti‑inflammatory effects of red/NIR light, and the safety of gentle, non‑percussive vibration for the cervical area. Practical usage tips include wetting the skin for conductivity, starting at low intensity, and adjusting heat, vibration, and traction modes via the device or the companion FutureWear app, which offers 11 presets and custom mode creation. The G7 Pro is praised for its foldable, lightweight design (≈ headphone weight), 140‑minute battery life, and award‑winning aesthetics. Safety warnings note contraindications for implanted metal devices and the need for medical clearance for underlying conditions. Victoria concludes that the G7 Pro effectively reduces acute neck pain, facilitates physical‑therapy exercises, and can also serve as a relaxation tool for tension‑free users, recommending it strongly while noting the intensity may be jarring for newcomers. She teases a future review of the W9 Ultra low‑back massager and invites viewer questions.

So I've been dealing with neck pain and nerve pain coming from my neck for the past few months, and I finally got myself into physical therapy. And still, even with pt, getting my neck pain below a 3 out of 10 is still a huge challenge right now. Then I put this thing on for a few minutes and my neck pain pretty much dropped down to a 1 immediately, and I did not expect that that was going to happen at all. So the company who makes this crazy contraption, which I'm going to get into talking about in a second, is SKG, and they reached out to me a few weeks ago asking if I would review this G7 Pro neck massager, to which I was like, well, you know, maybe, because I already have some of them at home. I have several neck massagers and none of them have really made an impact in my neck pain. And I frankly just didn't want to be disappointed by another product who overpromised and underdelivered. But like anybody who's dealing with pain for any duration of time, you start to get desperate and you're like, you know what, let's try it. Let's try it out. Specifically what sold me on trying out this neck massager was that it said it had TENS and EMS built in. And I was like, that's interesting because that's the same technology that a lot physical therapy clinics use to reduce pain. And oh my gosh, you guys, I am so glad I tested this thing out. It is wild, and I am so excited to tell you more about it, specifically the different modalities that this amazing thing has in it and how much it's helped me. And of course, along with the science breakdown behind why it works. All right, so let's talk about the tech behind this device, because this is truly where SKG differentiates themselves from your, like, average kneading massager. The G7 Pro is actually combining 4 different modalities at once. We have TENS, which stands for transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, EMS, which stands for electrical muscle stimulation, heat with added red light therapy, and vibration. So let's go ahead and break down each one of those. And a quick context on why this matters: imagine looking down at your phone like most of us do when we're texting or using it. We typically are doing this at a 60-degree angle, which in this position you actually end up putting about 60 pounds of pressure on your neck. All right, so let's get into the TENS component. This aspect works on your sensory nerves. The current theory is that this activates pain modulating pathways, essentially creating like a competing signal that can reduce the amount of pain that you can perceive at any given point. It's not actually healing tissue, but it's turning down the volume on your body's pain signals. Then, like I mentioned before, we have the electrical muscle stimulation, and this actually causes muscle contractions, which can feel kind of strange but also really, really good. In pt, this type of device is typically used to activate muscles that are guarded or not working properly. And when your neck is in chronic tension, those muscles can sometimes get stuck in like a protective spasm, and EMS can help to interrupt that a little bit. In addition to being used in a lot of rehab protocols, like for example your ACL, where they can activate the quad muscle with EMS to stimulate that muscle and prevent atrophy. EMS is also used often for people who have to be in situations where there's no gravity, like astronauts. NASA often uses EMS technology for their astronauts to help to stimulate the muscles and prevent atrophy when they don't have gravity and normal muscle contractions happening due to the lack of gravity. But typically the equipment that they have up there can kind of be more bulky, so this is a much more compact version of that built into the G7 Pro, and it weighs about the same as a pair of headphones, and it even folds so you can take it with you anywhere. So the next component is that heat and light. The G7 combines 640-nanometer red light with 850-nanometer near-infrared light, and if you've ever seen those LED beauty masks, it's the same exact kind of wavelength that's used there, particularly for soothing and anti-inflammatory benefits. I've actually talked a lot about the healing benefits of red light therapy in this video here if you want to check that out. And while yes, there's still some evidence developing to support the use of red near-infrared light. It is a legitimate area of research and it is very promising. And combine that with the wraparound design that adds the heat component. It just feels so good. And finally, there's the vibration component to this. And it's worth noting that this is sustained vibration, not percussion. You can think of percussion as like those massage guns where it's pulsing in and out. This distinction is actually really important for the neck because having aggressive percussion devices near the cervical area can actually be dangerous. The G7's vibration is a little bit more gentler. And broader and more diffuse. All that's delivered through these 9 floating heads on the device that really do a good job of adjusting to your neck shape and around like the traps area. Now, integrations of different therapies like this, especially with like TENS and EMS, is something that can be used to reduce pain temporarily to get you to a point where you can utilize other modalities and other therapies to really make an impact in healing your neck area if you have any kind of issue. So tools like these are really best used in a broader approach, like alongside physical therapy, exactly how I'm using it, helping me essentially bring down my acute pain from like a level 4, 5, or 6 to a 1 or 2, which therefore makes it a lot easier for me to be able to do my physical therapy exercises and make it through my day without pain. And again, even if you're not somebody that has neck pain at all and you just have tense shoulders and want to relax, this is a fantastic device for that. You're really getting a lot bundled into a small compact device. Okay, so let's get into what it's actually like using this device. First off, the foldability is great. It has made it so easy for me to bring this device with me. I've brought it in my gym bag. I'm going to be traveling in a day or two and I'm going to actually pack this along with me. So it's going to be so easy for me to travel with. One thing I do want to note is the quality of the massage heads. These puppies are stainless steel with titanium nitride coating, which gives them this nice gold matte finish. But it's not just for aesthetic purposes. Titanium is a very biocompatible substance, meaning it's unlikely to cause any contact irritation. And it's also corrosion resistant, so it won't degrade over time. Okay, so one thing I want to say, when you first put this on and you turn this device on, the TENS and the EMS is a little surprising. I started at a level 1 for intensity on the TENS and EMS setting, and that was plenty for me. If you're somebody who is aware of what a TENS unit feels like, then you kind of know that like kind of zappy feeling, but in a good way. It's a good feeling. It interrupts again those pain signals. So you may want to turn it up a little bit higher, but there's tons of different adjustable features, including that intensity on the TENS and EMS setting. So you can just simply start low and work your way on up. A pro tip here when using this is you actually want to wet the skin slightly and the heads of the massage device before putting it on and turning it on. This helps with the conductivity and making the electrical stimulation feel a little bit smoother. The combination of the electrical stimulation with the heat and the vibration is so, so, so nice. You can feel the heat because of the wraparound design that I mentioned before. You can feel the heat all around your neck and there's several different levels of heat. So you can do no heat or you can do the highest level of heat depending on your preference. Again, just like the intensity of the EMS and TENS stimulation, totally adjustable with the heat. And same with the vibration mode. You can adjust that to your preference as well. But one of the coolest things is with the TENS and the EMS and the vibration happening, it feels like you are almost getting neck traction, and it's actually designed to do that, to feel like it is lifting up and away. And they even have like a designated traction mode in the app to do that. So it feels really good, like you're getting a nice elongated neck stretch at the same time. Okay, so another really cool feature with the G7 Pro is that it has an app to pair it to. It's called FutureWear, and it's available on Apple or Android. And on the app, you can find 11 different preset modes that you can choose from. If you don't want to use the app, there are 5 that are preset within the device itself that you can change from the device toggle on the side. But then there's 6 more available on the app that you can add in exclusively from the app. You can even build fully custom modes with your own special combination of TENS and EMS intensity, vibration, and heat. And I'm honestly convinced that there are so many different options to mix and match the different levels here that pretty much everyone can be satisfied. With the frequency being able to go up to 7 kHz on the electrical side, you can go from very low intensity to very high. And the best part is you don't have to sit with this thing thing like plugged in. It has a great rechargeable battery that can last up to 140 minutes. I absolutely love that I can just walk around, clean, do things around the house, work, and not have to worry about being plugged in and can have this thing on my neck. And the aesthetics are beautiful, guys. Like, it looks so, so nice. It's actually even won an award for its sleek and aesthetically pleasing design. Honestly, there's really not too much to hate on about this device. Other than one thing, and I've mentioned this earlier, but the intensity can be a lot if you're not expecting it. Now, I've had TENS and EMS done before on my neck and on my back, several different body parts from going to pt. So I kind of knew what to expect with the feeling. And if you're not a fan of that, you can turn that completely off and not have that feature activated at all. But if you do try it, just give it a few seconds because your body will adapt to that sensation and it'll be easier to relax into it after like 30 seconds of wearing it. But yeah, it is jarring if you're not used to that sensation. So that is the caveat I wanted to mention. And another really important note is that if you have any type of like medical device implanted in your neck or cervical spine, and specifically if it's made out of metal, you should not use this device. And of course, if you have any concerning underlying conditions, please make sure to check with your doctor or your healthcare team before using something like this. I'm also really excited because I found out that they also have something called the W9 Ultra. Which is a low back massager, and I am going to for sure be trying this out as well. So be on the lookout for that review because I am such a huge fan of what they did with the G7 that I couldn't resist. I'll put that link in the description as well for the W9 Ultra along with the G7 Pro, both down there so you can check them out depending on what you're trying to get relief on. So yeah, if neck tension or neck pain is something that you're dealing with and you spend a lot of time at your desk or looking down or just training hard, then this baby is definitely worth trying. All right. All right guys, I hope this review is helpful. If you have any more questions about my experience with the G7 Pro, drop 'em down below in the comments. I'm happy to answer them.
