The Nordic Hyper GHD from Freak Athlete - The Best Home Gym Solution Yet?! - FULL REVIEW

In this video Victoria S. Dorsano gives an early‑look, hands‑on review of the Nordic Hyper GHD from Freak Athlete, positioning it as a compact, multifunctional solution for home‑gym owners and athletes focused on posterior‑chain strength, injury prevention, and space efficiency. She explains how the machine consolidates the functions of six separate pieces of equipment—a Glute‑Ham Developer, Nordic bench, back‑extension machine, reverse hyper, hip‑thrust platform, and decline sit‑up bench—through a series of adjustable modes and modular pads. Dorsano details the adjustable incline/decline levels for Nordic curls, the ease of transitioning between modes, the robust build quality, weight capacity (up to 500 lb), and the compact footprint (≈23 × 22 in) with wheels for easy storage. She ties the equipment’s value to her personal injury history (ACL rupture, calf tears, kneecap break, low‑back issues) and emphasizes how strengthening the posterior chain can mitigate such injuries. The review also covers pricing: a presale price of $799 (after a $200 discount) plus an extra $50 off with code “Victoria,” comparing the cost to buying the six individual machines separately (estimated $2‑3 k). Dorsano praises Freak Athlete’s customer service and encourages viewers to pre‑order, ending with a call‑to‑action for likes, subscriptions, and comments about potential uses.

So you have a home gym, or maybe you're building one, but you want some equipment that's not going to clog up your space entirely, which means you're going to want to find equipment that is multifunctional. And as you guys know, if you follow me on this channel at all, I've talked about a few different pieces of equipment that I've really loved that have been super multifunctional and take up very little space. But I have this new piece of equipment that I cannot wait to share with you guys that is like the master of all masters when it comes to affordability and what you get for the size and how dynamic this piece of equipment This is just incredible. I was lucky enough to be an early tester of this new piece of equipment, so I wanted to give you guys an early look at what are the features of it, what can it do, how I've enjoyed it, and all the different components of why this is a great piece of equipment to include in your home gym. I mean, honestly, this thing can do what 6 gym machines can do just in one machine. So what is this amazing piece of equipment that I'm talking about? Well, it's called the Nordic Hyper GHD from Freakathlete. Now I've talked about other Freakathlete pieces of equipment on channel before and reviewed them just because they are honestly some of my favorite pieces of equipment. Not only because they are just built very solid and really well made, but they also tend to be multifunctional. I think Freakathlete does a really great job of trying to make equipment that is really economical and space-saving for home gym users and for athletes who just want to feel better and make their bodies bulletproof. All their equipment is kind of geared towards exercises that are really impactful for the body and for the athlete, or for somebody that wants to prevent injuries or rehab from injuries. So I'm a huge fan of that. You guys know I've had an ACL rupture, 2 calf tears, a kneecap break, you know, you name it, low back issues. So in the hunt of figuring out, you know, what works best for my body, I've come across a lot of Freegatletes equipment, and this one kind of takes the cake. So let's talk about the Nordic Hyper GHD and a little bit just about why this is such a great piece of equipment, especially if you're somebody who is a home gym user, yes, but also wants to bulletproof their body and work on injury prevention. Well, the Nordic HyperGHD really does a great job at targeting the posterior chain. And most of us are pretty anterior chain dominant. We live in a world that requires us to move forward, to bike forward, to walk forward, to run forward, to lean forward as we're working. And a lot of us are posterior chain weak. And this is what leads to a lot of overcompensation and injuries and things of that sort. I know for me, that was one of the first things that my physical therapist said to me when I walked into PT. After going through my ACL rupture, he's like, well, you are— have very strong quads and not so strong hamstrings. And that's why the Nordic curls are one of my favorite things. Going back to the posterior chain, the Nordic HyperDHD can train your glutes, your hamstrings, your back, your traps if you're doing trap raises or trap 3 raises, your QL or your quadratus lumborum. There's so many parts of the posterior chain this thing can target, which is awesome. And incorporating training that works your posterior chain is really great for just stabilizing the knees and the hips, again preventing knee injuries from happening, which is the worst thing for an athlete. I mean, there's a lot of terrible things for athletes to go through, but knee stuff is no fun. And you also reduce the risk for back injuries too, because back injuries are equally no fun. So how can this one machine train all these parts of your body? Well, like I said before, it really does the job of 6 machines in one. Those 6 machines being a GHD, a Nordic bench, a back extension machine, a reverse hyper, a hip thrust, and a sit-up bench. And you might be wondering, how, how can this one machine do so many things? And I thought the same thing too until I got it, because I was like, how can it do so many things and do it in a stable way? And also in a way where this thing is portable? This sounds insane, but it has all these different adjustment features which make it super dynamic, and the Honestly, the design is pretty ingenious. So in GHD mode, you can do glute ham raises, GHD sit-ups, 90-degree back extensions, and then you can just simply adjust it from there to a 45-degree back extension mode where you can do 45-degree back extensions and QL raises. And then you have the reverse hyper mode where you add the GHD padding and you can get this full range of motion to do a really nice full range reverse hyper. Then we got our hip thrust mode, which is really cool because the padding from doing The Nordics can detach and then you put it onto this back lever on the, on the Nordic Hyper and it turns into a really nice place to rest your shoulders to do a hip thrust, which is really cool. Like this is just so modular in that way. Then there's the Nordic pad that you can just plop on top of the bench and insert and lock into place, and then you can do a variety of different angles of Nordic curls. So if you're someone like me who does not have full control doing a complete flat eccentric Nordic yet and is struggling to get there, This bench really just allows you to work your way there because it has 10 levels of incline assistance that are measurable. So you can start at 45 degrees, then 40, then 35, then 30, and work your way down. And it's really great because you can actually measure where you're at and measure your way as you progress through that range of motion. And if you are like mastering flat bench nordics like it's nothing and you have no problem with it, you can even do decline nordics. With 4 levels of decline progression. So this just really takes your Nordics to the next level. And then in that decline position, you can do decline sit-ups, Russian twists, leg raises, all that good stuff to train your core. And adjusting it into each position is a very easy thing too. It's not like this struggle to like maneuver it. Everything kind of glides very easily into place, and all the knobs secure— you can tighten them really easily, and it's just really well made and super stable. Since we're on that topic, let's talk about the specs. So this is built for people that are about 5 foot to 7 foot, which is a majority of people. I know it's not everyone, but a lot of people ask like, hey, I'm 6'8", am I going to be able to use this? Or, you know, I'm 5'2", would this work for me? So it does have quite a large range of being able to adjust it accordingly. From a weight capacity standpoint, it is good up to 500 pounds. It's been tested beyond that for safety, but as far as what is recommended for use on no more than 500 pounds, so it definitely can hold a lot of weight. But my favorite part is the storability. Once you condense the bench all the way down, you can easily pop it up into its vertical position and maneuver it rolling. And I have to say, the way that they designed the wheels, it has— it just, it just moves really well and swivels really well. I've had some equipment with tiny wheels that doesn't do that, and you kind of have to like pick one side up and tilt it to get it to move. This thing moves with so much ease, and it just glides really well. And it does not take all that much space when you store it. It takes about 23 by 22 inches of floor space, so it really doesn't take up that much floor space. And you could just pop it up against a wall and you're good to go. It's honestly one of my favorite pieces of gym equipment that I've ever owned. I know I've talked about Freak Athletes equipment before. I'm a huge fan of their company in general. They do a great job with everything that they build, and they really pride themselves on great customer service, which I think is so important. This piece of equipment has honestly been such a huge staple in my training lately. I was already doing a lot of these exercises at the gym, but it is so great to have an option to do it at home in one piece of machinery, which is so great to not have clutter everywhere. So this is really like the machine that makes everything else so much more clutter-free in my home gym setup. It's awesome. And I know I've covered over other Freak Athlete equipment on here. I'm a huge fan of theirs, obviously, and really, really love what they're doing, their mission. But I, I really love that they do such a good job with customer service and really treat their customers well and take their feedback into consideration and are making equipment that is based on that customer feedback. And lastly, we have to talk about the price point of this thing because it is a little bit more than their other pieces of equipment. But it makes sense when you understand how much you can truly do with it and how much it would cost you otherwise to have all these independent pieces of equipment. I mean, a GHD alone can cost anywhere between like $400 and $1,000. A Nordic bench is usually a couple hundred dollars. A reverse hyper can be anywhere between like, again, $400 and $1,000. And then a decline ab bench, maybe $100. And then a back extension machine, probably about $250 or $300. So you're adding all that up and it's probably like $2,000 to $3,000 maybe to get like the mid to lower end. Side of equipment for all of those things. And I'm saying like probably on the lower end of all those things. So really, when you look at the price point of the Nordic Hyper, which is under $1,000 for all of those exercises, you're getting a hell of a deal. So right now, at the time of this video that I'm recording, the Nordic Hyper is currently on sale. It's on presale for shipment out on January 15th of 2024. So the presale is $200 off. It's about $799. I think that's a phenomenal price for what you're getting out of such a solid piece of home gym equipment. And you guys, I forgot to mention this when I was filming, but you can get an extra $50 off the already discounted price on the Nordic HyperGHD if you use code Victoria at checkout. Again, that's code Victoria at checkout for an extra $50 off the already discounted price. So if you want to make sure you grab that discount, definitely pre-order as soon as you can if you're watching this video before that point. After that point, sorry, but you're still getting a bang for your buck if you get it after January 15th at full price. Still a really good deal. As always, I'll drop the link down below in the description and above in this video. I hope you enjoyed this review and this early look at the Freak Athlete Nordic Hyper GHD. I know I've absolutely loved it, and I'm so excited for when you guys get yours in and are able to try them out themselves.
