Focusing on your sleep first before your nutrition and fitness. Without enough quality sleep, working on your health is like an uphill battle. If you're getting less than 7 hours a night of quality sleep, your hunger hormones are boosted, your satiety hormones are decreased, which makes you hungrier throughout the day, and you're more apt to go for more sweets or sugary treats because your body is craving some sort of energy. And the only thing it knows how to do at that point without the proper sleep is to get energy from food, and one of the quickest sources of that is sugar. And because you're not feeling fully restored and energized, it's going to be harder for you to make the decision to go to the gym. And you end up feeling lousy about yourself. You're scrolling through social media. You keep doing that to kind of numb the pain that you disappointed yourself yet again. Another day wasted in your mind that you didn't achieve your goals. So you're up late on your phone, not getting the proper sleep, and the cycle continues. So my number one recommendation for starting to work on your health is if you are not getting 7 hours of quality sleep, to start there.
