Victoria S. Dorsano argues that chasing your high school body is a losing game. Your body changes over time, and trying to recreate the exact same shape sets you up for failure. Instead, envision a realistic future version of yourself and celebrate the new body you build.

You need to stop chasing the vision of what your body used to look like. So often I hear, oh, I just wanna get back to like my high school body or my college age body, or I wanna lose X amount of weight like I was 15 years ago. And then you have in your mind that you are, you're trying to get back to this version of yourself that already existed in time. But the thing is, we can't go backwards in time. We only move forwards. That's not to say that when you move forward in time that you can't even look better than when you did, but it's gonna look different. And the sooner you can come to realize that we can still envision and have a goal in mind of what we want our bodies to look like, but envision that it's gonna be different than what it used to look like in the past. Because again, our bodies change, we move forward in time, all the things that I said. The sooner you do that, the easier it's gonna be for you to align with that goal and to make that happen and feel truly satisfied when you get there. Let's celebrate what our bodies can look like moving forward in time and what a new version of our bodies can look like in that process.
