Train for EXPERIENCES

Victoria S. Dorsano argues most people quit fitness because they're chasing looks or sports performance. She proposes training for experiences instead: get strong enough to hike Machu Picchu, surf, or bike without pain. She's leading a group expedition to Peru in August with altitude prep sessions included.

So I've been thinking a lot about why people struggle to stay consistent with their fitness, and I think it's because a lot of the times, especially on social media, we're kind of presented with two options: train for aesthetics or train for sport. But most of us don't care enough about abs to do it forever. And if you are an athlete, you still just might not be competing anymore, so PRs can kind of feel pointless. But what if you trained for experiences instead? Like, what if your goal was to be able to hike up a mountain without having knee pain, or to be able to go on a long bike ride with your family over the summer and not have to pay for it the next day, or keep up on a surf trip? Personally, even though I am an athlete, I I have always seen fitness and working on my health as an avenue to be able to do the things I love in life for a long time, including being out in nature and hiking. There's something about the experience of pushing yourself physically out in nature that is just unparalleled. And that's exactly why I'm taking a group to Machu Picchu in Peru in August. Yes, of course it's a bucket list destination for a lot of people, but it's also proof that your body can do hard things. Because once you realize what your body is capable of doing and the experiences it allows you to have, the realm of possibilities becomes endless. And that's truly the expansive type of thinking that I love about adventure travel. It pushes you to grow, it pushes you to become fitter, it pushes you to see things in a different light. Our official launch of the trip isn't for the next couple of days, but we are taking early bird spots if you're interested in getting on the list early, and that's at a discount. We're gonna be hiking ruins in Cusco, summiting Machu Picchu, and I'll be leading a lot of different breathwork and mobility sessions to help get your body prepared for the altitude and the hiking. If you've been looking for a reason to get serious about your fitness this year and want something to look forward to accomplishing at the end of the year, then this trip might be it. Comment below or shoot me a DM if you want the early access link with the discount. Hope to see you there!
