Vince Reed narrates a personal anecdote about feeling excluded from high-value networking circles at industry events. He explains his strategy to become someone those people want to associate with by adding value: growing his business so he could invite top people to his own events and deliberately doing the things those circles valued. He closes with the claim that you’re often only one or two people away from connecting with anyone.

One of the most frustrating things for me when I got started online was I would go to these, like, big events, and all of the gurus, all the people making all the money would be in, like, circles. They'd be laughing, they'd be at the bar, they'd be toasting, they'd be in the club popping bottles. And I'd be that person on the outside looking in, so desperately wanting to be in that circle. I realized that you have to become the person that the people in that circle want to associate themselves with and want to be around. You have to add value to the circle. And at the time, I didn't have anything to. So I just started to shift. I said, hey, you know, people in those circles, they have events that do really well in business. Let me build my business big enough to where I'm inviting them to my event. And then I just started checking off the list of things that I could do that I knew that the people in the circle wanted to be around. And I truly believe that you're literally one or two people away from connecting with anyone in the world.
