Steal These WINNING Ads (But Avoid This Funnel Trap) – Ad Roulette E15

Vince Reed breaks down two real ads and their funnels, showing what works and what doesn't. He points out messaging mistakes, creative issues, and a common funnel trap that kills conversions.
Not bad. Pretty clear. I'm still questioning, meaning not questioning what's going on, but not 100% sure of what this is. Hey, what's going on? Vince Reed here. And welcome to another episode of Ad Roulette where we critique ads and make them better, following this three part framework that you see here on the screen. So here's how it works. We just get the scrolling on Instagram. That's why we call it Ad Roulette. And we check out two ads and two funnels and we critique them to try to make them better and then we pick a winner. Alright, so with that being said, let the games begin. Drum roll. All right, what we got here? All right, Insider group. Okay, so the first thing we want to do when we're looking at the ad, we want to check out the messaging. All right, so with messaging, what you want to do is make sure that your ad is delivering the correct message to the end user. All right, so in this case, this is an image ad. So it's not a video ad. If it was a video ad, it would be playing, but it would be muted so you wouldn't really be able to hear what's going on. But with messaging, you want to be able to just look at it and get a general idea of what the ad is all about. So in this case, you can see 7.18 million by selling leads, no employees till 2.1 million, less than 7 clients. 52.2 thousand average revenue per client. So this is really, really clear messaging and images do a great job. I think the lost art in terms of advertising is using image ads, which side note my strategy. Whenever I'm running ads, I like to have two images and two video ads and run them simultaneously. So to help the algorithm. All right, so it's really clear when it comes to messaging on this ad. And obviously the creative is even better. You've got the guy here, it looks like he's literally holding his heart. I mean, it's definitely going to stop the scroll. Really, really cool. And obviously everything is really clear what this is all about. Essentially teaching you how to essentially sell leads, which is really different from what you see online typically today, which is most people teaching you how to start an ad agency where you're essentially selling the service on a monthly fee. All right, let's go ahead and let's take a look at the copy. All right, so as we come down here, not a lot of copy, which tends to be a more popular trend these days where people are using less copy. But we Want to make sure it's clear. So let's see what it says here. See how I get 30,000 to 150,000 per month from each client by selling leads. I started with zero and I run it almost alone, no office. So real clear. This is for someone who doesn't have a massive team and obviously something that a lot of people are looking for right now, which is obviously a make money opportunity. Great ad. Let's go ahead and let's take a look at the funnel. All right, so as we click on the learn more button here, what we want to do first is we want to look at the page headline, okay? That's what you essentially see at the top. And what you always want to do when it comes to marketing, and this is something that I learned from my mentors, you want to capture what's going on inside your prospect's mind. All right, what that means is, you know, whatever you were trying to deliver in the ad, you want to make sure you're delivering a similar message on the funnel. And they're doing a great job here because they're matching literally the ad how I made 7.18 million with under 7 clients. And then you have the sub headline, see how I get 30,000, 150,000 per month, which is essentially copying what he had on the copy of the ad. They did a great job here. Okay, now the next thing I want to do, obviously after page headline is I want to look at the creative. All right, so we scroll down here. You can see that he has some images. It looks like he's living that lifestyle. Got a picture of him. And it looks like the private jet, some nice hotels. All right, so the creative is great and it's feeding what a typical make money online offer is going to have, which is lifestyle. Which whether you love it or hate it, it's going to convert. Let's go ahead and let's scroll back up to the top. Because this is the most important thing when it comes to the funnel is you want to make sure that it's mobile friendly. And what I feel is really creative here is right at the bottom, right, right here, you see it says book a one on one call with Jacob's team. And that's above the fold. Remember, most of the traffic that you see online, it is going to come from mobile. All right, so most people, they just optimize their funnels, typically for a desktop computer. And let's face it, most people are clicking on the ads from their mobile phone. So this is doing a great Job on this funnel. This is a really good job from top to bottom. They're going to be tough to beat. With that said, let's go ahead and get to the next ad and see where we if this is going to give this ad some competition here. All right, what we got here? What we got here? All right, so awesome. We got a vertical ad. I've been looking for one from Aaron Platt. Been seeing a lot of his ads lately. The guy does a really good job. All right, so the first thing we want to do, like we do with each and every ad, we want to think about messaging. Right. Okay. What is the ad essentially telling me without hearing it, without seeing anything? Now with a video ad, it's a little bit more difficult. Right. Because as I said earlier, when you're watching a video ad, it's muted. We have no idea what he's saying, but we get a general idea. You can see he's got some captions going on on the video. So if we were to essentially read it, I'm assuming obviously we'd get a clear idea. But you have to remember when people are looking at this in their news feed, they're just scrolling so they're going to catch. Catch the captions when they capture it. Right. So in this case, I'm not really sure what this is all about quite yet. Obviously I think he's doing a good job with the captions, but I can tell it's something to do with business or marketing. All right, so the messaging, maybe they could have something else in the beginning that holds it a little bit longer before the captions start to move, which gives me a better idea of what this is about. Just those people who are going to scroll if they're not understanding what's happening. With that being said, let's go ahead and listen to the ad and check out the creator.
There's a color coded system that makes sales teams print more revenue. This isn't another vanity metric dashboard. This is a red, yellow, green KPI system that shows every rep and you exactly where they're performing in and how it actually affects their comp. We baked in the psychology, the math and the weekly review structure into one process. It turns managers into leaders, reps into self managing pros. Grab the tool, plug in eight numbers and watch it light up your sales floor. I'm going to go over it a ton more depth on the next page.
Awesome. So it looks like it's some type of sales dashboard to help managers and their sales reps essentially see what's happening throughout their sales process. All right, so again you can see if you're looking at this ad and you don't hear it, you're trying to figure out what it is. Right. So now that you listen to it, okay, you get a general idea of what it is. Let's hope the copy supports it and clears everything up. Let's go ahead and read the copy. There's a new way to build a data driven high performance sales team without flying blind on metrics. Want to know what it is? Take a 1 minute, take 1 minute to read below. So he goes into some of his history, has spent years of high ticket sales the best way to scale, blah blah, blah, blah blah. System has driven millions in additional revenue for founders. And then he goes into some numbers. Okay, from 300,000 to cracking the first million a month. Keep scrolling. And here's the best part. It's not. This is a great. One of a good tactics to use is what it's not because a lot of people are assuming like I am assuming what this is. So he goes into what, what it's not. Okay. It's not drowning in dashboards with no clarity. I like that setting arbitrary KPIs that reps ignore, overcomplicating comp plans no one understands. So this is good. He's going through all these things which is good for someone like me, especially someone who has done you some things with sales teams. Right. And in your mind the last thing you want is something that's going to overcomplicate some things here. And then I can see says I've worked with some of the most, with some of the most growth obsessed teams out there. He goes into some abusing authority. Patrick McDavid, Cole Gordon, Ryan, Dice. This is good. Okay, then scroll down. It kind of keeps going. Sounds good. A lot of copy here. So click this ad, enter your information on the next page and I'll see you on the other side. All right, so let's go ahead and let's click and see what's going on here. All right, so the first thing we do is we land on the page. All right, so we have sales momentum on the top because we're going to look at the headline. That's the first thing the person is going to see. And as it continues, get the sales momentum. Operating systems today. This resource was built specifically for seven and eight figure coaches, consultants and agencies tired of not getting the most out of their sales teams and system. Then we have the video there and then a little bit below the fold. Okay, is Looks like the opt in form. So the creative is clear. You got the headline, you got the sub headline on the page headline, then you got the copy and I mean the creative and the copy with the video there, which I'm assuming is gonna go in more depth of the actual system and then below the fold. Okay, you have the opt in form, so go ahead and scroll down. Okay. Now again, this could look perfectly clean on a desktop computer, which most of the time it does. However, I think this one where it says want a copy? I want to. I want a copy. I would. If you scroll back up at the top, maybe you could just put that button right there on the bottom and then you have the form pop out when you click the button just to improve the mobile friendliness of this particular funnel. But other than that, it's clear that the design for sales professionals, again calling out who his target market is. Not bad. Pretty clear. I'm still questioning, meaning not questioning what's going on, but not 100% sure what this is. Again, I know that the video would likely explain more obviously. I think it could be a little bit more mobile friendly. A lot to think about here, but it's that time. It's time to pick a winner. Let's go. Hey now, before we get to the winner of this episode of Ad Roulette, I know it's good. If you are running ads to a webinar or a VSL funnel, check out my members area inside my EBOO account. I want to show you how we're getting 50 to 79% conversions on our funnels, driving traffic to regular webinar and VSL funnels and how we're using Eboov to do it. So if you click on the link in the description of this video, you can check out a quick vsl. It'll explain more about ibu. It'll take your funnel game to a whole new level. All right, with that being said, let's get back to the episode. All right, let the games begin. All right, the first one we're going to do here is insider group. All right, so leveraging our three part framework, we have messaging, we have creative, we have copy. Okay, we can see that the messaging was extremely clear. 7.18 million by selling leads. And the creative was really clear with the bullet points. No employees, less than seven clients and literally the guy holding it looks like his heart in his hand. Definitely going to stop the scroll. And the copy was extremely creative. I thought that this was great. It fell right in line with all the Things I want to see on an ad. So with that being said, I'm going to go ahead and give this particular AD a 3 out of 3. Alright, now, as we move over to the funnel and it's really cool here is you can see them side by side. You can see this does everything. My mentor used to teach me online when I got started way back in 2008. Damn. I'm sorry. Yes, I'm a dinosaur when it comes to running ads online, which is capture what's going on inside of your prospect's mind. Something as little as it's saying 7.18 million plus by selling leads on the ad you can see carries right over to the funnel. It says how I made 7.18 million with under seven clients, which again pulls up the bullet points right into the funnel. Alright, now obviously you have the creative, you have to scroll down. One thing I would likely do is probably move this image up a little bit so you can clearly see that image that we saw earlier of him sitting in the private jet, but he made up for it with the button above the fold. However, I have to kind of dock him a point for creative just because again, all that traffic coming from mobile, I think that picture being up a little bit right here above the fold, where you can kind of see the lifestyle would essentially help us be a little bit cleaner on mobile. So with that being said, I'm gonna go ahead and give this funnel a two out of three, which means that insider group, you have a Grand total of 5 out of 6 for your Ad and funnel. Great job. Great funnel. I'm actually gonna use some of the things that I saw here from that. All right, moving over to Aaron Platt. All right, so you know, again, this ad, it was one of those things where I know Aaron Platt knows what he's doing. I can just tell by just looking at the image. However, when I'm looking at these ads, I have to look at the ad from a perspective of the person that's seeing this in their newsfeed. They don't know who Aaron is. They can, they have no clue of what it is that he sells. Right. So even just looking at it right now, right. I have no idea what he's going to talk. All I know is I see a board similar to what I'm looking at here behind him. I mean, he looks like a smart dude. And then obviously you do have the captions on the screen, but I'm not really clear of the messaging when it's muted. Now, obviously when I played the video, the creator was clear, explained that it was some type of system that was gonna make managing your sales teams and give you the visuals that you need to improve your sales performance. That was clear. And I thought the ad copy was great. It was long copy, which I think is really strong today as well. I like either really short or really long copy. The longer copy is also going to help your ads perform better as it's going to feed the algorithm information about who your target market is. So that was great. So I think that the copy was great, but however, I'm going to have to doc you for the messaging only, because it is what it is. If I'm looking at this, I really, at this point, have no idea what this is about other than the assumptions that I would have to make in this case. All right, so for that, for those reasons, I'm going to go ahead and give you a two out of three when it comes to your ads. All right, now moving over to the funnel, which is why I love this particular perspective here, because you can see them side by side right now. If there were any questions that I had when it comes to messaging from the ads, those get immediately eliminated from the funnel. Right? Because I can see sales momentum at the top. I can see who he's targeting, designed for sales professionals, clearly calling them out, get the sales momentum operating system today. So obviously I know at that point he's offering some type of system. You know, I can put two and two together and see the dashboard and see that there's something there that's gonna make my sales process easier. And obviously you've got the sub headline. However, this funnel does miss the one element that I think is needed, especially today. Every click counts. Remember, people are paying, you know, on average, $3 a click today. So when they click on your funnel, you don't want them to have to scroll around trying to figure out what's happening. That's why I think that if they had a button here, this would likely perform better. Again, this could be the perfect funnel on a desktop computer, but on mobile, you want them to be able to have easy access to the next step. And you obviously, I think, move the button up there and change that from a form to a button pop up so the person that's clicking knows the actions that they want to take. So that being said, I think the page headline was strong. I thought the creative was strong. But the mobile friendliness misses in this particular example. And for those reasons, I'm going to give you a two out of three or a grand total of four out of six making our winner in this episode of Ad Roulette Insider Group. Congratulations on winning this episode of Ad Roulette. Guys. These are some great funnels. We can learn a lot from them and I'm definitely going to take notes from all of them. With that being said, hope you got a ton of value. You guys let me know if I picked the right winner in the comments. And with that being said, I'll see you on the next one. Sam.
