Hey guys! Today I'm gonna talk to you about the 6 dimensions of self-care. The third dimension of self-care is self-care of the spirit. This one can be challenging for people if they feel like they don't have a spiritual practice or if they weren't raised in a spiritual or religious household. I was not raised religious or spiritual, but I have gone on my own spiritual journey. Having a spiritual practice can be something as simple as taking a break and taking a a few mindful deep breaths. It could be focusing on a beautiful object. It could be moving your body with your breath and noticing what that feels like. It could be connecting to your sense of purpose and why you're here on this planet. For me, part of finding spiritual self-care is having a spiritual community that I can commune with and rely on. This could be attending a church, temple, synagogue, or even going to a meditation studio or a yoga studio that has classes and workshops where you have a chance to interact with people who like-minded. When in doubt, head outside. John Muir was famous for saying that nature was his connection to God and that outdoors was his Sunday worship. I feel the same way. When you get outdoors, it's impossible not to notice the interconnectivity and to feel connected to something greater than yourself. The fourth dimension of self-care is emotional self-care. This is giving yourself the permission and the space to express your feelings no matter what they are. Self-expression can come in many forms. It could be speaking to a loved one about what you're going through. It could be using creative expression, any type of artistic modality, to get your feelings and your emotions out there. Emotional self-care is also all about being authentic. It's about not putting up a facade and having to pretend like everything is okay all the time when it's really not. Emotional self-care involves giving yourself outlets and opportunities to release your emotions. Nobody likes takes to feel sad, anxious, fearful, jealous, or any of these things for a very long period of time. Find outlets for these emotions to transform them and transmute them into something that is going to continue to energize and inspire us. Part of my emotional self-care practice is going to therapy and talking to someone who has a different perspective. Another part of my emotional self-care practice is communing with other women and people who understand what I'm going through and similar goals for themselves. Another way that I take care of myself emotionally is by avoiding the news. I know it's important for us to be informed and to make decisions and vote and put ourselves out there and do things in any way that we can where we feel like we can make a difference, but to be honest, the 24/7 news cycle is not healthy for us. We were not built to know everything that's happening in the world at any given second. I give myself 100% permission to take as long of media breaks as I need to recharge. I hope that you found this video helpful. I hope that it was a reminder to you that you deserve to take care of yourself as though you were taking care of a loved one, because you are. Thanks so much for watching, and I hope to see you again very soon. Bye!
