Hi, I'm in Phnom Penh International Airport. I want to talk about a book by Cal Newport called Deep Work. Obviously, it's not a sales book. It's a book for everybody who works. But the thing is, if you think about it as a salesman, salesperson, or a sales manager, Think about all the problems you have with deep focus and getting work done. You're always multitasking, you're always flitting from task to task. Deep Work is all about trying to control that and trying to get solid, deep, focused work done. And it's a bunch of tools. It explains why it's important, it explains the theory behind it, the physiology behind it, your brain activity. And then it talks about actual tactics to try and help you get deeper, focused creative work. Now I find even though a lot of my work is reactive and a lot of my work is dealing with my team and dealing with supporting people and dealing with distributors and customers and all that, and there's really no way I can disconnect completely, to get good work done, to get strategy done, to get good Messaging done, all that type of thing. Sometimes I really need to focus for a period of time. And what we're talking about in this book, Deep Work, we're talking about ways to really drive that deep creative work that is based on focus. It's based on getting rid of distractions. It's based on controlling and disciplining yourself to drive that focus. So Deep Work, good book, highly recommended for just about anybody. But I'll tell you what, for a sales manager mid-career, I find that you get to the point where, boy, you are doing so much multitasking, you're doing so many, so much work trying to keep fires, put out fires, you're doing all this stuff. And really, a book like this helps you develop the skills to, to get into a deeper, more creative type of work process. Remember, when you're ready to grow your international sales, reach out to us.
