Presentation Jazz - Global Sales Mentor | Zach Selch

Zach Selch recommends Anne Miller's Presentation Jazz, a 20-year-old book that teaches you to structure presentations as dialogue, not lectures. He's built his own talks around it for 15 years. The book focuses on getting the audience to engage: nodding, tapping, listening.

So I'm in the Zurich Airport, one of my favorite all-time airports, great Western European airport. And I'm talking about a book called Presentation Jazz by Anne Miller. It's not a new book. It's about 15 years old, 20 years old. But it's a really good book for understanding how to build your presentation. Presentation. It's not about the technology or the technique of working with PowerPoint or any of the other presentation products. It's really about how you structure your presentation step by step to create give and take and dialogue with the audience. And it's really good. It was revolutionary at the time, I'm sure. And I've been using trickster pointers from this book for 15 years. I really structured my presentations around this for about 10 years, and then I changed about 4 years ago. Some new things have come up, and I've done a few new things, but it really is powerful, powerful book. It helps with the concepts of— for people who are struggling to think of how to build their PowerPoints, people who don't think they do a good PowerPoint, people who think they're not engaging, this is very helpful. The other part of this is, you know, she talks about why does she call it Presentation Jazz, because she's talking about how to get, you know, the customer nodding their head, tapping their fingers, you know, engaged. And it's a great set of tools if you want to get your customers more engaged in the presentation. Remember, Presentation Jazz and Miller.
