Zach Selch says Thessaloniki, Greece has the world's best sweets. The ice cream flavors are wild: pistachio-hazelnut-white chocolate, white-chocolate-red-velvet-cake. The pastries blend Turkish, Viennese, and Southern Italian traditions in ways Vienna, Palermo, and Istanbul don't match.

So for me, Thessaloniki is just about the best place in the world to eat sweets. As surprising as this might sound, being in Greece and not in Italy or Argentina, this is some of the best ice cream in the world. But you gotta— I gotta say, it's also maybe the most baroque ice cream in the world. So I'm having 2 scoops, one of which is pistachio, hazelnut, and white chocolate, and the other one is white chocolate red velvet cake. Okay, so they, they don't, they don't skimp here on, on the flavors. They don't have just, you know, regular raspberry or something, but the most interesting mix-ins of flavors you can imagine. Very well made. The baked goods in this city are just amazing. They're sort of a combination of what you'd find in Turkey with what you'd find in Vienna or in, um, uh, southern Italy mixed together because of so many different influences here. So what you're getting are the type of things like baklava with cream or, um, some type of a, uh, pastry that you might be more comfortable finding in, uh, in southern Italy, uh, that suddenly is covered in, in honey and nuts like, um, like it might be a, a, a Turkish or an Ottoman type of thing. Fantastic sweets in in Thessaloniki. So if you get a chance, this is where you come. If you have a sweet tooth and you're in Europe and you want to try someplace because I can't think of any place in Europe I would rather be eating eating sweets baked goods than here, including Vienna, including Palermo, including Istanbul. This is the place. Remember, when you're ready to grow your international sales, reach out to us. We can help.
