Welcome to the In Between Podcast!
11 Jul 2022 · 9 min
In this debut episode of The In Between Podcast, co‑hosts Astrid Reyes and Alexis Teichmiller (joined by a third co‑host) introduce the show’s purpose, vision, and format. They explain that the podcast is a lifestyle‑focused, unfiltered, weekly conversation aimed at people who are navigating “in‑between” seasons of life—times of transition, growth, confusion, and decision‑making. The hosts share how the idea emerged from a coaching session and personal life changes, and they outline their own professional backgrounds: Alexis is a coach, software professional, and experienced podcaster (previous shows include The Laptop Lifestyle and Fearless Founders); Astrid has a nine‑year marketing career, now works as a full‑time photographer and online educator. Together they are passionate about business, mental health, entrepreneurship, fashion, travel, and personal development. They emphasize the duality of emotions (grief vs. joy, acceptance vs. growth) and the goal of normalizing the messy middle of life, inviting listeners to join a community on Instagram (@inbetween.pod) for updates and deeper engagement. The episode sets the tone for candid, honest, and light‑hearted discussions that will explore a wide range of topics relevant to listeners in transitional phases.

Welcome to The In Between Podcast. I'm Astrid.
And I'm Alexis. And we're 2 best friends on a journey to living a fun, intentional life.
We know it's easier to share on a season of life once it's behind you, but what about when you're in the middle of the growth, confusion, and decision-making?
This lifestyle podcast is for the everyday gal who loves to travel, talk about business, relationships, fashion, and everything in between. Welcome to The In Between Podcast. I am Alexis Teichmiller, one half of the podcast.
And I am Astrid Reyes, the other host of the podcast.
This is— yeah, co-host. This is my first time doing a podcast. Alexis is the pro here doing multiple, and so here I am learning all the terms. Absolutely.
And that's just a part of, you know, learning and being in between things. So the point of this particular episode is just to kind of introduce what the show is, what the vibe is, and walk through our vision for the podcast and honestly, hopefully how we can serve you.
Yes, definitely. Um, well, to share a little bit of a backstory first before we jump into all the, all the goods. Um, the crazy thing was this started about 2 months ago, right?
The idea.
Yeah, it's, it's really a baby idea.
Yeah.
Um, but overall it started, we were having a coaching session. And right afterwards you stop and you're like, why don't we start a podcast?
And I just started crying. Clearly I was still feeling pretty emotional.
But the crazy thing is I was going through a lot of changes at that time, a lot of exciting things happening. And that past weekend, you or I was thinking about starting a podcast. And it really stemmed from all these conversations and all these changes that I was going through.
Mm-hmm.
And then being like, This would be so valuable for other people to share because I know how much that I have learned from other people. And so I kind of threw it to the side. I was like, well, I've never done a podcast before. Like, that's just not my thing. That's a whole new thing to learn. And like anything new, we just feel overwhelmed by it. So that was my thought process over the weekend. And then I think it was a Tuesday you shared that, and I'm just like, this is a sign.
We need to do it.
We're going all in.
Yes. Yeah.
For me on my end, I've always done podcasts focused on business, around business, or for my business. And the very first show I ever did was called The Laptop Lifestyle and it still exists. You can go listen to it, but it's all very focused on online entrepreneurs, people building laptop lifestyles with their businesses. And then I started my company, which is a coaching business centered around Deeper Life, which is what the podcast is called, and focused on emotional growth and personal development. And then I also host another show called Fearless Founders, which dives into, um, entrepreneurs who have founded, you know, 6, 7, uh, figure businesses for a company called the Midland Institute of Entrepreneurship. So I've never done like a lifestyle, feminine, good energy, like podcast before. And I feel like there's so much to me and what I want to share, but it's just like always been so focused on.
Mm-hmm.
business. Yes. So I'm excited to kind of dig in on the lifestyle side and all the different aspects of life that also make such a, a full life. Yeah. That aren't solely focused on business.
For sure. Yeah. And with that too, the interesting thing is we're both passionate about business. We're both passionate about mental health and developing ourselves and entrepreneurship. And then just in general, like our style, like our fashion and photos and all the things. And that's what I love about this podcast is because even for me, just the thought of starting a podcast, I'm like, what do I even, you know, focus on? I feel so multi-passionate. And it was such a freedom point whenever you're like, we could just do lifestyle. We can talk all the things. And it really came from, at least on my end, where it clicked was there's been so many learning points during our friendships where I feel like I've been able to unpack certain things, or we've, our conversations have just led to a new revelation, or it's just fun too, where you're just like, oh, I never thought of it that way.
Or like, yes, me too.
Yes. And so being able to just share that with everybody else, um, and of course at this point everyone knows the name, which is In Between. And a big part of our conversations and kind of a trend that I was picking up on was every time that we talk, we're both in in-between seasons. So whether it is, um, you know, in relationships, like you have a long-distance marriage, or whether it is jobs, like I quit my full-time job The 2 months ago or so. And so we're always in between something. We're always growing into something. And I think for me, we just sometimes have this false expectation that we're arriving, right? And like, I'm gonna learn all the things and do it and that's it. There's always something else. So just, you know, this is really just to share vulnerably on our in-between seasons, everything that we're learning from body image to business to family and relationships, and hopefully connect with you all more and hopefully it will serve you.
Yeah. And that's like normalizing the in-between seasons and normalizing the fact that we're all kind of figuring it out. And even people that you admire, influencers, like even people in your life that you think have it together, you know, are still figuring out certain aspects of their life. You, they might have one section really honed in, but there might be this whole other element to their life that you don't know about that they're still processing and figuring out. And that's just a part of being a human being.
100%.
And we kind of wanted to like flip the script and lift up the curtain and just have a lot of those open conversations with you and kind of create a community around those in-between moments. And so one of my goals for the show is to keep this really unfiltered, really unedited, and honest and fun, lighthearted, and also deep. Like, I think a big part that you've taught me as a friend is this beautiful relationship of duality.
Mm-hmm.
Like, I can access Grief and a season of joy. I can access acceptance while also trying to grow. And whenever we try to label things and say, this is where I'm at in life, we can sometimes leave out all these other aspects of where we're still growing and what we're feeling and trying to process through.
So good.
And so like those in between of the duality of like this and this, that messy middle is really what we hope to dig into on this podcast and really just unpack and show up really imperfectly along the way.
Yeah, definitely. And I feel like we're just taught that you arrive in a place, and we're not. Like you said, we have 2 different seasons, and we might be growing in one, and then the other one maybe we feel comfortable in, which was maybe last year. It was very uncomfortable. And so we're just always shifting gears. So we really just hope that you guys will enjoy it, that you'll, um, open up to us too. We would definitely want this to be more of a conversation. And yeah, hopefully— Um, you'll enjoy it. Enjoy.
Yes, we hope.
No, let's keep it in.
No.
And a big part of this is like connecting with you online. And, um, you know, I am a coach, but I also work full-time in software. And Astrid is— go tell, tell them, tell the people what you do. Oh my goodness, this is hard.
Well, um, I was in marketing for about 9 years, and that was incredibly And now, um, I'm a full-time photographer. I've ran my business for about 5 years and I'm doing that. And then also an online educator as of recent. Yes. So yeah, a little bit of everything.
We're stepping in.
Yes.
And we'd love to connect with you on Instagram. You can follow the In Between podcast on inbetween.pod, and that's kind of where we'll be sharing updates of every episode and when things are releasing. This will be a weekly episode and we can't wait to continue to create content for you. and connect with you and, uh, just share everything in between.
Yes, follow along.
