In this YouTube video, experienced yoga teacher Angelica addresses the common question of whether beginners can enroll in yoga teacher training. She introduces herself, highlighting 20 years of teaching and 15 years of training experience, and outlines the online programs she offers: a 200‑hour foundational training, a 300‑hour advanced training, and a Launch/Create course for certified teachers. Angelica asserts that beginners— even those with only a few classes— can successfully complete a 200‑hour training, citing a student who opened her own studio after starting with just two prior classes. She explains why intensive, immersive training is the most effective way to learn yoga, detailing the curriculum topics such as yoga philosophy, history, Sanskrit terminology, the top 100 common poses, chakras, mantras, chanting, the meaning of “om,” and anatomy. She warns viewers to verify that a program truly provides 200 contact hours and not a compressed schedule. Using an academic analogy, she likens the 200‑hour training to a bachelor’s degree and the 300‑hour training to a master’s degree, emphasizing that prior mastery is not required. Throughout, she encourages questions, promotes her courses, and invites viewers to subscribe and comment.

But I'm going to tell you right now, if you don't know anything about a subject, there is no silly questions. And the only way that we learn and get better at anything that we want to do in life is by asking questions and also by making mistakes. So there are no silly questions. If you have a question you want me to do a video about, make sure to drop it in the comments below. I'm always looking for ideas, and I would love to know what your questions are about yoga and about teaching yoga. My name is Angelica. I've been teaching yoga for about 20 years now. I have been teaching people how to become teachers for about 15, and I've been doing that online for 3 years now. So I do an online yoga teacher training, 200-hour yoga teacher training, 300-hour yoga teacher training. And I also have a Launch and Create Your Own Yoga Teacher Training course for people who are already certified to teach yoga. If you're interested in any of those, the links are all in the description below. I'm not going to waste your time talking about them a bunch, but I absolutely love what I do. And I have worked with thousands of people. I've been practicing yoga for about 40 years now. And I have had the pleasure of meeting so many wonderful human beings through yoga. Last year, someone took my online yoga teacher training. She had only taken 2 classes prior to signing up to online yoga teacher training with me. That's all she knew about yoga. And she had actually taken like a fusion that wasn't even a real, like, traditional yoga. And she didn't really know that much about it. On the day of her graduation from yoga teacher training, she opened her very own yoga studio. So a— in short, yes, beginners can definitely take yoga teacher training. Here's some reasons why a beginner might want to take yoga teacher training. A lot of people don't know, but it's actually called yoga teacher training and intensive. And the reason why is because you are learning in an intense way about the practice of yoga. And what a bet— no, there is no better way. There is no better way to actually learn about yoga than just fully immersing yourself into a training immediately. So you're going to learn it. Different trainings are different. I have lots of videos on this. So I want to warn you that other trainings are different. I can only talk about my training. And what I offer. You're going to learn about the philosophy of yoga, the history of yoga. Where did yoga come from? Who are some of the founders of yoga? What are the Sanskrit words that are associated with the postures? What are the top 100 most common yoga poses? We can't possibly go over all of the poses. There's 908 yoga poses. We can't possibly hit them all. So we go over the top 100 that you would be using in your class. And think about, you know, a 200-hour teacher training What that means is that it's 200 hours of training in yoga. So it should actually, if you're signing up for a training and it's not mine, make sure that you double-check to make sure that they're actually giving you 200 hours of instruction. If they're putting a 200-hour teacher training into 2 weeks, we'll just do the math on that. That's not possible. So do your due diligence. If you have any questions about that, let me know. You're also going to learn about the chakras. You're going to learn mantras. You're going to learn chanting. You're going to learn what what the word om means. You're going to learn about the yoga anatomy and what are the different parts of the body and how are those parts of the body expressed in different yoga poses. So for a beginner, yoga teacher training can be an incredible experience and it can help you to really set your practice on the right foot. I've had many, many, many people take my training who were beginners, people who had only taken a few classes. People who had only taken classes for about 30 days, people who had taken classes for 6 months. It really doesn't matter. Now, there are trainings that it does matter, and they are focused on having people come into the training that are people with super advanced practices. For me, I will work with people who know nothing about yoga and people who have been practicing for 30 years, because to me, a yoga teacher training, especially the 200-hour, should teach you everything that you need to know to successfully and confidently go out and teach a yoga class, but also to make you feel like you kind of know something about yoga. Because to me, it's like a college. I think of the 200-hour teacher training as like your bachelor's degree in yoga, and the 300-hour training is like your master's degree in yoga. So it's just about adding on and learning more. You wouldn't think like, oh, I can't be an electrical engineer unless You know, I learn— I can't go to school for electrical engineering unless I learn more about it. I know that's not— you wouldn't think that. You would sign up and enroll in school for electrical engineering. You would never have the unreasonable expectation that you should know everything about electrical engineering before signing up for that class. And it's the same with yoga. And I'll let you know, you'll never know everything about yoga because yoga is a centuries-old practice. It started with the Vedas. Hundreds of thousands of years before— not hundreds of thousands of years, that's an exaggeration— thousands of years before the Common Era, yoga started in the Vedas. And so it's something that's very old and you can't figure it all out in this lifetime. But if you want to learn more about yoga, definitely don't feel like you can't take a teacher training because it could be the most incredible experience of your life.
