How Plant Medicine Supercharges Your Yoga Practice (MUST WATCH!) Episode 110

In this Yoga Liberty podcast episode, host (Speaker A) interviews yoga teacher and content creator Michelle Bumba, known as Mishi Cat. Mishi shares her journey from a dance teacher and server to a full‑time yoga instructor, sparked by a pandemic‑era personal practice and a friend's encouragement. She describes her 200‑hour TruFlow Yoga training, which blended in‑person and Zoom sessions, emphasized yoga philosophy (yamas, niyamas) and required early teaching practice. The conversation critiques the superficial value of Yoga Alliance approval and stresses real teaching experience. Mishi then recounts her 300‑hour online teacher training with the host, highlighting curriculum flexibility, digital‑marketing lessons, and the creation of her free "Botanical Bliss" course that merges plant medicine (lavender, peppermint, cannabis, yoni steam) with yoga sequences. They discuss building an online presence through YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, hiring coaches for SEO and video editing, and monetization tactics like TikTok Shop and live sales. Mishi outlines her current teaching schedule (16‑18 classes weekly across beach, indoor, and corporate studios), side work (dog walking, pet‑sitting), and her philosophy‑driven class style that prioritizes meditation and self‑love over high‑intensity power yoga. The episode also mentions upcoming events (Sedona Yoga Festival, Yoga Expo Pasadena) and future projects such as 30‑day challenges. The interview closes with Mishi’s legacy message: yoga is for every body, self‑love is essential, and the practice prepares us for life's transitions.

Hello everyone, welcome to the Yoga Liberty podcast. I am absolutely thrilled and excited today because I have an incredible guest for all of you. Um, my friend Michelle Bumba is here. She's also known as Mishi Cat on Instagram and YouTube. She is a lot of fun, she's super joyous, and she joins us from California. She teaches near the beach in Huntington Beach. Thank you so much for joining us today. Welcome to the Yoga Liberty Podcast, Mishi.
Hey, thank you so much for having me. This is my first podcast ever, so I am super excited to be breaking into this world, and I'm super happy to do it with you.
Well, I'm super glad that you're here. For those of you who are joining us, make sure that you share the show. Um, we don't have any sponsors or anything. We don't make any money on this podcast. We share it with you so that you get experience, strength, and hope, and you can build your yoga business whether it's online or in person. So, um, definitely share the show, give us a 5-star review so that we grow and we can help more people and make more episodes for you. So, um, I'm going to jump right into it. Mishi is going to share with us the story of why she became a yoga teacher, how she became a yoga teacher, and what she's doing now, so that if you want to replicate her results You can too. Um, Mishi, tell us what made you want to become a certified yoga teacher? What was it that was like, hey, I just, I, I want to do this, this is, this is my vibe, this is what I want to do? Because you teach full-time, right?
Yes.
Okay, so tell us, why did you want to teach yoga?
Um, okay, so I, I, I love teaching in general. I was a dance teacher for years and years before I moved to California. So, you know, I had that kind of a background. And during the COVID times when I had the best experience, I'm so lucky that I actually was able to grow and really, you know, have a good time. During that time, I was practicing a lot of yoga by myself. I had all the time in the world to dedicate to my own personal practice, which before it was far and few between. I was a server. You know, slaving away for the man, making, um, you know, just in tips and that was it, dealing with the people. And so during that COVID time, I had all the time in the world to practice for myself and I was obsessed. I grew so much as a person. I grew so much confidence. I grew so much self-love. And one of my friends was like, why don't you just be a yoga teacher? And I was like, oh my God, why did I never think about that? Of course I should be a yoga teacher. Like I could totally kill it. So, um, yeah, I set out to find a training and, and just start becoming a teacher, like knowing that I still had to work, you know, side jobs and just see what— where this yoga thing could take me. And yeah, that's the reason why I think I just showed up, like had a little nudge from a friend and I had the passion and I went for it.
What, um, what kind of training did you take? Who did you get trained with and what did it focus on?
So the first training I did was 200 hours with Bryn at TruFlow Yoga. That's in like Newport Beach. And it's funny because the friend who encouraged me to become a teacher, she knew that— she knew Bryn. They had worked together. She actually all worked together at the same restaurant, different time periods. And she suggested that I go check out hers. And so I like popped online, checked it out. Just so happens there was an upcoming class. So I registered for it and it was like every Tuesday and Thursday evening and then a whole weekend, like every other weekend for like 3 months. So kind of a usual amount of training that people go through. And it was still a bit during COVID times. It was like January 2021. So we still had to use the mask when we first met each other. And it was a little bit of hybrid sometimes when the classes were more of philosophy based. And just discussion. We did Zoom meetings instead of in person, but it was still a good percentage, about half and half in real life, online. And we focus on, of course, the asana. And pretty much right away we dived into practice teaching, which a lot of people like are terrified of. So, um, that was good. I really enjoyed going through the, the philosophy as well. A lot of trainings are focused mostly just on the postures and on the body, and of course anatomy is definitely important, but bringing that, you know, philosophy aspect to it really kind of made it well-rounded practice. At the end of the training, there wasn't like a test, a Q&A, or a multiple choice or whatever, but we wrote basically like an essay, like a little something, and we, you know, utilized the the niyamas and the yamas, and we kind of basically prescribed ourselves, you know, what we could work on. Like, we realize what we're in deficit of and then how we could utilize the yoga practices to benefit our lives and to improve them. So it was so lethargic kind of going through that and really like looking at myself and being like, okay, here's my weaknesses. This is what, you know, the truth about me, who I am right now. And then this is what I want to be and how to get there.
So yeah, I love that philosophy of yoga, and I think a lot of trainings leave that out. Um, it's a big part of my 200-hour online as well, because I think that, you know, yoga can give us tools for living that we can't get anywhere else. And it's like, right now we're living in this modern society that can be so toxic and so difficult to maneuver through And, um, what yoga gives us through the yamas and the niyamas specifically is a way to really let go and let God and enjoy our life. And that, that understanding of the self can be very cathartic. It can really help you to, um, to grow as a human being. So that's exciting that they did that. I also love how you were saying, like, in your training they had you teach right away, and that's something that not all trainings do. Like Um, I have that in my trainings too, like in week 1 of both my 200 and 300, you're teaching like right away. Um, but in many trainings, like in my 300 that I took, we taught less than 10 minutes, which like was a real bummer for me. Yeah. I mean, I'd been teaching for a while, but I just thought that wasn't really right. And I've had people—
that's not nearly enough, right?
Right. I've had people come to me and say over the years like that they took a 200-hour and they really didn't get much teaching practice at all, or that they only practiced with other students in their class and they never got to work on, on, um, outside people. And I think one of the things that, you know, a lot of people don't realize is that just because it says Yoga Alliance approved doesn't mean that it's a good school. It means that somebody did the work to submit a plan to Yoga Alliance, but that doesn't necessarily mean that that that they're even following that plan, or that they know what they're doing, or that, you know, like Yoga Alliance approves a lot of different things.
And, um, right, if you just make a log of I did this hours and I made this course, they're just like, sure, whatever, give me your money.
Yeah, yeah, right. There's no, like, there's no, um, oversight on that. And a lot of people are taking courses and thinking that they're getting certified by Yoga Alliance. It's not Yoga Alliance that certifies you, it's It's the person that you took the course from, you know, that's actually certifying you. And a certification lasts forever. There's nothing that Yoga Alliance can do or not do to take that away from you. So, um, true.
It's funny because when I first started teaching and she was talking about the Yoga Alliance and she did kind of phase over the fact that it's, you know, not that important, but you should do it and blah, blah, blah. And, um, Yeah, I was just like not, not about it. There was no reason to even sign up for it.
There's no reason to give them your money, like, unless you want to. Like, I have schools, I have 4 different schools that are registered through them, and they have that little stamp on them that says Yoga Alliance approved, because unfortunately, like, people really believe that that means something. So yeah, if you're running schools, you kind of have to have that stamp. My school's like greatly exceed the requirements that Yoga Alliance, um, has set forth. Um, and that's actually how we met. You took my 300-hour, um, one-on-one online yoga teacher training where we meet one-on-one and, um, yeah, go over, um, gosh, we were together like 4 or 5 months, right? Yeah, yeah. And then now you do things with me too, which is pretty cool. But, um, and we'll talk about that in a minute, but, uh, but, um The thing that's, uh, that was really, that was really cool. So can you talk a little bit about your experience in the 300-hour online?
Because yeah, yeah, so I did a 200-hour and that was in 2021, January-ish, and I pretty much started teaching right away. Um, one of, one of my friends when I first started becoming a teacher was like, just right away teach anybody you can. Find friends, find family, just practice, teach on them. And so I was luckily able to get into a brand new studio, and they knew I was fresh, fresh out the training. They hired me, so I was teaching for about 2 or so years there. And then my cat is meowing at me, so it's distracting. Um, so then I wanted to level up. I felt like I kind of reached a peak where I was like, I'm teaching, I'm doing it all, like, but I want to do more. And I was just scrolling on the Instagram and my boyfriend at the time, he's my husband now, was from Costa Rica. And I saw you doing a retreat in Costa Rica. Somehow I saw a reel or something and I was like, oh, cool, Costa Rica. This girl is cool. Let me just find out more about her. And then I saw that you did the trainings and I just kind of right away vibed with you because you're not like the normal standard of what people think yoga teachers, yoga yogis look like. And I really vibed with that. And then we met and we are— have the same sign and we, um, you know, vibed with our—
is your birthday coming up too? When's your birthday?
December 6th.
Yeah, yeah. So we're, we are like right around the same time.
And it's so funny that it's literally today is Sag season and we're doing this podcast together.
So kicking it off for us, it's our Time.
So yeah, so I dedicated right away to your training, and, you know, the hours kind of worked with me. I thought it was cool that we were online, and it was so funny when we actually met, I was like, oh, you're in Vegas? I thought you lived in Costa Rica. And, um, so I really wanted to step up a little bit of my online presence. Like, I love to teach in person, like, that's probably my number one I like to communicate with the people. I like to, you know, be able to give hands-on adjustments, to give the Reiki while I'm doing yoga and stuff. And, and I— but I wanted— I know that everyone is making somehow making a bunch of money online, and I wanted to try to get in on that a little bit. And also I just wanted to beef up my YouTube page specifically because I had one, I never posted anything, um, but I knew I wanted to because I have all of my family in Pennsylvania, so across the states. And I was like, how can I like, you know, reach out to those people without without having to put in too much effort of creating a phone call and whatever. So yeah, I started your 300-hour and we did all of the things that I wanted to do. We covered the YouTube stuff, we covered all of the— I loved how we were able to pick our own curriculum. You gave us this big options and we could pick like 6 of the different electives that we wanted to focus on. So I honed in on the ones that I chose. and I was just so like grateful that you had so much knowledge about the internet and like self-knowledge, like you taught yourself. I'm just mind blown that you like figured all of this out and are, we're sharing it with everyone and, you know, and not like hoarding it to yourself and you're able to like reach out to people, share this information. And that's how I learned a lot, how to make really, you know, the reels on Instagram, how to make the videos, how to crop it, cut it, add the things, take out things. So it was so beneficial to me. And yeah, I'm really grateful for it.
Well, I'm super glad that you took the course, but I do have to be very transparent. Um, some of it I learned through like self-taught, but I also hired people to help me, just like you did. Like, I didn't do it on my own. If you want to get where you want to go faster, hire someone who's already doing it and do that. So exactly, I did hire a few coaches over the years to teach me, you know, how to do search engine optimization, how to do editing on film and how to create short-form video. I think I've spent most of— like, I've spent a lot of time learning how to create short-form video for like Instagram and TikTok and YouTube. Um, but, um, I love your YouTube channel. Your YouTube channel is a lot of fun and it offers a lot of value to people. And you're funny. You're like really, really funny. You're enjoyable to be around. Thanks.
I actually was just re-watching because I'm about to do an event next week, like a breathwork, um, kind of sound bath thing. And I was looking back at the video I made specifically for our breathing section, and I was looking at it and I just was very impressed with myself for a hot minute. I was like, whoa, this is what I sound like? This is how I am teaching? Wow. Because I make the videos and I posted them and I never really went back and rewatched them a lot besides when I was editing. And I was looking through the whole thing and I'm like, wow, okay, all right, all right, I'm pretty good.
Right. Yeah, no, you are really good. Your videos are very engaging and really fun. And I remember when I asked you to come and assist me at the Sedona Yoga Festival, and I really— I don't— I didn't think you were going to say yes, and you were just immediately like, yes, I, I will come to assist you. And you drove to my house, and I opened the door, and I just felt like we'd been friends forever, like, because we'd seen each other online so much, even though we'd never met in real life. It just felt very normal like right away that relationship was built even though it was online.
I know, that's so crazy how— I mean, we did speak almost every week, you know, and you think that the screen makes a difference, but like it actually doesn't because it is pretty much like we are FaceTime, just like how we are now talking in real life. And then when we met in real person, it was like a blast. I could not believe that you asked me that. I felt so honored. I was like, wow, my teacher wants me to help her with like this festival in like Sedona, which is like one of like the biggest yoga festivals, and I was just so shook and so honored, and we had such a blast on that trip. I'm so glad I was able to go.
Yeah, we had a really good time. It was really beautiful, and Sedona is a really beautiful place. But that's why I asked you to assist me again. So Mishi is going to be assisting me at the Yoga Expo in Pasadena, California, um, in January, and I will make sure that we put a link in the description below. So if you want to come to Pasadena and see Mishi and I doing, uh, yoga adjustments and assists, we would love to have you there. And then I'm gonna— at the end of the day, I'm gonna also have a get-together, um, for everybody that, um, follows me online that I've never met before, or I have met, and we're all gonna have like a hangout at the end of the day. Um, so that'll be a lot of fun. I'm really excited about that.
Right.
And, um, yeah, uh, it's like traveling and teaching. And you did such a great job. When we were in Sedona, I was like, there's no way we could have done this without any less than 3 assistants. It was you and Francesca and Kelly, uh, and like the 3 of us— or the 4 of us— like really busted our ass. That was— we were so—
like, there was a lot of people, like, to go to each person, and like they had a lot of questions, and only one person was never going to be able to go around to every person and help them with what they needed. So I felt so cool and I felt so special. And just like I said, I really love this whole teaching aspect. So that was another level to be able to go to some place like that where there's hundreds of people in a room together and practicing the same thing and learning and me being able to teach them. It was an incredible experience.
Yeah, I remember doing a lot of that with my teacher when I first started, like in the first few years that I was teaching. Like that just really transformed like how I became later on in life, you know, and the, the fact that I was able to open a studio and do all of that work because I would not have known how to do that stuff if Terry hadn't let me, you know, Terry and Lauren both letting me assist them. In fact, I learned how to do adjustments and assists because I would go to Lauren's class all the time and assist her. Lauren actually lives in California, in Southern California. Uh, she was one of my teachers when I took teacher training. She's very Ashtanga. So Ashtanga has, you know, a lot of hands-on assists. And so I would go to her Ashtanga classes and she would teach me the hands-on assists and I would assist people. And it was like just invaluable because being able to touch a lot of different bodies is just so helpful in that journey, you know?
Yeah, definitely.
So, um, tell us a little bit about, you know, what are you doing today? What's your life like now? And, um, yeah, you know, what's a, what's a typical day for Mishi Cat?
Cool. Well, I mean, the thing about being a yoga instructor is classes are typically like 1 hour. So I mean, if I work, it's maybe just 1 or 2 hours a day. So it's pretty light, which I love. And, um, I'm teaching around 16 to 18 classes a week. Mix between multiple studios, two like, you know, indoor studios. One is outdoor at the beach, which is my favorite one because my classes— so one of my studios is like kind of like a corporate vibe and they have mirrors everywhere and they're a little bit more like, this is how this class is going to be. My other studio, there's no mirrors, which I love. That's, that's my first studio that I ever taught at. That's my home place. And then the yoga on the beach is definitely my favorite because I don't have to make a playlist. I don't have to worry about students looking in the mirror and judging themselves and judging others. Like, it's so peaceful out there and it's like the ultimate yoga experience. Yeah, the sand's a little challenging when you're trying to balance, but, um, so I'm glad that I have that because if I didn't have to go work on the beach, I wouldn't really go to the beach that often, as often as I should for living so close.
Um, do you take your board with you a lot to the— we have, we both have a root board.
Yeah, the root board that you can— yeah, some days, like when I have enough time, because the thing's a little heavy, so dragging it out there with a bag of blocks, a bag of blankets, and the root board is kind of a lot. But I'll do it for my personal practice when I go out there, like by myself. I'll totally use that root board, um, which I got the link in my bio for a discount.
So do you Yeah, no, the Root Board's amazing. Like, I wish I'd had that when I lived— we lived in a camper and then on a sailboat, and I wish that I'd had that during the time that we lived in the camper because there were so many places outside that I could do yoga, but there was never like a really nice flat surface.
And the Root Board is great, and then it messes up your mat and then you get holes in it or something.
I do have like a little bump in my Root Board now because of it, like being underneath the bed in our RV and like, oh yeah, like getting like the little indentation, right? But, um, but no, I've used that now all over. Like when we go camping, I just pull out that Root Board and I'll do my yoga practice outside, and it's like having your own yoga studio wherever you go, right?
Yes, I love that Root Board. I love teaching on the beach. I love teaching in general, and that's my full-time full-time job, um, even though I'm not working, you know, 40 hours teaching yoga. Thank goddess, because that'd be a little too much on the body. Um, but other than teaching yoga, sometimes I walk dogs or I pet sit, like, on the side. And that's, yeah, of course, extra money, but also I love the animals. So I mean, I would probably do it for free if you need me to watch your cat or your dog. Like, I got you.
Yeah. Um, that's interesting that you work at, like, so many different places and you have like a different perspective of what it's like. And, you know, the corporate yoga movement, um, is very fascinating to me, and it seems to be very cyclical. Like, for a long time it was CorePower, and now, you know, there's other, uh, chains that are very popular. And, um, but, you know, I remember when I worked at the gym, the whole like corporate— corporateization of yoga, um, that's a $10 word. Um, it was like a little bit hard for me because the thing that I like most about yoga is the spirituality and the philosophy, right?
So, and sometimes they censor that. They're like, don't use Sanskrit, or they're like, you know, keep it X, like make it sweat, make it so sweaty and make it really hard. And that's kind of what I have a problem with now is since I I've toned into like what my style kind of feels like and what is. I almost never want to teach like a power class or a sculpt class because that's really popular now. People just want to like kill themselves in the heat and they want to add extra, you know, 7-pound weights to like their warrior poses and chair poses. And I just don't really get it. Like, yeah, that's exercise. Like, you can go to the gym and hit a boot camp class. Like, this is yoga. It's like for a whole nother reason than Yeah, it is exercise for sure, but like, that's not the whole entire point of it, right?
Right. The point actually is to calm the mind so that you can meditate.
Yeah, I make an announcement every, like, every time in my class, like, after a few flows, I make them stop and like sit and be still and be like, this is the purpose that we did all of those words, that we did all of that balancing or whatever, is to get them blockages out of the mind, out of the body, so we can remain still and sit. And if we had time, we could sit in this meditation for the rest of the class, you know.
I know, I really think about like how, you know, sometimes I feel like I just really stress myself out for no reason, and the— and I just want to just quiet my mind, you know, like it's just so overwhelming, modern life. And I think that, um, social media is super addictive. And I would say that, you know, I definitely have a TikTok addiction.
Um, and I'm so glad I never got onto that. Like, if I— I already have like the Instagram, the Snapchat, the Facebook, whatever. But like, if I also had the TikTok, I would never leave my house. My phone, my hand would be like carpal tunneled. I mean, I get enough from my friends and my sister. Like, everyone sends me the TikToks, but I don't like get on and scroll it because I That would be an abyss.
I used to make a lot of money on TikTok, but now it's really hard to get reach there. But, um, I'm— I don't really like Instagram, like, as a platform. It's not really that interesting to me, but that's where the majority of my sales come from. So the good thing is I'll get on Instagram, I'll post a video, but then I'm not interested in engaging on there, so I just get off. But, um, I do have a friend right now that's making $20,000 a month selling on TikTok Shop.
Wow, they have a shop on TikTok now too.
So yeah, you can buy directly from TikTok. Yeah, so you can buy things directly from TikTok. Actually, I do sometimes. We buy our laundry detergent on there from a small company. And, um, I bought— I bought my walking pad, and I do TikTok Shop sometimes where I just like turn on the camera and go live, and then I show like me on the walking pad at my standing desk, and people can just click the link and buy the walking pad or the Oh, they make it so easy like that.
Okay.
Yeah, yeah. And I've sold, I've sold stuff before on there. It's crazy. Um, not as much as my friend does, but she goes live every day for an hour and a half.
Yeah, yeah.
And she's talking the whole time. I'm not super active on my lives. I'm just like, I'm working. If you want to buy this, click that link, you know. Like, she's like talking about the features and advantages of her things that she's selling, so she's obviously doing you know, a lot more, a lot more active. But, um, yeah, it's, um, it's really fascinating. There's so many ways to make money online, you know, and it's really just a matter of doing the work. I don't think people really realize that, like, that it's— you just have to pick a thing and go all in on that because there's so many ways to make money. You just have to do the work. And it's really the people who keep doing the work after 6 months or a year of having like mediocre results. They just keep going. In year 2 and year 3 is when it's real— it really happens for you. It takes some time to build that up, and once you get there and you've just been consistently doing it and you have a system that you're consistent with, then that's, you know, when you really, you really get to— you really get the returns on it.
Yeah.
Yeah, so, um, you have a course that you have— you created during my 300-hour yoga teacher training because that's one of the options people can choose to create an online course during that course. And so you would love to share that with everybody, um, and we'll put the link to that below. But can you tell us a little bit about the course?
Totally, totally. So I, um, really love plants also, like I love pets, I love plants. And, um, that's the reason why I created this course, was it's basically plant medicine with yoga. And a lot of my YouTube videos also kind of mesh those two things, um, different various plants like roses or rosemary. We've got the lavender, like just different, um, plants and what their benefits are and how to mesh them in with your yoga practice. And so this course is called Botanical Bliss. And it's basically, you know, a plant medicine and yoga alliance here and how to blend them together. There's 3 different sections. The first one is just kind of an intro about the plant medicine and its history throughout different cultures, throughout time period. Um, then we get into how to properly use the plants, how to, you know, honor the plants. And you're not just picking it out of the ground and crumbling it up or doing whatever you're asking the ground for permission to take this plant out of it. And just things like that, how to kind of do things a little bit more organically and a little bit more respectfully to the planet, to the plant itself. There's also a section where you're figuring out how to utilize the plants that you have, whether that's burning it or ingesting it through tea or through smoking One of my favorite plants is cannabis, so I practice a lot with that in my yoga, my personal practice. I just love the, the deep, the deepness I can get into my body. I can really dive in. I can release the thoughts of my mind almost instantly and then just kind of fully embody what I'm practicing at that moment, whether it's meditation or yoga. So there's another section for mostly for women. So men and women can both, both totally get something out of this course. For women, there is one section, um, about a yoni steam. Yoni is that, you know, reproductive organ, that reproductive system of women. And it gives details on how to do that, utilize that yoni steam for yourself. And then the other part of the course is going to be 3 classes of yoga and then how to combine your plants with them. So like there's like a yin class that is more with lavender because lavender is that calming plant, so is that yin practice. Um, there is a more of a power kind of upper beat kind of yoga class, and that's going to be with like a peppermint that gives you a little bit more energy. Whenever you give it a smell, you can get a little boost of energy instead of kind of drinking all that coffee or whatever you guys are doing. Um, so yeah, that's a course that I created through your wonderful 300-hour practice. I would have never been able to come up with that or think about that on my own. So your guidance, the step-by-step tools that you were there, you know, every step giving me encouragement and direction on how to outline the course, how to perform it, and then giving me the opportunity to make it my total own. I can create my own style, I can create my own theme, I throw my own personality in there. So that's a course that I really, really enjoyed creating. And it was a lot of work. Like, it is kind of intimidating to be like, I need to film, you know, 20 videos and put them all together and edit them, everything. Um, so it did, you know, take a good bit of time. Um, so it was a labor of love and I'm offering that course for free on my platform. And, um, Yeah, so that's what I got going on right now. Eventually I'm going to be making some 30-day challenges because that's how I started my personal practice. I got on the Yoga with Adriene, the goddess of YouTube yoga, and I did about 3 of those 30-day challenges back to back to back. And that's really like— it was kind of simple to start, and then it moved into a little bit harder by the end of the 30 days. So that's kind the gist of what I'm gonna go for for my 30-day challenges. So it's just more accessible for everyone. So it's not like, here, this is 30 days of handstands, 30 days of inversions, or crazy this. Um, we want to make it more acceptable for everyone. So that's going to be up eventually also.
Yeah. Yeah. Well, you were easy to work with because you are a hard worker and, um, you were always willing to do what you needed to do to provide high-quality experience for people who are taking your classes, whether they're online or in person. And I really love that about you and value our friendship. Um, but before we go, I would like to ask you one final question, which is, um, if you were, you know, to go to samadhi tomorrow, into the great beyond, Um, what would you like to leave this planet with? Like, what do you want people to really know about yoga and about life and to keep in their hearts?
I would really— I mean, I hone them in on this a lot in my yoga classes— is the love that you have for yourself. I mean, so many people are just like scratching out and reaching out for other people and other, you know, things— cars, houses— to make them feel a certain way. But you can find that, you know, that God, that source energy, whatever you believe in, inside yourself. If you just take moments to reflect inwards, I mean, you can find out so much about yourself. You can find so much release. It's kind of lethargic. Um, so yeah, definitely honing in on self-love. And I know it's like a gimmicky word now. Everyone thinks self-love is going to get a massage or going to the spa. But what self-love truly is, is giving yourself compassion, you know, and not talking bad about yourself, switching your mindset into being like, oh no, my body, my body might look like this, and kind of honing in on that negative. Just kind of turn the channel in your mind, and instead of being like, oh no, this is what I look like. This is what I get to look like. This is the body that I get to live in. So yeah, definitely that. And then just the fact that yoga is for everybody. It's not for only skinny people. It's not for only, you know, women that you see on the COVID of magazines in their matching outfits. So yeah, I just really, really want that outreach to everyone, you know, every age, every size, every type of body, that you can practice yoga. And yoga practice doesn't mean doing a, a pose. Yoga can be sitting by yourself in silence and just taking a minute to close your eyes and, and be present.
That's really beautiful, and I agree with everything that you just said. Um, yoga is so much more than just, um, this like power yoga experience that we see and think that it, it really is. It's so much more than the poses. And that's not just something that we're saying, like, it's reality, you know, um, that there's, there's so much to yoga. There's 8 full limbs that people are missing out on, right?
The way you live your life, the way you feel about yourself, like, it expands beyond, like, beyond your physical body, beyond your mental body, like, and it really, in, in my mind, it almost kind of prepares me for the end almost. Like everyone's just scared and like our final pose in, in yoga is called corpse pose and that's kind of for a reason. And we're almost like, you know, preparing ourself to accept that the end is coming. Everything has a beginning, a middle, and an end. And that's including our, our human bodies. And the more you try to resist it or you're trying to be scared of it, then you're creating this whole pathway. For your life to be living in fear or, you know, lack whenever you could just be totally living in the moment and free in the present and free from that fear and ultimately liberation, which following all the limbs of yoga leads us to.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know, I was just watching a YouTube the other day on the Tibetan Book of the Dead and it was saying exactly what you're saying, that like yoga is preparing us for that transition? And will we walk into those moments after we pass, um, with fear so that we get stuck back into the cycle of reincarnation? Or will we look at our karmas in our life with full transparency and understanding and step to the next level? So, um, I'm not in any hurry to find out what happens. Um, but when it does, I hope that I can see it with grace, um, as well. Yeah, yeah. So anyhow, well, thank you so much for joining us today. You can grab Mishi's, um, course in the description. There's a link in the description. And also please give her a follow on YouTube at Mishi Cat Yoga or Instagram at Mishi Cat Yoga. And, um, we really want to encourage her to start doing her 30-day challenges. So that, um, because she's such a great teacher and it's amazing to, to have that experience. So thank you for joining us today, Mishi. Again, please do share the show and, um, make sure to give us a review. That really helps the show to grow and it helps us to make more episodes for you. I had been doing this podcast for a long time and I quit for a while because, you know, I'm only one person. I can only focus on so many things. So when we get more downloads of the show and when, um, you know, we get more reviews, it shows us that that's where you would like us to spend our time. So please do let me know that you want to see more podcasts because this is actually my favorite thing that I do. Um, it's, it's easier than Instagram Reels. I know that seems really weird, but it is. And, and it's funner.
I mean, you get to chat with your friends and you're just discuss.
Yeah, I feel like it's, it's high, like, top of funnel content. So it's like people who are like your— the best clients that you would work with are the ones that are listening to the podcast right now. They're the people who are— you're gonna be able to touch and benefit the most. So true. Um, yeah, definitely. So anyhow, uh, have a lovely day, Mishi Cat. Again, thank you so much for joining And, um, we'll see you in the next podcast.
All right, thank you so much for having me. I love you.
